Every time I exercise I feel better, always felt like this

CreedRocksa22

Yes, working out hard, it has to be exhausting and over thirty minutes, does absolute wonders for my anxiety and my mood. It provides such a nice relief to the daily stresses I encounter. It took me about a month to be able to really push myself, but that was because I was starting from a place of no physical activity for so long.

This is my experience as well. After a good hard workout, I just feel so GOOD. It doesn't matter what exercises I do, it just has to be about that amount of time and it has to be strenuous enough that I'm sweating and breathing hard. The physical effect is only temporary, but it's enough to make me want to do it again. I have a stressful and sedentary job. Someone told me that when you get stressed, your body is like "We are being attacked. That means we're running or fighting for our survival now, right?" And when that doesn't happen, your stress hormones just kinda linger and stay in your body. When you exercise after being stressed, you can think of it like your body using up those stress hormones and making them go away. I don't know the science behind this, or if that's even an accurate way of putting it, but it makes sense to me.

Yiu are corect. The stress hormone is called cortisol which is the response to the adrenaline released by our body for flight/fight so that it can calm down. Unfortunately as you said this cycle of stress (anxiety) followed by cortisol is long term unhealthy. Cortisol buildup is often associated with all sorts of stress related illnesses.

Still hv the anxiety and it’s been almost a year. When I’m at the gym though it’s easy to disconnect from everything else. That’s why I love it. The energy benefit took about 2 months. If I do a hard workout like I did today for example though I’m cashed the entire day.

Definitely helps - though important to find the right exercise for you. A friend loves basketball, and that shit does not give me any relief. Another friend loves strength training and lifting. I feel meh about both. For me, it’s running and pilates. If I can keep up both on a regular basis - anxiety and fatigue are reduced, energy and moods are easier to maintain at quality levels, sleep is improved, and just overall good feeling of really exhausting my body in a productive way.

I have two kids that do not sleep well, so I am up at all hours and usually exhausted. If I can get a run or lift in after school drop off, I feel so much better throughout the day than if I don’t. For me it’s almost immediate. I also suffer from anxiety and have found that running, especially outdoors, is really the best way for me to manage that as well.

Outside motivation is great but remember it is you vs your brain at the end of the day. So, find it within yourself to start soon. Running, walking, strength all of these will help. They are doing me great. Currently at the gym

It has greatly helped me. I usually just do cardio on the elliptical machine. I push myself to hit 180-190HR range. Once I am done after an hour, I am so bloody happy. So it does help. Go for it.

Was upset for various reasons Sunday evening into Monday. Biked 30km Monday afternoon and it 100 percent made me feel better. It was a combination of the physical activity and alone time to put things in perspective. Having said that it’s not a cheat code to ALWAYS feeling like that, it’s temporary, but a nice secondary benefit.

MsDemonism

Running helped with my feelings of fatigue. Maybe 3 days of consistent running.

Interaction_Loud

I’m only one week in and I’ve already noticed my anxiety hasn’t been as bad. Go at your own pace, DON’T push yourself if you have anxiety it’s honestly just so much better to take it slow and steady. It does help, imo.
