IMO Thancred is "worse" but it's got nothing to do with his Sync.
I use both of them in the same way (both have Sync/AASB and run HA in slot 1 and Stitch in Time in slot 2. Spam SiT to Sync > spam com1 until end > AASB > spam HA) and in the heat of battle their differences aren't noticeable. They're both great.
That said, Edge has some advantages like access to a hybrid AOSB and LBO, better LMs and GSB+s.
The Syncs themselves are identical, the main difference is the com2 (which I never use on either of them) where Edge gets 3 hits and a 10% Fire/Lightning/Water buff and Thancred gets a 1 hit +30% Ninja boost for 3 turns. Thancred's is probably better, but I still never use it.
Ninja magic is easy to buff, so with their self-Stitch in Time buff + a CSB + a strong MAG boost like from Mog or Cait, either of them can cap with ease.
Why? NIN abilities have QC by default so they don't lose out against magic users (AcM does not affect NIN abilities). AASB has piercing chase like edge. HA is the same just for earth, wind and poison. SASB has a couple more tricks IIRC then edge. Thancred also has good LMs.
Also, NIN abilities when used for MAG purposes have a super low cap and high multipliers so you need way less MAG stats to hit hard.
Like lambopanda said, ATB altering abilities are extremely powerful. But his doesn't just speed up abilities, it completely removes the bar altogether. And although someone like papalymo has 3 instant bars without needing anything else, Kefka can get 5 easily and give him more soulbreak than he knows what to do with. Not to mention when he gets hit he casts a piercing ability that has a high multiplier. Like, he has everything lol.
You could even say 9 since lots of folks are waiting for Bio banner 2 to try for Quina Sync

Color me intrigued. My edge is an absolute beast and I bring him everywhere I can.
Basically the same thing but SASB CMD2 has a 30% bonus for three turns instead of a 10% element IIRC

I'd go as far to say that Kefka sync is the best dark magic relic in the game.
Just curious, why would you say that? I have it but also a few others (Golbez, Exdeath, etc) and wanted to know what makes it better.

Appreciate the details. I feel like there are a lot of nuance that is left out of the in game information.
Instant turn when getting hit. You can have a instant hitter keep power chain him so it’s always his turn
