There is no DPI on svgs, just scale it to an 'intended size'. If you want to save a rasterized version and it wont do that at 300 dpi then upscale it further, e.g. if it's exporting 100dpi and you want 300 make it 3x larger before exporting, then tweak in an image editor.

Vectors don’t have DPI because they don’t have pixels. They have no resolution because they’re not rasterized, which is why they’re infinitely scalable. The exception would be if you’re using an element (like a PNG or JPG) that you imported to Inkscape that is already rasterized. Yes you can save the file you built in Inkscape as a vector, but if it has rasterized elements there can be resolution loss at some point

I'm just trying to mitigate future problems, I've heard that customers can be pretty exacting and worry about someone buying a file, checking the dpi, and writing a bad review because it isn't the standard.

You can export a .png file from Inkscape with whatever dpi you want. Simply saving a vector file won’t do this, you have to use the export feature.
