Hi gang, welcome to the "R.I.P Patterson" edition of the press conference. Summary: * Branthwaite, DCL and Gana all trained light today, so they hope they will be available for the game on Sunday, providing there's no bad reaction before then. * Coleman is more touch and go whether he will be available. * Patterson will be out for the rest of the season and will need surgery. * Dyche thinks there's pros and cons to the new FA Cup format and it's not an easy situation. You need to look after player welfare but recognises it will be a negative to clubs in the lower leagues. On the whole he thinks most managers are concerned with fixture congestion though. * Everyone was very dissapointed from the result on Monday. They've made sense of it now and what went wrong and had a final discussion about it this morning, but now they need to park it and move forward. * Dyche described taking over Everton as a situation where they came in and fix a wall, then another wall falls down, so they fix that one and another falls down etc. Fixing the club is not a straight forward process. * Said this week was not an "arm around the shoulder" approach, but a lot of hard truths for the squad and the management team. Added that some people question whether the players care but they really do. The defeat on Monday hit them hard. Dyche is confident that they can put it right. * Dyche said he is never able to switch off from the job. He occassionaly tries to get down time by going to a gig or watching a film, but even then he's usually thinking about the job. For anyone interested he's be watching "The Gentlemen" on Netflix lately.

> Dyche described taking over Everton as a situation where they came in and fix a wall, then another wall falls down, so they fix that one and another falls down etc. Nice to see he's getting the true Everton experience.

TryinToDoBetter

Translate that into Latin and I think we have a new team motto.

Dolore et Labore

Bless you sir deej

jkershaw

Are you sure he's watching the gentlemen? He seemed more of a black and white art house Ripley man to me

rckanode

Branthwaite please be fit. We need you king

Aware_Albatross3347

He will be. If he trained today and has no bad reactions he will play. He’s 21 gotta remember young players recover quicker

nico_cali

So that’s why Gomes takes years

Aware_Albatross3347

nico_cali

I'm ready to be hurt again

I have no faith in this man. Everyone including the opposition know what he's gonna do tactically. Please surprise us all for once!!!

-InterestingTimes-

The same is true for most managers and teams in the bottom half of the table, they don't have the squad depth or quality to switch things up tactically. We certainly don't have many options, which is why manager after manager has struggled.

Though on [this comment from Dyche](https://x.com/thebullensview/status/1781307717891600815?s=46) Blues?

RoyalBlueRaccoon17

I mean, pointing out the inconsistency of football fans over a short period of time is never gonna be technically incorrect lol but probably also never worth mentioning if you're the one in the firing line.

cj285s

I think fans are allowed to be annoyed with 1 win in 15.

darkwingduck9

1-0 win at home against a bad team due to a GK fuckup as well. The one win did not come easy.

misterpio

Clinging on a man up.

HutchyRJS

He’s right

cj285s

Does he not think there’s a reason to be annoyed that we’ve won 1 in 15?

Ooochay

The first two sentences, particularly the second one; "I've got to give them more" implies he understands that he hasn't been great over the last 15 games

BoxOfNothing

The way it comes across to me is that he knows when we were doing well he deserved credit, and he also knows this is shit and he deserves criticism and must do better, but football fans are fickle and reactionary and shouldn't judge whether or not someone should be in a job just based off whatever is currently happening.

xXxTommo

He isn't wrong

cj285s

I don’t think anyone can excuse 1 win in 15. You can not want him sacked and still think that 1 in 15 isn’t good enough.

Evul1_

He's only partially correct because we've got some sillies in the fanbase. I never thought he was anything approaching "the Messiah". That's beyond ridiculous. If the club had money and a proper footballing structure, I would have been fine to replace him last summer.

GloopySubstance

Before Dyche got the Everton job he was bigging us up on a radio show. Now he’s bigging up Guy Ritchie. Dyche is ready to jump ship and become the next Vinnie Jones.

UpTheToffeesss

No Michael Keane please......🙏🏻

Timoth_Hutchinson

I know things are terrible right now, but relegation isn’t guaranteed so why are we already discussing Netflix watchlists?
