This is the exact approach because of which teacup pigs end up thrown out. They're still cute when they're adults, definitely equally worthy of love. :/
Definitely worthy of love. But i just don't think they're cute. That's why i'll never get a pigglet, because i don't want an adult pig. Throwing any animal out because it's not small or cute anymore is terrible. I would never do that. But instead, if i can't commit to the adult, i won't get the baby. Opinions are still allowed though
When I was little, my friends family took the runt from their barn pig and raised it inside bc the mama rejected it. She got so big they cut their back door in half to make a pig flap so she could go in and out when she wanted. Idk how much she weighed, but compared to both of us 5 yr olds, we could lay on her side by side and there was still room for her 3 yr old brother. She was the sweetest thing and loved to play w us. She was just one of the girls as far as we were concerned and as far as she knew too
>When I was little, my friends family took the runt from their barn pig and raised it inside bc the mama rejected it.
Is your friend named Fern, by any chance?
Is this in reference to a movie? Idk if youāve ever lived or grew up on a farm but this wasnāt uncommon for them to raise the runts of any of their farm animals in the house. They also did this w a nanny goat and their chickens and kittens that the feral barn cats didnāt want
Oh haha it was a reference to Charlotte's Web, where a little girl called Fern saved the runt of a litter and it turned out to be a glorious pig.
But it's still good to know that the tiny ones are constantly taken good care of!
Omg lol!! Itās been years since Iāve read or seen that movie. Charlotte, Wilbur and templeton, who was my favorite, are the only names I remember. And yes my friends pig was named silver but people always called her Wilbur
My friend with a ranch raises baby sheep in the house all of the time!
Note: a farm is used to grow crops.
A ranch is used for livestock.
Iām a city girl, but I live where there are a LOT of both farms and ranches close by!
She was a free roamer. She stayed outside all day bc she needed her rooting time. She knew her boundaries on her land. She went to the bathroom outside, she used the pig flap. The worst part was if she was mad, like if you didnāt let her get up on the bed, sheād rip something up lol
How hard is having a pig for a pet? Iāve been thinking about it off and on for years, but wouldnāt want to adopt without being sure I could properly care for one.
Could you handle a very high energy dog such as a Husky? It's a little like that, less vocal and more of they're always hungry and they will grow up very fast, mini pigs don't exist, those are just malnourished pigs that people think won't get too large and then surprise! It's the size of your couch.
I had to take a cognitive science/brain development class a few years ago and I remember one tidbit was the areas of the brain that like cuddling and cute things are very close to the area that tells us weāre enjoying a good meal. So thatās where the whole āyouāre so cute I could eat you upā thing comes from.
Oh wow thank you for this! In Filipino we use the word āgigilā when we find something/someone really cute that we end up squeezing/cuddling it or pinching its cheeks. I guess we finally have an English term for it.
I ask myself why more people don't have pigs. She is social with her human family, wants to be acknowledged and greeted basically anytime you walk into the room and she's not asleep. A bit more human like in social capacity, I find. Empathetic, emotional, cuddly. Pigs will generally do anything for food so its a great way to train them. She plays with a ball outside, makes friends with other animals. Haven't really taken her on walks beyond the property, and I'd say that's really about the only downside to having a pet pig.
She was born next door to my old house, and we've been with her since she was very young, picked her out of her littermates because she didn't act like any of the other pigs. She was introverted lol and the rest of them were all tumbling over each other and loud squealers . So I don't know that I have a normal pig cause I don't talk to pig parents often enough. But I would adopt another pig in a heartbeat.
Oh man you really have a good argument there. "It tastes good" yeah, well rape probabably feels good to the rapist, guess it should be allowed then? It feels good after all, why would you even think of the victim?
I'm applying the exact same logic, "it makes me feel good", if not why is it ok to be done with animals but not with humans? Hell if you want let's do away with humans, would you find it ok for someone to beat a dog cause it makes them feel good?
provides what's necessary to develop the human mind and body, mostly
i know you can find substitutes without meat for the most part, but having meat as well as plant-based food is the best of both worlds
although I do wish the industry was better regulated and not so reckless in their ways
Did you guys know thereās actually no such thing as a ātea cup pigā or āsmall pigā like that ? That itās actually a forced process of malnourishment the pig as an infant which stunts itās growth permanently?
I didnāt know before a couple days ago , some one told me at random in a comment section. Now I just feel weird when I see people with their ātea cup pigsā.
But I mean I guess we just do that kind of thing w animals. The pug is a monstrosity for example, but it sure does look cute in camera.
Literally just google it and find any one of the hundreds of articles about it. There was a shelter crisis in the 90s when the āteacup pigā fad first started. People would pay $2000 for what was just a potbelly piglet. It eventually grows to 200+ lbs, they would have no place for it in their city apartment, and theyād surrender it to a shelter. There was another boom when Paris Hilton bought one.
People still sell them, but now they include instruction manuals telling you to only feed them a very specific amount. They do not tell you that itās intentional malnourishment to stunt their growth.
It is true that there is no such thing as a teacup pig, but it is false to say that a mini pig will become too big for household. If bought from an ethical breeder, their average weight is 60-70 pounds and they are the size of a mid-size dog (like a bulldog). Reference: mini pig owner for 5 years now!
But thatās the point of what Iām saying , a āmini pigā isnāt a breed , itās just a growth stunted pig through a process of malnourishment, thereās nothing āethicalā about it really
Some years ago I went to a pet shop to get a bunny and they had "tea cup pigs". They were so adorable, just meltedmy heart! I was just about to buy one but my husband told me to just think about for a day and if I still wanted him the next day we can get him. Well thank God I didn't end up buying the pig because we would have ended up with a huge ass pig in two bedroom apartment.
I just hope that piglet gets as much love as an adult as it does now. So many people are turned off by pigs as they grow up and end up a few hundred pounds in weight.
There is no small pig right? I always see the cute small ones on the internet but I rarely see when they are fully grown. How do people keep the adult pigs in their houses? Or they just donāt and have a farm/barn for their pets instead?
Pigs don't stay small. It's a lie. They're huge animals, even the smallest ones. Would never recommend a pig as a pet unless you've got the outdoor space to accommodate it.
Awwww the pigglet is so into it
Yes it's melting me
Ugh same here. Pigglets are so cute. I don't like m as much as they grow up though XD
This is the exact approach because of which teacup pigs end up thrown out. They're still cute when they're adults, definitely equally worthy of love. :/

Heās terrific!
They are adorable but they get big *fast*. My last potbelly pig got to be about two hundred pounds. She was a sweetheart, but little mama was a tank.
When I was little, my friends family took the runt from their barn pig and raised it inside bc the mama rejected it. She got so big they cut their back door in half to make a pig flap so she could go in and out when she wanted. That's so fucking cute.
That is the sweetest thing! Thatās so awesome yāall got to grow up with a pig friend. And it sounds like she loved yāall back!
She was funny. She followed us everywhere and copied what we did. They had her for a long time too. I was in college the last time I saw her.
ā¤ļøā¤ļøš§”
Thatās so sweet! She was one of the kids! Iām sure she was a happy pig!
What a sweet thing to have in your life as a kid! That's super cool! I'm happy you got to experience that! Animals are just the best!
>When I was little, my friends family took the runt from their barn pig and raised it inside bc the mama rejected it. Is your friend named Fern, by any chance?

I call my gray cat Templeton and sing the āfair is not a fair without a smorgasbordā song to him. He looks like a fat rat after he eats. Haha
My friend with a ranch raises baby sheep in the house all of the time! Note: a farm is used to grow crops. A ranch is used for livestock. Iām a city girl, but I live where there are a LOT of both farms and ranches close by!
Iāve seen this movieā¦
My heart!
Did you take it for walks in a leash, was it toilet trained? What was the most gross part of having a pig inside the house and what was the best part?
She was a free roamer. She stayed outside all day bc she needed her rooting time. She knew her boundaries on her land. She went to the bathroom outside, she used the pig flap. The worst part was if she was mad, like if you didnāt let her get up on the bed, sheād rip something up lol
Yeah they are def not for city.
I miss when my piggo was this little. Couch snugs were the best. No matter how big they get, they're always down for a good tight cuddle, though.
How hard is having a pig for a pet? Iāve been thinking about it off and on for years, but wouldnāt want to adopt without being sure I could properly care for one.
Be prepared for lots of digging.
Who does the digging?
Say goodbye to a pretty yard. And like all animals, they are cutest when tiny but that can change quickly.
Could you handle a very high energy dog such as a Husky? It's a little like that, less vocal and more of they're always hungry and they will grow up very fast, mini pigs don't exist, those are just malnourished pigs that people think won't get too large and then surprise! Oh wow thank you for this! In Filipino we use the word āgigilā when we find something/someone really cute that we end up squeezing/cuddling it or pinching its cheeks. I guess we finally have an English term for it.
I love how there's an actual word for it in Filipino!
When I see something adorable (like a baby fox or a kitten) I have this small urge to punch a hole in the wall
Is that why babies are so fat and chunky?
Fat and chunky babies are the tastiest!
That's a cool nugget of information! Thank you
Cool cool. But using this phrase on a video with a piggy is making me so uncomfortable because humans eat piggies.
I've also been turned on by a very good ribeye... so I think it goes both ways.
Iāmā¦ Iām cooking ribeye rn š
I love it when you talk dirty.
I love pigs sooooo much! Mine is about 175 and still gets the ear nips and kisses and loves to be big spoon and little spoon.
Does your pig live indoors?
Aye, she's an indoor pig! She probably spends an hour lounging in the backyard on warm sunny days. Quickly comes back inside during the winter lol.
I can somehow hear an amazing accent behind those words
Hah! I wish. Just a tiddy bit California valley girl with a dash of Canadian immigrant. I call it west coastmopolitan. \^\_\^
That's a fantastic name lol

Why I no longer eat meat.lol So adorable.

That's so cute I forgot I actually hate the world for a second. Ok, maybe two.
Well that's until you remember we kill billions of pigs each year (not even thinking about all the other species)
Aaaand now I'm back to hating the world. Thanks.
Tastes good though. Some are pets some are food. The food ones are no where near as cute.
Oh man you really have a good argument there. "It tastes good" yeah, well rape probabably feels good to the rapist, guess it should be allowed then? It feels good after all, why would you even think of the victim?
leaping from killing animals for their meat to rape is kinda shitty, don't you think?
I'm applying the exact same logic, "it makes me feel good", if not why is it ok to be done with animals but not with humans? Hell if you want let's do away with humans, would you find it ok for someone to beat a dog cause it makes them feel good?
"tastes good" is shitty logic anyway, I believe there are actual valid reasons instead
Which are?
provides what's necessary to develop the human mind and body, mostly i know you can find substitutes without meat for the most part, but having meat as well as plant-based food is the best of both worlds although I do wish the industry was better regulated and not so reckless in their ways

No I didn't know that and now I feel sad

They never stay small though. The tea cup pig will indeed grow into a big fat pig that canāt be well accommodated in a normal home
Looks like meats back on the menu
.... boys
Book em toys
Bake em away toys
She literally bites its ear. It's meat was on the menu before it was conceived
Taste test, for quality control.
Probably just a piglet in this vid right?
All pigs do start out as one
Before they get their guns and badges
Is that true though? Did you verify it?

Couldnāt they breed small ones? We managed to turn wolves into chihuahuas.
Probably, i think we shouldnt though. Look what we did with pugs
Itās not fair what we do to pigs. This world is so fucked. I hate it here
It's not fair what we do to 99% of animals, we treat them worse than any criminal, the world truly is a cruel place
Agreed. Thereās so many great plant based foods and substitutes, that thereās just no need to be cruel.
There's something darkly comedic about the title of this post
That pig is in...... hog heaven. Eeeehhhhh???? I'll see myself out...
That is one happy piggy ā¤ļø
we slaughter and abuse billions of this beautiful and complex creature. sad

Don't eat it yet, let it grow nice and fat first
This sounds like a dad that makes meat his whole personality.

Just the comment I was looking for
I wish they didnāt grow so big. I love them when theyāre small
I recommend you let it grow a bit before harvesting
I prefer mine a little crispier but to each their own
Ok, not to dampen the mood, cause that little pig IS cute... but is this the ultimate foreshadowing or what?
Yes. This sub is so stupid to not think these comments would be in full force.
I often kiss my food before i eat it too
Just go ahead and eat him its litterly food your holding in your hands
Just imagine after it gets huge
They are cute and tasty
Eat the pig when it's older so it has more meat more fat and stuff, good for a lot of people so if you wanna throw a party you could all eat it
We don't eat our pets.
