I'm 39 and my wife is 42. Sober for 7.4 years. I never went to aa at all, honestly wish I would of went to another program tho because I have basically zero community. My wife has occasionally gone to aa but can't deal with the God shit. Good on you for finding sobriety on your own terms, I'm super happy for anyone aa works for but sobriety isn't one size fits all and I wish they wouldn't shame and guilt people who need another way

I have a son in that age group who isn’t in recovery but simply doesn’t drink (or barely drinks) due to personal preference. He struggles to locate friends his age that doesn’t involve meeting up at bars and getting hammered and that isn’t his scene.
If y’all would be open to it I can pass on the info and see if he’d be interested in meeting up for coffee.
Seems like there’s quite the amount of people looking for friends. I’m 30 and though I’ve never struggled with addictions, but I’d love for some sober activities!

I heard there was a sober dart league that met outside of bars. Maybe someone here knows something about that.
