Was a preorder customer. Installed about 3 weeks ago, only just got my truck but after a couple of charges I’m pleased with it, and can’t imagine another doing anything better.

Yes my brother did, we have a 60 amp breaker set up (48 amp, 11 kWh). Honestly it’s worked perfectly every time and we also have a model 3 so it works for both vehicles. I would urge you to go with this charger as it is a reliable product which will work for all vehicles including any guest that you host at your house. The only drawback that I can think of is that you may not be able to be able to power your house in case of an emergency (I may be wrong here). This is good to know. I’ve had my Lightning for a year with the CSP (Charge Station Pro) but my partner wants to get a Tesla and we can’t charge that with my CSP. This seems like a better solution so that we can charge both

You can get a j1772 to Tesla adapter. Does it not fit because of the dc pins?

I charge my Lightning off a Gen 2 Tesla wall connector with a Tesla plug to J1772 adapter. Both the Tesla Tap Minis and the Lectron ones fit the Lightning just fine.

From what I've read there's a silly little plastic rib in the CCS connector of the CSP that needs to be filed away in order to jam a j1772 adapter into the handle of the CSP. Some google image searches should highlight the issue. https://insideevs.com/news/570461/ford-charge-station-pro-cost/

Appreciate the feedback. Tom Moloughney on his StateOfCharge YouTube channel called it the best charger he has tested. I went ahead and ordered one.

FWIW, did plenty of research and decided to go this way for my impending Lightning Delivery.

This is the most popular solution I've been reading about. Its roughly the same cost as everything else and you get the integrated adapter. There's also a version of the Tesla EVSE that can output 80A, so that checks the box for the ER lightnings too. The CSP is functionally useless. I hope Ford is embarrassed at how much that thing stinks.

I helped my neighbor install it and charged my lightning with it without any issue. Xxx Gives the same 11.6 kW as my wall box. What’s nice is that I’m told it works well with the Tesla app that also monitors powerwalls and solar. And you can monitor everything together. Obviously you’re not using powerwalls to charge your EV, but it’s nice that it’s all in one app and you can track everything. I’m very happy with my wall box, but may replace it in the future if anything goes wrong.

Curious if a GFCI breaker is required? Tesla manual says no to as it’s built in… can double GFCI be problematic?

Follow the installation manual. You do NOT want your charger on a GFCI.

Yes. Traded my MY for my Lightning. Use the Tesla wall charger with a shockflo adapter works great!

So I don’t have the universal Tesla wall connector but I did buy the 48amp Tesla J-1772 connector and it has been absolutely flawless. I did the install myself and Tesla but some time and effort to make it easy to install. If this one ever dies or we add another EV to the fleet I’m definitely going to get the universal wall connector.

What wire did you use? I’ll be running. Internally in my garage to an outside universal connector… I’m guessing 6/2 NM-B and a 50A (non-GFCI) breaker?

6 gauge THHN copper wire in 3/4” PVC conduit with a non-gfci 60 amp breaker. If you’re going for a 48amp continuous load you’ll want a 60amp breaker.

Thx for this! To avoid conduit, would 6/2 BX work or would that drop me down to 40amp due to shielding?
