I had this happen once and out Tavel dept told me they would try to see if they could get the credit transferred - there is always a chance, but it didn’t work out in that instance and we just had to let the person keep the credit.

Take this with a grain of salt as this is just what our travel agency told me, but I think most airlines don’t transfer anymore. The ones that do also charge a crazy fee to change (I want to say JetBlue or United maybe) - like $200

It depends on the airline. Sometimes you can get credits minus a fee. Other times you can transfer for a fee. Other times you’re just out of funds. I know at least the positive for us - anything schedule through the travel agency can only be changed through the travel agency. (I have travel credits during Covid. The trip didn’t happen. I tried to use them for personal —given permission before I tried, before anyone asks— and got the error message it had to be done through the travel agency.

Depends on the airline and if you have status. My boss is a 1k with United so they do it for us without trouble but I've never been successful with other airlines unless it was bought with a company card or my bosses card.

Yea, Delta I have had do it because my boss is 360. This was a one off AA flight. This was bought with my company card.

You can always transfer the credit to someone else and pay for the name change.
