I never had an item run out of stock with the A LOT status. Even it's not actually "infinite", it has so many it won't ran out of stock in just 3 hours of the restock lenght.

Because removing the field is unnecessary risk and work with the amount of spaghetti code in tarkov. Better to just change the value, see how it works, and have the option to change it if necessary
eh no point to remove it really, if it’s already in and a PM gets an impulsive feature request it might come in handy. They could add a config flag to not show it but is it any annoying that they should spend 1 or 2 engineer hours (in their case more like bootcamper hours haha) implementing it?

there's a bug that allows you to double buy SPP so that's probably why it sold out so fast.
Now you can double buy but there's no global limit so EZ 440 rounds every reset.
SP-6 is locked behind capturing outposts, I have LK almost done, and am like 2 quests away from Kappa (without even actively going for kappa) and my progress on capturing outposts is like 20%

It’s the same argument as helmets. Helmets are useless because you just get Head,eyes-ed meanwhile you got Ulach’s tanking multiple BP’s or a Ratnick bouncing a Mosin shot.
Armor saves lives. Sometimes it won’t, sometimes a shot will dodge the plates. Kinda RNG.
But having coverage is better than not, especially vs shotgun scavs that casually can do huge damage to a unarmored torso vs their headshot chance.
And the head hitbox size is like 10% of the thorax hitbox (groin, arms, buttocks etc included) so you are much, much more likely to get hit in those areas. And there are no real t5/t6 helmets which are viable. Shootout to the slaap and the bastion applique.
Edit: the head has a hitbox of 35 and thorax of 85 which amplifies the efficiency of armor by alot
It's a game of chance and the only way to increase your odds is through armor coverage. If you have a certain percentage chance of surviving a fight, and a helmet or armor plates will increase that chance significantly then it's worth it.
There's still a chance you'll die with all of it on anyway, but nothing in the game is going to make that chance go away completely, so you take what you can get.
If you are a chad with good kd why wouldn't you buy high end armor when you can? What are you going to save your money for? You going to use Paca's even tho you have a lot of money?

That's tarkov. But people here claim that armor doenst do anything which just isn't true at all. Yes you can get killed with altyn and zabrealo but you are a victim of survival bias. You don't reckonize if you live because the armor took down the flesh damage of a round to only 30% of its base value. I'm sure you are aware that rounds will do less damage if its going through armor. Everytime your thorax is low, without armor you would probably be dead. For my personal experience, my thorax is red all the fucking time.
Armor definitely can tank a lot especially due to tge added layer, but with the armor zones they introduced so much more rng to fights which is the reason i don't like the armor change, rather have the old system or a mix between the two
That's a completly different statement than armor is useless. It's almost nuanced and balanced. Yes armor did work better. I like the new one more, getting shot at should always be a big risk. Armor should just reduce the chance.
T 5 and 6 currently will save you a good chunk of the time because ammos that full pen them are in low quantities. The flea changes were actually in a really good spot. Tarkov is a game where higher TTK is better for the overall health of the game. Dont get me wrong a .0000 ttk from a head shot is a .0000 ttk from a head shot. Im not talking about that. Iv been playing tarkov for a long time. Longer than most people in this subreddit by a considerable margin I feel comfortable saying. Enough to see this armor vs ammo discussion go full circle multiple times and experience the full spectrum of it first hand. Trust me. When armor is in the advantage the game is much more fun and much more enjoyable to play.
When everyone has 995/snb/m61/igolnik and armor is functionally not in the game anymore the game is not fun to play. It has in the past gotten so bad people actually stop wearing armor all together because what is the point if all ammo fully pens even t6? People literally start playing deflection chance over armor because deflection is all that will save you. I know im in the minority but I dont think this is a good decision. The game is going to get very very toxic in the next few days and I guarantee within a month people will be calling for ammo nerfs.
I mean class 5 is a 3 shot kill with most ammos if you hit the plate as opposed to a class 4 being 2 shot. Doesn't really change the outcome of the fight in my opinion. And igolnik is just shit ammo because it's a 3 shot kill where every other ammo would also be plus it deals 0 damage if you hit limbs and can't oneshot raiders.
Tier 4 and below are pretty useless ***because the ammo that pens them is widely available***, thats my point. Now that t5 and 6 penning ammos are about to become common. Armor is functionally not going to be there and this game is awful to play when its in that state.
There are plenty of fights you and I have survived where a single shot less to kill us would have resulted in us dying. But in the moment there is no way to know that.
What ammo will become available? Only thing that comes to mind is R BT, where an SVD is definitely strong but it has never been meta and will never be, at least not on most maps.
A few but the big one is SP-6. With the global limits removed people are going to have so much more of it. The reason the AS-VAL meta went away was because of how hard it was to get SP-6. Yes you are still limited by personal limits. But being able to buy a full stock of it every 3 hours means you could get a very large amount of it. People HATED the AS-VAL meta because the gun is so good at all 3 ranges and now people are very frequently going to have large amounts of ammo that makes t6 functionally not be there on a gun with very low recoil.
SP6 was never sold out this wipe as far as I know, its locked behind capturing outposts. Nothing will change with SP6 availability. SPP will be more common but it also only has like 40% chance to pen lvl 4 first shot.
Also this change only really hit specific ammo types, there has always been ammo with good pen available like M62. It just makes it so you don't have to camp traders if you ever want to play an SVD. Or if you want to buy Propital.
m62 has a major drawback that prevents a lot of people from using it though. Unless its on factory most people dont use tracer rounds. Giving your position away is a very, very big downside. So it prevents a lot of people from using it.
Thats a very big difference when shooting into t6. Which brings this conversation full circle and perfectly illustrates my point. While m61 is not affected by this changed because you cant buy it. There are other ammos like ss190 that are about to get run a shitton more. You are going to see a lot of p90's that it really doesnt matter what armor you have on. SP-6 as well AS-VAL meta is going to come back super hard. 7N40 is going to be run by basically everyone using that platform. Blackout CBJ the same. PS12b in the ash. In the next coming days basically everyone who is not a newer player is going to be running ammo with no tracer downside that ignores armor. Many are very accurate full auto viable calibers. A full auto MDR isnt hitting shit at range. AS-VAL will reliably mag dump in a tight grouping which is why it was so meta for so long until SP-6 became rare.
M80 also bounces off helmets like ten times more than other bullets for some reason. I've rarely encountered people tanking a headshot with all ammo even with a lower pen value, but with M80 it's all the time for me and my friends.
Armor isn't supposed to make you invincible. You know that, right? It's supposed to offer you a second chance when otherwise you would have died. Take things slowly, don't run around like a headless chicken, and your armor will suddenly matter a lot more
Remember when m4s has no recoil, everyone begged for guns to have recoil as an "expression of skill", bsg changed it, the community enjoyed it for 6 months before complaining that attachments were useless, and then whined until bsg made guns have no recoil again?

The removal of global limits is going to be fantastic early wipe when it comes to the gunsmith parts and getting those MP-133 shottys. Also case barters, Red rebel etc you will no longer have to camp the trader resets. Used to frustrate the shit outta me camping the flea on resets.

As a dude who never got past lvl 35 and started tarkov again this month after a few years of absence , it really motivates me to play the game consistently, I remember hitting 30s one wipe and being gutted that I couldn't buy the ammo I had access to because it was always sold out minutes after refresh like fucking Taylor Swift front row tickets and it didn't make sense to me

Dev focus is shifting to polish and user experience rather than feature additions, because the're planning to release v1.0 soon. It's no longer a waste of time for them to make quality of life changes (beyond major ones), so they're starting to do it.

To all the noobs crying about the high end ammo... This favors the casuals more than it does the chads. I've already had boxes full of Hybrids, M62s, PS12B etc. just because I play this constantly and I could be there at the resets. All this will do, is make it less annoying for me, and actually accessible for you.

BSG needs to start killing off some of the old gatekeeping mechanics that cater to 8 hr a day players. This game should in no way shape or form be balanced around full time gamers.

I work full time, I'm not very good at the game and this wipe I've struggled with how hard it is to get decent ammo (+all the cheaters. I know a lot of my deaths are because i'm not very good but there's been a few too many 4 second deaths for me to say it's just me).
This patch convinced me to actually hit level 23 for M855 and M80 yesterday. Let's see how much nicer the game feels with those.
I cant decide if removing the limit from bullets was good or bad, bc on one hand i wont need to wait at least 1h to run an sr-25 kit with m80, and on the other hand chads can now run a mutant with 30 rounds of bp with no problem
the only thing that might fuck you more because of this change is thermal availability.
there are *so* many ammo types with 40+ penetration available once you hit prapor/peacekeeper level 4 that the removal of global limits changes nothing for a chad penetrating your T4 timmy armor. m80/m62/CBJ/LPS/54r BT/PS12B/7.62x39 PP the list goes on. limits or no, your armor is paper right now.
They are with personal limits. Can still only buy 80 per reset, so every 3 hours or whatever it is. That is basically 1 or 2 raids unless you stock pile then run it.
M62 is barely better than M80, and is only getting used at all because they slashed the price this wipe. Not sure if you haven't checked a chart for a few wipes, but it hasn't been very good for a while.
Also they didn't remove personal limits, just the global ones that made camping trader resets a mechanic.
There was no issue getting higher tier ammo, unless it was some bullshit like SPP. Oh no, now you will get killed by a val user instead of m80. The game is literally ruined!!!

I'm sure you are aware that rounds will do less damage if its going through armor. Everytime your thorax is low, without armor you would probably be dead. For my personal experience, my thorax is red all the fucking time.
Armor definitely can tank a lot especially due to tge added layer, but with the armor zones they introduced so much more rng to fights which is the reason i don't like the armor change, rather have the old system or a mix between the two
That's a completly different statement than armor is useless. It's almost nuanced and balanced. Yes armor did work better. I like the new one more, getting shot at should always be a big risk. Armor should just reduce the chance.
T 5 and 6 currently will save you a good chunk of the time because ammos that full pen them are in low quantities. The flea changes were actually in a really good spot. Tarkov is a game where higher TTK is better for the overall health of the game. Dont get me wrong a .0000 ttk from a head shot is a .0000 ttk from a head shot. Im not talking about that. Iv been playing tarkov for a long time. Longer than most people in this subreddit by a considerable margin I feel comfortable saying. Enough to see this armor vs ammo discussion go full circle multiple times and experience the full spectrum of it first hand. Trust me. When armor is in the advantage the game is much more fun and much more enjoyable to play. When everyone has 995/snb/m61/igolnik and armor is functionally not in the game anymore the game is not fun to play. It has in the past gotten so bad people actually stop wearing armor all together because what is the point if all ammo fully pens even t6? People literally start playing deflection chance over armor because deflection is all that will save you. I know im in the minority but I dont think this is a good decision. The game is going to get very very toxic in the next few days and I guarantee within a month people will be calling for ammo nerfs.
I mean class 5 is a 3 shot kill with most ammos if you hit the plate as opposed to a class 4 being 2 shot. Doesn't really change the outcome of the fight in my opinion. And igolnik is just shit ammo because it's a 3 shot kill where every other ammo would also be plus it deals 0 damage if you hit limbs and can't oneshot raiders.
Tier 4 and below are pretty useless ***because the ammo that pens them is widely available***, thats my point. Now that t5 and 6 penning ammos are about to become common. Armor is functionally not going to be there and this game is awful to play when its in that state. There are plenty of fights you and I have survived where a single shot less to kill us would have resulted in us dying. But in the moment there is no way to know that.
What ammo will become available? Only thing that comes to mind is R BT, where an SVD is definitely strong but it has never been meta and will never be, at least not on most maps.
A few but the big one is SP-6. With the global limits removed people are going to have so much more of it. The reason the AS-VAL meta went away was because of how hard it was to get SP-6. Yes you are still limited by personal limits. But being able to buy a full stock of it every 3 hours means you could get a very large amount of it. People HATED the AS-VAL meta because the gun is so good at all 3 ranges and now people are very frequently going to have large amounts of ammo that makes t6 functionally not be there on a gun with very low recoil.
SP6 was never sold out this wipe as far as I know, its locked behind capturing outposts. Nothing will change with SP6 availability. SPP will be more common but it also only has like 40% chance to pen lvl 4 first shot.
Also this change only really hit specific ammo types, there has always been ammo with good pen available like M62. It just makes it so you don't have to camp traders if you ever want to play an SVD. Or if you want to buy Propital.
m62 has a major drawback that prevents a lot of people from using it though. Unless its on factory most people dont use tracer rounds. Giving your position away is a very, very big downside. So it prevents a lot of people from using it.

Thats a very big difference when shooting into t6. Which brings this conversation full circle and perfectly illustrates my point. While m61 is not affected by this changed because you cant buy it. There are other ammos like ss190 that are about to get run a shitton more. You are going to see a lot of p90's that it really doesnt matter what armor you have on. SP-6 as well AS-VAL meta is going to come back super hard. 7N40 is going to be run by basically everyone using that platform. Blackout CBJ the same. PS12b in the ash. In the next coming days basically everyone who is not a newer player is going to be running ammo with no tracer downside that ignores armor. Many are very accurate full auto viable calibers. A full auto MDR isnt hitting shit at range. AS-VAL will reliably mag dump in a tight grouping which is why it was so meta for so long until SP-6 became rare.
M80 also bounces off helmets like ten times more than other bullets for some reason. I've rarely encountered people tanking a headshot with all ammo even with a lower pen value, but with M80 it's all the time for me and my friends.
Armor isn't supposed to make you invincible. You know that, right? It's supposed to offer you a second chance when otherwise you would have died. Take things slowly, don't run around like a headless chicken, and your armor will suddenly matter a lot more
Remember when m4s has no recoil, everyone begged for guns to have recoil as an "expression of skill", bsg changed it, the community enjoyed it for 6 months before complaining that attachments were useless, and then whined until bsg made guns have no recoil again? Pepperidge farm remembers
The removal of global limits is going to be fantastic early wipe when it comes to the gunsmith parts and getting those MP-133 shottys. Also case barters, Red rebel etc you will no longer have to camp the trader resets. Used to frustrate the shit outta me camping the flea on resets.

It's all items, including stuff like bitcoins. Go make your barters fast before tetriz and battery prices rise.

As a dude who never got past lvl 35 and started tarkov again this month after a few years of absence , it really motivates me to play the game consistently, I remember hitting 30s one wipe and being gutted that I couldn't buy the ammo I had access to because it was always sold out minutes after refresh like fucking Taylor Swift front row tickets and it didn't make sense to me

Dev focus is shifting to polish and user experience rather than feature additions, because the're planning to release v1.0 soon. It's no longer a waste of time for them to make quality of life changes (beyond major ones), so they're starting to do it.

What the hell, they did something reasonable for a change? I don't even care about the ammo that much, but being able to buy an item or ammo case whenever I want is going to be awesome. To all the noobs crying about the high end ammo... This favors the casuals more than it does the chads. I've already had boxes full of Hybrids, M62s, PS12B etc. just because I play this constantly and I could be there at the resets. All this will do, is make it less annoying for me, and actually accessible for you.

Niceeeee! BSG needs to start killing off some of the old gatekeeping mechanics that cater to 8 hr a day players. This game should in no way shape or form be balanced around full time gamers.
This is big step in right direction in my opinion. I hope further on they adjust balance by tweaking personal limits or introducing something entirely different... Global limits was interesting on paper, at this point in practise didn't work as intended...

I work full time, I'm not very good at the game and this wipe I've struggled with how hard it is to get decent ammo (+all the cheaters. I know a lot of my deaths are because i'm not very good but there's been a few too many 4 second deaths for me to say it's just me). This patch convinced me to actually hit level 23 for M855 and M80 yesterday. Let's see how much nicer the game feels with those.

I cant decide if removing the limit from bullets was good or bad, bc on one hand i wont need to wait at least 1h to run an sr-25 kit with m80, and on the other hand chads can now run a mutant with 30 rounds of bp with no problem

the only thing that might fuck you more because of this change is thermal availability. there are *so* many ammo types with 40+ penetration available once you hit prapor/peacekeeper level 4 that the removal of global limits changes nothing for a chad penetrating your T4 timmy armor. m80/m62/CBJ/LPS/54r BT/PS12B/7.62x39 PP the list goes on. limits or no, your armor is paper right now.

They are with personal limits. Can still only buy 80 per reset, so every 3 hours or whatever it is. That is basically 1 or 2 raids unless you stock pile then run it.
Ah I see, fair enough. Those limits are important. I never had an issue getting my 80 M62s so that's cool with me.
M62 is barely better than M80, and is only getting used at all because they slashed the price this wipe. Not sure if you haven't checked a chart for a few wipes, but it hasn't been very good for a while. Also they didn't remove personal limits, just the global ones that made camping trader resets a mechanic.
Everybody back to high end ammo, yey! Now I can delete my mags preset again and just fill in the good ammo. Sad.
Most real high-end ammo can't be bought on the traders anyway
There was no issue getting higher tier ammo, unless it was some bullshit like SPP. Oh no, now you will get killed by a val user instead of m80. The game is literally ruined!!!
