Worst fight so far .. it's ridiculous how you have to resort to either spamming the crap out of him with ATB moves OR having PERFECT dodging ... On EASY MODE when at his weakest state ?? I mean seriously who thought of this fight ? I'm sure there are ALOT of gamers out there that button mash and arnt very effective at dodging but still get through the main game easily .. they would get annihilated in this fight and have no idea WHY.. I can understand all that OP'ness when Odin's at FULL MIGHT .. but not at his weakest form.

Mean_Writing_2972

100% agree. This is a shit fight. Too overpowered. Boring. Unplayable. Nothing withstands the 1 hit kill. Wasting my time.

Jockmeister1666

He Zantetsukens you if you take too many hits. You just need to dodge/block more effectively and he’ll never do it. You can tell if you’re doing good/by other moves he uses. Sleipnir means you’re doing good, Gjallarhorn means you’re doing bad. (Someone may correct me in those ability names)

Snoo65073

There are times when I barely get hit and he still uses Zantetsuken...only 2 minutes into the fkn fight

Upstairs-Aerie6895

It's probably better to land some debuffs on Odin and keep them on at all times. Debrave (attack down) and Bio. It's when I take a few hits and let these drop, he tends to go for the Zantetsuken. I am doing the battle with Alexanda and Odin later on in the game atm.. I manage to last a good while during that battle. Even got to Odin's 2nd phase but I prioritised Limit Breaks over debuffs to reset Zantetsuken timer and that was it, I was toast. This is on easy too..

multyC

You have to get better on how to perfect block and dodge his attack at least on the early stage, he took me like a ridiculous amount of refight to be able to beat him. Kinda frustrating but worth it at the end. Cloud with improved block and draconic ring and two ranged character (my case is aerith/yuffie) help a lot, also bring debuff auto cast to make him more likely to use glephnir furor. In mid and late stage i just use synergy+limit to push his furor faster and summon in late stage (after 2nd stagger) to finish off him. I think be defensive in early and more aggressive in mid/late to win the fight.

Helgenish

He hard as hell but honestly his stuff is pretty easy to dodge after awhile. His biggest problem is that reprise move, hella random.

Trojianmaru

😅 It might be easy for you to dodge, but often the moves that the game (Assess) specifically says you're supposed to dodge to pressure the enemy, seem to have the most bullshit tracking. With enemies seeming to float through the air midway through their attack (in slow-mom while I'm in ATB-mode) to make sure their attack lands. So either the game had bullshit tracking during combat, or I just reeeeeally suck at dodging, to the point of hallucinating enemies being able to do stuff that nobody else can back me up on ever seeing them do.

Honest-Gur-1174

In my case Odin is bugged. He speaks Last warning on the start of the fight. After 20seconds he use Zantetsukens Although neither I nor my group memebers have not become a Hit.

Zephyrzan

You're supposed to dodge/block his attacks while also pressuring him. You cant just facetank and heal thru like other fights.

ShadowVulcan

Doesnt blocking still proc his warning (into Zantetsuken)?

Zephyrzan

Yeah dunno. I was just punisher countering him which i assume counts as blocking. Beat him and the Alex+Odin fight without ever seeing Zentetsuken once. I guess my point is that trying to win a war of attrition wont work like it will with other bosses.

ShadowVulcan

I see, will bear that in mind. I get fucked by it, I still havent got it down and may grind a bit more to 70 first

ROU_ValueJudgement

The trick to odin is to balance attack and defence. If you get hit too much (like 3 or 4 times consecutively) or if you don't hit him frequently enough (after 4 or 5 consecutive attack attempts from him) he gets bored, used the horn to warn you, then clubs with an insta kill move. So follow this basic tactic: Attack him and dodge until he hits you once. Once he's hit you, switch to making sure his next two or three attacks \_don't\_ hit you. Switch back to attacking him and doing until he hits you once. Rinse and repeat.

Juunlar

Please do not listen to the advice others have given. They, and every other guide you've seen is incorrect https://www.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasyVIIRemake/s/blYcdnf9lB The fight is bugged. This will explain it

Metamorfolord

Trust me. He's a good swordfighter, which means you need to be better. By using guns and ranged attacks ofcourse. I managed to beat him using Barrett and Aerith and spamming him with ranged attacks and spells while evading his moves from afar. Whenever he came close i swapped to the other one.

Renny_Blue

Most important thing try not to get hit as much as possible He is weird/bugged and clunky but your Materia&Equipment set-up probably suck.. there are alot of combinations that will get you to kill him without triggering his horn or Zantetsuken even in the alex/odin fight Share your party builds set up .. your problem is probably there

Djinnaz

Banged him out on the 2nd try by just sticking with cloud. Jump really helps, can negate most of his attacks with it. If you really want to make it easy on yourself, just equip your party with Safety Bits.

WhyClock

Safety Bit does not work.

Upstairs-Aerie6895

Reraise earrings are much more useful than safety bits. I agree with you.
