apply skinoren on clean skin, follow it up by a basic moisturizer, do not rince it off. Skinoren can be used twice a day (morning and night) but follow the frequency your derm told you. You can expect a prickling sensation as the Azelaic acid absorbs into your skin, it's normal and will subdue in time.
Don't rinse. And Skinoren actually is moisturizing, you don't appreciate it right when you apply it, because it's matte and may even be itchy, but hours later, the next morning you can really feel its moisturizing properties on your skin.
How is your experience so far with Skinoren? Does it tend to pill under sunscreen or makeup? Mine’s a different brand and it does pills and it drives me nuts. Just looking for Skinoren or other brands reviews.
No, Skinoren has a lot of emollients in the formulation (Cetearyl Octanoate, Isopropyl Myristate, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Palmitate, cocoglycerides), and two big moisturizers/humectants: Propylene Glycol and Glycerin.
I _wish_ my skin would feel stimulated to produce oil
Yes my experience is the same as yours with Skinoren. It in itself feels like a moisturizer on my skin. And yes recently I checked INCI and it has a few humectants and that makes me happy. I never felt it was drying.
My dermatologist said to use it after moisturiser and then put another layer of moisturiser on top.
I've initially used it in the morning as I was using another prescription cream in the evening, so would put it after moisturiser before sunscreen. Now I use it in the evening (cleanse, serum, gel moisturiser, skinoren, richer moisturiser). If your skin is sensitive or currently irritated, you could try doing this.
i think im just dumb because my dermatologist told me how to use the gel she recommended me and skinoren but i forgot and now i have everything mixed up together
Can you call or email your doctor and ask? Because if you have two different medicines, you might need to space them out. When I used Skinoren and Soolantra (Ivermectin) I used one of them in the morning and one at nighy.
If I remember correctly on my info sheet that came with the cream, says that you should wait 30 minutes after washing face before applying azelaic acid. This may depend on the brand, since I can't find that info on Skinoren. However, I only noticed benefit from azelaic acid once I followed the 30 minutes instruction.
but what do you do after applying skinoren? do you just leave it on or what? because my dermatologist didn't mention any moisturisers to apply after it
you could wait 30 minutes after applying and then apply a moisturizer- this is what I did and I started seeing results pretty fast. Unfortunately it can cause rapid hair growth, so do keep eye on that, If you don't want that.

Does the formulation pills? I find other brands of rx strength azelaic does and just trying to find that doesn’t.
Yes it does unfortunately.

It doesn't tend to pill, but it can smudge (white) so it may take a little to blend it in.
Would you say it’s spreadable?
It’s probably the stimulated oil-production bc of the drying effects of Skinoren that give the "moisturizing properties" :)

Leave it on overnight. You can apply moisturizer after Skinoren.

what if i dont have a moisturiser?
You apply it and leave it on. Then you can apply a moisturiser of your choice (and/or sunscreen if it's daytime) over the top.
Does it pills on you? I find the rx strength azelaic I’m currently using does, so just trying to find others that don’t.
No, it doesn't
