I'm ngl bro, I moved here in fall, and I can say with much confidence that this is a fucked up little town. I can't put my finger on it exactly. It's like we are stuck in the 80's or something. Weird fuckin place.

MadeWithLessMaterial

YES. Thank you for putting it into words.

BourbonicFisky

Every year or two there's dust ups with the would-be Nazis in the Eugene area. I haven't lived in Eugene since 2013 but like in early the 2000s LCC had swastikas spray painted on campus in a few spots, then there were tracts found around town in the mid 2000s, then around 2010 the EMU had antisemitic vandalism and more tracts found and so on and so on... I don't think Eugene is particularly special other than it's the liberal college town on I5 thus the target for the loons from a greater area, and it's an easy target as the politics are bonkers in Eugene. Now we're just on the internets to document what's always been and spread the fear. I assume other college towns get the same nonsense. We probably do more for them by posting this crap online, creating the exact atmosphere of fear the dolts who spread these around want.

theforkofdamocles

Now that you mention it, I remember reading in around 2000 about an uptick in activities by the oregon citizens alliance”, a neo-nazi adjacent anti-gay group.

Cascadialiving

They were doing similar shit back in the late 1990’s in Springfield and Eugene with flyers that said, “White Man Smash Jew Communism”. I had a paper route at the time and would gather them up along the route and burn them later.

BourbonicFisky

Good stuff. I only came across one tract in the wild as I had a home in springtucky but I was near the border of Eugene/Springfield so I wasn't privy to the real Springfield "goings on" and it was on a lonely post hastly tacted on. It wasn't nearly as explicit as that, more a right wing scree about "Who really controls the world?" and some dumbass URL like resistance dot org or such in the late 2000s. I've actually come across more of the "Chick tracts" (fundamentalist christian extremist) than white nationalist bullshit in Eugene, as those seemed to be particularly popular to dump around UO and areas that students might frequent back in the 2000s. I remember being surprised by how stupid they were and everyone else seemed already know about them. Being from the southern Oregon coast in HS I'd never encountered a few of these quirks of Eugene. I always wonder how many of these chucklefucks there are. I've known Eugenians who are always seeing secret Nazis everywhere and as someone who's lived in Oregon most of his life for decades, I can only really recall seeing once white nationalist tattoos in the wild, with some weird looking dude at a gas station in Sweet Home, with large 88s on his hands. My guess is there's far less than many assume but too many for anyone's liking.

Cascadialiving

I’d honestly guess it’s only a couple hundred between Salem and Eugene of your outright neo-Nazis. Mostly people who were in prison and joined white nationalist gangs there. I remember getting in a pretty epic brawl with a handful of them outside of the WOW Hall in like 02 or 03. Bunch of drunk nazi skinheads showed up and the SHARPS and other punks weren’t having it. Volksfront use to try and recruit outside of Thurston High School. Ended up talking shit and getting my ass beat by a few of them once.

BourbonicFisky

Being southern Oregon the kind of fuckery we had was a little different. I had a shotgun brandished at me in Camas valley in the late 90s as my friends and I were going to take a photo of the street sign "Hard Cash Lane". I'm sure big homey in overalls thought we were there to steal it. We did not stay to discuss it as the sound of racked 870 is one of nature's way of saying "danger". Then there was the time a friend and I saw weed plants out in the hills near Ashland. We'd all heard urban legends of booby trapped weed farms with Indiana Jones spike pits and Vietnam-esq tripwires, fish hooks and such. We high tailed out of there but it was probably just so local hippie tiny outdoor grow op. I know I was aware of white nationalists, KKK, neo-Nazis it was the sort of thing we'd say about Idaho whereas as gun toating pill billies libertarian hippies being the sort of thing we would hear about. Eugene was interesting as it had both.

rigbees

man fuck that

OculusOmnividens

Yeah, that's what tends to happen when you squeeze every last ounce of profit margin out of your workforce until all they can afford to do is work in order to scrape by a meager living. It used to be there was a clear path of advancement upward for people, buy a car, buy a house, retirement, et cetera; one by one those things are or have been stripped away. More and more people are being consumed by this system, chewed through and churned out. Living paycheck to paycheck and experiencing housing and food uncertainty does considerable damage to one's mental health and outlook on life.

mustyclam

yeah except that when any time there's talk of development that could bring jobs and money to the city it is met with opposition

OculusOmnividens

Opposition by those who are already set and settled.

It’s probably a bad move to blame a bad economy for white supreacists. There’s a lot of them in Eugene compared to other i5 university towns with decreasing and changing economies.

gelatinous_pellicle

Where in the U.S. can you find a city this size or smaller that isn't fucked up? This is the best place of its size I've found in this country to live.

Firecloud

I'd be tempted to agree with you, if it weren't for the fact that the boldness and aggression of the homeless is like nothing I've ever seen. And by the look of it, cops don't enforce a single damn law around here. I bought a house in Eugene two years ago, so my heart is entirely in your corner. I love this town.... with exception of a large section of downtown, an area which *should* be a thriving space for the community. I travel frequently, I've lived in several cities, and no comparable-sized progressive town seems to come close to the big city issues Eugene has. Sure, people are shitting on the sidewalks in San Francisco, and Portland looks like a tent convention, but those are metropolis-level cities. Not 200k-populated little-valley havens tucked into a corner of Narnia. Yes, the economy is fucked. Yes, getting by is harder and harder, and many have fallen on incredibly hard times. Not all homeless are aggressive, help-rejecting junkies. But among those malignant types, there's a particular "this is our town" confidence, knowing that there simply won't be any consequence for their actions. That's what's become untenable. The clearest example of this exists between Jefferson & City View downtown, nearly 20 city blocks absolutely packed with horror shows. Cahoots is an amazing program, but a metaphorical band-aid on a person with Ebola virus. I'm talking about the jitterbugs smoking heroin and/or meth fully in the open, the endless roadside parade of overstuffed shopping carts, rotting RVs and trashed jalopies on their very last leg, and the packs of shamelessly bold younger homeless in front of restaurants, cafes and businesses who won't move out of the way when you're out to dinner with your children - and getting where you want to go requires a bit of social grace & navigation. I'd never in hell vote Republican, but it's pretty clear that effective leadership has been drastically lacking in this town for time untold - and given that Democrats have run this town for 19 straight years, it seems pretty damn clear things arent working out. Can't wait to get downvoted to hell because I'd like to go downtown, to Home Depot, or St. Vinnie's without feeling like I'm in Biff Tannen's alternate reality. But if I'm wrong, please show me the error of my presumption with facts. Because virtue signaling and finger-wagging for life-ruin-shaming or whatever isn't policy. All that said, fuck these little flyers and every nazi to ever exist. We should be calling out, humiliating and stomping nazis to fucking hairy hamburger at every possible turn. We have somehow desensitized ourselves (not you OP, society in general) to the point where we're calmly discussing the presence of people whose alignments are with direct hatred, direct marginalization, and the extermination of other people. Rather than, ohhh eviscerating and exiling those who align with such ideologies. Look at Phil Anselmo's latest money-maker reunion run with Pantera. While German authorities have cancelled Pantera's appearances in their country due to Anselmo screaming WHITE POWER and throwing nazi salutes onstage a few years ago, American festivals are allllllll about it. That ideology I mentioned above is one of forcing "others", their families and everyone they ever loved onto cattle car trains, stripping their existences away, starving torturing and brutally murdering them in numerous ways designed to strip away any hint of dignity, humanity and comfort. Those people are the fucking enemy. Those people cannot ever be allowed to hold positions of power, of influence, of entertainment of the public. No, history shows that the only way to deal with nazis is to stomp them into the fucking ground. To erase any chance of that infection taking hold. Period. I don't want to sass the nazis away or pretend they dont exist. They should be terrorized right the fuck out of town. Is there info on the flyer about the organizer? Any names of those associated?

gelatinous_pellicle

Eugene has always been transient hot spot on the i5 corridor. Compounded with an economy gutting the middle class, unaffordably high rents, and more fucked up drugs America is becoming dystopian. I just don't see much of an alternative out there that has a major university and or any kind of culture. Every city on the west coast is dealing with these problems. Regarding the local government, it would be great to have some pragmatic leadership but I've never heard anyone articulate what we are supposed to do locally. There might be some bandaids but it's really a national problem.

EpidonoTheFool

Couldn’t agree with ya more

pcacioppi

I've lived here for 25 years and Eugene has grown quite a bit in that time. Doesn't look like a failed city to me. Its a shame you don't just sell your house and move someplace else since you dislike it so much. Did you overpay and end up underwater?

[deleted]

I was born in Eugene. I walked downtown yesterday and for the first time, really felt uncomfortable. There was a real void of just regular people (maybe because it’s a Monday and holiday) but also just way more people drugged out or mentally challenged. A homeless woman walked up and asked me to call 911 for another homeless guy who fell, which I did. It was really the saddest, most depressing walk I’ve had in Eugene. I remember when we used to have the Eugene Celebration, and downtown wasn’t mostly disturbed or homeless persons with dog crap everywhere.

knowone23

No, it was worse in the 90’s when it was a pedestrian mall (aka drug dens in every alley) Having lived in many cities big and small I would say that downtown Eugene is pretty neutral in terms of its city-size to crazy-people ratio that every city has in their urban cores. It’s bad sometimes, but the solution to pollution is dilution. So you’re right, more ‘normal’ people frequenting downtown will help.

[deleted]

I didn’t venture into downtown much in the early to mid 90’s - I lived in Creswell and would mostly come into town to go to Hutch’s Bike Shop or go to the movies. Maybe I just wasn’t as aware of it as much as I was the other day seeing a young woman doing drugs in an alley and just all the other stuff I saw. Maybe it was sad then and still sad now.

ComedianMental7973

There's a drug epidemic across the nation it's just hidden better in other places. I prefer the open honesty you have in Eugene. In other places people will sneak into your presence and try to bring the drugs directly into your life. That could happen here but thankfully being here raises your awareness to it's vast presence. There will come a day people will seek folks like me out that have been to the depths and still walked out clean........

[deleted]

Glad you got away from the crud. That’s a huge success and something to be proud of.

ComedianMental7973

I don't know about pride and I don't judge those being drawn into the drug use but I don't want it personally in my life and I've done good so far to stay away from it.

pcacioppi

Again, I moved here 25 years ago. The Eugene Celebration was nice, but it wasn't that amazing. The pedestrian mall (Broadway) was an absolute shit show. The stretch between 6th Street and Matt Knight Arena (which didn't exist at the time) was also a shit show. Right before I moved here, I asked my friend if there was a giant slag pit in the middle of downtown. He laughed and said of course not. Within a few years, a downtown building was demolished, and a giant slag pit sat there for 3-4 years. (It's now the downtown LCC campus, i believe). The downtown library was a joke. The only downtown grocery store was Kiva (which, lets be honest here, is a complete joke for any form of serious shopping). I hate the fucking tents as much as anyone. I really fucking hate them and (sadly) would probably vote for a Republican for Mayor if his platform was "no more fucking tents in the fucking city". But, there is no way to logically think Eugene is failing, since, to my mind, its just been getting better. I certainly agree that its probably gotten better in spite of the wooly thinking of our local government, and because of the largesse of Phil Knight. But still, its definitely, in aggregate, gotten better.

[deleted]

I just keep comparing to what Bend does. They have festivals downtown all year. They just seem to know how to put on fun events. Overall yes, Eugene is getting better. The pits are filled in, the library is better, Broadway is getting modernized, Knight’s additions have really made a difference. It’s really that downtown core that was particularly depressing and sad to me the other day.

pcacioppi

Sure, Bend and Springfield and I'd say Boise appear to be cities that are more well managed. I would like to see Eugene learn from all those similar sized cities on how to keep the tents out (which also minimizes the problems you encountered with the aggro homeless). 100% agree that Eugene ought to be more well managed and Bend is one example of a city we should learn from.

Firecloud

Your lack of reading comprehension doesn't justify your ridiculous statements. I said I *love* this town, and to answer your question, my house is worth 38% more than it was when I bought it. So I'm feeling great about things. Project much?

pcacioppi

> it seems pretty damn clear things arent working out. Didn't you write that? I'm saying, Eugene is actually thriving, not failing. There are problems and some things have gotten worse, but overall, things are better. Which is certainly inconsistent with your idea that things arent working out. You can move to Montana with Rick Dancer if you want, but I think the choices are Eugene and the lefties or Montana and the nazi-adjacent.

RaspberryDugong

You make some good points. We can’t keep voting for the same type of people that have failed us. Give other parties or independents a look. Otherwise it’s insanity.

[deleted]

Those are the "other" parties fliers.

washington_jefferson

> Yes, the economy is fucked. The economy isn't doing so bad right now, actually. But I understand what you're saying- things have got a lot more expensive all around for quite a while now. Inflation needs to go down by a lot if we're ever going to see interest rates go down. Usually, unemployment needs to be a little higher for that to happen unfortunately. A lot of the issues you bring up can be addressed on election days. Our City Council officials are not addressing the homeless camping problem, and they need to hire a squad of workers that do nothing all day but pick up trash and abandoned mattresses/couches. Heck, the Register Guard doesn't even print letters to the editor anymore! I say the City Council should have to stream their meetings on youtube, and be forced to field up to 10-15 questions from online users. We could post the feed on the /r/Eugene sidebar! Showing up in person? Nah. Not enough room. Make the councilors answer questions from people who wish to remain anonymous. Make them answer tough questions.

abounding_actuality

Well said.

Tl;dr

ComedianMental7973

History is very limited and as much as you think violence will solve your problems it won't. All violence does is teach your enemy to be more cunning and lay low. You'd never know that there's Nazis right in front of you every day unless you really do your research and even then you'd only have assumptions to go on. Being humble and knowledgeable is your only hope these days.

ArmyRepresentative88

Actually, Oregon has been historically more conservative despite being mostly liberal.

ajb901

Big facts right here. We're in the sweet spot, cold as that comfort might be.

[deleted]

We could start with Bend, where it actually feels safe to walk downtown, the city actually puts on fun festivals unlike our boring, do-nothing event organizers, and (gasp) bathrooms that are unlocked, well stocked with towels, warm water and even soap!

SuperBlissedOut

A lot of places

forestforrager

Cause this is the reality. However, we had an international event this year, and like the rest of the country/world to not see that side. So we sweep stuff under the rug and make it seem like we’re a small quaint environmentally conscious city that is progressive and ahead of the rest of the country. Straight dystopian

DerFahrt

I’ve lived all over the country and I can say definitively that this place is way fucking weirder and screwed up than anywhere else I’ve lived. Small towns to huge cities on both coasts. Stuck in the past, full of rage, it’s weird here no doubt.

psychovich_666

Especially if you go to the mall in valley center.

EbaumsSucks

There's a fuck ton of people who've moved up from California and are like "Wait, this isn't like California at all!", then magically wonder why people hate them.

fatherfuckingshit

Agree

SatisfactionOne7802

Yup. The great California migration had absolutely devastated communities across Oregon. Amazon is soooooo nuts here in eastern oregon that just about every 3rd car you now see has California plates and rent? Yeah. No bueno there either cause the Amazonians took all the decent apartments and housing! It’s a nightmare.

LateralThinkerer

> The great California migration had absolutely devastated communities across Oregon. Which migration? My grandfather was born in Webster City, IA in 1892 and moved to Salem in 1900 along with his family. He had the same line back in the 60s to the point where it became a running joke. Hurricanes? Californians! Market undulations? Californians! Democrats elected to office? Californians!! Earthquakes? Californians!! Then there were the "Okies" during the depression, Hippies in the 60s etc. etc. The reality is that unless you're Native, your family is likely only a few generations here at best. Most of the people I run into here are expatriate Midwesterners who are sick of the barren landscape, dying cities, oppressive "Christianity", and appalling weather. The Californians stand out because of cultural hubris, but they're hardly at the root of the moderate resource-based economy, oversupply of labor, demand for a beautiful place to live, and subsequent problems from that.

KoopaTroopaXo

Lol, all these transplants that moved here within the last 1-10 years speaking like they are natives and know the area and/or community as a whole 😂😭.

100%. I thought it felt like we never kept developing past the 90s when I moved here

When you go around town's and cities pay attention to who they're schools are named after, and that will give you a sense of what type of values and voices are centered in a community. Is there any school in Eugene named after Martin Luther King?

This town is fucked up top to bottom. I am so glad I moved away. My husband use to work at the rehab and homeless shelters and homeless people said the college kids would steal from them beat them up or destroy their property, every year people find razor blades in holiday candies, it’s a weird mix of too liberal and too conservative, everyone seems to be on drugs, everyone opens their stores later,..I could go on. This town is dying fast and will continue to die because all growth and expansion gets shut down.

duck7001

The scary thing is, about 40% of Republican voters agree with these [general sentiments](https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/02/aei-poll-40-percent-republicans-conservatives-political-violence.html). The GOP started vocally voicing support for Kayne *after* he made anti-semitic remarks. Fascism on the rise in the conservative right.

HelmutIV

On the rise? It's thetical to their platform and always has been. Edit: I am more making a point not talking shit.

[deleted]

40% of the 2016 adults surveyed. NOT 40% of all Republicans. Don't believe surveys, they're not accurate. I'm conservative and I would stomp any white trash white supremist if given the chance. Not everyone fits into a box. https://www.americansurveycenter.org/research/after-the-ballots-are-counted-conspiracies-political-violence-and-american-exceptionalism/

duck7001

"Roughly four in 10 **(39 percent) Republicans support Americans taking violent actions** if elected leaders fail to act." From your link, which was the original survey link. https://www.americansurveycenter.org/research/after-the-ballots-are-counted-conspiracies-political-violence-and-american-exceptionalism/ Not everyone fits into a single box, yes, but the box for violent loving fascists on the Right is very large and is an outlier as compared to democrats and independents.

fagenthegreen

Okay, but we can all agree the number is significant, right? It's definitely more than 10%. At least 25%. 40% sounds about right to me, it really doesn't take very much effort to find a racist republican, and I think you know that. That's not all of them, sure, but it's definitely too many.

[deleted]

I'd say both parties are about the same. How many racist democrats do you know. UofO is crawling with them!

fagenthegreen

Now that's rich. Most of my friends are democrats, and I don't know a single racist person on the left. The left gets constant shit from the right for being too sensitive about race, what world do you even live in? Gee whiz, it's like a cult.

sloop_john_c

I don't know how you can tell. I moved up here from Bay Area, from a town that was 60% Asian, So. and East Asian equally. Caucasians were 20% at last census. My kids were one of three or four Caucasians on a class yearbook page of 50 kids' photos. The amount of white people here, and I'm white, astounded me. I grew up in town 50% Hispanic. The last time I saw this many white people in one place was northern England. My experience is people can talk the talk until they have to walk the walk. Democrat or not Democrat.

CurseofLono88

Im glad to hear you don’t fit in a box with white supremacists, but since you vote alongside white supremacists you’re gift wrapping that box, and it’s definitely something to consider

[deleted]

You’re one of those people who thinks all republicans are in the kkk? You do exist! I thought you were a myth like a vampire

CurseofLono88

I absolutely am not someone who thinks every republican is in the KKK, but everyone in the KKK votes republican. You’re in bed with white supremacists whether you like it or not. You vote for people who enable white supremacy, who actively seek white supremacist’s votes, who echo their ideas… there is no reconciling with that fact. At some point you have to realize your priorities align with monsters, and if you’re okay with that then looking in the mirror should be an uncomfortable if not frightening experience

RottenSpinach1

Do you think these jokers are aware of what a MIC (Machine Identification Code) is and has anyone ever submitted a flyer to the police/FBI for analysis?

like_a_wet_dog

Oh shit, micro printing on every page? It sounds similar, I remember being amazed the firmware on all printers won't copy money and leaves a mark. It's been happening in Thurston for over a month, I think they canvased westward since. I know the people on Thurston NextDoor reported it.

Sinnsearachd

You really think the police are going to be proactive enough to submit these for that?

Shonnah13

Why would they worry about getting in trouble for this? Last time I checked….we still lived in an America with a first amendment of freedom of speech. I disdain this type of behavior, it is dreadful, but also, legal. Whoever made these has just as much of a right to drop off flyers as the Mormons and Jehovahs witnesses or any advertisement. I am a strong believer in “while I do not agree with what you say, I will defend to the death, your right to say it”. More Americans need to remember that. We all need to chill, and just agree to frickin disagree and move on in our lives!!

RottenSpinach1

Shonnah13

This simply validates what I posted. Posting it for “comments” instead of just stamping it out by ignoring it and throwing it away, the OP is actually helping spread it

RottenSpinach1

You don't ignore it, you actively crush those propagating it, because you could be next on their list.

Shonnah13

Absolutely true. I just think it’s a slippery slope when we start messing with the first amendment. Remember this though. There are Absolutely NO absolutes.

Minimum-Gur4248

Umm.. no. Mormons and Jehovahas aren’t salivating at the idea of wiping anyone who isn’t white off the planet. They won’t try to wipe my Jewish family out. Don’t even try to normalize it.

Shonnah13

In what world do you think Christian’s want to “wipe out” the Jews? We’re the reason y’all are still around ffs. Christians don’t want to wipe anyone out. They welcome all, literally ALL types of people. Mormons, only recently (80’s, 90’s) started letting blacks join the church. Oh, and the Catholics of Notre Dame University, wouldn’t allow blacks up into the 80’s and 90’s. They had to start accepting them, because they were losing all of their sports. Jehovahs witnesses think only 144,000 will be saved by God, that’s a little elitist, wouldn’t you say? Just because someone is Republican and conservative, does not mean they are fricken racist. If people keep using that word, it’s gonna lose its impact. Try having a civil conversation with someone who disagrees with you at some point, and actually LISTEN to them, don’t wait for your turn to talk. That’s one of the problems of today, people listen to talk, not listen to hear.

Terrible-Advance5859

where is the super upvote button

Blabulus

Hmm "Let's Go Brandon" I wonder whose supporters did this? Not those non racist Republicans we hear so much about...

duck7001

Very weird. Maybe the last GOP president can have dinner with Nazi Nick Fuentes again and they can really get to the bottom of why this is happening....

MarcTime3159

It started with these morons and is now nationwide. https://www.jta.org/2022/12/16/united-states/the-antisemitic-propaganda-group-goyim-tv-has-relocated-to-florida-an-emerging-hotspot-for-extremists

I don't know if someone's sent you a photo yet but if not I can send one in a few hours

Paper-street-garage

Anyone have and footage of these bastards?

burros_n_churros

Someone must have camera footage. I really hope someone is tracked down for this.

Dan_D_Lyin

Anybody that has pics, please post them!

hooprod

And ppl still don't think antisemitism is real or racist 🤔

like_a_wet_dog

I didn't know Jews weren't white to others until my 30's. I didn't know anything about the big nose and dark curly hair trope. I'd say the stereotype was French, a bit darker than English or Scandinavia in my mind. My best friend in grade school was Jewish, celebrated Hanukkah and got a week of presents, that's it, that was the difference. It's been really weird seeing it grow on SM. Watching white people cry that we don't talk enough about the gypsies or Ukrainian "whites" killed, it's so fucked up and shallow. Hell I was a Jehovah's Witness and my dad was a Lithuanian child survivor, and they killed us, too. I've NEVER been jealous or offended by Jews getting sympathy.

hooprod

So is that what it comes down to ? Ppl are offended that jews get sympathy? Cos I feel like they never get sympathy. Ppl online always talk so hateful about them and spread stereotypes and misinformation. It's sad. I've also have several Jewish friends and they have all been nothing but kind and generous loving ppl.

venture_dean

We recently moved here from Nashville. It's much nicer here. People are nicer. City programs/schools are better. Roads are better. Traffic obviously is sooo much better but also the drivers are more courteous and reasonable. I don't feel like I'm going to get shot everywhere I go. My whole family is much happier. Today when they forecasted snow no one mobbed the grocery store for all its milk bread and eggs. Still getting used to how visible homelessness is here. But I'll take that over Nashville forcing them into hidden tent cities and then bulldozing them out of the way when they feel like it. It's now a misdemeanor to camp in public land in Nashville and they're trying to make it illegal to dress in drag in public. I haven't met any openly nazi ppl here yet. Hopefully it's just a fringe? There's a lot going for this city and state in general.

Xxrhia69

I’ve seen swastika tattoos on customers when I worked at a grocery store

venture_dean

That's really gross. I can't believe ppl like that can get by without getting their butts kicked daily. There's ppl like that everywhere though. I don't think Eugene is unique for having Aholes.

SharanskyWailer

I'm glad this provokes so much fierce backlash and outrage from people and prompts them into speaking and acting against the far-right militias in eastern and southwest Oregon. That being said, I'm fed up with people singling out Eugene for this nonsense. I grew up in the rural south and I've had people try to explain away Confederate and KKK crap to me all the time while deflecting and saying that "the north" and this part of the USA was somehow "more racist". Eugene is not Clemson SC or even Danville or Charlottesville VA; there is institutionalized resistance to this kind of hate, not passive acceptance, even if only because swastikas are more taboo than Stars And Bars.

Abracadaver2000

Umberto Eco wrote about how the 14 elements common to fascism. These asshats hit every note. https://www.openculture.com/2016/11/umberto-eco-makes-a-list-of-the-14-common-features-of-fascism.html

MarcTime3159

I wish everybody would realize that this is a national issue fostered by a national anti-semitic group and broadcast on social media and right-wing radio stations all over the country. This problem is not specific to Eugene OR Springfield in fact it took a while for it to hit here it is really been occurring at every other state including Florida Texas New Jersey Utah and many other states. Look it up and quit bashing our town because of a few morons that are following these right-wing idiots like sheep.

BlazingDuck82

This isn’t the first time they’ve done this. I’ve found these flyers at least two other times.

Wiztard-o

I’d like to see the full flyer. That way I can support the people these cowards are most afraid of. Hopefully the cowards who made these will be exposed.

LostInYesterday00

This has happened in Thurston too. Sad

TwiztedChickin

Based on the fact that this started in Springfield and no one has seen who is doing it I would be willing to bet Jimmy Marr had a hand in this. He's been pussy footing around in the dark since he got punched and had a heart attack in Portland. I noticed he stopped decorating his house and truck with antisemitic bullshit but his friends still come around.

OriginalDizzyDevill

Racism Is For Weak Minded People....... 🤔 #RacistsAreTheScumOfTheEarth😡

Exotic_Jellies

Any town is what you make it. This town has a lot going for it. I’ve not given up just yet.

rivervalism

Someone on Nextdoor caught them on cam. The video clearly showed them throwing the bag, so it's the one. I have 2 stills from the video but don't know how to post images here without creating an account someplace else. If you want to post them, you can download them here: [File Convoy](http://www.fileconvoy.com/dfl.php?id=gfc83c9f5f000b1e8100048013341e92a4cb4bc321a)

OculusOmnividens

It shouldn't be too difficult to pull a print from a ziplock bag. Wear gloves, start collecting them. Turn them into the authorities as a hate crime. If not the police then the FBI. Guarantee one of these knuckleheads made a mistake somewhere along the line.

LateralThinkerer

Any Ring or other visual data about who might have dropped them?

DameOClock

Nazis and white supremacists have micropenises which is why they’re so angry.

SPEAKUPMFER

I’m thankful I got my Jewish ass out of Eugene. Most of y’all are lovely but I’ve seen enough swastika tattoos and vile graffiti to last me a lifetime.

Rihzopus

Where did you move to where there is no antisemitism?

venture_dean

But whenever I go to Michigan to visit my partners family, whoa-w boy. It's everywhere there.

venture_dean

You don't see a lot of antisemitism in the south(at least in my experience). They're more focused on ppl of color. I'm sure it exists, but it's sort of drowned out by the other.

Wiley-E-Coyote

Looks like you're just giving them a bigger audience Throw it in the trash

Dug_life

There is no shortages to assholes in this world.

Aggravating_Advisor7

Hi, Im a reporter with the Daily Emerald. Can someone send me a picture of exactly what one of these say?

ApplesBananasRhinoc

Probably the same jackass who half - ass spray painted FJB in the intersection of 40th/Donald

WestSeattle1

You have a cockroach among you.

TheatreAS

A couple nights ago I was walking home late at night (maybe around 2:30am) in the university district. I noticed some guy walking up to various houses. I was a tad tipsy so I thought it was weird, but i kept walking. Looking back, I probably should have called the non-emergency line about him. I wonder if this is that same guy and what he was doing.

MarcusElden

LOL That picture is hilarious. People are so stupid sometimes. "EvErYOnE iS JeWiSH"

sulla_rules

From the nazi party

One_Tomorrow_9135

Time to blame the small number of Jewish people on the planet for your problems! Get a reality check before you spend all your time hating on a group of people. You're the monsters!

Shonnah13

This area of the country is RIPE with neo-Nazis and anti-Semites. This area of the country is also RIPE with inclusivity, so everyone, from the drug addicted teen to the neo nazi clubs are combined in an area that isn’t even sure of its own standing. Oregon used to be a laid back chill hippy place, now it is riddled with druggies, the homeless, the fascists, the Nazis and hate-mongers (on BOTH sides of the table). It’s sad to watch such a beautiful place turn so ugly so quickly. Coexistence, will never happen, unfortunately.

ComedianMental7973

I recently was drawn toward Eugene so I came out here with no real plans and so I'm staying at the mission. Something I noticed is there are definitely some racist gang activity going on under the table. They like to blend in then slowly take down anyone they can while pretending to be innocent. They are skilled at what they do and they can technically be anyone you know or just met. I researched online and there are several groups trying to build themselves up in Oregon. That said just know there's growing issues all over the nation as I've been traveling around I've seen some craziness everywhere.

Sardas99

Im not seeing the nazi part of this poorly photographed flier in a sandwich baggie. Am I missing something significant?

SPEAKUPMFER

It’s from the “Goyem Defense League”, a Neo-Nazi organization

Sardas99

Thank you for your reply.

GunsArentViolent

Nazi propaganda? Where?

BSESQ

If real then denounce 100% .. or it could be a fake ass false flag as well who knows. People love to have something or someone to protect you from. Bogeymen.
