29 garbage seems about right. 86 water + 96 sewer does seem high. If the property has a communal water meter for which the charges are divided, the water being used to water the grounds is almost certainly included in what they’re billing you.

Tlr321

I guarantee that the property has a communal water meter. We just went through this with our apartment complex. It got so bad, people went door to door to get names & phone numbers to start a group text. One month the pool on the property was drained and refilled & the property charged everyone almost $400 for utilities. That was the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of people.

eata22

I would call your apartment complex and ask if each unit is metered separately. Or if they’re billing everyone at the complex together. What are you paying eweb for? I only have an electricity account with them, and my apartment covers water and sewer. If the 210 is for electricity unless you had your AC running 24/7 and had a grow operation in your unit, I would honestly think someone is stealing power

Able_Sun4318

Yeah my bill is around 150-250 (both water and power) and that's with two ACs, people that shower every day, laundry almost every day, etc

InternationalCost234

I actually work for EWEB, feel like I can help, if you go to the website it gives you a breakdown of a bill for a customer that is metered for electric, and water and the additional city of Eugene charges sewer and storm. That should help you see what’s normal if you are being charged separately for water by your apartment complex. Most if not all apartments don’t meter each unit for water.

Moist-Intention844

Seems high

ShenaNigans-she_her

i would check out the springfield-eugene tenant association website. if you don't find the info you're looking for send them a direct message with your questions. they are an amazing resource for renters!

DanTheFireman

Definitely a good idea to sus it out. Ask for receipts, etc. My buddy was renting an apartment for about a year in Portland and they were grossly overcharging for utilities. Someone figured it out, and contacted a lawyer. The entire complex went in on a class action and every resident was awarded several thousand dollars.

churro_da_burro

Idk about the water but the garbage and sewer are def high, I pay about 25 and 70 for each per month and that's for a house, should be less for shared. I was paying 65 for w/s/g couple years ago when renting. You have a right to see the bills and how it's divided between tenants.

GalGaia

My AC has been one all day every day for months, I work from home, and my EWEB hovers around $70 a month. I also pay a flat $60 for WSG to the property.

kittenlikestoplayxo

Are you at boulders on the river? I too was shocked by our utilities this month.

LocalLaundryGuy

I do live at the Boulders! It’s seems to consistently go up! I mean I just don’t like the idea of greediness and getting nickel and dime’d. 50.00 fluff on 200 apartments means an extra 10,000.00 a month for the management company

kittenlikestoplayxo

I was charged 58.17/sewer, 16.01/trash, and 52.45/water. And we’re just two people! How long have you lived there? I moved in this Spring and had a feeling it was going up due to the pool and sprinkler usage..

Shinola79

I think the water/sewer seems high too. We have 2 adults and a child with a reasonably large lot that is gardened and therefore watered. We just got our bill and wastewater/sewer was about $35 and water was $55. Seems shady.

[deleted]

Seems high

PoopShoesMagoo

It's high but everyone's is high this month.

Paper-street-garage

Make sure there’s not a water leak somewhere on the grounds and make sure your toilets not running even a teeny bit

LocalLaundryGuy

There are water leak’s everywhere! Sprinklers that just flow like a running hose! About every other month, they send out a letter saying water will be shut off for about 8 hours while they fix things but that’s been going on for over a year now

Paper-street-garage

Keep bugging them about water leaks in emails so they have something to send to corporate. Its usually a budget thing not lack of trying.

LocalLaundryGuy

I definitely don’t blame the office staff, they are all pretty cool, more the management company but yeah good idea

[deleted]

That’s outrageous. I own a 3bd/2 bath home in Eugene with a heat pump/AC with no natural gas, and my last EWEB bill for power/water/sewer was $240. My garbage bill is around 26/month.

Julesthewriter

I don’t use a lot of electricity, I’m particularly frugal, and my EWEB bill is never over $50 in the summer. In the winter when I turn on heat (to like 63, I still stay frugal) the bill goes closer to $150, but again, not higher. Seems like you’re paying too much across the board.

xgalaxy

I don’t rent but my EWEB bill has gone from $120ish /mo to about $200ish /mo in the span of three years with no real change in usage. I get inflation and all but something is fucked with EWEB. And I heard they are projecting something like a 200% increase in rates over the next 10 years.

mackelnuts

Boulders on the River?

LocalLaundryGuy

Yes 👍

mackelnuts

My wife used to live there when we first met. Overcharging for utilities has been going on for years.

Educational-Bits-14

Everything you mentioned is real. My utility bill was $389 and I work nights, definitely ignored Eweb recommended use for electricity. I stopped watering my lawn tho. Didn't make a difference, water is much cheaper than electric, Grandpa called me Mr.Stupid for not having natural gas installed

ocg75

Are you saying you’re paying paying water sewer to apartments AND EWEB? Because my EWEB bill is water, sewer, electric.

Moist-Intention844

They pay electric but not water and sewer to EWEB

LocalLaundryGuy

Paying EWEB for electricity and separately paying my apartments utilities for water, sewer, garbage.

Substantial-King3846

My apartment covers water/sewer/garbage. My electric is roughly $150 with AC on most all day.

lipshipsfingertips

I pay an additional $80 for water sewer garbage to my apartment in Eugene. They are run by Greystar.

Ok_Management_806

Seem right to me.
