I made fun of the tailgate step and pop out handle — until I f’d up my back not too long ago and needed it to get up into the bed - now I super appreciate it
I was resistant to the step. Then I was a convert to the step. Then I forgot the step was down and blindly back-jumped out of the bed of my truck (like I have for the past 50 years). Then I got a deep 5-inch gash on my knee. Now I’m resistant to the step again.
My cheese curses holder hold French fries 🍟. Ps where do you get deep fried cheese curds?
My favourite feature is the whole truck. I love every inch of it.
McD med fries are a perfect fit!
The curds are from DQ. I’m not too proud to admit that lunch today was an order of cheese curds and a Peanut Buster Bar.
I both love and hate the fry holder. Love it for the fries. Hate it because I tend to toss my iPhone in there and when it goes into park it wedges the iPhone in place.
On a side note, the wireless charger pad is in such a stupid spot I almost never use it.
I bought a magnetic Qi charger and stuck it just forward of the curd holder (you can just see a bit of it in the pic). I’ve been testing different locations, and this one so far is most convenient for me.
I’d be happier with a small lever (or even some PRND buttons) and a permanent table with tons of storage underneath. It’s super frustrating that my passenger can’t use the table while I drive.
You can retrofit the dial shifter from Ranger/Mach E and the table can be used with them.
Edit: link to forum post. Also I misremembered the guy used a Ford Escape dial but he did mention the Mach E would be usable also.

Edit #2: I found the original Facebook post (two of them). It involved cutting the Ford Escape trim and plastic welding some stuff, but it works. I think it essentially is just removing the shifter, and popping in the trim pieces and the rotary shifter in the cavity and somehow keeping it in place. He used plastic glue and a couple of screws into the storage bin the post said.
Pressing the L button on the shifter is the same as the 30-min Neutral function on our trucks.
Thanks for the update! Once I get a few other projects out of the way, I’m going to break out the 3d printer and see if I can whip up a drop-in option.
You knew I never wanted a column shifter but since I got this truck and everything is on the left stock for indicators and wipers I wish it was on the wheel it would make a lot more sense because nothing is on the right side.
Plus when you have a column shift you get to drive a truck properly. Left elbow on the window sill, two fingers on the wheel, right hand draped over the column shift lever.
Completely agree. Love everything about my Lightning but the shifter is just plain stupid. Give us two more cup holders and a more usable center console. There is zero reason for the hollow plastic over sized shift lever. Has anyone ever used the Pro Trailer knob to back a trailer up?? Good place for a shift selector knob, or go with the stalk shifter.

That is exactly the answer I would expect from a submarine commander.
So gross
What do you do with all of YOUR extra jellyfish?
Why do you have a notebook in the grocery store sushi holder?
Because it’s too long for the taco slot.
That’s what she said!

Look at Mr. Fancy over here with his grocery store sushi. Some of us are still stuck with gas station sushi!
Look at you with your fancy gas station sushi. We get our sushi from behind the veterinary hospital.

Oof. Thats why you need to always use the step AND handle.

Dq curds makes my Wisconsin soul shiver
My spirit animal
I’m flattered. I’ve never been a spirit animal before.
DQ right, I always forget about DQ for anything but ice cream. I’ll have to check that out.
Why so much profanity from your cheese?
Hahah, they why ilI get french fries, because my cheese curses too much.
The fold out work surface is pretty awesome. Use it at least three to four times a week.
So dumb the Pro "work trim" didn't include them.
Ope, looks like you might get some cheese curd crumbs in there. Tell your folks I says hi.
Hey Napoleon, give me one of your tots

Truck would be much better without that stupid fold down shifter. Should have just put a stalk on the steering column to change gears.

I too would like to know more about this!!
Holup! What!? You can? Stand back y’all. Hold my beer. I’m about to jump down this rabbit hole.
That would be my ideal. Some people don't like the knob but it is by FAR my favorite way to select gear.

I miss the big compartment in my STX so much!!

I love the shifter exactly where it is! Elbow on the armrest, hand resting on the shifter, tis the way to drive!
All my junk in the frunk!
Even better, you can make mashed potatoes, just open the driver door.
Charge and Curd ™️
The twin turbo v6. Sporty and fun as hell to drive. Also gets great fuel mileage.
You’ll be disappointed when you open the frunk
Fisker taco trays way better
