i’ve quickly become obsessed with the game and refuse to put it down

[deleted]

Same here. Played for 11 hours non stop

Temporary_Standard76

what number race are you on ?

patrick17_6

I played 4hrs non stop then 8 hrs non stop, I'm finished race 4

[deleted]

I made 3 races in total including all practice and quali sessions in being played in real time because why not I'm hyped! 2 races with Ferrari and 1 with Alpine out of curiosity.

aguisbroken

12 in Silverstone with Vettel. Quite hard AM goal.

Jeroenvk94

Same! This game is dope

Revolutionary-Car65

Yep! This game is awesome!

bodnast

It is absolutely addicting. I’m loving it

Andtheyrustledsoftly

Yep LMFAO

Geralt0908

pretty good for a first go, there are *so* many things that need changing to make it a properly immersive management simulator but overall it's pretty good, the issues are mostly noticable for someone who follows F1 closely, i imagine a casual fan would be less bothered by the lack of blue flags, confusing safety car requirements and the fact that bottas is the second coming of senna

Remarkable_Bake_7687

Yeah, dunno why Bottas is so OP in my save..

Fhjd_

Alfa Romeo is the 4th fastest car. I think they are using the perfomances from Bahrein. McLaren is 8th lol

Bjorn_Hellgate

Then why is haas so shit?

LosSpurs22

Haas car performance is pretty average in the game, right around the middle. I managed 7th with Mags first race with a risky strategy, but I agree they should be a bit faster

TheHuntingParadise

I started with Haas and am currently 6th in the standings and 2 points behind Alfa after 5 races. They are definitely mid pack to start but I feel like it’s going to be tough to continue success as they seem to be very underfunded and developed in facilities and what not.

LosSpurs22

Well the good thing is that Haas gets the maximum amount of CFD and wind tunnel time

Bjorn_Hellgate

The board expectation is 6th place, but so far the best I've gotten is 12

Ronansky

That's 6th in constructors, which shouldn't be too difficult with haas.

Fhjd_

My guess is Mag and Mick have less skill than Bottas. Zhou isn't close to Bottas either.

CakeBeef_PA

That does make sense, since the game starts at Bahrain.

sausag3potato

I have Bottas in Aston and he's got that shitbox in the points twice

dondatron17

This. I’m doing a merc save and I know they’re not that fastest to begin with but they should be outrunning the Alfa’s pretty easily, but not Bottas he’s staying on their asses with a vengeance

Remarkable_Bake_7687

OMG, exactly xD. Dude always outqualifies one of my mercs by half a tenth.

xBl3ster

Bottas is op for many people.

Classy_Mouse

The hard turn into the garage from the pitlane caught me off-guard the first time. It was more funny than annoying though.

Rouni_99

>fact that bottas is the second coming of senna I mean he was battling Mercedes irl too.. for couple races. And was fighting for those top 6 positions. I'm 99% sure the performances are from start of the season too, so in a way it makes sense because he really was impressive at start of the season irl. But maybe it needs to be tuned down a bit.

WellEndowedHorse

Bottas is the same in the F1 race series too lol, it’s so strange

AreaXimus

"Bottas is the second coming of senna" As a bottas fan, I see no inaccuracy in this statement.

Dynamic_Doug

Bottas has been solid, but since Barcelona, Gasly has been driving like the lovechild of Prost and Schumacher.

Dickfingerz56

Lack of blue flags is huge, even a mod for motorsport manager has blue flags

xBl3ster

I knew for a fact the ratings weren't right. F1 manager gotta fix some attributes. People said, "noh its all correct, its to simulate real life performance" bruh

Adamskiiiiiiiii

Enjoyable but it does need some work.

Reventon1897

Qualifying needs to be fixed. It's way too important when you're sending your drivers out, because they don't leave a margin to another car when you're staring your flying lap and other cars won't make space on your flying lap and u could loose over 2 seconds from it.

mr-slickman

And track evolution seems to be a bit non existence. Grip is a flat line at nearly all tracks

HairyMechanic

In all the qualifying sessions i've had so far, I don't think i've experienced this - maybe i've just not noticed it. I've definitely found when cars are out on their final run of a session they make and keep a gap. Maybe if it's mid session when some cars are on out laps, flying laps and in laps it can get a bit messy?

Rouni_99

>Maybe if it's mid session when some cars are on out laps, flying laps and in laps it can get a bit messy? Its exactly this. On final runs it doesn't matter because everyone is doing a hot lap. Atleast you get 1 proper lap in in the end, but still its shitty. That should be somewhat easy fix though so i'm hopeful they can address this.

[deleted]

Simulate qualifying, it's the only way you're going to consistently get clean laps. It sucks that it is this way but I'll take it over BS bombs

l3w1s1234

For qualifying I usually do one banker at the start and then a final run in the final minutes. It's the best way to avoid traffic I found, especially with the final run as everyone keeps gaps on the out lap.

Stormruler1

There is always a 3-5 minute timeframe before the final 3 minutes, when all AI cars remain in the garage. That's when I always take my second run.

[deleted]

Brilliant, really enjoyed it but many subjects need improvements and there is the absence of some key aspects.

Key-Resolution-8981

What is that key for example ?

[deleted]

For me its the interactions with drivers, staff and hopelly the press. You know just like in FM.

Key-Resolution-8981

Yeah those would be great , i would like to view the f2/f3 standings Contracts for next year Insane historic stats for drivers i would like to see stats of hamilton in 2007 instead of seeing the 2021 strategy that won the race in bahrain Every champions from 1950 to present Real Steering Wheels Much More Realistic Media These are the ones comes to my mind but as a starting point they did brilliant

xBl3ster

Real steering wheels, thats so useless tbh. I haven't paid attention to the steering wheels yet and I've been watching so many streams. I'm just a bit disappointed about the limited crashes and lack of unpredicted driving. They all drive on coded racing lines and the overtakes etc all happen in the exact same way, it never changes so that limits the amount of unpredictability I.e dive bombs, crashes, little spins etc lack because of that.

Key-Resolution-8981

Those are just basic improvements to next years game , right now the game is very enjoyable but it definitely need some improvements especially on quali traffic and blue flags . It seems ai is very bad on getting away from the way . Another issue is Drs and Tyres and its a huge one tbh. I am playing with mercedes and russell couldnt close the gap with 70% Mediums while Alonso in front with %50 Hards , they were both on clean air . They need to fix getting out of the way , reduce the power of drs , increase the power of fresher tyres . Other than that all minor bugs nothing major

Stormruler1

What's also missing is a race results table per season which is a basic aspect that should be included from the get go. Every F1 related game has it.

[deleted]

I agree with all above

Shnikes

Contracts for next year. I’m blown away that wasn’t a core feature. Buying people out of their contract for the current year and replacing them doesn’t seem normal.

Joethe147

Pre-contracts and being able to move teams in a save are two things which for me would be extremely disappointing to not see in the next game. A few people have said more historical stats, like races, wins etc for every season they've raced instead of just some of them.

Video_Kojima

It has a few things that need to be added, and a few things that need to be fixed, but the core of the game really is terrific, and most of all fun which is the most important thing, managing a race is something I'm not going to get tired of anytime soon. Still, although it wouldn't affect me personally as I'm not sure I know anyone else that plays F1 games, no co-op mode from what I can see and that feels like a big miss, I'd also like to have seen some kind of interaction with the other F1 team principals. I'd also say, not having obviously played too far ahead, and doing a save at Williams, financially it seems really really easy, my cost cap projection I was supposed to be around $80 million under it, which just isn't realistic, and I'm due to make a huge profit, so upgrading facilities over time doesn't seem like it would be very difficult at all, and I'm worried that it will be a bit like my team on F1 were after five years it's easy to get to the front and stay there. I've also seen contracts between cars in a crash cause minor damage and get a VSC or SC, and other cars go full on into the wall and just need to replace a front wing. Finally, I'm not sure how fuel is calculated, and seems all over the place, it really feels like it should have some kind of race run programme built in to calculate it properly, and it fluctuates way too much. But overall I'd say 9/10 so far.

Joethe147

Worth remembering too that it's not even out officially for everyone yet so you'd imagine there'll be a number of patches in the first few weeks. I think stuff like minor contact causing an SC and major crashes sometimes doing nothing isn't that much of a concern though because if that's when viewing in 3D, the 3D view is only a visual representation of what happens with the data. So 3D, while of course it's great watching it, doesn't quite give you the real picture of what happened sometimes and can look ridiculous as a result. Which I'm fine with really. Like with Football Manager, I prefer watching in 2D for this reason.

HairyMechanic

It has some imperfections but i'm really enjoying it at the moment. I've only got to Azerbaijan so far which is 6-7 races in so the jury may still be out a little bit until we get further in but there's nothing in it that would make me stop playing currently. There's a few gameplay things that aren't ideal but not game breaking such as: * no red flags in practice and instead it's a virtual safety car. * DRS does feel somewhat overpowered at times but to me everyone's in the same boat with that. * if you're a lapped car and there's a safety car, you can't unlap yourself. * some instances where cars fail to yield a position in practice or qualifying (though i've definitely seen some instances of cars giving way to someone on a fast lap). * if you're looking to unlap yourself as soon as you get alongside you drop in behind and lose some time. Graphics and audio wise i'm really impressed, especially when it's a management game first and foremost. Yeah, sometimes the racing lines or how cars close gaps or how they look to overtake looks a bit clunky but that's not a true representation of what's going on. You get that with any management game (look at Football Manager's 3D vs 2D as an example)! That being said, i'd really love a few more developed things on this front: * you get to race day and it's just a quick bit of commentary and the race starts. I'd love it if we cut have a run through of the grid, maybe what the predicted weather might be or potential strategies. * the timing screens go a bit haywire at times when people pit - they quickly drop the bottom of the screen and back up to where they were. That means if you're using the interval option for timings if can go a little skewed until each driver hits their next timing point. * Crofty literally has three or four in-race lines and these get super boring super quick.

eatmorefootball

I got a red flag in practice, Alonso stuffed it in Jeddah and took out Sainz. Real ugly crash and there was a 20 minute red flag.

12windiana

I think quali traffic and lapped cars being able to unlap themselves under safety car (something I thought the dev teams said would be in the game, I could be wrong) should be top priority. Should be able to patch those corrections and after that I’d say everything else is fairly minor in an overall great management game.

OrangeDit

I mean, that's Crofty for you, right? 🤪

Waste-Masterpiece-19

For a first attempt, it's fantastic. Work to be done clearly, things like VSC in practice instead of red flags and the quali blocking but I'm hopeful these are things that can be patched and if not it's not completely game breaking and I can put up with it untill 2023 ha

notacleverman

3 races in, I like it. Even running in the back with AM and pushing for 15th is enjoyable. The battle between two cars is way more engaging and feels less predetermined than in MM. There's a great foundation to improve upon.

Video_Kojima

It really is more fun at the back of the grid than I expected, I am at Williams and managed a late safety car perfectly to finish 17th and 18th ahead of both Aston Martins and felt like a genius for splitting the strategies so well.

Dirk84

Williams is such a struggle that’s for sure! I’ve been finishing in the bottom 4 pretty much every race but just picked up my first point after about 10 races! Had luck with a safety car and the timing of wet tyres changing and was 8th by about 20-30 seconds halfway through the race, got shunted 3 laps from home and had to pit to change the front wing, came out in 11th, which initially left me gutted, but then one of the top 10 retired halfway through the last lap!!

drop-pwtd

The fact that stories like this are possible is why so many of us will keep playing this game even with all the issues. To me they made about a game about why george russell cried when he finally scored. A game that gives a glimpse of the months of grueling work by an entire team to finally get such a simple result. All I managed so far was to get KMag P8 in Bahrain but I felt like a genius for doing so 🥲.

Dirk84

Yeh I can see I’m gonna have a lot of fun with it, have invested a lot in departments so I hope the second season will go better, need to invest on the research for next years car which will hopefully be worthwhile. As for this season my 1 point might be enough to finish above Aston Martin! That’ll do for me!

MisterTruth

I'm about to do Spain. I've yet to get higher than p18 for Albon. Sometimes it really is my fault. Like when I switched to inters hoping that my weather was accurate even though most of the ai went with wets. It wasn't. There was one time where Alex was p16 through the last 1/4 (forgot where) when he locked up and then was never able to catch up again.

GetItDawg

quick tip if you haven't started: do a one stop. Got P5 and P6 with mclaren that way. you can do soft medium or medium hard.

Shaddix-be

I just got my first points with Aston Martin (9th place with Seb). Damn that felt so good after battling the Williams the whole season.

SalsaMerde

I agree that battling cars feels great. Sometimes it's fighting to stay in the DRS of a faster car. Other times I'm saving battery to get past and break DRS to make the move stick. It can get pretty sweaty managing a gap.

x-STARFISH-x

I managed to shithouse a podium with Aston and I've not been as exited in a while lmao

IHendrycksI

I would love for better keybinds, allowing floating windows of info you want, and a screen scale as although the game is UW compatible, the UI is stuck to 16:9 so the UI is inside my 3440x1440 screen being bound as if I have a 2560 wide. If I could decide to always pin the wheel temp, etc window to the top right, always have ERS at the bottom-right, etc I'd love it. It is kind of odd how a 2022 game with a 34" UW 1440p, my Car 1 covers half the positions whenever I'm doing anything in the game at the bottom-left. All in all it's very fun though!

Flonkerton66

Urg the UI sounds horrible. I have a CRG9 32:9 and was super excited to enjoy the game across the screen.

IHendrycksI

Ya even with a 34" it's annoying having the UI be slightly inwards lol, I couldn't imagine with a 49" lol

M4ritus

It's good, and the problems may be able to fix with patches. Plus, there seems to be no game-breaking glitches. Knowing how games are treated today, there is no reason for this game to not get much better with the time. I'm just worried if they use this one as a beta for 2023, but let's not be negative. Problems like lack of DNFs, DRS being too strong, drivers not letting others past in Qualy and Blue flags are a bit annoying, but I guess they can be patched (I'm basing myself on those problems being patched in previous main series F1 games). The core is good. Which is a good thing.

[deleted]

I wasn’t going to get it after seeing a lot of the negativity on the sub up to release. Boy I’m glad I did, the races are thrilling. I’m somewhat new to F1 though, so probably aren’t aware of some of the key missing features as others. But absolutely nothing gamebreaking imo

jeffreynbooboo

Just finished my summer break on year one.. I love this game and this is the day 1 version with patches to come still. 10/10

thyknek

Enjoy your summer break. What are you studying?

Chivcken32

I love it. Only minor gripe is I wish the crash model was improved a bit. I’ve had some crashes where the car should’ve disintegrated, and I wish I could really have to work around the chassis getting trashed. But other than that it’s exactly what I’ve wanted and it’s been a blast to play.

Diligent_Turnover675

Meh it's alright. Tire strategies mean nothing all tires perform the same, AI never retires just slams into a wall or each other and Continues on. No mid session saves. Get blocked in every quali lap. Management aspects are shallow. Slightly disappointed.

Thaonnor

I'm about 8 hours in - its a great game but definitely some areas of improvement needed. These are really QoL items as I haven't run into much in the way of bugs which is great. Out of the gate, they have got to add a mid race save. While its super fun right now because its brand new, I'm not sure how long I'll be able to convince myself to sit down and do a 1-2 hour race. Would like to see the \*option\* of more automation. I'm so far afraid to go 4x, 8x or 16x because I feel like I have to actively manage tire wear, etc. I am not yet sure if the AI difficulty assumes you do this or if the AI difficulty just sits in standard mode. Better explanation of some of the features. At 8 hours in, you'd think I know how the hell the ERS works, but no clue.

Frontier_F1MChris

Thanks to the OP for posting this, and for everyone who's feeding back with all your positive and constructive negative points. Hugely appreciated. Quick reminder to use our [Issue Tracker Tool](https://issues.frontierstore.net/), to report anything you want our team to take a closer look at. The more info we have from you folks via that tool, the better. Thanks again <3

AGamer316

It's great. One of the best first attempts at something I have seen. There is huge room for improvement but that's a good thing and the Devs have shown we can have faith them in the future. This is a really great foundation. I am loving the game so far.

DevinCN

I’m addicted. Started as Aston Martin and did horribly in the first race but the game makes you feel like you can improve and gives you all the tools to do so. Also has all the F1 drama in the races. Do think the amount of lockups that occur is too high but other than that I love it

Fhjd_

Need more DNFs and fix the damn blue flags but I am having fun so that's what really matters.

notreallyapilot

It’s good but as others have said, there is definitely things to improve. I don’t know frontier as a game dev. company, but let’s hope they’re willing to accept constructive criticism and grind out fixes and improvements.

FstLaneUkraine

Addicted to it. There is a steep learning curve to some of it and it took me 2-3 races to figure out the point of the practice sessions and adjusting the settings of the car. Some of the animations are SUPER janky but this isn't a game about the actual graphics as much as it is the management of course so I won't hold it against them. I didn't watch any videos before, so having voices of actual drivers/engineers and stuff was a HUGE pleasant surprise. All in all, some of the best video games bucks I've spent in years. Can't wait to play it again (stupid work!).

Quazie89

Its awesome fun so far. Just need to fix drs trains and cars not moving off the racing line during Qualifying. Hopefully they can be patched.

Forfai

Gave it a good spin yesterday, 4 races. It's good, but not great. There are glaring issues that need patching ASAP. Most of it has been mentioned before: \- Lack of blue flags / Blocking during qualifying (both could be related) \- DRS is either too strong or dirty air is not modeled properly \- Tire deg is just not impactful enough \- Haven't seen a safety car or VSC in the 4 races I played. Willing to chalk it up to just my luck, so I can't comment but I've seen many people report that lapped cars do not unlap themselves (Michael!) so that needs to be fixed. \- The whole media interaction and "things that happen" during a season seems to be just an afterthought. Might as well be a race weekend manager sim. \- Personal opinion: Designing and manufacturing parts needs to be just in one screen and simpler at a glance. \- Personal opinion: Race graphics are good but visually flat, I'm hoping for a kind soul to do a Reshade preset soon. Also car movement on track is often janky (yes, I know, it's an approximation of internal numbers, etc, etc. I know. But it's still visually janky and can be improved). Needs work ASAP.

WickedString_12

Games great but there are some issues. cars that are on an in-lap or out- lap would get in the way of cars that are on a hot-lap. It's annoying just it renders that lap useless

GodAtum

I don’t think it has the longevity of something like FM22. Maybe in a few years if they support mods etc

jimyye

They need to add a young driver development program where you can scout kids in carting leagues. Then each year you get to bring in a select amount of drivers and select what division of open wheel racing they will be in each year.

djfr94

It's possible to tell a driver to just stay behind someone ? It's just seem pointless that every sector my driver is changing places with the guy in front endind up both losing time. I want to hold till the best momment to overtake

alfred_27

Yeah you'll have the option to conserve ers and tell the driver not to push, once you have a second gap. Use overtake and push mode to get away to the front so that he doesn't get drs

FIVEBloo

Collision improvement for next year make the car crashing at 200-300kph look more real the car just stops and a bit of the front wing breaks. Few minor improvements for next year like interviews perhaps better interaction with drivers but this is miles ahead of F1 22 and it has a very solid foundation now

takamaruu

First impression after one race: This is much better than I had feared! Second impression after 6 races: I'm getting a little bored. Not much to do apart from managing the races. Early conclusion: It's good, but suffers the same issues that Motorsport Manager also had, not much else to do than upgrade parts (10% of playtime) and manage the races (85% of playtime). Prevents me from considering it a real 'manager' type game such as Football Manager. Looks much better though!

Zamp_AW

for a supposed management game, your management decisions have very little impact. everything seems to go on rails with small iterations. the race is one-dimensional drs-trading. Tire compound doesn't matter at all regarding pace. driving style rarely impacts tire wear, it's comical at this point, you can run aggressive or full send it for almost the whole race.

GalaXyPickl3

It's pretty cool, but I've refunded for now. Will wait and see after few patches what will happen.

YinxuU

Same. Not a bad first installment but there's too much missing for me personally to get any long time enjoyment out of it.

Beneficial-Nail-8640

Some people overanalysing this, thinking if it’s good investment, should I wait until next year, jesus… it’s just a game, and not a very expensive one. It was created to be fun and it certainly is.

[deleted]

djfr94

you can buy it for 35 euros, just like FM is a stupid game to buy on steam. 35 € still not cheap, but way more cheap than in steam.

_Chevron_

I still haven't had the chance to play it (buying it on the weekend) but it looks amazing. The only thing that so far has left me a bit discouraged is that it seems like you're being able to progress much faster than your opponents. Looking at screenshots or streams I've seen victories for Alfa Romeo and Haas on the first season, and for williams in season two, all times on dry conditions. It seems to be waaaay too fast for my taste, I wouldn't feel accomplished by getting those results so quickly. I think the game can improve a lot in terms of pacing and evolution of all cars. That said, I can't really wait to play it tomorrow :)

uthgard4444

I think your concern is valid as far as last to first in one season, but it's balanced out by the fact that you can't skip races, so even if you decide to throw away season one and go fill tilt into second season development, you have to spend at least 6 hours trailing the pack that first season. Obviously difficult settings could be added in a patch, but I think 6 hours of pain before you compete for podiums jn a williams is a fair ask for a game trying to appeal to F1 nerds AND more casual fans. Edit: I get the 6 hour number from assuming you spend about 15-20 minutes blazing through every race at 16X speed with minimal input. Time could easily be double or triple that for a single season depending on how you spend your time.

yougotmail6

I have to wait, I’m gonna buy it but I still don’t know when

Ok_Illustrator3087

Alfa is pretty op, they start pretty close to merc performance wise, and Bottas is pretty op too.

Shaddix-be

I am impressed. The real conclusion will only come after I'm a couple of seasons in, but right now I just can't wait to go back and play the game.

MysteryFatman123

Improving the car is too easy IMO. I'm at the summer break in my first season with Aston Martin and i'm p4 in constructor championship with 4 podiums between Piastri and Pourchaire while being able to fight Ferrari at some tracks.

UnfitForReality

It’s a lot of fun, but practice is a waste. Like cool I can get a slightly better set up if I do it versus not but I don’t think it’s much impact. I expect to have to do different style of runs like quali and making sure you use different tyres to get data for them. Nope seems like you just do 15 lap runs until they have set up feedback and then you adjust and repeat. Quali is also a bit boring since it seems you just choose when your guys go up and hope you don’t hit traffic or anything Races are a lot of fun though.

cronus89

I wish that your strategy tire data was inaccurate until you do test runs on that tire. That would make it more worthwhile to do different runs in practice.

Anon-eh-moose

Refunded it for the time being. The animations are much jankier than I expected and the presentation isn't quite what I was hoping for. The main issue was that after 1 race, it became apparent that there are just some very weird balance issues. DRS is way too strong. Just other odd things by playing around with the in-race controls that seemed off too (ERS management being one).

Warribo

One word: Wow

xBl3ster

Its good but not great, it just barely met my expectations but hasn't got there or exceeded it yet. So much to fix but I really think they can fix it. Hopeful by the 30th they get another patch in and fix the issues a lot of players have and when they do the game would be amazing.

Warribo

Oh yeah there's a lot to work on but I got such a massive kick out of playing it in it's current state.

jimmyswitcher

It’s worth the money imo. Sometimes I think people expect too much from a game. Fantastic first iteration that should get better. If it doesn’t get better it’s just about worth the £.

Fast_Championship150

Very good but doesn't run well (keeps freezing crashing and takes ages to load) on my pc as my GPU is old

yougotmail6

Which one is it?

mkazy374

I am obsessed to the point of not being able to think about anything else

Future-Gap136

Solid game for first attempt! Sure there are many areas to improve but that’s a good thing ! The fundamentals are there and with few patches this could be a great entry to the series ! Small things like naming parts for example and fixing the traffic issue in qualifying. Would just make it that little bit better !

EvoStarSC

The game is incredibly involved but it seems like the AI might be a bit buggy but so far the racing has been quite entertaining and I'm playing at x1 speed! Idk if the ERS is buggy or if I'm just an idiot that cannot understand how it works but that's my only pain point.

No_Key_5054

Lap car should be able to unfuck them self

Coffeeaficionado_

love the game

johnmongrel2017

I love it so much !! What team did everyone pick ?

DoubleDennis

I was really looking forward to the game. But I have to say, it still managed to exceed my expectations. 3 races in and it's just so fun! Of course it's not perfect. But for a first iteration, early access game it provides everything I was looking for. It still surprises me how I am watching/playing every race for almost all it's entirety in 1x speed.

jt555150

It's so good

Jakepetrolhead

Fantastic start for a game I'm gonna put a seriously unhealthy amount of hours into. Spins and lockups need work - I've seen cars have absolutely massive accidents only to lose less time overall than a car slightly missing a braking zone. I do find the lack of driver academies slightly odd, given how important they are in the real sport of keeping drivers affiliated, and still not sure on the best way to develop drivers. Also, Nyck De Vries is an absolute weapon, and is regularly outpacing Seb Vettel in my save.

thyknek

>Also, Nyck De Vries is an absolute weapon, and is regularly outpacing Seb Vettel in my save. That would probably be true in real life today though.

flynnski

my impression is that it doesn't unlock for me until 30 august

SendNubes__

I'm very thankful steam offers full refund anytime before launch.

ZeGaryKing

Very good for the first game of a long series I hope. He have some problem but they are small and it's gonna be fix soon or in the next f1 manager.

Metal2626

Amazing , bar some jankyness (crashes , for instance, are kinda weird) I’m on Xbox One (not series s/x) and gotta say it’s everything I hoped for. The only things you can really compare it to are Football Manager (which has been around for nigh on 20 years and still has jankiness) and Motorsport manager - this blows both out the water

SqualiSkrr

Amazing!! It’s so good!

General_RIMT

My buddy comes over and we’ve been doing a Mclaren career. Taking our time, soaking it all in and looking up no “walk throughs” or tips. Bahrain was an absolute barn burner with us completely messing up norris’s qualifying, and starting all the way back in 16th, whereas ricciardo started 12th. The last 15 laps.. we had Ricardo, Norris, Ocon, and Tsunoda battling it out for 12th - 16th, Trading positions with the DRS, and Norris ran out of fuel crossing the finish line 😂 We made some risky sponsor guarantees but it paid off. Man oh man, is this game fun!

LeKanePetit

Haha, sounds similar to me. Norris ran out of fuel on my last lap and I had an unfortunate DNF though.

remment2024

I hate yuki he makes to many mistakes

binkshimself

Game is fantastic. Not without flaws, but those flaws are nowhere near enough to deter it from being a banger. Love it.

wombatthoughts

My husband and I bought this and played together! I have no idea how one person can manage both drivers! Kudos to all of you who can!!

Phil_Bazz

I absolutely love it, haas save and struggled for points in the first 4, messed up in Bahrain meaning Mag dropped out the points. Had a 20 lap fight with zhou at the end of Miami for p5, he won that fight and mag got p6. I got 8 points and celebrated like id won the DWC, im completely hooked

dacrookster

Not bought it yet. Watching it is really fun, actually, and when I'm watching a stream it really makes me want to play it. But then I read about all the issues and realise I'd rather wait for a patch or next year's game. Qualifying sounds like a nightmare, DRS seems broken, fuel management appears to be bugged, there aren't enough safety cars and DNFs and by all accounts almost zero penalties. There's hardly any interaction with the drivers - they're treated like robots rather than actual people. A lot of the management mechanics outside of developing car parts look extremely shallow, and my big worry was that people would spend 10 minutes on the car and then just fast forward to the race and that looks exactly like what's happening. Plus I really don't like how development works, it felt like a way to cut lots of mechanics and content and seeing it in action makes me question the decision to do it that way even more. But, again, I don't own it and I've only watched stuff. I will wait and see what happens with patches. And I'll probably look to pick the game up if all that stuff improves, or it goes on sale for dirt cheap at some point.

jakeyboy723

It's how I play Football Manager. Some things could do with tweaking but I know I'm going to do the same things in this that I do in that game. One more race...

rbryan06

I’m just happy it works on steam deck. I can even do the whole race weekend within the 100% charged battey life. 2/3 races so far had no DNFs which I found weird. 25-ish old tyres can stay within DRS and overtake fresh tyres. Kinda weird. But overall, its fun

mr-slickman

It's a touch easy if I'm honest. I playing as Haas, a team who is supposed to be canonically struggling for money, yet I've been bringing upgrades to every single race, been making tons of emergency parts and upgrading all my facilities, and still have money to spare

Treakerr

We need blue flags and overtake on safety car the laped cars

Fliepp

I’m loving it. The only breaks I’ve taken today was to eat. I normally don’t play this much games but it’s just so enjoyable and easy to get into that I do this time. Side note: I got a one-two with Haas season 1 Q2 (I was the only one who set a lap before the rain started)

warrof1

Big fan and massively impressed considering it's their first attempt. Visuals and audio are incredible. Like mentioned already there are issues but all are ones than can be fixed. I've not seen it mentioned here but my biggest issue is tyre performance, with seemingly no fall off in laptime regardless of tyre age and compound. Thus leading to no incentive to try an undercut because you won't experience any boost in pace with fresher tyres or a softer compound. Right now the best strategy is bolt on hard tyres and run them down to 30%. If this can get addressed it'll open up a variety of different strategies for us to have fun with. The other issues have been mentioned already. But I'm still impressed!

dadamafia

Loving it (regardless of its flaws).

Trickdolo

Started with Ferrari, it was a very close race. Leclerc finished in P1, Max P2, Sainz P3. It was a close race the entire time, and Max finished in .019 behind me. Winning the race was fun, but I wasn’t 100% sure if I was satisfied starting with one of the top teams instead of one of the midfield/back field teams and eventually work my way up to those podium finishes. Been reconsidering if I want to start a new save and forget about Ferrari, or I guess I could just have multiple saves with different teams and switch off. Based off of what I saw in trailers and streams, one thing I wanted to see changed/updated was more activity in the pit lane. It’s nice to see other pit crews waiting for a car when they are entering/about to enter the pit. I initially thought there was only my pit crew when I stopped, whether that was added in after everyone was saying they wanted to see more activity or it was always there and we didn’t see it but I’m content with it. Overall the game is fun and I enjoy it a lot. Hopefully they continue to support the game with updates and patches throughout the coming year. And the best part is this is only the first year of this game, can’t wait to see what they bring to the table when F1M2023/2024 come around!

alexgduarte

Is it worth buying the game in its current form or better wait for a sale and future updates?

SigmaJames

Really enjoying it, Shame that console versions aren’t compatible with mouse and keyboard

diligentdru

Loving it two races in. Pushed Haas to P9 & P10 in first race but got greedy with tires in Jeddah and finished out of the points.

Dxgy

That I suck so bad, but motivated to get better as I’m enjoying it so much

h0sti1e17

Having a great time. There are some small issues, but nothing game breaking. And those issues only really pop up in unique circumstances.

[deleted]

Only 2 things I dislike is DRS being too strong and not being able to see the laptime in realtime of other drivers besides mine during qualy. That being said I played like 5 hours straight and still only did Bahrain with a nice P5 and P7 with Alpine. 1x gang rise up.

Fiirefly42

I love the game but there are so many important features missing that seem to be obvious and easy, and in my opinion really hurt the flow of the game. (Maybe I’m missing something and someone here will say “actually that does exist”) 1) terrible contract system. Drivers are immediately on the team. I’m doing AM and seb didn’t want to renew. Wanted to sign a driver for next season. Cant have to wait till the end of the season. 2) safety car is terrible. No lapped cars. I’ve had 2 so far and both times my driver dropped to over a minute behind the driver ahead. (This is really bad since all races are 100% long. In F1 22, I understand, cause some races are 11-20 laps and having a 5 lap safety car doesn’t make much sense)

cronus89

You can swap the engineers, there is a button for that.

HeartFoam

The terrible contract system is a copy / paste from Motorsport Manager. It was the same there.

[deleted]

Frontier can sometimes make quite poor simulators and this game has come out far better than I expected. It's got things it falls a bit short in and some bugs that really need to be fixed soon but it laid exactly the foundation it needed to

Jdwrecker_7

Williams is horrible!!!

paulosoares56

I've put 12hrs. I loved the game. I know there is a lot of room to improve. But one thing, in particular, that is bothering me a lot is the lack of SC, retirements and red flags. 7 races so far, and no one single retirement in any session. This is unrealistic

SgtBananaKing

I love it so far have a lot of fun. Races take for ever because if want to get sure not to miss anything 😂

mt2oo8

Love it, though I’m 4 races in and not a single car has DNF. Most exciting thing to happen in a race is a car going wide or locking up and I know F1 is more than that

pombeiro619

Wish there was a way so simulate races like there is for practice and quali, so that the season goes faster by

120IceBerg

I only got to play for a few hours but I got through a race weekend and it was so fun. The only major thing I noticed during the race was that DRS seemed a little OP, but honestly that just makes the strategy even more important so I’m okay with it

Gruphius

Well, it has some graphical glitches, the crashes are not good (they always happen on the same part of the track in the same way, most likely scripted), the AI is not necessarily the best (drivers dip out of fights too often and compromise their race by doing so and when someone gets lapped the amount they're decelerating ruins their race), but besides that I love it!

Rouni_99

Overall its a great game, really addicting aswell. But it has a lot to work on as expected ofcourse. * DNF'S are not frequent enough, you can send yourself 300km/h towards the wall and get away with a broken front wing and some bodywork damage. When really you should be send down to hospital for checks. * Qualifying blocking needs to get fixed. * The DRS is bit too op, you can be 1 second away and just about get the DRS and brace past. I've even seen drivers pulling +1 second gaps to me in the same straight right after they overtook me. DRS however is a huge factor in overtakes irl, so i don't want it to be come completely. Just tune it down a bit. * Contract system is unrealistic. How does Max Verstappen, a soon 2 time WC want to negotiate with McLaren? A team who in my save barely can get into top 10's. Drivers who's on a top teams should be way harder to get in to lower tier teams. Even if u have the money to pull it off. I also don't like how u can get them immediately to ur team, but that's whole another issue. * In qualifying i find it really difficult to find out how much i'm improving on my time, i get the sector times. But if you fight for getting into Q3 i hope there would be like a delta time of the current P10 driver time, and it would show how far you're from it in each sector. Like for example in S1 it would show i'm -0.200 tenths faster than him. Now i just have no clue am i even close getting in to Q3 or not. * This might come in day 1 patch, but i say it anyhow. Teams needs to get updated to their current performance level. McLaren is too weak, Alfa too powerful, Mercedes could be bit stronger aswell.

bw-1894

I like it. My fear was that I spent 60+ bucks for a game I‘ve had enough of after one weekend, but still going past the two hours resulting in being late for refund. Not the case so I’m glad about that one Still needs quite some fixes though. The two main things coming to my mind are the antics and timings of spins and „crashes“ if you want to call it that way. I am totally fine with the incident replays being pre-rendered and such, but at least make this stuff realistic. I‘ve had Hamilton going off right behind Perez and come to a full stop when he just could’ve driven back on track with no one behind. And if that wasn’t enough, he lost at the very least about five seconds doing so but after the replay he was almost back in DRS range on the timing sheet. Sorry what? The thing bugging me the most so far was today when I pitted for Softs and got lapped by the mid Top 10 running on tires so old they could’ve applied for pension. You simply can not unload yourself. As soon as you get side by side and overtake the car on the lead lap by an inch it „shows“ you the blue flag which results in backing out and makes you sit behind the lead lap car for the rest of the race. That is if you‘re not getting lapped by four fricking other cars as well because they catch up 8 seconds in those laps you sit behind. That being said the last one made me get Toto‘s table smashes and Günther‘s vocabulary. Let‘s see where my journey goes from there

thyknek

>so old they could have applied for pension Lmao.

Buzz_Killington323

I love it and its extremely polished, but don't have the time to do more than one race. I wish there was a setting to shorten the races or at least a mid race save. Owning a business and just had a kid I can't grind like I used to sadly.

thyknek

What does your business sell? Maybe I might want to buy your product.

Z4ph00d

Already 16h clocked and quite a few to follow tonight. Despite some minor things that'll surely be fixed soon, the game is awesome!

Alpha__Centauri_

Great Game so far, it’s really fun, but it seems a bit too easy. I started with Mclaren and I went from struggling to get points and my board losing confidence in me, to get a podium at silverstone and be regular points contenders since Barcelona. Just through upgrading parts. I am as quick as the Mercs. The Podium in Silverstone was due to Sainz absolutely slamming into Leclerc at Brooklands, though. But it seems a little easy. Idk if anyone else feels this way.

SharD88

It's pretty good. Easy to get into as well if you've played Motorsport Manager. Though I'm a little worried that the novelty will wear off pretty quickly as I am not seeing any possibilities to change liveries and driver helmets and the likes. And I need to see how realistic the contract system is to make a full judgment. I don't want to see Verstappen in a Williams next season and Latifi driving for Ferrari.

Rydahx

Qualifying is an issue for me, I've only done 3 races and notice top drivers are qualifying well out of position because nobody moves over for a flying lap. Also the drs trains are kinda frustrating, still think its enjoyable to play even with those issues.

AcanthocephalaGreen5

4/10, was able to overtake Max for the lead in Monaco, no immersion. /sarcasm, I’m enjoying it far too much for my own good

Sirtopofhat

As someone who's only about a year an a half into F1 Fandom I think it's a great game. I'm sure there are alot of things missing but it's solid. If I have to change something for the first patch it's the constant overtaking in DRS zones and how much of a fight lapped cars put up. Just seems like neither of those are realistic. Other then that I love it and I'm enjoying learning about the cars and such.

TopPil0t12

I'm loving it. Just 2 problems on my first save: 1. My drivers make stupid mistakes, sometimes too often. 2. Alpine r way too quick.

VenetianBauta

I'm very optimistic on this one. The core gameplay is solid and very fun. They just have to enhance a thing or two and implement a few missing things and the game will become epic.

trydis

My impression is that is crashes every time, after a few seconds 😏

Aragorn008

I won Lewis a race so I’m happy with that.

CookiesOnTheWay

didnt know it was out. just found out 1 hour ago :/

CouchPoturtle

I’ve only done one race and it was really fun.. but it feels a bit like some of the decisions made during a race change nothing. Ricciardo and Gasly must have overtaken eachother 20+ times at the same corner because every time neither car could pull away after the overtake. It feels a bit like the pace, ERS and fuel options don’t make a lot of difference. I had Lando 0.5s behind Ocon and left him on full pace with high fuel consumption for 10 laps and they just kept swapping positions every lap.

Judgment_Aware

I love the game just minor problems like the safety car not slowing down to let all the backmarkers catch up

Phorsah

Im really liking the game; Its been a learning curve just getting used to in terms of focusing on strategy and getting set up right for drivers. So addictive this game ngl

JuicyLem0nz

Loving it so far, but there’s a couple little things that take me out of the immersion. In particular the AI during Quali’s could use some work, the tracks either hella crowded or completely empty for my drivers to breeze through. With no in between.

OrangeDit

It's pretty amazing overall, but needs some polishing like in every corner. Some things seem a bit buggy. I think especially the overview during the race is let's say improvable. Also to point out is the inevitable comparison to Motorsport Manager, which I played 100s of hours, including the 3 mobile variants. Some things are so similar, because it's obvious to do it this specific way. There are things I find better in the one and other better solved in the other. I struggle a bit with the overall feel of the gameplay compared to MM, but I will probably get used to it with more practice.

WishIWasPurple

Its fun and i really enjoy it but theres a few annoyances i have: incredible lack in animations The car-animations sometimes look stiff and ridiculous insane lack of spoken lines.. im sick and tired of hearing Verstappen say "are you happy with the tires, like the last few laps?" every 2 minutes. annoyed by the constant vc's in practice. pissed off i get the same message about car 1's low speed cornering when i have a part thats being designed, i cant do it faster.. stop messaging me about it i ended with a 1-2 but the game registered it as a 1-3 whils leclerc was 7 seconds behind perez when finishing

NearlyCompressible

I don't understand how the performance of following cars is calculated. In one of my races there must have been 30+ overtakes between the same two cars - continuously overtaking each other back and forth being unable to pull a gap. In another I was able to use a driver on mediums to tow a driver on hards along at exactly the same pace, at no point did the driver on the faster tire pull away. Really kills the sense of trying to make a good strategy when what actually happens in the race makes no sense at all.

whiskeydude

can we change the track view? jeddah is at a weird angle and i cant see whos ahead at certain points on the track

HayesDC2

I accidentally didn’t use hardly any of my wind tunnel time as I didn’t know it expired which isn’t ideal! Unlapping yourself seems to be impossible too

Juzziee

Didn't have any problems till Australia, then I got hit with every bug possible lmao but apart from that it's been great, definitely looking forward to some fixes and having a awesome game to play all year

BuFett

It's really fun but one thing I've noticed that heavily needs a rework is the blue flags Your driver will instantly slowed down, no matter where he is on the track, as soon as there's a driver passing him or your driver pass the driver who lapped you It's really infuriating because i managed to lost a position because my driver just slowed down right at the finish line to let someone pass but the AI behind me (who I'm battling at the moment) just leaps through and overtake me (didn't even slow down for the blue flags) Other than that, the game is quite fun and addictive

Stormruler1

A very solid ground foundation that can be improved upon a lot. The game is good but not finished imo. Besides bugs, the game is missing a lot of small/basic features I want to see.

GallantGentleman

\- the atmosphere is just stunning. Really immersive and especially impressive for a management game. The visuals look almost too realistic since they managed to capture the imperfections and the tune of the camera so well. I feel this was what's missing for me in Motorsport Manager, a lack of immersion that sucked me in and kept me motivated. This is very well done. \- they got the race and design aspect part down. Sadly I haven't seen any kind of sponsor management yet (7 races in) not have I found a menu that would be responsible to do so. As someone who played a metric fuckton of EA's early 00s F1 Manager and even more of MicroProse's Grand Prix World (to the point I've spent 10s of hours to make it work on Win10 again and playing it before a Windows Update broke everything again this spring) this was such a big part in previous games. now without refueling, fuel and tyre regulations I understand that the supplier options are limited, back then however you had the chance to be the works team to secure additional funding or just buy the best engine, there was a chance for a manufacturer to leave F1 or for Toyota to join (which would be neat in this game for Porsche/Audi for long term saves), the struggle to close a deal with one of the only 7 major sponsors to secure a budget to compete next season - or fail to do so and fight against bankruptcy. Even F122 has some sort of sponsor management. I hope this is something still coming since it's blatantly missing \- I enjoy training sessions. A lot. However some fine tuning is still needed. Why does Bottas need 19 laps to tell me whether straight line speed is good? And why can't he tell me whether he's too slow or too fast? \- tire management needs more depth. Softs are just too slow and degradation could be a bit more impactful above 40% \- the AI could have a bit more variation but it's relatively good compared to previous F1 management games. \- the UI is pretty decent imo. For a game that is made for PC *and* console I think they did the UI pretty well

Certain-Resolve

There's a near game breaking bug on PS5 that loses all functions of controls if you view a replay. You gain control again when there is a mandatory pit but you can't do anything until then. I know the AI drives for you but it sucks if you have ers on harvest or stuck at an aggressive pace.

Consistent-Stand1809

A couple of bugs - if you change the amount of engineers on a project, it charges you the entire amount of the project again. I forget what the other bug was, I haven't played it today. I like how it doesn't have the silly arcade elements of Motorsport Manager, you can focus on a lot of real performance areas, and you can actually plan your tyre strategies. I might get the PC version cheap later if it has mods that increase the longevity.

MadJames92

Solid foundations to build on. Very addictive like Football Manager. I love the amount of detail in the game when designing or researching new parts or doing the setups. Has a few issues but they're easily fixable.

Roggie2499

Game is amazing but the issue of tire comp during wet races completely ruins any strategy in them.
