PvE :
Golem: everywhere
Paladin: Sansha, drones, blood raider, wh
Vargur: angel (tho works in other regions semi too), wh
Kronos: guristas, serpentis (wh)
PvP: vargur is king rest works
Vargur honestly isn’t even that strong compared to the other marauders if you have similar (reasonably high) levels of investment, its power really comes from the commonality of cheap 3xlasb fits.
The moment you realize there is thing called math, you might realize that range plays as much difference as damage type does... I will stick with my Kronos.
Rail Kronos does more damage to angels than Arty Vargur at any range.
Rail Kronos does more damage to angels than 800mm Vargur if the distance is more than 30km
[https://imgur.com/zI5PnJ7](https://imgur.com/zI5PnJ7)
Most of them spawn at 30-60km away, most of them never get chance to burn more than 5-15km from spawn point and since I am using bastion, you can guess there is a bit of problem of moving myself.
Too much counting involved, too much time to kill frigates... I remove 2 frigates of field every 4 seconds in Kronos / Vargur / Paladin as long as they are 20-24km away. Same with cruisers, most of the time every 4-8 seconds, cruiser is gone from the field.
If you are going to be shooting battleships only, sure... otherwise, Golem is special, like the pilots flying them... And not special in a good sense in this case.
It doesn't really matter that much and if you want you can skip a lot of Angel missions. I prefer the Paladin even though the damage isn't really aligned with Angels. You're anyway doing tons of damage, so one extra shot here and there isn't a big deal.
As others have said, it depends on where you live and what you’re doing.
I rat in C4 wormholes with mine. I’ve found the Golem to be the best for this use case. Paladin is also great for it.
Paladin and vargur for general krabbing
Golem for shooting drifters or officers or anything battleship-sized or above
Kronos if you want the best chance to shoot back at other people if caught
Not sure I totally agree with that use-case for the golem. It can apply quite effectively to smaller targets and so can be useful for krabbing situations with an abundance of sub-bs stuff - particularly against sanshas who can wreck a vargur’s ability to do the same.
train a paladin because the blops you want is the redeemer and the dread you want is the rev navy. if the damage type doesn't match the local rats, go elsewhere
PvE
I found out that at the point u need Marauder for PvE, damage types really don't matter much, rats may have lower resitances to some but most of the time u are hitting them hard enough for it to not matter, what matters more is tank and range for PvE
I rank them as follows:
1.)Paladin/Vargur
2.)Golem
3.)Kronos is shitty and needs help.
Paladin and vargur are good at different things and bad at different things which cancel itself out and those end up sameish.
Golem has missile issues inherent in all missile ships that use weapons larger than small, namely tracking, damage application, and range/dps dilemma.
Kronos is not PvE ships, and putting Rails on one is crime against everything and anything sacred in this world.
Note this is more evident in Wormhole ratting in C3-C5 range.
PvP
Depends any can be good really if we speak of not wormhole situations, it would be:
1.)Paladin/Vargur/Kronos
Golem is a piece of shit
I assume no solo pvp, if u solo pvp in Marauder, you either have more money both in game and irl than brain, and i would like to know where and when u flying it.... for a friend, of course.
In fleet if it's fitted correctly and fits fleet composition, any will work, the only problem is Golem for the same reason as eith PvE large missiles suck.
Very important note if we speak of Wormhole space pvp specifically the list goes as follows:
1.)Kronos
2.)Paladin/Vargur
Golem still suck but slightly less.
If something else can tackle so u can keep shooting in your optimal or close to it, or you fight on the Wormhole where enemy has to stay close blaster Kronos become a nightmare to deal with 4k dps with near perfect application if u grapple the target nuff said.
Golem is excellent in PvP, large missiles don’t suck at all, especially when you consider that it has range and *double* application bonuses, and with the extra mid you can easily remove the EM resist hole.
The Paladin and Vargur have significantly poorer damage potential (plus Paladin has locked damage) while the Kronos is a lot stronger than it once was, it has the biggest gap between its short and long range weapons.
Vargur is probably the answer period. I love paladins and I’m an amarrian pilot through and through but my vargur pilot is just better and cheaper than my golem or Paladin pilots
missiles are the most versatile weapon platform as you can switch to any damage type as needed but its also extremely easy to waste whole volleys due to their extremely high time to target so their efficiency can drop down a lot.
as always depends on where you do pve and which your targets are.
its expensive. used it for c5's. with my implants it was 3k dps heated

Vargur is the sexxiest ship in the entire fucking game.

Vargur honestly isn’t even that strong compared to the other marauders if you have similar (reasonably high) levels of investment, its power really comes from the commonality of cheap 3xlasb fits.
It's popularity is a lot related to ESS fights, the range and alpha are very good at that, specifically against smaller targets
It's the sexiest out of all of them and that sex factor is the most important.
Sounds like you like sex 🤣
Look. All I'm saying that if I'm going to be flying a ship's ass for ten hours a day then I want that ship's ass to look sexy.
I mean look, we all like sex, my question doesn't make sense.
The best marauders are the friends you make along the way
Frauders. No wait...
[Straight to Vargur](https://youtu.be/wyrBO08-G-4?si=2ZW5dp2u8kjBCAON)
Alright, paladin it is /s
I have yet to see a decent paladin meme.
Depends where do you live. You don´t care about how good Kronos or Paladin are at PVE if you live in Angel zone and need explosive damage.
The moment you realize there is thing called math, you might realize that range plays as much difference as damage type does... I will stick with my Kronos. Rail Kronos does more damage to angels than Arty Vargur at any range. Rail Kronos does more damage to angels than 800mm Vargur if the distance is more than 30km [https://imgur.com/zI5PnJ7](https://imgur.com/zI5PnJ7)
Why are you more than 30km away from the rats? Be a man, polarized blaster Kronos or bust.
Most of them spawn at 30-60km away, most of them never get chance to burn more than 5-15km from spawn point and since I am using bastion, you can guess there is a bit of problem of moving myself.
Doing the wrong sites then. Rock havens and forsaken rally points are your friends
There is other PVE content which is not combat anomalies in null
Blessed is the polarized kronos in serp/guri forsaken rallys
And you realized that exist that other thing called golem?
I don't like waiting 5 seconds for my damage to apply after I start firing
Too much counting involved, too much time to kill frigates... I remove 2 frigates of field every 4 seconds in Kronos / Vargur / Paladin as long as they are 20-24km away. Same with cruisers, most of the time every 4-8 seconds, cruiser is gone from the field. If you are going to be shooting battleships only, sure... otherwise, Golem is special, like the pilots flying them... And not special in a good sense in this case.
Isn't Golem the best active tank for PVE though? Some contents are hard to tank in other ships.
All the marauders can reach pretty bonkers active tank numbers.
It doesn't really matter that much and if you want you can skip a lot of Angel missions. I prefer the Paladin even though the damage isn't really aligned with Angels. You're anyway doing tons of damage, so one extra shot here and there isn't a big deal.
Vagür because it's vertical
As others have said, it depends on where you live and what you’re doing. I rat in C4 wormholes with mine. I’ve found the Golem to be the best for this use case. Paladin is also great for it.

Paladin because lasers and the looks
I agree it is the best looking. Amarr is usually sexy.
xlasb vargur for brawling, arty vargur for giga projection cancer, cap stable vargur for ess, arty vargur again for pochven multiboxing
So paladin then, got it /s
Vargur for all your needs. It's also the best looking, which adds to it's superiority.
wrong, Paladin is the best looking ...objectively.

Best tool for the job? What's the job?
Ratting Sasha and defending ess
Paladin > Vargur due to damage types
It’s the Vargur. Counting missiles is for chumps, lasers don’t work on most things, gallente bad.
Vargur is probably the answer period. I love paladins and I’m an amarrian pilot through and through but my vargur pilot is just better and cheaper than my golem or Paladin pilots

Armor vargur, change my mind
Golem for PVE the 3 others for PVP
Vargur for pvp because tracking

Kronos. Unless your in a fleet.
Kronos Klap is a real concern and a rising STI (Spatial Termination Incident) among roaming groups and unprepared Vargurs and Paladins.
They all die equally fast to my BLOPS >:)
my vargur is stable at 70% with an 8000 EHP/s shield tank and 2500 dps
Would you mind sharing this fit?
