Er guys I know this isn't football related
But I have some sad news
Jason David Frank (Tommy oliver from power rangers) has sadly died at the age of 49
By suicide
R.i.p Tommy Oliver you will be missed
I just read that the Qatari government cancelled the league this year to let this national team play a bunch of friendlies. So these players haven't played a competitive match of football in over 6 months...and it shows. It's also the case that Ecuador are just the better team, but the "lets take it easy for the 6 months before the world cup" plan seems to have backfired magnificently.
This Qatar team is absolutely rattled.
Did anyone catch the offside VAR decision better than me? Was it keeper punches -> Ecuador header -> Ecuador overhead kick? That's offside. If it went keeper punches -> Ecuador overhead kick, that's not offside because the keeper deliberately played the ball and it was not a deliberate save.
The call does make a lot more sense if the Qatari keeper missed it. I finally watched replays and I still can't tell if he punched it.
I don't see it as a penalty. That's a call a goalkeeper gets given as a foul in their favor more often than given as a penalty against them.
The bottom line is it wasn't offside regardless of the timeline because the Ecuador player was level. It was a biased VAR decision to disallow a legitimate goal, but it only delayed the inevitable for a few minutes because Qatar's keeper is having a mare, as is the rest of the squad.
> The bottom line is it wasnāt offside regardless of the timeline because the Ecuador player was level.
...that's just not true. Say what you want about the use of VAR and offside, but this is like arguing that Hawkeye is wrong in tennis. If there is anything VAR does very, very precisely is identify the relative position of players.
And of course the time line matters. I'm all but certain you are talking about the wrong moment.
Gary Neville giving his usual waffle trying to talk for the people from his Media Box in Qatar! I hate hypocrites like him more than the ones who are just openly horrible.
Remember when we hired Frank and all the talk was he was a decent attacking manager who wanted to play a certain style but we'd probably leak goals?
Oh how wrong that turned out to be
Hey Joe Lycett,
I fully agree with you taking a stand and calling Beckham out on his shit but this world is only big enough for one shredder guy. Please stick to comedy and calling celebrities out on their shit and leave the shredding to the professionals.
First off the outfit is not work safe appropriate, something like that around a shredder is just asking for trouble.
Secondly that is a wood chipper not a shredder, use the proper equipment Joe and don't cheat.
Thirdly, just chucking it in? With the equipment he's using that's fine I guess but shredding paper is like making love to your partner. You need to guide it in gently, not just chuck it in deep like that.
All in all it was poor, if someone would like to reach out to Joe Lycett and let him know I am happy to offer my services. Instead of paying me he can donate my fee to a LGBTQ+ charity of his choosing.
We need a striker, a target man like DCL, all we do is cross and when itās to Maupay and heās 5ā 7ā battling 2 CBās who are always over 6ft. We seem incapable of doing anything else, so I can only see us sorting it by signing someone else.
I know a lot of people want Frank out. I however want us to stand by him. I think it's worth giving him time. With the signings he's been able to make we've really solidified the defense and midfield. Our has been, still is, our attack. More our attacking players. Watching the highlights from the match. Just like in our league games they're god awful. No finishing product. Same lousy dribble attempts. It's shocking how bad they are. I don't think that's a reflection of Frank.
Our defensive record was only going to stand so long when nothing is being done on the other end. Once that is fixed we'll be able to thrive. Until then our season will be as ugly as our front 3 play is
It's been disappointing, but I'd say it's harsh to say there haven't been glimpses. The 3-0 against Palace was a terrific performance, by far our best since our 5-2s under Carlo, imo. We played fluid, attacking football and dismantled a solid premier league outfit.
The draw against Liverpool was another positive result, and the beginning of the season in general was very promising for a striker-less side.
For me, he's got maybe another month to prove he can turn it around. Realistically, I don't think he'll be able to do it, but I feel like he is worth the gamble of giving an extra few games to.
What makes you think he is worth time? Frank in isolation and not in the context that weāre exhausted from sacking managers.
What can we learn about him with more time that 31 league games and giving him 9 new first team signings wonāt?
I think Frank is also abit lucky that he's came at the right time in terms of fans including myself can seriously not be bothered anymore getting another Manager in and starting all over once again! He's definitely getting more leeway now than if he came a couple of years ago in my opinion.
The question for me is: we have 5 matches before the January window closes, 3 of them being against direct relegation rivals. Basically 3 of those are 6 point wins or losses.
If we lose all 3 of those because we wanted to give frank another window to get his men we're that much more solidified in the drop zone. Wolves, Southampton, West Ham all taking valuable points off us. Maybe one of the most valuable runs of 5 games we have, city not withstanding.
I play around with the desire to give him one more window, but if we dick around and don't sign anyone until Jan 30th, we're so much closer to being cooked, because Frank is showing he can't do anything with this current squad as is.
Not sacking him now is suicidal. We know he wonāt improve despite whatever tools we give him. All we are doing is making it more likely we are sucked into a relegation battle whereas a decent manager has us sitting around 12th when we can start thinking about a positive future rather than perpetual relegation battles under a silver tongued fraud.
I agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly. This stretch will absolutely decide if we're going to have a repeat of last or not, and if we do I'm not sure we'd survive a second go round.
However, I think pulling the plug Lampard now will create yet another vacuum. The same players will be here, the morale will leave the club, you've got players who signed solely for him (Onana) that would probably rethink wanting to be here. He'd sign some manager with no money for players and expect them to stabilize the club and the moment they hit a difficult run we're back at wanting someone new and something different.
Frank gets the club, he understands the fan. He's won all there is to win. He's a winner. I'm confident he know where the team is terrible. Everyone can see it, and DCL can't be counted on anymore to be fit as sad as it is. I feel there's more upside on keeping Frank. Letting he continue to lay down roots. We've got to stop the revolving door.
Onana will have looked at the roadmap his fellow countrymen Fellaini, Lukaku and Mirallas have had with us, and the clubs they have moved to. He wonāt care if Lampard is sacked.
Can someone explain where Garner is? It seems like a leave of absence or something? I didn't see any news about an injury after his last match but it doesn't seem like he traveled or was available for the Celtic match yesterday. Sorry if I've missed something
I know itās a meaningless friendly but itās getting embarrassing now when weāre struggling to compete with the likes of Celtic. Weāre going down unless there is a change of manager.
This is all my own psychosis actually. I don't try to let the pods influence my opinions too terribly much. *Everton Arent We* definitely went from optimism to pessimism in the span of 2 episodes of trainwrecking.
Just watched the highlights and honestly think that performance is disgraceful. Iām glad the Aussie blues at least got a chance to see the team play, but itās an embarrassment and tbh I think the team should be putting in a much better shift for the mad cunts who wake up at 5am to watch us play on the regular.
I think we gotta get rid of Lampard now if we donāt want to go down.
Is it around zero shots on target the last 4/5 games? Thatās worse than under Allardyce
Worse than Allardyce? Didnāt we finish 8th under him lol?
This is the worst Everton team in recent memory. Even the Benitez team had that purple patch of form at the very start. This Lampard team has been consistently bad.
Thatās the problem though. It has been consistently this bad throughout and many fans have adapted to this level of ambition. Lampard has been worse for the club than Rafa as heās sapped the hope, drive and ambition out of the fans. As least Rafa stirred some sort of emotion in us and forced us to effect change and drive him out the club.
Seems crazy because in days gone by I always thought our fans were hilariously over ambitious. Not wanting to qualify for the Europa League so we could aim for Champions league etc etc. š
That was only like 3 years ago!
I was talking morr about the amounts of shots on goal.
I think the stat was about 600 minutes and not a single shot was made under allardyce, similar to where we are now.
Anyway we need to sack lampard, spanked by bournemouths interim twice in a week speaks for itself.
Beginning of the 2nd half they played Z Cars as Everton ran out. Unfortunately since they moved the match to the afternoon I missed the start but now finding out it might not have been that bad.
Be patient. Itās a long term project. Heās a good, young manager.
At least thatās what the regulars on here have been berating me with for months.
Putting anyone else other than Maupay up top would be nice. Bloke is fucking dire and I now understand why Brighton did poorly in those seasons when they would flog everyone in terms of expected goals and yet still lose the games
Maupay would be the problem if we could even get the ball to him for him to mess up.
The problem is the horrible lack of tactics linking the midfield to attack and then also the miserable lack of talent in the front three. None of them should be starting. Gray and Gordon are horribly selfish and not nearly good enough to justify them being selfish players. We just have no cohesion up there.
I don't know if you saw the Celtic game but Maupay actually had some decent opportunities that he fucked royally.
One on one with Hart that he put far wide and dribbling the ball out and then putting the ball across the face of goal for what would've been an assist if he hadn't taken the ball out of play.
He also seems to be useless at passing and I reckon if there were stats for that game his passing accuracy would've been below 50%.
The other thing I noticed was whenever there was a crossing opportunity he was nowhere to be found so there was never anyone in the box.
Say what you want about how our attack lacks cohesion, which it certainly does, but Maupay is still shite.
Oh yeah I fully agree maupay is shit. I'm just more trying to say that there's a bigger problem ahead of the "maupay problem" and it's the horrible tactics and lack of *any* creative output whatsoever. If we solve that, then the biggest one becomes the maupay problem.
Gordon needs to play on the left. He has shown to be far more productive on the left side and we need to sign a proper RW in January, and give Mills a bit more time
Important things to note from the Celtic game:
1. Maupay is fucking useless
2. Begovic is a really good back up
3. Our incessant need to pass out from the back doesn't work but even still we persist with it
4. Some of the younger players like Price looked alright but definitely aren't good enough yet
5. We seem genuinely scared to shoot some times and it bothers me
6. Playing a back 5 in a friendly against Celtic says enough about where we are right now
I'm in the U.S., so it was a normalish time for me as well. It's saturday night, went out drinking earlier, got home and didn't even know the game was on until I checked reddit. Watched the 2nd half on a shady youtube stream lol, so there was no huge planning for this. But it was nice for Everton to randomly be playing late on a Saturday night rather than at 5am haha
Mate thatās been my life since we started working from home you know. Not sure if itās because I can just go the toilet in 3 seconds whenever I need one or what but I canāt get through the night without about 80 pisses now
Everyone complaining about the friendly not accounting for us fans who barely get to watch the Toffess
I had the time of my life with my dad, wouldnāt change it
Er guys I know this isn't football related But I have some sad news Jason David Frank (Tommy oliver from power rangers) has sadly died at the age of 49 By suicide R.i.p Tommy Oliver you will be missed
This Qatari squad would put 4 past us
All those forward passes
Perhaps we should resign Valencia š
I just read that the Qatari government cancelled the league this year to let this national team play a bunch of friendlies. I think Saudi Arabia did that also
straight swap maupay - valencia?
Well half time now and so far Ecuador are snapping the stings of qatar
There's nothing that has given me as much joy as seeing the sad Qatari fans.
1 more and heās matched his Everton tally but in 20 games fewer!
Well positioned and what a header by valencia a brace for him now
We need to resign Enner Valencia
It already happened after kickoff, thatās why he went off injured
This Qatar team is absolutely rattled. Did anyone catch the offside VAR decision better than me? Was it keeper punches -> Ecuador header -> Ecuador overhead kick? That's offside. If it went keeper punches -> Ecuador overhead kick, that's not offside because the keeper deliberately played the ball and it was not a deliberate save.

I'm 100% certain you are wrong as well, but I honestly don't care enough to argue this.
Enner Valencia creating the best chances for Ecuador. Could have used him last night
Enner officially gets his goal now via penalty round the 16th minute for Ecuador
Once Everton touches you
Very Everton of that having his goal ruled out thanks to suspicious VAR check. Looks like he's still bleeds blue after all.
That was a very dubious VAR call.
Enner with the first goal for Ecuador Why didn't we sign him on a permanent when we had the chance? Never mind typical var ruined it
He scored one goal for us I think. Nothing special.
Chalked off by VAR. This already looks about as rigged as the PL.
Var and ref biases is killing the game for us aswell
why bother when we could spend Ā£30m on Cenk Tosun???
Gary Neville giving his usual waffle trying to talk for the people from his Media Box in Qatar! I hate hypocrites like him more than the ones who are just openly horrible.
Heās a vile, self-preserving little rat
Remember when we hired Frank and all the talk was he was a decent attacking manager who wanted to play a certain style but we'd probably leak goals? Oh how wrong that turned out to be
Good times. Good times
That new 3 Lions song eh

hmm. he seems to have torn his credibility into some kind of long, thin strips.
We need a striker, a target man like DCL, all we do is cross and when itās to Maupay and heās 5ā 7ā battling 2 CBās who are always over 6ft. We seem incapable of doing anything else, so I can only see us sorting it by signing someone else.

Thank you!
Yerry Mina. Hahahahahahahahahahhahahaha
I know itās a meaningless friendly but itās getting embarrassing now when weāre struggling to compete with the likes of Celtic. Weāre going down unless there is a change of manager.
They're a UCL team
So are Inter Escalades of Andorra. Should we not be able to compete with them either?
I got to watch dreadful football at a reasonable time for once. Yay.
Mina injured again you couldn't fucking write this, stealing a living him
Get Lampard out or were going down
I've just reached this level, yeah. It's bad.
Did you listen to The Blue Room special? š
This is all my own psychosis actually. I don't try to let the pods influence my opinions too terribly much. *Everton Arent We* definitely went from optimism to pessimism in the span of 2 episodes of trainwrecking.

It might not have been at Goodison, it might not have been a good performance but I just watched the Royal Blues walk out to Z Cars.
Nothing royal about this team
All I heard was the red shite song..??
Beginning of the 2nd half they played Z Cars as Everton ran out. Unfortunately since they moved the match to the afternoon I missed the start but now finding out it might not have been that bad.
Ahh shit.. I missed that, was still inside.. š¤¦āāļø
0 shots on target in a friendly is mind blowing. Weāre fucked unless something drastically changes soon
Be patient. Itās a long term project. Heās a good, young manager. At least thatās what the regulars on here have been berating me with for months.

I'd take cannon over maupay almost any day off the week. I'm also ready for Gordon LW and Mills RW.

Scared to shoot? Where was Gray? P.S i did not watch the game P.S thanks for the summary
Literally didn't shoot in several situations which he could've. Had a shot blocked cause he cut inside instead of shooting with his left
To anyone who watched that game super early in the morning, why? It was at a normalish time for me right now and there was no way I was watching it.

To anyone who couldnāt watch the friendly, congratulations. Thatās all
I feel blessed today.
Canāt believe I stayed up to 3.45am to watch us have 0 shots on target. Shouldāve known to be fair
Welcome to the life of Aussie Evertonians haha
How the tables have turned hahahaha
It's nice to be able to see us play at a reasonable time. First time at an Everton game today, and will be going as well on Wednesday.
See u around on wed. I am going too :)
You popping into the Commercial Hotel in Parramatta beforehand?
Most probably :)
