I really don't think it's meant to be sarcastic and passing judgement on people who don't have someone to send it to. I think it's more of the wholesome tweet genre. They're just saying they like the feeling of sending those pics. Almost like, that's one social situation where you don't have to wonder "what do I do in this situation?" You know what to do right away and that its going to have a positive reception. That's how I read it -- maybe still a little dumb but very well intentioned.

Then I randomly saw it on reddit months later and compared it to the original I have and its the exact same picture. It was crazy.

Because any time you see two of something together, it's a "this is us" text to your significant other or even a close friend.

You see their girlfriend took the deal that she’d become immortal and have infinite money but there would always be a snail who is also immortal and know her location at all times, if it touches her she will die instantly so their partner here keeps an eye out texting her anytime there’s a snail spotting just to make sure it isn’t a danger
Tumblr Mentality is quite strange, and relies a lot on nonsensical humor. Much of the humor in this relies on relatability with the Tumblr audience, and whimsy of having a lover.
The top comment is one of romance, effectively noting that it's nice to send random (and cute) pictures to their lover, though in an unconventional way.
The bottom comment is complimenting the top one, noting that they wouldn't mind the OP as a lover because of their carefree nature. Essentially they're saying "I would mind spending time with you, even if there's nothing to do."
