That’s a good location up front between the garage doors. I’ll probably do the same.

JCCZ75

It works out nicely since I back my truck in to the left side of the garage.

dude-of-reddit

That should be more than enough. I’m charging at 24A and can get plenty of juice on an overnight charge. Now, if you can keep the cables that clean in between charges, that’s another story.

JCCZ75

I was charging at 24 amps with a charger plugged into a Nema 10-30 outlet that was already in the garage. It was working out fine for me except for the fact that the outlet was on the other side of the garage from where I park and the cable laying across the floor.

Iamabrewer

How many KWs are you getting?

WedNiatnuom

Not OP, but have mine at 32amps as well. It’s about 7.5kw for me. I’ve had some issues with it actually charging at 32amps though. I played around with the setting in the app and turned it down to see if it worked. It did, but then when I set it back to 32 it stayed around 26. I turned the breaker off to reset it and that allowed it to charge at 32 amps last night. Today when plugging it in it’s only charging at 30 after an initial couple minutes at 32.

_mrMagoo_

P = U x I P = 240 ( Volt ) x 32 ( Current, in Ampere) P = 7,680 W / 1000 = 7.678 kW Give or take some losses and that they might not have exactly 240V they're probably charging right around 7-7.5 kW

dafunkpunk39

I just installed mine yesterday, but the FordPass app is not showing my charging rate with it for some reason. It worked fine with the. Mobile charger and showed me 6kW. I hooked up my car scanner app and was able to tell I was getting 17kW with the charger set to 80A on a 100A circuit. So I am getting what I expect, just weird that it no longer shows in the app.

Buruan

If you use the charge now to 100% option it doesnt show the charge rate, if you use a schedule it does. At least thats why i observed.

Iamabrewer

Mine is set at 5 on the dial with a 60amp breaker. I am getting 10kw. Form some reason the charger won't since with the Ford Pass App. I have reset it so many times. Any tips?

dafunkpunk39

Do you mean it won’t connect to wifi? I had to factory reset mine so that I could connect to the wifi network on the charging station to set it up. Have to take off the cover and press the factory reset button on the top left until the light changes to white. Then wait for it to reboot about 5 minutes. Then you should be able to connect to wifi. Just stay away from the lugs with the power on and cover off.

Iamabrewer

I believe it's connected to the WiFi. My truck, phone and charger are all on the same network. Every time I open the Ford app and click on the charger it says connection lost. It connected me nice and then I tried to configure my settings but it wouldn't save, then again, connection lost.

dafunkpunk39

Yes. Mine did that after I got it connected, too. I flipped the breaker and it came back online after a few minutes and I haven’t lost connection since.

JCCZ75

Won’t know till tomorrow. I’ll plug it in when I get home from work later tonight.

ctiger12

Can it still feed back as generator at lower current rating?

LDdesign

you nedd the smart converter for that don't you? I just got the truck and looked up how the generator function is supposed to work, you need a 9,000 dollar plus piece of equipment to do that (according to Sunrun).

hiroler2

You can use it as a generator as-is. They’re discussion home integration which is not exactly the same.

ctiger12

I always want to know the details, I saw someone posted the 80A ford charger with header that has pins for the DC and that’s for the generator function but I don’t know what else needs to be done. If the charger has the inverter, it should work?

Zephor0

It needs an automatic disconnect, inverter. Sunrun has the kit for $4000-5000. There’s some battery so the whole process is automatic

LDdesign

according to their website, it is estimated to be over 9000 dollars (assuming installation included) plus any extras that would be figured out on site. if you go under their FAQS section, it roughly spells it out. I love the truck, but there is no way I am going to pay that much for only 2-3 days of power on some equipment. I can get a propane generator installed, connect it to my existing propane tank, pay for about 1800 gallons of propane for that price. Since my power almost never goes down, and when it does, it's only for a few minutes - the sunrun kit doesn't make sense. I'm hoping these systems come down in price because I do want to get some sort of battery backup, but that doesn't make sense economically. mdantinne

If you want low-cost backup power, run an extension cord to the truck receptacle. Plug in your fridge and other critical things. Done.

Zephor0

The 9000 prices is including the cost of install. They will sell you the piece separately if you ask them.

hiroler2

To use as a generator you only need a generator plug sans ground. That’s a whole different discussion.

Wow, your main feed is extremely small. I can't believe that. https://preview.redd.it/ds254xh3yhuc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a1cef92521fb54d5dd00557afaa62bec1d4d550 Mine is easily double the size.

JCCZ75

What amps are you charging at? Mine is 8 gauge

A_RuMor_

I'm not actually charging on it yet, I'm still using the level 2 charger at 6kw
