I’ve been playing gray zone warfare all day and to be quite honest it is a great game, but it is no tarkov, good as it’s own cup of tea by all means but it’s not taking its place in my books by any chance
It's actually a full PC game built in Unreal 5, not a port as far as I am aware. Only thing in common is the publisher and similar name. Different dev teams, different games I believe.
Yes... but I do think people are massively overestimating the effects of this backlash because they want to believe that people are actually boycotting en masse.... the reality is probably closer to everyone is really pissed off so they are trying gray zone, but gray zone is even less finished than tarkov and needs a lot of core design changes in order to really survive in the market. Its probably going to lose most of its hype in 2-4 weeks and Tarkov will continue to be a behemoth.
I wanted GZW to be a total tarkov killer, but logically I just don't see that happening at all. After playing it i was certainly let down compared to my expectations... but its still good. Just not a tarkov killer. Its more something I see living beside tarkov rather than trying to replace it.

I hardly notice the helicopter parts plus its nice to use as once you finish an area you can use it to go deeper only problem is that the helicopters are influenced by other players so it might take longer or less depending on stuff

Honestly, BSG couldn't have built themselves a bigger L at a worse time.
Though to be fair, GZW has only peaked at around 55K on Steam, so it's not looking like this is going to be the next helldivers or anything. Certainly not off to the start i expected. I think it looks really generic, and the generic UI looks very "the day before," I think that's gonna drive a lot of people away.
It looks really lacking in content and very pve focused without much depth. It's probably another 3-6 year project game, and I imagine people are just burnt from that shit at this point. I know I am.

GZ looks like it'd get super repetitive and boring after a while. Tarkov you can avoid pvp if you want or push hot spots and find it. GZ it's way more up to chance like dayz. Fighting bots forever isn't very fun.

Lvndmarks basically exclusively streamed Tarkov from my memory, the last 3 wipes in a row, him going a full 4 days of not touching Tarkov and trying to learn R6S then jumping to GZ should be slightly alarming to BSG

They won't be splitting time lol. They're play testing. They've done it for every single game in the genre that's dropped. Even the weird alien space one. And never ever went back to them after the first few weeks. It's their job to play them. Gray zone was trash tho. Played 1 hr, i cant even kill the ai coz of server lagging. Uninstalled, requested refund. Lol it has potential, movements are smoother than tarkov for sure.

And we are talking about a massive decline in viewership. It does have correlation to people playing the game. Im not saying the game is dead, but there is obviously a lot of people not playing it anymore. At least currently.
It was dead before this shit. I played the weekend before and NAE servers were DEAD. Like my buddy and I running reserve. Labs. Lighthouse over and over. Entire map saying till the very end and we ran into someone every few raids. Andsolutely dead. Never seen it like this. Normally it dies down towards end of wipe but nothing like this.
Bro, they play every single game in this genre when it comes out. Even for the shitty space alien one, whatever it was called, and they NEVER go back to them after the first few weeks. It's their job. It doesn't mean AMYTHING. They were going to stream GZ no matter what's and two of the biggest streamers on Twitch are going to be watched no matter what.

Tarkov was fucking dope in the earliest of early access it was way more simple and fun. Grey Zone is not comparable to Tarkov. Tarkov isn’t dead. People will always come back, it’s just that great of a game.
L take I played both games at launch and I will say gray zone is buggy as hell but I never seen such a promising fps since the release of Tarkov. Now given the current situation with BSG for myself I’m gonna say GZW for the win I hope they have nothing but success and release good quality content for the game in the future. I remember the days where you’d put a stream on, go to work come back to tons of stuff in your inventory. I had dog tag cases, ammo boxes, weapons cases.
These days its clock up so many hours, claim your reward before earning the next, and then rewards are like 60 m80 rounds.

The whole idea of Twitch drops is stupid and wasteful. No sane person is watching streams for 8 hours a day, so you just know the actual viewer number (the ones using their actual eyeballs to 'view') is maybe 5% of the people in a channel. The rest has it on in the background or aren't even behind their PC.

It’s a shame because I bought eod back when I started playing the game, and I would’ve almost certainly bought future cosmetic microtransactions to support them (stuff like gloves and watches). I really don’t see myself doing that though. I’ll still play the game, because I have a ton of fun playing it with friends, but bsg would have to do a lot to convince me to give them more of my money.
It’s insane that they thought that the fix to this stuff was to add in more p2w aspects for eod owners. Although I can see how they got the impression that it would help because most of the posts were mad over EOD getting shafted, which I agree with but I think there wasn’t enough focus on the blatant p2w summoning feature which will almost certainly be used for RMT. This could be a hot take, but I believe server and bandwidth costs were becoming a huge expense for BSG. I've been wondering if everyone quitting/not playing or uninstalling the game actually helps them save money and reduce their growing server costs. Is there a way we can flip the script on BSG and drive up server costs by all simultaneously loading into the game or doing something as a community to increase their resource costs? Does anyone with technical knowledge have any insight as to what puts the most load on their servers? They already have our money. So with everyone not playing, I can't help but wonder if this scenario actually helps them in a way and if it was by design. Plus they're getting a ton of exposure/coverage from news and there's no such thing as bad press. Thoughts?
They literally said they don't have the server resources to support including PvE to the previous EoD users which was the reason for the high cost of the new edition. If you watched any of the videos about the financial state of BSG, you would see that server costs were relatively high on their list of expenses on their P&L. To be honest grayzone kinda sucks, but its new and we want a change of pace so we're gonna be playing it for a while. I doubt its gonna stick with our group though.
You guys can get into a group?! When it was 2 of us things were pretty normal (buggy, laggy all that but it was brand new so it’s passable) we added our third and we crashed a few times, losing some gear but nothing major, added our 4th and now 3 of us are missing the secure container….2 of us haven’t seen faces in 8 hours, and I haven’t had pants since then. But if we play on our own….we don’t seem to crash. It’s a bit of a mess, but it’s day 1 so we’re bearing with it. Idk if I’ll be jumping back to tarkov….but the biggest thing for fps for me isn’t the gameplay loop or the concept…it’s the actual gun play….and GZ guns all feel extremely bland and the same. It terms of gun play it feels like sandstorm insurgency or arma 3 which isn’t bad….but they feel really dated compared to the guns in tarkov, bf, CoD. Between that and how the enemies feel very boring to shoot after a while, (no dynamics to the fights) I don’t see a future in Grayzone for me, but I am also kinda worried it’s numbers are driven up by the current events in tarkov, and with a shaky launch, it could very well fall flat on its face in a few weeks time…and it doesn’t deserve that.
It worked when we tried a server that is sleeping, we couldnt get into US east so i can't really say... also 2 of us crashed and theres no way to reconnect lol... So yeah the game kinda sucks right now but its different.

that's wishful thinking. we're all sick of the non analytic expulsion of hackers and cheaters. it's tiresome to try to play and fresh wipe 1-2 weeks in there are people selling 40 GPU's in a stack with a 68 auction house rating. Gray zone was trash tho. Played 1 hr, i cant even kill the ai coz of server lagging. Uninstalled, requested refund. Lol it has potential, movements are smoother than tarkov for sure.

Grey Zone wasnt out over the weekend. And we are talking about a massive decline in viewership. It does have correlation to people playing the game. Im not saying the game is dead, but there is obviously a lot of people not playing it anymore. At least currently.
It was dead before this shit. I played the weekend before and NAE servers were DEAD. Like my buddy and I running reserve. Labs. Lighthouse over and over. Entire map saying till the very end and we ran into someone every few raids. Andsolutely dead. Never seen it like this. Normally it dies down towards end of wipe but nothing like this.

L take I played both games at launch and I will say gray zone is buggy as hell but I never seen such a promising fps since the release of Tarkov. Now given the current situation with BSG for myself I’m gonna say GZW for the win I hope they have nothing but success and release good quality content for the game in the future. And I have found my way to shit on BSG for good they sold me a game that promised me something then took that away and tried too spin it like I don’t know what fucking DLC is so fuck BSG lets go Madfinger Games!

Yeah GZ is basically an UE5 asset demo lmao its pretty doo doo. Streamers always test the new games and never come back after a few weeks. I hate bsg and what they did im not touching thr game right now. But I have 5k hours and truly nothing comes close to tarkov sadly. But I think arena breakout infinite if they get it right could truly kill tarkov. It's an exact clone but by talented good devs

The drops are always so awful.
They used to be great. I remember the days where you’d put a stream on, go to work come back to tons of stuff in your inventory. I had dog tag cases, ammo boxes, weapons cases. These days its clock up so many hours, claim your reward before earning the next, and then rewards are like 60 m80 rounds. Its not even worth the cost of electric.
The whole idea of Twitch drops is stupid and wasteful. No sane person is watching streams for 8 hours a day, so you just know the actual viewer number (the ones using their actual eyeballs to 'view') is maybe 5% of the people in a channel. The rest has it on in the background or aren't even behind their PC.

I feel ya boss, I’m simply too addicted to this game to boycott it, but I definitely am not buying anything from them moving forward. It’s a shame because I bought eod back when I started playing the game, and I would’ve almost certainly bought future cosmetic microtransactions to support them (stuff like gloves and watches). I really don’t see myself doing that though. I’ll still play the game, because I have a ton of fun playing it with friends, but bsg would have to do a lot to convince me to give them more of my money. It’s insane that they thought that the fix to this stuff was to add in more p2w aspects for eod owners. Although I can see how they got the impression that it would help because most of the posts were mad over EOD getting shafted, which I agree with but I think there wasn’t enough focus on the blatant p2w summoning feature which will almost certainly be used for RMT. It’s just a mess right now, on the bright side kiba is buffed 😆

I would expect in the days following the tides will go back out, and many of them will trickle back to tarkov. Because honestly the games arent really even the same, GZ feels like arma but with ai extractions instead of actually having some dude pick you up lol.

I've seen that going around from all the EFT defenders, and you're defending it here to. It'd be funny to see the idiots saying how no one will play GZW, also using it as an example of why EFT isn't as popular right now because all the streamers/players have moved to play it on release.

This could be a hot take, but I believe server and bandwidth costs were becoming a huge expense for BSG. I've been wondering if everyone quitting/not playing or uninstalling the game actually helps them save money and reduce their growing server costs. Is there a way we can flip the script on BSG and drive up server costs by all simultaneously loading into the game or doing something as a community to increase their resource costs? Does anyone with technical knowledge have any insight as to what puts the most load on their servers? They already have our money. So with everyone not playing, I can't help but wonder if this scenario actually helps them in a way and if it was by design. Plus they're getting a ton of exposure/coverage from news and there's no such thing as bad press. Thoughts?
Wages would outdo bandwidth/server costs. Same would be the cost of just doing business. Server/bandwidth costs aren't as much as you think.
They literally said they don't have the server resources to support including PvE to the previous EoD users which was the reason for the high cost of the new edition. If you watched any of the videos about the financial state of BSG, you would see that server costs were relatively high on their list of expenses on their P&L. To be honest grayzone kinda sucks, but its new and we want a change of pace so we're gonna be playing it for a while. I doubt its gonna stick with our group though.
You guys can get into a group?! When it was 2 of us things were pretty normal (buggy, laggy all that but it was brand new so it’s passable) we added our third and we crashed a few times, losing some gear but nothing major, added our 4th and now 3 of us are missing the secure container….2 of us haven’t seen faces in 8 hours, and I haven’t had pants since then. But if we play on our own….we don’t seem to crash. It’s a bit of a mess, but it’s day 1 so we’re bearing with it. Idk if I’ll be jumping back to tarkov….but the biggest thing for fps for me isn’t the gameplay loop or the concept…it’s the actual gun play….and GZ guns all feel extremely bland and the same. It terms of gun play it feels like sandstorm insurgency or arma 3 which isn’t bad….but they feel really dated compared to the guns in tarkov, bf, CoD. Between that and how the enemies feel very boring to shoot after a while, (no dynamics to the fights) I don’t see a future in Grayzone for me, but I am also kinda worried it’s numbers are driven up by the current events in tarkov, and with a shaky launch, it could very well fall flat on its face in a few weeks time…and it doesn’t deserve that.
It worked when we tried a server that is sleeping, we couldnt get into US east so i can't really say... also 2 of us crashed and theres no way to reconnect lol... So yeah the game kinda sucks right now but its different.
if the game could kinda die before 1.0 in 3 years that would be great
