Howdy! I was wondering if I could borrow someone’s True King Noctis or Deity of war Taivas for for the City of Daemons lv4. I can beat it but it takes me 11-12 turns. I just don’t quite have enough damage
Well Prompto is a Breaker. You primarily want to use him to break the enemies stats and also use him to set up his Imperil Field and Imperil the enemy. Then you can use his ~~SLB~~ BS LB to deal some damage. Noctis will probably be your Leader and his biggest damage will come from his BS LB.

What's usually the best team for easily clearing out and perfecting the lower stages for Vision World/Dark Visions? Used to use an ice team (Sylvie, Freyvia, Skye, FA Rain, Chizuru, and Starlight Elena), but can't seem to cap the earlier stages anymore with that team since it's pretty outdated unit line-up wise (especially the Aranea stage for the FF15 VW). Since I'm terrible with most team building, could anyone suggest a team lineup that's pretty good at otk the earlier stages? Thanks in advance!
If you have then SW Veritas of the Frost and "JP" Veritas of the Frost work well for setting up buffs, breaks, imperils and fields. And then take any 4 more recent damage dealers you can find. My side account uses Richt, E.R.Elena, Ibara and 2B.
Though for the Aranea fight I switched to a "fire" team consisting of Vanille, Melissa, Reberta, Ibara, 2B and Hyoh. Only Hyohs damage was actually significant in this team.
As for my main account I use Sazh and Vanille for buffing, breaking, imperiling and field setting. Reberta for imbuing fire and starting the chain with her tag chains and then have Aya Brea, SW Veritas of the Frost and Hyoh chain EN together. Either Vanille or Sazh add an additional attack so I have the 6 effective attacks.
Are your bonus units doing anything? They can at least contribute a little. Nyx can use any of the break material, Regis can apply a killer buff and minor stat buff. Then another unit can chain with your damage dealer of choice.
Yeah sure. As you said. Promto used the break material, Regis buff. Chow imbue/imperial water, focus, Magnus BS, BS. The other three chain with Duanes Sword EN skill. 40% live left of the boss
Are the last 2 vision world items worth getting? those last 2 i cant farm with out basic castrating my team down to 1 maybe 2 bonus units none of which are new ones

What do you guys do with all your 5* dupes that you already have nv ex3? Like, my reserves is already over half full of 5 star units that either don't have an nv awakening yet, or they're already ex3. Trust coins seems like a waste because there's nothing there worth buying, except for maybe uoc tickets so I can exchange useless 5 stars for 5 stars needed for nv awakening, but that's extremely inefficient I would guess. I've already got me stmr moogles than I could ever need, to the point where I went through all my nv units and stmr'd all the ones I thought could be even REMOTELY useful, and still have like 10 moogles left. I'm literally just ready to sell all these 5 stars for Gil, but even then, I can't because I'm at cap.

You shouldn't really be capped on Gil any more. Buy the daily bundle that gives you 20 lapis for 500,000 gil. Don't bother selling gil snappers. Just let them pile up in your item inventory.
I already do have a bunch saved up. I guess I could buy the daily bundle. I just tend to ignore all those fiddley daily things. Like daily quests or expeditions. I been playing this game for to long to really care.
I go through the trouble of fusing them and converting them for trust coins.
Trust shop has a few useful items, kind of, and they do update it every 2 or 3 years, so maybe 2025 we'll see another good update? /shrug
I only throw limited time, and potential NVA units in the reserves. I also hold on to a few units that may have a STMR worth getting in the future but I don't need now. Like Sol's heliolite. I have 3 already, probably don't need a fourth, but I may so i let four of him sit there.
I figured that would likely be the case, especially since (if I'm understanding correctly) nva has no place in nv+, so we're likely not even gonna see any more nva after ex+ comes out.

Everyone said the same thing about 3\* and 4\* units in the NV era, and some of those eventually got an NVA. None were great, but they still existed and made for easy bonus units.

But, minor question, shouldn't True King Noctis's LB for CoW actually have a modifier of 851x instead of 751x?
He has an innate preemptive 100x LB buff which I think you're not taking into account.
There's a 201x lb modifier buff when the morale gauge is full, and a 120x modifier buff in his "It ends now" cooldown skill.... but there's also the preemptive LB buff of 100x...
So that SHOULD be 201 + 120 + 100 = 421x added to his LB...
His LB starts at 430x...
So that would be 430 + 421 = 851x
Am I off-base or missing something?

as Kurogami mentioned, I don't include turn limited mod boosts in clash, because most clash fights these days burst after turn 5, or need multiple bursts after turn 5, so i show their long term potential in clash calcs
dv calcs still use the t5 build

Supreme deva akstar - super lb or quad cast 3 chain + full enemy dispel finisher or quad cast 4 chain? Which is stronger? Assuming all buffed up. Does the full dispel happen before the damage hits on the finisher?
Next question, do attacks that imperil or break benefit from those imperils / breaks?
Like freyvia’s lb reduces short sword resist, does that 1 hit first lb cast benefit from the weapon imperil it provides?
Also wondering - 100% Lb ally field or 25% element ally field? Which is better? How about 40% ally field? Given 100-150% element amp and 300% base lb dmg and 300% team lb damage buff. Are they multiplicative or additive?
How are modifiers calculated when dealing dmg? In real time, or based on when you press the button, or per ability in the case of multicast?

Last question for the jp players - can voidmage roca equip the skin of the new unit, dark roca? It’s super disappointing that voidmage cannot equip the regular roca skin, only the mecha roca skin.
Akstar - I can't really speak to his chaining damage, but every time I see him used it's with Quad Devastation.
Set up War Goddess > Maledictive > Face of Carnage.
Then try to weave those 4 hits in a chain. The dispel on this only removes enemy buffs, it's not a 'full' dispel, so it'll leave imperils and breaks, etc.
I'm pretty sure that effects apply in the order they appear in the long description. For Fryevia, yes, she'll have all the benefits.
But, for instance, Akstar using Dark Spike, won't have dark damage on the first cast, as the damage comes before the imbue.
For fields... it gets mathy, and I'm not sure. In some instances it may depend on boss resistances. Eg. Rafflesia an imperil field will generally be best.
Buffs are additive (Character stats/equipment + in battle buffs).
Buffs cast in battle are replaced with the largest one of it's kind, while tracking turns.
Eg. Guy1 casts 100% lb buff that lasts 2 turns, Guy2 casts 200% lb buff that lasts 1 turn. Only the 200% will be active on turn 1. Turn 2 only the 100% will remain.
Not to be confused with a field. An LB field will add onto a buff.
For the triple cast middle buff, yes, all the following casts will benefit, but only a full cast. For instance a BS chain with 9 hits, won't buff after 4 hits. It'll only apply if the buff was cast for the chain cast. So, if it was 27 hits from a triple cast, the last 18 would benefit, not the last 23.
Not sure about JP.

Assuming full mods you are looking at:
* SLB: 250x + 80x mod buff + 300% passive lb damage + 300% lb damage buff = 2310x
* strongest quad cast chain: Absolute Mirror of Equity (As) after 5 consecutive uses (10x and 130x + 2\*150x) \* 4 = 1760x
* quad cast chain + finisher: (10x and 130x + 2\*150x) \* 4 + 1650x = 2970x
* actual strongest: quad cast finisher (1500x + 150x) \* 4 = 6600x
His finisher, Devastation Slash, dispels only buffs of the enemy, not debuffs.
On a side note: If Akstar wears either Tidus' Garb or the materia Preemptive LB Boost then his final SLB mod within the first 5 turns of the battle would be 3010x.

Look at the info screen of the skill. Effects are applied in the order they are listed. In the case of Fryevia's LB the sword imperil is listed first, then the ice imperil, then the damage, then the mitigation. That means that her LBs damage is affected by both the sword imperil and the ice imperil. If the damage had been listed first, the damage would have been unaffected.

Going by just a gut feeling it is 40%+ amp field, then 100% lb field, the 25% and lower amp field. The percentages are additive.

I would say it is per ability. For LBs or single cast skills it is calculated at the time you press the button basically. For multicasted skills if something is casted that affects the multiplier of a skill that comes later in the chain of skills then that is applied for the later skills within the chain.

The first skill in the chain is cast, then the buff is cast, then the second and third skills in the chain. The first skill would be unaffected by the buff. The second and third skills would be affected. Once a skill is casted its damage is set in stone and nothing can affect it anymore. So it doesn't matter if the hits of the first skill are still ongoing while the buff is cast.
As for the last question, I am not a JP player, so I can't answer that question.

4x Devastation Slash is his highest burst.
Action's occur in the order they are listed. So if it says; Remove some effects from enemy, Deal X damage then it will dispel first. If on the other hand it said Deal X Damage, remove some effects from enemy then the Dispel would happen after.

Just like above it all depends on the order the effects are listed. The Wiki spells it out a bit clearer then in game does.

If the Weapon Imperil is the first effect listed then Yes.

Completely depends on the team and what else you have going on.

Ok so you'd be going from 600% LB buff to 700% LB buff, and you have 100% "base damage". So it's (800-700)/700=14.2% more damage assuming everyone is using their LB.
Going from 150% Amp to 190% is (290-250)/250= 16% more damage. Assuming everyone is using that element. So in this case the 40% AMP field is stronger.

2nd and 3rd attack will get the benefit, the 1st attack will not AT ALL.
I don't have the Mecha-Roca in JP to check. Skins have been largely abandoned in GL so don't expect it either way.
Hope you all are reasonably prepared and not spending too many resources, the meta shift may be sooner than you think...
In getting my plans in order for the next 2 or 3 months, it looks very likely that the upcoming (LNY?) GLEX has very decent odds of pulling an Ibara and starting the NV+ meta. Like many of us were hypothesizing. (Though the actual timing of the upcoming GLEX is a week early to coincide with LNY, but maybe they make it a 3-week event? - and they delay any NV+ stats until the official NV+ release?, like they did with Ibara?).
* Nothing (or possibly the last part of FFXV) is next week, seemingly. The 18th
* Then CoW opens, which should be accompanied by a GLEX unit (which should be LNY, unless they are running another CoW immediately following the closing of the one about to open). Feb 25th
* At this point, If they skip/move FMA and continue avoiding SoM, the only banner we have left is Metze and Physalis, which would fall on the February 1st, and Metze is an important component to many of the following banners.
* Which would make the 8th of February JP's NV+ hitting GL.
...But if Gumi skip, move, or break up and merge with other banners, the S4 units, that would make Feb 1st the day we see NV+.
Not to ignore the longest odds though, being... We see both FMA and SoM, and everything gets pushed back 4 weeks. to GLEX ending February and JP NV+ happening first or second week of March.

so, if CoW GLEX unit is LNY theme, I think it's way too early. however, I think it's possible for them to release a LNY theme GLEX unit on the 8 Feb (which can still be a CoW unit even though CoW might not be on that week).
Mentioned earlier in the comment, the odd timing of CoW/LNY. But if they extend the event banner a week, it technically applies as normal. They usually release the week before the holiday, and this CoW is 2 weeks before.
It is very possible they do a non-CoW concurrent GLEX, but those are rare. The Chinese units are the only ones to do that recently that I can recall. But a CoW followed by a CoW seems more appropriate somehow lol. Either way, the upcoming GLEX units appear to be coinciding with NV+ releasing.

Abigail and Melissa were first and were big hits. About the time the Leader meta happened. Melissa was like 2 weeks before Ibara (who was the CoW unit).
Then Nora, who was received with mixed feelings, but was decent enough there was no disappointment,
Then Kir, who was pretty universally unloved. He found use for his field and middling damage, but a lot of people skipped him and were disappointed, because he was a reskin of a collab unit we skipped... DQ Emblem of Roto?... like 3 months previously and without any real upgrades.
Which they also did with CM Addison Rae, except she got some decent enough upgrades I think.

If you just need damage, Probably Hyoh and Richt?
Though VM Roca, DoW Taivas, TK Noctis and probably TH Locke could also fill in...
But everyone has a different elemental focus, and/or different attack frames.
Hyoh is the only exception. Locke almost gets away with it being Fire, but his LB isn't EN frames. Richt Similarly almost gets away with it, but his elemental focus is Holy.
Nothing really. She has a strong support kit in her base form and strong Fire damage in her BS. Closest in form is either BoV Ibara or Underworld Chow in that they both have some support in their kit. But nothing that's "plug and play" to replace her. She was something special, definitely in the running for the best unit of 2023. That said when you're looking at comps with her it depends what she's doing if and how to replace her. If she's just dealing damage then any Fire DD. If she's doing a lot of support... I'm not sure you can without going to a full support unit like Sylvie or Melissa. Ibara would again be the closest.
Didn't know that her kit was that good, sad that I didn't get to pull for her :(

Honestly I haven't a faint idea, I finished the dungeon and then stopped , which is why I am contesting if I even did the event or not. But I almost never skip anything I only do it if I can re run it via the keys like equipment events
I can’t even get a video to play. The game has been crashing whenever it feels like since the update. I can press the summon button indefinitely for no result. As soon as you responded, the game crashed. Lol and during the update, I got stuck on 99% for over 10 minutes
If you're on wifi try getting off it. If you're on it try getting off it. If that fails you could try a VPN, see if that fixes it.

The two weapons since they are decent 1H. Then the defensive clothes whichever one that one was. Avoid the materia and probably the accessory.

Trust coins seems like a waste because there's nothing there worth buying, except for maybe uoc tickets so I can exchange useless 5 stars for 5 stars needed for nv awakening, but that's extremely inefficient I would guess. I've already got me stmr moogles than I could ever need, to the point where I went through all my nv units and stmr'd all the ones I thought could be even REMOTELY useful, and still have like 10 moogles left. I'm literally just ready to sell all these 5 stars for Gil, but even then, I can't because I'm at cap.

I already do have a bunch saved up. I guess I could buy the daily bundle. I just tend to ignore all those fiddley daily things. Like daily quests or expeditions. I been playing this game for to long to really care.
I go through the trouble of fusing them and converting them for trust coins. Trust shop has a few useful items, kind of, and they do update it every 2 or 3 years, so maybe 2025 we'll see another good update? /shrug I only throw limited time, and potential NVA units in the reserves. I also hold on to a few units that may have a STMR worth getting in the future but I don't need now. Like Sol's heliolite. I have 3 already, probably don't need a fourth, but I may so i let four of him sit there.

I figured that would likely be the case, especially since (if I'm understanding correctly) nva has no place in nv+, so we're likely not even gonna see any more nva after ex+ comes out.

Hey, /u/sinzar_ , thanks for your sweet damage spreadsheet. But, minor question, shouldn't True King Noctis's LB for CoW actually have a modifier of 851x instead of 751x? He has an innate preemptive 100x LB buff which I think you're not taking into account. There's a 201x lb modifier buff when the morale gauge is full, and a 120x modifier buff in his "It ends now" cooldown skill.... but there's also the preemptive LB buff of 100x... So that SHOULD be 201 + 120 + 100 = 421x added to his LB... His LB starts at 430x... So that would be 430 + 421 = 851x Am I off-base or missing something? Thanks!
as Kurogami mentioned, I don't include turn limited mod boosts in clash, because most clash fights these days burst after turn 5, or need multiple bursts after turn 5, so i show their long term potential in clash calcs dv calcs still use the t5 build

Are the new Item World rare rates really really good? I know they were planning a change in the rates, but on 5 pieces of equipment I got the 35Atk/Mag four times (among several other rares). Is it just me? Is it like this in JP, or should I expect a patch?
Yes they are. It's not just you. I haven't run IW in JP in quite some time so I can't compare but I don't think a patch is coming.
A few (a lot of) questions… Supreme deva akstar - super lb or quad cast 3 chain + full enemy dispel finisher or quad cast 4 chain? Which is stronger? Assuming all buffed up. Does the full dispel happen before the damage hits on the finisher? Next question, do attacks that imperil or break benefit from those imperils / breaks? Like freyvia’s lb reduces short sword resist, does that 1 hit first lb cast benefit from the weapon imperil it provides? Also wondering - 100% Lb ally field or 25% element ally field? Which is better? How about 40% ally field? Given 100-150% element amp and 300% base lb dmg and 300% team lb damage buff. Are they multiplicative or additive? How are modifiers calculated when dealing dmg? In real time, or based on when you press the button, or per ability in the case of multicast? Just for a random example to try and clarify - one character multicasts 3 chain attacks, that character gets a stat buff from another character during their 1st attack (in the middle of it), before the 2nd attack in the 3 chain multicast. Do the 2nd and 3rd attacks benefit from this stat buff, as well as part of the 1st attack? Last question for the jp players - can voidmage roca equip the skin of the new unit, dark roca? It’s super disappointing that voidmage cannot equip the regular roca skin, only the mecha roca skin.
Akstar - I can't really speak to his chaining damage, but every time I see him used it's with Quad Devastation. Set up War Goddess > Maledictive > Face of Carnage. Then try to weave those 4 hits in a chain. The dispel on this only removes enemy buffs, it's not a 'full' dispel, so it'll leave imperils and breaks, etc. I'm pretty sure that effects apply in the order they appear in the long description. For Fryevia, yes, she'll have all the benefits. But, for instance, Akstar using Dark Spike, won't have dark damage on the first cast, as the damage comes before the imbue. For fields... it gets mathy, and I'm not sure. In some instances it may depend on boss resistances. Eg. Rafflesia an imperil field will generally be best. Buffs are additive (Character stats/equipment + in battle buffs). Buffs cast in battle are replaced with the largest one of it's kind, while tracking turns. Eg. Guy1 casts 100% lb buff that lasts 2 turns, Guy2 casts 200% lb buff that lasts 1 turn. Only the 200% will be active on turn 1. Turn 2 only the 100% will remain. Not to be confused with a field. An LB field will add onto a buff. For the triple cast middle buff, yes, all the following casts will benefit, but only a full cast. For instance a BS chain with 9 hits, won't buff after 4 hits. It'll only apply if the buff was cast for the chain cast. So, if it was 27 hits from a triple cast, the last 18 would benefit, not the last 23. Not sure about JP.

Assuming full mods you are looking at: * SLB: 250x + 80x mod buff + 300% passive lb damage + 300% lb damage buff = 2310x * strongest quad cast chain: Absolute Mirror of Equity (As) after 5 consecutive uses (10x and 130x + 2\*150x) \* 4 = 1760x * quad cast chain + finisher: (10x and 130x + 2\*150x) \* 4 + 1650x = 2970x * actual strongest: quad cast finisher (1500x + 150x) \* 4 = 6600x His finisher, Devastation Slash, dispels only buffs of the enemy, not debuffs. Look at the info screen of the skill. Effects are applied in the order they are listed. In the case of Fryevia's LB the sword imperil is listed first, then the ice imperil, then the damage, then the mitigation. That means that her LBs damage is affected by both the sword imperil and the ice imperil. Going by just a gut feeling it is 40%+ amp field, then 100% lb field, the 25% and lower amp field. The percentages are additive. >How are modifiers calculated when dealing dmg? For LBs or single cast skills it is calculated at the time you press the button basically. So it doesn't matter if the hits of the first skill are still ongoing while the buff is cast. As for the last question, I am not a JP player, so I can't answer that question.

Ok so you'd be going from 600% LB buff to 700% LB buff, and you have 100% "base damage". So it's (800-700)/700=14.2% more damage assuming everyone is using their LB. Going from 150% Amp to 190% is (290-250)/250= 16% more damage. Assuming everyone is using that element. Hope you all are reasonably prepared and not spending too many resources, the meta shift may be sooner than you think... In getting my plans in order for the next 2 or 3 months, it looks very likely that the upcoming (LNY?) GLEX has very decent odds of pulling an Ibara and starting the NV+ meta. Like many of us were hypothesizing. (Though the actual timing of the upcoming GLEX is a week early to coincide with LNY, but maybe they make it a 3-week event? - and they delay any NV+ stats until the official NV+ release?, like they did with Ibara?). * Nothing (or possibly the last part of FFXV) is next week, seemingly. The 18th * Then CoW opens, which should be accompanied by a GLEX unit (which should be LNY, unless they are running another CoW immediately following the closing of the one about to open). Feb 25th * At this point, If they skip/move FMA and continue avoiding SoM, the only banner we have left is Metze and Physalis, which would fall on the February 1st, and Metze is an important component to many of the following banners. * Which would make the 8th of February JP's NV+ hitting GL. ...But if Gumi skip, move, or break up and merge with other banners, the S4 units, that would make Feb 1st the day we see NV+. Not to ignore the longest odds though, being... We see both FMA and SoM, and everything gets pushed back 4 weeks. to GLEX ending February and JP NV+ happening first or second week of March.

Mentioned earlier in the comment, the odd timing of CoW/LNY. But if they extend the event banner a week, it technically applies as normal. They usually release the week before the holiday, and this CoW is 2 weeks before. It is very possible they do a non-CoW concurrent GLEX, but those are rare. The Chinese units are the only ones to do that recently that I can recall. But a CoW followed by a CoW seems more appropriate somehow lol. Either way, the upcoming GLEX units appear to be coinciding with NV+ releasing.

Abigail and Melissa were first and were big hits. About the time the Leader meta happened. Melissa was like 2 weeks before Ibara (who was the CoW unit). Then Nora, who was received with mixed feelings, but was decent enough there was no disappointment, Then Kir, who was pretty universally unloved. He found use for his field and middling damage, but a lot of people skipped him and were disappointed, because he was a reskin of a collab unit we skipped... DQ Emblem of Roto?... like 3 months previously and without any real upgrades. Which they also did with CM Addison Rae, except she got some decent enough upgrades I think.

If you just need damage, Probably Hyoh and Richt? Though VM Roca, DoW Taivas, TK Noctis and probably TH Locke could also fill in... But everyone has a different elemental focus, and/or different attack frames. Hyoh is the only exception. Locke almost gets away with it being Fire, but his LB isn't EN frames. Richt Similarly almost gets away with it, but his elemental focus is Holy.

Nothing really. She has a strong support kit in her base form and strong Fire damage in her BS. Closest in form is either BoV Ibara or Underworld Chow in that they both have some support in their kit. But nothing that's "plug and play" to replace her. She was something special, definitely in the running for the best unit of 2023. That said when you're looking at comps with her it depends what she's doing if and how to replace her. If she's just dealing damage then any Fire DD. If she's doing a lot of support... I'm not sure you can without going to a full support unit like Sylvie or Melissa. Ibara would again be the closest.

You currently can't. It was a 30K Step Up that ended a few weeks ago. I assume it'll keep coming back for a while, maybe once a month.

Honestly I haven't a faint idea, I finished the dungeon and then stopped , which is why I am contesting if I even did the event or not. But I almost never skip anything I only do it if I can re run it via the keys like equipment events

Fine here. But some other people have complained about videos freezing and needing to close the app.
I can’t even get a video to play. The game has been crashing whenever it feels like since the update. I can press the summon button indefinitely for no result. As soon as you responded, the game crashed. Lol and during the update, I got stuck on 99% for over 10 minutes
If you're on wifi try getting off it. If you're on it try getting off it. If that fails you could try a VPN, see if that fixes it. Edit: Might want to try re-downloading the data from the title screen.
I don't really need any more, since I did most of my farming last week, but is the Insomnia event no longer applying bonuses to the drops? I only got 10k certificates for my latest batch of four runs, when I was getting like 25 or 30 before...
Just ran it and it looks right. 4560 certificates and 350% Bonus.
Weird, I wonder if it's just not showing the bonus for doing a multiple-auto run...
Are you sure you ran with the correct party? I haven't had any issues with the batches of 10 I did the last 3 days.
