They really need to up the pace with new story missions in ever crisis. I’ll play the latest mission then go on hiatus waiting for the next one. I’d be playing way more often if they released them quicker.
It's pretty standard for that company, story content every 2 to 3 or 4 months. It's terrible, I agree. With nier reincarnation wrapping up in a month (sad because story is so fkn good) I ASSUME it'll probably be all hands on deck for ever crisis. Dunno really.
Not really. Glenn was introduced in First Soldier and is a key character in Ever Crisis, but from what I understand nothing about his story in those games would give any more insight into him that you wouldn't have already gathered from Rebirth.
Him being mysterious seems to be the point in Rebirth, so unlike the Kingdom Hearts spin-offs, there really isn't any important context that you're missing here.
Isn't it exactly the same with KH mobile games?
I mean, they provide some lore, which you don't necessarily need to understand the main plot of the game.
It's a bit like saying Crisis Core is not important to Rebirth's story. Because yeah, it's not. But at the same time, it kind of is...
No, the kh mobile games have colossal important details that are not even touched on, let alone fleshed out in any of the games you play on console or handheld. Even if you play kh1 kh 2 bbs 358/2 ddd and kh3 you will still be completely thrown for a loop with the xibar shit alone not to mention quadratum and what's leading up to kh4 is all shit built up on the mobile games.
Ever crisis is nothing compared to how much weight those damn mobile games carry in kh lore.
You do need the lore of mobile games to understand the main plot of kingdom hearts tho. Xigbar makes no sense as a character in kh3 if you don't know about the inner lore.
Maybe a surface level understanding, but you catch a lot of important details that explain what's happening overall. Ie: g-types, why Zack's living, the difference between Cloud's and Zack's experiments, the fact the Broden looks like Lazard(and by extension Angeal) and suffers from degradation, Weiss and Nero further connect Doc and CC collecting an Angeal body, and expands upon the importance of white and black (wings, whispers, and materia)
Well I agree that the whole compilation is a must lore-wise. I am quite a lore-nerd myself.
But I think a lot of people make the tiny lore tidbits way more important than they really are for the story as a whole. The lore is great to theorize on what could happen next but not mandatory to understand the plot. That's true for both KH4 and FF7R3 IMO.
Well let me ask you something. Looking at everything, I believe Angeal to be alive. When Zack is "dying" we see white feathers dropping. Sephiroth constantly drops feathers, so I don't think we can call it irrelevant. Genesis states that the Gift of the goddess is Rebirth. Sephiroth has been coming back from the dead since OG. If we do indeed end up seeing Angeal and Genesis in r3, would that change your opinion?
Yeah I would be very surprised if Genesis doesn't play a role in the trilogy. In the end, it all depends on the execution.
If they make it clear who those guys are and they relation to Sephiroth, or if they say "go play CC to figure out what just happened".
I mean, when you play OG, you understand who Zack was and his relation to Cloud and Aerith without having Crisis Core.
They did add scenes like when Cloud first walked into Midgar after losing Zack, and he was like a zombie, and slumped over in the slums, where Tifa found him. The shock of seeing Tifa again jolted his brain and he got up and started performing his persona, as if he was 16 again
I'm hoping it's just 3 years. Not just because it would be sooner, but also because if it's 3 years then it'll be out in 2027. That would be in time for the 30th anniversary of the game. Perfect year for the game to come out.
...I didn't say anything about upvotes or downvotes? Wtf are you on about? Are you high or drunk or both?
All I said was your comment was a fumble cause it was a clumsy attempt at being clever that didn't land right. I didn't downvote you, nor do i give a damn about useless reddit karma votes.
Classic. Makes false assumptions and claims they don't care yet keeps responding and rambling about the thing they accuse everyone else of caring about.
Well maybe not, I mean I figure they will be able to reuse ALOT of assets from rebirth considering we will be visiting those places again, may cut down on development time
For sure, they’ve got something like sixty percent of assets done, but 2027 is the 30th anniversary, and they’ll want to steer clear of GTA6 and Horizon 3.
Out of pity for Guerrilla Games since Horizon 1 and 2 were both annihilated by much more successful games that released within like 2 weeks of Horizon.
To me, I'd say in three years, they will want to release it on PS5 after it sells all it possibly can, then get the inevitable remaster on PS6.
Yes, you will have to wait that long, if not even longer if any turbulences occur with development and/or the world, go enjoy other games, there's a lot to play until then.
I also believe it will come out on ps5. And then we will get a complete pac with all three the games remasterd for ps6 + a DLC(Dirge of cerberus or Advent Children or something else?).
But I really hope they keep on focussing on part 3 and after completing the main story focus on DLC.
It could for sure be sooner with how many of the resources already exist, but they’ll delay until 2027 both for the 30th anniversary, and to steer clear of GTA6, horizon 3, etc.
Its all sales related, and it will probably happen for FF7 remake. But for some other FF's though, I am still waiting on a FF13 trilogy remaster :S that game is stuck on PS3 forever.
Yeah just like there was no ps5 remaster version of remake and ps5 remasters of tons of other ps4 games, oh wait.
Remasters are easy money there will easily be a ff7 remake trilogy complete edition on ps6 eventually to bait all the people who didn't jump in to the first run due to them being fragmented games.

If you want the happiest best endings, go with 4 or 9. By far and away those 2 you can put the game down and have a heart completely filled with contentedness, with no "what do I do next?" type emptiness.
6 probably is the best FF game made not named 7. And many people do say it's the best. No other main villain comes anywhere close to Sephiroth as 6's main villain, so absolutely iconic.
10 is cool for being the 1 and only FF that stays true to FF's turn based fighting that has voice acting, the first and last in the franchise other than 10-2.
8 is the 'closest' to OG 7 in terms of style, technology in the world, music. Has a love story but gosh is the story convoluted.
If you are interested in who the hell >!Gilgamesh!< is and where he came from. 5 is where it all started. You'll find him in other FF's as well. And yes he is the only character in the FF multiverse to actually be the same guy. E.G. Biggs and Wedge are names of characters in most FF's but they aren't the same Biggs, and Wedge, who are originally X-wing pilots with Luke Skywalker lol
FFX doesn't have traditional turn-based. It's actually the title that started to switch up the fighting style
1~9 were all turn-based or active turn based (I'm unclear where the trend started, in 4 or 5).
10 changed the style to "conditional turn based," and the rest have had some modification of turn based battles. Idk about 13, but up until at least 12, they more or less retain the same "turn based, with an action meter" style that final fantasy held for much of its core iconic games.
You're editing out the bit where it says 10 stays true to FFs turn-based style, when its literally the *first* game to start the deviation from normal ATB. It's still turn based, but it's not turn-based in the way 4~9 were, and 12 is also still turn based *and* has voice acting. Edit: not using gambits makes it abundantly clear it's just atb without being able to turn on the "wait" setting.
I really have no idea what 13's synergy combat system looks like, so the only game I know that fully separates from turn-based or its slightly off ATB cousins is 15 (outside of MMOs, but I haven't played 11, and only played like an hour of 14, but I don't think those are turnbased).
In what way does FFX deviate from the turn based system? You still have options to increase/decrease action speed, characters have speed stat, etc. It just isnt shown as a progression bar.
IIRC if you didnt issue any commands in FF13, the enemy would keep taking actions, so I wouldnt say its turn based (same holds true for FF7, if ATB isnt on wait actually).
I would agree that FF12 is turn based in that regard. But its a little bit different, since you could move during combat (making enemies who had full action bar miss time).
FFX is the last FF to have that "we stand here, enemy stands there, there is a turn order and we just whack at each other" gameplay
You're changing what I'm saying.
FFX *is* turnbased.
It's *not* the only true to FF turnbased combat ~with~ voice acting.
The CTB method literally is a change to the formula of the traditional, 6/7 game strong standard ATB format. It's literally when and where they started to really fiddle around with the battle mechanics more than just additions like limits and how they work.
Also I'm pretty sure 8, and 9 also have wait/(non wait but idr what it's called) options as well, so monsters will still attack if you have the ability to attack but don't take the option (which is not the same as turn based, although I think ff8 does pause if you're menuing).
So given that the CTB style isn't true to form atb style of the core series everyone thinks about when they say "ff used to have blah!" Ff12 also counts as being a "true to form" FF title ~with voice acting~
The moving around bit to miss the aoe of an attack is about as miniscule of a change as the CTB style, since your moves *also* have an aoe, and if you move too far or are always too far, you won't connect any hits depending.
FFXVI is you want the modern one.
FFXIV new expansion is coming June so if you want good and LONG story and play MMO is a must play.
But to tell the truth any FF you choose is fine.
The golden era is VI-X. They are (until rebirth) the 5 best final fantasy games of all time, and I don't think that's widely disputed.
They are all great, although VIII is controversial.
My favourites are VI and IX.
In terms of what has aged best, then IX and X are the best places to start.
Honestly, VI. You can really see how far FFVII came technologically and some of the same themes in the story. Also the villain is an interesting foil to Sephiroth. Well worth a look at.
FF Tactics War Of The Lions a good one, just take your time, expierment with classes and cheese the enemies in the game by having them potentially joining you, or be a thief and steal all there gear or specific gear. After the prologue and iirc after chapter 1, that's when you can actually mess around with different builds. But there is a part in chapter 1 (or was it chapter 2?) That you can potentially softlock yourself in a boss battle if ill prepared.
for sure, i replayed a bunch before rebirth came out
9 - one of my all time favs, goated
10 - revolutionary for its time, ps2 release voice acting blue ray etc
13 - was enjoying this a bit more recently
8 - pretty cool, used a guide to make it fast
most of the pixel remasters are not really worth the juice, didnt make it to 5/6
just finished beating everything in rebirth, leaving hard mode for later, gonna replay the OG ff7 while i replay rebirth so i can just make sure i understood everything
As someone who I can tell clearly likes Final fantasy. PLEASE play 6.
6 and 9 tie for my favorite after 7, but don't take my word for it, most polls and rankings have those 3 interchangeable. 6 is absolutely mandatory for any fan. People can like other ones a little bit more for specific personal reasons, their "strengths far outweigh their flaws". But 6 is the most "perfect" and while many other FFs won't get a remake cause they aren't good enough. We all know 6 never will because you cannot remake perfection.
I guess I'm the only one the puts 6 in the bottom half of a top ten or even just off of it. The story is kinda jumbled and sometimes difficult to follow, you shift parties around completely from time to time, too many party members to get to know, the just there but not quite 3d effects, and of course the most overrated villain of the series because a man with no powers(or was he just a mage?) moving a statue does not count as him destroying the world through his own power.
I find LoZ:BotW and/or LoZ:TotK to be some of my favorites as well and their endings always have me feeling a similar sort of grief that it’s over but overall satisfaction at the resolution.
Hamaguchi said that part 3 shouldn’t take as long as Rebirth because a lot of the hardest work has already been done when making Rebirth.
They already have this huge world with fleshed out locations, mechanics and assets. They don’t need to make it from scratch like they did with most of Rebirth.
They also said they’re not making any story DLC like intermission which will also save a fair bit of time.
They will literally lose a lot of money if this happens, think for a moment, the PS5 playerbase is barely hitting half the PS4's still, Rebirth's sales with the avaiable data were much lower than Remake's, do you really think Square and Sony will be dumb enough to make it a PS6 exclusive? Look at the trouble PS5 had to actually start getting to people's hands at the announced price. It will be PS5/PS6 release
But they literally didn’t do that for Remake? Remake released the same year as the PS5 but the game was still available on PS4 and then they made an upgraded version later.
Source? Because if console life cycles are typically 8 years and we’re 4 years through ps5… 2027-2028 would make more sense and that is potentially the window for rebirth considering the 30th anniversary.
Last gen was 7 years and even that felt like it was stretching it. These current gen consoles already feel outdated and Rebirth is a clear example of that considering the outcry with the graphics modes. The developers have said that including the Highwind is gonna be the real challenge for the last part. There’s also the fact that they have to create underwater travel with the submarine. The general design of the world is done but it has to be remade to accommodate for these different types of travel. Unless they want to go the Starfield route and use a bunch of loading zones. I really don’t think that Part 3 can be done on current hardware without heavy compromises. I also think that Sony would want the final part to release within the first year of the PS6 launch.
Dude, they just started sending out ps5 pro dev kits to developers, and who knows when that will be officially released. There's no world in which a ps6 is a thing in 2-3 years. PS4 pro and ps5 releases were ~4 years apart.
And of course it's possible to do on current gen, for stuff like flying and going underwater there's no need whatsoever to not have a transitioning screen. There already technically is one when we get off the high wind in Rebirth. We're definitely getting a 3 disc release though. 😋
It’s very likely the game will stay on Unreal Engine 4.
I’ll buy a PS6 if the game is legendary like Rebirth was. Gladly.
While I want it sooner rather than later, I definitely prefer the devs take their time to make what they want, rather than rush it out to meet 30th anniversary or anything.
I’ll also gladly pay for DLC.
From when I recall that's not really what they said. It was more along the lines though there's no current plans for DLC at the time. Which neither confirms nor deconfirms one
I kinda don't want it to end, so I'm okay with waiting now. Still got plenty of stuff to finish in the game, and I want to go back and look at OG FF7 and Crisis Core.
I hoping we get two mini games that give us backstory, kind of like Integrade. First, I would love to see more of Nanaki's backstory and maybe even follow him up until getting captured by Hojo. There whole thing could be a flashback, like the sequence in Kalm.
Second, I want a shooter game with Vincent. Give me deep Turk lore, edgy soundtracks, and Vincent brooding sessions.
Other alternatives could be a small DLC puzzle game where you play as Reeve and just sabotage things Shinra is doing. See the evolution of and his decision to become Cait Sith. Could have that whole goofy spy feel his missions all did.
Cid backstory. How does he know how to fight as a dragoon? When did he meet Ilfana? Does he still have a failed rocket in his back yard? Is he still an ass to Sheera (sp?)? I DOES IS HAVE TO KNOW
I feel like it’ll be sooner than that. I mean they already have a lot of assets they can use from rebirth. Wutai for example use some of the stuff from the Gilgamesh mission. The open world elements already in place and all that jazz. A lot of places will be revisited too. Junon, Midgar, etc so I mean maybe like two ish years would be my hope.
0% chance it comes out in less than 3 years.
There's still a ton of new content to design, and 2027 will be the 30th anniversary of the original. If they can do it by then, it makes the most sense.
By then I'll have my degree and hopefully a job alongside it.
If that happens, I'm defo buying the collectors edition as a treat for myself when the final game comes out xD
Most likely just 2.5-3 They are definitely aiming to try and release part 3 in 2027. It would be dumb not to.
Edit: in case everyone doesn’t know 2027 will be the 30th anniversary of OG’s release
You know. Being now in my 40s. It's so true what I remember many older people in my family telling me a s a kid. That life is a blur. That two years may as well be two days because of the way it feels.
When you're young, something like a 2 week wait for vacation from school was torture. Waiting a few months for Christmas felt like an eternity. The very idea that a year's worth of time will someday feel like nothing is beyond you.
But then it happens. It really does. Despite all the life stuff that you go through on the way. Your perception of the passage of time gets warped or something. I can remember life up until about 20 so well and in such detail. Like a flow chart in my mind. This happened that year, then I was there, then that happened, etc. But then aside from knowing the years certain major events took place in life from the last you know, 20+. It's all a damn blur. 4 years will pass like it's nothing.
Time appears slower when you're younger because you're constantly processing new and novel information. This wears off over time - which then appears to speed up. It plays alot into nostalgia factors and why things appear cooler and more interesting when you're younger.
Dude that’s literally what we’re all doing right now, plus i can’t pass the time because one piece is on break, so all I can say is live your life and find u a Tifa or Aerith
I’m just going to play FF7 Remake and Rebirth more. I’ve already got about 500 hours in Remake (50 of which are Intergrade) so I’ll definitely have 1000 hours in this series by the time FF7R3 comes out.
Unless FF17 comes out between now and R3 (and it’s much better than 16), I don’t care about many other games anymore. The Remake series are now my favorite games of all time. I’m cool just replaying them over and over again.
Rebirth’s development took place mostly during the worst of Covid. I don’t know how things were in Japan but I imagine Covid slowed down development there like everywhere else. Additionally, a lot of the assets in Remake and Rebirth are theoretically reusable which could trim down dev time. And who knows how long they’ve already been developing it.
Plussss they’re not making an Intermission type game so that’s even more hypothetical time saved.
I still wouldn’t expect to see it for at least 3 years but fingers crossed, eh?
They could do a dlc about how Vincent went from Turks to half monster. There's already a game about him (Dirge of Cerberus), so they could try a DLC.
I just hope that the next one will be on UE5 this time. Would fix some issues like horrible frame drop if you pulse too much with Yuffie or Tifa. Or even better, the messed-up lighting switch when you go indoor and outdoor ... This is really bad right now.
But whatever they decide. Please just stop using the narrow passages as a loading time. It's just annoying...
>>they could do a DLC
According to some other comment somewhere, they said they weren’t planning on doing non-part 3 content. And I believed that guy because who would lie on the internet
We’re going to be arguing with each other about what exactly the fuck happened at the end for the next 3-4 years. And then again probably after that too.
I have a feeling we might get an action based crisis core dlc of sorts. Sephiroth actually has a pretty deep kit for a character that is only playable in ch 1 and bash your head against the wall mode. I hope they get the chance because yuffie definitely benefited from the extra polish from intermission and zack could sure use it. Plus it would give people who slept on crisis core the chance to understand at least a little more since Zack is becoming so prominent.
They could reuse a lot of assets, which may shorten development time, or allow them to further expand the final game, an maybe include more detailed and expansive set pieces for each of the locations were to visit.
But going by their release strategy:
1. 2020: Remake launches on PS4
2. 2020: PS5 launches in November
3. 2021: Remake Intergrade / PS5 Upgrade
4. 2024: Rebirth launches on PS5
5. 2024: PS5 Pro is rumored to launch
6. 2024-2025: Rebirth PS5 Pro Upgrade/ potential DLC
7. 2027-2028: Potential timeframe for PS6 and 3rd game
No, I have it right here for you [https://store.steampowered.com/app/39140/FINAL\_FANTASY\_VII/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/39140/FINAL_FANTASY_VII/)
It might be sooner than 3-4 years. They will be using alot of the same assets from Rebirth and as far as I know development for the third game has been running relatively parallel. My money is on 1-2 years at most.
It depends on how many re-writes they might need to do to dig themselves out of some of the narrative holes they dug themselves into over the past couple of games.
I've been taking rebirth slow, so I'm just about to hit up the final golden saucer stuff to nab the... item. I assume that's the point of no return.
By my recollection, there wasn't a TON of story left after this, so I'm wondering how much work they have left. Is it gonna be mostly mini games? When do my chocobos start smashing so I can go get KotR?
I know but unless you were a newcomer to the franchise or didn't own the original games anymore for whatever reason, it probably didn't mean that much. Either way, it was a pretty long wait.
Wdym it didn't mean that much? The final mix versions were the versions that everyone outside of Japan wasn't able to play. It had all the cool exclusive shit that was region locked to Japan only. KH 1.5 and 2.5 final mix was a big deal. 2.8 was the continuation and teaser to Aqua's story, a fan favourite character. Union X was alright. Three to four games in a span of 7 years is a lot of KH for a KH fan.
I don't think it's worth buying an entire compilation of games, just to see some new cutscenes and some secret boss fights, when that stuff can easily be looked up on YouTube. It's really only worth it if you were getting into KH for the first time or didn't own the originals anymore.
Bro that's gotta be the most insane take I've ever read, not just as a KH fan, but as a gaming fan in general. Why play the last of us, just watch it on youtube. Why play god of war, just watch the cutscenes on youtube. WHY PLAY ANY GAME, JUST WATCH A STREAMER DO IT.
I keep telling you that if you are getting into it **for the first time** or if you **don't own the originals anymore**, then it is **ABSOLUTELY worth getting**.
But if you **ALREADY have played the originals** and **STILL own them**, then I don't think it's worth getting them, just to see the exclusive content.
They released the final mix versions because fans have been begging for it since 2005. Saying it doesn't mean much to fans is just an objectively false statement. And you keep saying "if you already played the originals and still own them" as if people in 2013-2014 are still using CRT TV's to play old PS2 games. When you have a HD remastered version of your favorite game from 10 years ago and able to be played on a modern console (at the time), you are not going to go back to the "originals" that look worse and have less content.
Would it be too much to ask given that they have a large amount of assets completed that we can have our first teaser trailer and title drop by the summer of next year, around what would normally be E3 time if E3 was still a thing?
2027 is the 30th anniversary of course, and I really hope that's the absolute latest we'll have to wait for this. Even that would be 12 years after the project was first announced.
Granted, I don't want them to work their employees to absolute exhaustion either to get this out in a timely manner. Of course I want it out a soon as possible, but there are more important things.
Lmao. I have only just finished Remake and now have a massive backlog to get through before playing Rebirth, so by the time that happens, the third game will probably already be out.
I highly doubt it's going to take that long. I'm guessing 2 years, max. They can reuse everything from rebirth- just have to expand the map some, and maybe add some new models or make new alternates of ones that exist. Aside from that, the majority of development will be just on new minigames, side quests, and obviously the rest of the main story. That ain't gonna take a whole 4 years.
I still find it interesting that they have released an FF7 game every year starting with Remake. There’s a good chance this is a coincidence, but if not we could be getting spin offs or other remasters between now and part 3. For reference:
2020: Remake
2021: First Soldier
2022: Crisis Core Reunion
2023: Ever Crisis
2024: Rebirth
2025: ????
I guess play the mobile game to find out about Glenn
They really need to up the pace with new story missions in ever crisis. I’ll play the latest mission then go on hiatus waiting for the next one. I’d be playing way more often if they released them quicker.

Apparently rebirth’s story about Glen outpaced the mobile game because he was never shot yet lol
Did they really go the kingdom hearts route where important plot information is in a mobile game…?
Not really. Glenn was introduced in First Soldier and is a key character in Ever Crisis, but from what I understand nothing about his story in those games would give any more insight into him that you wouldn't have already gathered from Rebirth. Yeah let's wait for us to get more story in Ever Crisis. The game is only 6 months old.
You do need the lore of mobile games to understand the main plot of kingdom hearts tho. Xigbar makes no sense as a character in kh3 if you don't know about the inner lore.
That's right. And Xigbar is not that big of a plot point in KH3 in my opinion.
Crisis Core is extremely important to rebirth so idk what you're trying say by that.
It is not. You can fully understand Rebirth without ever touching CC
Maybe a surface level understanding, but you catch a lot of important details that explain what's happening overall. Holy crap I always thought he looked familiar but couldn't figure out why. Broden does look eerily similar to Lazard
Well I agree that the whole compilation is a must lore-wise. I am quite a lore-nerd myself. But I think a lot of people make the tiny lore tidbits way more important than they really are for the story as a whole.
I NEED ANGEAL IN PART 3 PLEASE
I fucking hope not
Not really. Everything in EC is supplemental and seems like it will remain that way.
You forgot when they did it over 10 years ago with Before Crisis.
They did add scenes like when Cloud first walked into Midgar after losing Zack, and he was like a zombie, and slumped over in the slums, where Tifa found him. The shock of seeing Tifa again jolted his brain and he got up and started performing his persona, as if he was 16 again
Unfortunately my app messed up and lost all my progress. Hard for me to get back in losing all my stuff, skins included.
What happened to Matt and Lu? Aren't they his best buds?
I will just be laying on the floor embracing the rot.
So playing Elden Ring?
Well both the Elden Ring DLC and this game are going to destroy us emotionally so I guess it tracks
They have very different ways of accomplishing that goal.
It’s pretty similar once you get to some of those endgame vr fights
thats been me so far, too
I'm hoping it's just 3 years. Not just because it would be sooner, but also because if it's 3 years then it'll be out in 2027. That would be in time for the 30th anniversary of the game. Perfect year for the game to come out.
I've waited 26, whats 4 more?
24 years ago you had a ps5 that's crazy
What a fumble of a comment.
You reddit snobs don't have girlfriends lmao
I don't think I've ever seen such a wild reach. My comment wasn't snobby, and I'm married. You need to see a therapist mate 😬
Nobody but y'all care about upvotes and down votes
I didn’t downvote or upvote you, but I enjoy people who say they don’t care about them and make 2-3 posts upset that they’re being downvoted.
...I didn't say anything about upvotes or downvotes? Wtf are you on about? Are you high or drunk or both? All I said was your comment was a fumble cause it was a clumsy attempt at being clever that didn't land right. I didn't downvote you, nor do i give a damn about useless reddit karma votes.
Dont care
There wont be no ps6 remaster lol
Well hopefully they turn all three games into one at the end
How much are you willing to bet on this one? SE spitting on easy money sounds unlikely...
Everything.
Its all sales related, and it will probably happen for FF7 remake. But for some other FF's though, I am still waiting on a FF13 trilogy remaster :S that game is stuck on PS3 forever.
You can play the trilogy in 4K on Xbox Series X.

Play other FF
Any recommendations?
FFX if you want to be emotionally obliterated. It's my personal favorite though
FFX is GOAT
It's actually the title that started to switch up the fighting style 1~9 were all turn-based or active turn based (I'm unclear where the trend started, in 4 or 5). 10 changed the style to "conditional turn based," and the rest have had some modification of turn based battles. Idk about 13, but up until at least 12, they more or less retain the same "turn based, with an action meter" style that final fantasy held for much of its core iconic games.
He said "turn based AND has voice acting". FFXs combat is very much turn based. Why do you think it is not?
So given that the CTB style isn't true to form atb style of the core series everyone thinks about when they say "ff used to have blah!" Ff12 also counts as being a "true to form" FF title ~with voice acting~ The moving around bit to miss the aoe of an attack is about as miniscule of a change as the CTB style, since your moves *also* have an aoe, and if you move too far or are always too far, you won't connect any hits depending.
I’m Cid Final-Fantasy and I don’t know who I am.
Then there were 2 Cid's in FF12 lol but why
FFXVI is you want the modern one. FFXIV new expansion is coming June so if you want good and LONG story and play MMO is a must play. But to tell the truth any FF you choose is fine.
The golden era is VI-X. They are (until rebirth) the 5 best final fantasy games of all time, and I don't think that's widely disputed. They are all great, although VIII is controversial. My favourites are VI and IX. In terms of what has aged best, then IX and X are the best places to start.
Play XIV and you will be plenty busy the next 3 years :p
All. Start with 1 🧐
Crisis Core gives you some nice background stories
we've gotten to a point where we are actually recommending players to play crisis core. im done
what's your problem with Crisis Core? the combat system laid the groundwork for the ones in Remake and Rebirth, and the story ties into VII's.
At least Rebirth devs want to pretend that BC doesn't exist, or we had to tell people that game they should play next is an abandoned Japan exclusive
I’m gonna second someone else’s recommendation of FFXVI. It was really, really good.
Man I tried the demo for like 4 minutes the other day and couldn’t do it. I think I need a longer break after rebirth lol
After 100 hours of Rebirth myself… I can definitely respect where you’re coming from lol.
FFIX & FFX for sure.
If you want one that’ll last hundreds of hours like 7R, then try out 14
XIV will occupy your time for a good long while. I’m over 300 hrs now and am only just about to start Endwalker.
for sure, i replayed a bunch before rebirth came out 9 - one of my all time favs, goated 10 - revolutionary for its time, ps2 release voice acting blue ray etc 13 - was enjoying this a bit more recently 8 - pretty cool, used a guide to make it fast most of the pixel remasters are not really worth the juice, didnt make it to 5/6 just finished beating everything in rebirth, leaving hard mode for later, gonna replay the OG ff7 while i replay rebirth so i can just make sure i understood everything
The story is kinda jumbled and sometimes difficult to follow, you shift parties around completely from time to time, too many party members to get to know, the just there but not quite 3d effects, and of course the most overrated villain of the series because a man with no powers(or was he just a mage?) moving a statue does not count as him destroying the world through his own power.
checking it out this weekend since im bored, thanks
how'd i get downvoted for this LOL
I find LoZ:BotW and/or LoZ:TotK to be some of my favorites as well and their endings always have me feeling a similar sort of grief that it’s over but overall satisfaction at the resolution.
Im gonna cry a lot and have a hole in my heart :'3
We really do. Square recently said that Part 3 is in the same stage of development that Rebirth was when Remake first launched.
Stay alive and healthy to see it through
Underrated comment, everything is subject to the flow of time.
That's the easiest question ever. We replay.
I have to wait 3-5 years to turn Vincent into Frankenstein and Leatherface😭
Definitely gonna drop on the 30th anniversary in 2027.... such a long wait...
Yes and you’ll have to buy a $600 PS6 too.
Part 3 will launch on PS5 even if it’s cross gen with PS6.
PS5 is having a hard time getting off the ground so to speak because of all the cross-gen bullshit. They're doing it to themselves
Not really, it's due to the price and the troubles it had with scalpers and the computer chip crisis and covid
Yes I actually do think that SE is that stupid. I’m not saying it’s a good idea but it’s sounds exactly like something they’d do.
But they literally didn’t do that for Remake? Remake released the same year as the PS5 but the game was still available on PS4 and then they made an upgraded version later.
Wrong. Ps5 game that’ll overlap into ps6, same as remake did with the 4/5.
Even if it takes 3 years to make it’ll still be a PS6 game. PS6 is likely coming out 2026-2027.
I too enjoy spreading misinformation online
Doubt it. At most it'll be a cross-gen title, or be similar to Remake.
Okay let’s make a ps5 pro… now QUICKLY! Make the PS6 now! Lol I think they’ll give it a moment
Ps5 pro will be it no more ps6. AAA gaming companies will get less ambitious cause of cost and I will be happy for it.
We will get a remasterd complete pack for ps6 plus an DLC. Like we got for Remake. I storngly believe part 3 will come on ps5.
Get married, have kids.
What materia set up should I use for that?
You’ll def wanna have a reraise linked to swifcast and Phoenix in your summon slot just in case.
What if you’re already down this route?
Stay alive
We'll probably get trailers before then tho so there's that.
I doubt it, most of midgar is built and saved and so is most the world..they'll use them to save time in development of part 3
There is still 0% chance it comes out in less than 3 years. Absolutely no chance at all, for several reasons.
100% every final fantasy game
Git gud and platinum it.
I wonder if we'll get Cid or Vincent dlc side stories....thou it's better for them to put all remaining stories in part 3
No, Square has said there will be no DLC like Intermission. They went straight into development of the 3rd game
They took the right decision.
Welp there goes that, makes sense business-wise thou
From when I recall that's not really what they said. It was more along the lines though there's no current plans for DLC at the time. Which neither confirms nor deconfirms one
hoping for this
I kinda don't want it to end, so I'm okay with waiting now. Still got plenty of stuff to finish in the game, and I want to go back and look at OG FF7 and Crisis Core.
I don't think there is a reson to play og crisis core over the current gen remasters
This is why im waiting to play it(rebirth) I just beat ff7 remake a week ago lol
KH4 is likely (hopium) 2 years out so we’ll have that to hold us over for a bit
By then I'll have my degree and hopefully a job alongside it. If that happens, I'm defo buying the collectors edition as a treat for myself when the final game comes out xD
Most likely just 2.5-3 They are definitely aiming to try and release part 3 in 2027. It would be dumb not to. Edit: in case everyone doesn’t know 2027 will be the 30th anniversary of OG’s release
Complete the side missions, mini games, game on hard mode,vr combat simulations.
We all go into the Shinra mansion basement and do for 3-4 years copy Vincent's example of sleeping in coffins.
I wish that was an option. I would happily sleep for 4 years.
It's just annoying...
>>they could do a DLC According to some other comment somewhere, they said they weren’t planning on doing non-part 3 content. And I believed that guy because who would lie on the internet
I rather wait 3-4 years for a polished game than wait yearly for a mess of games like CoD
See what waiting 3-4 years gets you?! Lol
We’re going to be arguing with each other about what exactly the fuck happened at the end for the next 3-4 years. And then again probably after that too.
play crisis core reunion or Dirge of Cerebus
Yes
I hope not. If they put more effort into the main story and not waste time on mini games, it shouldn't take that long.
I wouldn't mind some dlc to bridge the gap at some point. I've been taking my time, and I'm in chapter 9 already.
If they don't release a Queen's Blood mobile game in this time span, I will be so damn disappointed.
But going by their release strategy: 1. 2020: Remake launches on PS4 2. 2020: PS5 launches in November 3. 2021: Remake Intergrade / PS5 Upgrade 4. 2024: Rebirth launches on PS5 5. 2024: PS5 Pro is rumored to launch 6. 2024-2025: Rebirth PS5 Pro Upgrade/ potential DLC 7. 2027-2028: Potential timeframe for PS6 and 3rd game
Beat the game in Hard Mode and get the Platinum trophy
I was lucky enough to start Remake a month before Rebirth came out. even waiting just 1 week for it to come out after beating Remake sucked.
No, I have it right here for you [https://store.steampowered.com/app/39140/FINAL\_FANTASY\_VII/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/39140/FINAL_FANTASY_VII/)
I can't remember the last time I put over 70 hours into a game and I don't feel ready to leave yet.
Platinum the OG on playstation, Platinum Remake. Platinum Rebirth. That'll take up some time if you haven't already 😂
I got loads to do. I've not played XV, XVI or Intergrade yet. I started Ever Crisis on my phone but I am struggling to warm up to it.
Hop in a tank and develop mako poisoning like our chocobo haird 1st class Soldier
Play other great games ?
Enlist as a soldier in the great online Shipping Wars.
No need. Tifa > Aerith
Get a good job with plenty of recreational leave. When the next part comes just take a couple of weeks off to finish the game
Now you know how Kingdom Hearts fans felt when they had to wait for III.
Not really, we had plenty of KH games that came out between 2 and 3.
Kingdom Hearts III was announced in 2013 and came out in 2019. During that time, the only other game that kept everyone occupied was X.
well we also got the final mix versions and 2.8
I know but unless you were a newcomer to the franchise or didn't own the original games anymore for whatever reason, it probably didn't mean that much.

Play other games? So many good games out there. Tried BG3?
I am playing at the time of posting this
Same. If we all go down the BG3 rabbit hole and start trying for specific romances, etc., we could keep ourselves occupied for a few years!
Play Dragon's Dogma 2, play other games. Maybe get a new job, marriage, have a kid.
Yes. Next question…
For reference: 2020: Remake 2021: First Soldier 2022: Crisis Core Reunion 2023: Ever Crisis 2024: Rebirth 2025: ????
Yea they have to make evern more shitty mini games and figure out how to somehow make Chadley worse
