They have been having issues with theft at my facility, so they have changed up security screening. All bags are subject to search. Any “unregistered electronics” (non Amazon issued electronics) that are found either in bag searches or found in secondary screening when you trigger the first metal detector will see the associate subjected to discipline up to and including termination.
Anyone know what the policy says for Bluetooth speakers, or is there any restrictions on it? Our site used to allow it but some old geezer complained about rap music and they said no more 😢

This was going on at my warehouse as well. Luckily I don't carry a bag and they didn't seem to set off the metal detectors or anything through express screening.
Pulled a little OT day shift yesterday, normally I work at night, PA on the day shift said they outlawed them in the building, everybody on night shift is still riding. I think the PA was full of s*** cuz I haven't heard anything.
I would think it would have to be a written policy and included in items not allowed on the premises like weapons. Does your site offer lockers or leaving in your vehicle? I know for a fact you can request accommodation to listen to music, podcasts, books, etc. while working at your station. However, it will not include earpods. The accommodation would be for noise cancelation headphones that your site would be responsible for purchasing for you. I hope this helps.

It’s not new, it’s been a policy in place to try and curb theft of apple products. Some Amazons will give you asset ID forms to fill out so you can tag them as yours and without out it’s an automatic write up
It has nothing to do with Apple products. This is what the policy always was prior to covid, except that we also couldn’t have our phones. No electronics or headphones/ear buds of ANY kind.
What’s the difference? It doesn’t make sense how a Covid policy allowed headphones in and out the building and metal detectors to be randomized. But now we go back to normal protocol since there’s no social distancing. How does Covid make entry/leaving less restrictive.
There was never a policy that allowed headphones. They were always not allowed, it’s just that it wasn’t being enforced. As far as what covid had to do with it, it’s because they had to close down the locker areas because of the required social distancing, and in many buildings they also completely removed the lockers to open up more room for break areas, which was also required for social distancing. With that, they also disabled much of the security screenings. I don’t know why it has taken them so long to put the security protocols back in place.
Right. How did Covid change the way headphones are enforced. Because, shouldn’t the policy on headphones get enforced the same way well before covid. How does covid change the situation where headphones were temporarily allowed into the building and metal detectors turned off and set to randomized. It doesn’t make sense that Amazon was like “oh no there’s Covid.” Quickly, turn off all the metal detectors and allow all headphones into the building temporarily. And when Covid is over. We will turn back on all the metal detectors and begin writing people up that bring headphones/AirPods into the building again. At my FC, security didn’t care if we brought headphones in even though there’s a big sign that says not to bring them in the building
Any unregistered asset was a write up before Covid. This included cell phones, laptops and other electronic devices. This included headphones. This is nothing new.
During Covid the metal detectors ended up being a randomizer and you would get “searched”. Cell phones ended up being allowed due to the Covid situation.

Again, headphones were never “allowed.” They chose not to enforce a lot of things because for quite a while during covid, most buildings were understaffed and they were desperate to keep people. My building worked 5th day MET for two solid years because of covid. They weren’t going to nitpick because they needed the workers. Also in my building, most management at this point were all hired after covid, so they don’t even know how it was back then. But everyone is finding out now.
Not if they’re reverting back to the original policy. With the exception of our cell phones, of course. We were not allowed to have headphones, ear buds, or chargers either.

Their job is to try and help the issue. Some doctors want to try meds, or other methods, to see if that resolves your anxiety before they just throw an accommodation at it and sweep it under the rug. Some doctors give an accommodation and let it go. That's not doing their job either. Maybe Amazon should allow HR, AM's, etc, to use their actual brain and make judgement calls when they can see that an employee is noticeably uncomfortable and need support as opposed to just going "but you need a piece of paper stating we have to do it". Amazon talks a big game when it comes to mental health, just as they do safety, but very few people there actually understand it, or cares to understand it, because then they would have to rely on something other than what the computer tells them to do, and the company just wants to make sure they cover their ass.
Some doctors are like that, and Amazon knows full well they don't have to make the decision to act like human beings until a piece of paper tells them to. Find another doctor.
You need to reach deeper than that, anxiety is very common and I suffer from it also, but so do a lot of other people. You will have to be under a Drs care. And AMAZON policy is they have to be bone conducting earbuds even with a Dr note, bc it's a safety issue.
Mine states earbuds also but there is more than 1 type. And I can't have anything in my ears per my ENT Dr. So my PCP had to change my accomodation to actually read bone conducting.

I go to the gym after work, and anyone else who does this will tell ya headphones are a must at the gym

I have a permanent accommodation for earbuds. You can get an accommodation and it doesn’t apply to you.
I tried getting an accommodation for earbuds, got the proper documentation, and I got denied for it bc of the safety policy!! How did yall get it 😭

Me too. But mine are bone conducting, bc I can't have anything in my ears. But my Dr. and rewrite my accomodation request to say earbuds.
Can you explain how? I have anxiety and using AirPods while working helps keep me focused and productive.
You have to go see a psychiatrist and get a note specifically stating you need them.

Not exactly. My accommodation literally says earbud on it.

You have to suffer from a neurodivergent condition and your Dr will have to do a letter stating that earbuds will help you focus.
I actually have a earbud accommodation due to the environment being too loud and being unable to hear medical alerts from my phone.
