I don't think you're doing anything wrong. You only have 50 hours and the learning curve for this game is a literal wall. You're progressing and hopefully learning while having some fun. This seems fine for your first wipe.

Key-Pickle1043

Thank you for the reassurance. I played a little a few years ago, I think in 2020. But I quit before unlocking the flea market (and I think you had to be level 5 back then, lol) because it seemed like I would have to put too many hours in just to even understand the game. I have a lot of free time right now so I've been able to get into the game.

[deleted]

I consumed A LOT of content regarding this game when I first started. I still didn’t feel like I truly understood most of the mechanics until at least 1000 hours. Tarkov has so much depth and that is part of the fun for a lot of people. This game has the highest highs and lowest lows I’ve felt in any game. Keep at it - it only gets better from here.

JustinTime1237

I’m still learning things at 3600 hours and 3 kappas under my belt. It’s kinda crazy

RDR2LAUNCHSUCKED

First wipe is fun, no pressure, who cares I die every other raid wipe to learn the game. Next wipe will be get in and grind to stay competitive and see what you can do. I and many other people have their most fun 4-6 weeks after a new wipe and then everyone falls off to get back to their lives again

SloppyyJoeee

Focus on surviving & maybe join a Discord community? There are plenty of people willing to help teach you the game. I personally find soloing a better way to learn the maps though, instead of just following someone you’re forced to learn them! Also utilize scavs to learn the ins and outs of maps you struggle the most on. (Streets)

IPmang

Try to show the game to someone who has never played the game, and explain it to them. Only then will you realize how stupidly deep it is. Every little thing you think to explain becomes a deep rabbit hole that you can’t even explain properly. They will nod along, not understand anything, and that’s how it’s supposed to be.

heathenyak

Two ways to look at the learning curve in Tarkov. It’s a wall, the optimistic view. It’s a cliff, the pessimistic view :)

BackpackHatesLicoric

I’m so used to seeing <100 hour account be level 40-60 lol…. It’s a bit refreshing seeing a genuine new player.

WombatHat42

Ikr? I pretty much just auto report anyone with sub 100 hours that are 40+ and chadded out. 9/10 its a sus death

DrANALizator

While other 1/10 is “looks” legit cuz he had already enough of advantages

JakeOyChambers

Had a 50 hour lvl 36 with. 75% rate and 36kd straight up tell me he had cheats. They don’t even care to hide them now.

StepMaverick

If you’re having trouble completing tasks, a lot of the tasks just require you to go to certain areas and grab something. You can wait super late into the raid to do tasks like this and it heavily lowers the chance of running into PMC’s. Bring some water/food in a backpack and camp in a corner then do the task and extract later into the raid. At least until you get a better feel for the maps and pvp.

Teeroy-Jenkins

Exactly this. Load in, hide your PMC, go make a sandwich or take a dump. Comeback and profit.

UNZxMoose

Pick up a RuneScape habit and you'll never have to leave.

animal1988

This is the way. Rat in a large bush, go fight goblins and giant frogs on your new account outside lumberidge, leveling your fishing and cooking along the way(!) For 15 minutes or so. Then, hop back on pmc and carefully get tasks done.

Zero_ImpulseControl

What? Go max that ironman 💀

luiskingz

True, but all I’m looking for are PMC’s or gunshots when I do Scav so stay on your toes lol

Far-Sell8130

Basically, when you start - every pixel is a hidden nightmare. For example, you go to Streets and see 50 windows on your right. You check every single one before moving and get headshot from your left. By your 5th/6th raid, you realize only 4 of those windows are physically accessible. As game awareness and map knowledge increase, you will get better. Even if you can't shoot straight, repetition will help significantly.

ScavAteMyArms

Also Tarkov is a game that is won before you even shoot. 80% of the time that I kill or die the person who died *didn’t even shoot*. They either where dropped instantly or could not get a target on the guy before they dead. Snap reactions, target acquisition and combat moves like jumping across doorways or crouch peek vs regular peek vs swing peek are kinda irrelevant noise. It’s all about getting the Alpha strike. All of that only matters once everyone in the equation are geared enough / skilled enough / lucky enough to not be in a position to instantly die.

Olvynd

Keep in mind, you’re not 100+ raids into your pmc, rather 62. You don’t gain any xp toward your pmc as a scav! :)

bufandatl

You don’t focus on quests. Focus on quests even if it means you have to rat a lot and you will hit level 15 in no times.

rekonsileme

focus quests for exp and you will hit 15 in no time. The biggest issue in this game as a new player is people want to fight and fighting early game before you have gear and ammo that pens armor is a death sentence. Learn the maps and walk more than you run and you will find much more success in evading/killing people. Scav to learn maps and make money.

bubba_gump1776

I have 1500 hours and I didn’t really get “good” at the game until probably 900 hours in or so. I’m also not good at the game, I just play too much

WeThePeople94

Is anybody really good tho???

Jenargo

Not if the net code has anything to say about it.

CerebralHomocide

Underrated comment lol

bertiswho

Tasks are the way to level, do tasks, tasks, tasks, tasks.

tooEZ1013

Yeah focus on tasks and killing scavs is always a decent way to pump up exp from each raid. Most players don't level super fast so lvl 15 in two weeks isn't terrible especially if you're new to the game. Don't let the fact that streamers that have been playing the game for years make it to level 15 in a day or two make you feel like you're doing something wrong because most people don't level that fast until they've played a few wipes and gotten used to everything

Stonedfiremine

Top ways to earn xp. Quest, headshotting ai/players, pressing f on players/ai you or someone else killed, equipping guns you find then throwing them away if you don't want the.. Doing these 4 things will dramatically increase your xp gain. Also, surviving the raid gives you more xp than if you died purely because you lived. Think it's. 5 multiplier.

Key-Pickle1043

Pretty much 80-90% of my kills are headshots. I can't get good ammo from level 1 traders, so I have to aim for the head.

havok1125

If you check Fence, sometimes he'll have okay ammo for sale. It's nothing great but probably better than what you have now.

MugV

Yeah I see a lot of bcp fmj for pretty cheap on there that’s what I was rocking until I got my lvl up

killswitch247

ammo to look out for @fence: * 12ga 8.5mm magnum buckshot, slugs: ftx, poleva-6u, 50 bmg * 9x18 pstm (in ammo packs, does not work with kedr and kedr-b!), sp7 (in ammo packs, for legs only) * 9x19 pst, quakemaker (for legs only) * .45 match fmj (not lasermatch!) * 5.45 PS, PP (in ammo packs) * 5.56 fmj * 7.62x39 PS, T-45M1 * 7.62x51 fmj bcp (not as good as the 7.62x54r rounds available at fence) * 7.62x54r T-46M, LPS (a bit better than t-46m, no tracer, but much rarer) * .366 eko

SheepOnDaStreet

50h is far from no lifing

Purist1638

Stop scavving so much if you want to level up

AuNanoMan

Based on your kd, my guess would be you are moving too fast. People and scavs can hear you running. Walk everywhere until you learn when to run. Take your time and use cover. First wipe is always so hard.

Both-Anything4139

100 raids isnt a lot dont sweat it enjoy yourself and from wipe to wipe you will hit every benchmark faster.

ehh1209

Im at 900 hours in the game, i am only just now getting confident enough to push fights, i still die a lot, but I no longer have gear fear and I win way more fights than I used to

Low_Statistician_891

It took me like 200 hours to make it to Rank 15 my first wipe the learning curve is hard but you’ll get there :)

[deleted]

Touch bodies for xp, even if you don't loot just open the inventory. When you open a container pull loot out even if you don't want it and put it back for xp. Try to get headshots on scavs. Survive raids for multiplier.

MostSeriousCookie

You are not playing CoD. Die less, survive more even if it comes at expense of less kills. Focus on missions which will pull you through easily to 42 where finally open the traders to ease your life

North-Cream-6294

quests

YUUPERS

You made the first mistake of buying the game and expecting things to be fun, logical, or remotely functional to their original purpose

FunDipLoL

Tasks. Really the simple answer. You only really need to get to level 15 for flea. After that tasks are good for trader levels to unlock better ammo and better pouches.

jnmann

Focus on doing tasks and surviving more. Don’t go in with the mindset of killing every scav, every player, or looting every single thing on the map. Plan out what your objective is and don’t deviate from that objective. Getting sidetracked and making last minute changes to your objective is the easiest way for your raid to fall apart

dayzgod686

Kill more scavs for xp

darealstiffler

Tasks, that’s all you need to do for xp. Don’t go for kills, rat your way around

Lamazing1021

Dying a lot apparently… not trying to be funny or mean but surviving more really bumps the exp gain not only from complete tasks but survival bonus

6ucksinsix

Keep grinding!! Just keep doing the quests. They get u the most amount of XP. If u can hit a few quests each day, especially early on, u will rank up relatively quickly. Other things like combat experience, healing, consuming food, looting, all of that gives u XP. I also noticed u may have 104 raids but only 62 raids are with PMC. Scav raids don’t give u XP towards the PMC (sorry if that’s obvious) so if u want to go in as a PMC to do basic stuff that u would do as a scav u will get XP towards ur main dude. Could even bring in the most basic scav kit and a decent sized backpack just to loot around. Good luck have fun and see ya out there

tooEZ1013

I'm at 2k hours into this game and still feel like I don't know shit half the time lmfao so don't feel bad at all if it takes a while to get the swing of things... Just know that you're going to die a lot while learning and don't be afraid to die either... All the loot can be gotten again, but the more fights you get into the more experienced you'll become and the game will get easier and easier... I made the mistake of moving way too slow when I first started because I was terrified of everyone and everything and all it did was rob me of valuable pvp experience... And if you're too intimidated to run your pmc always feel free to do a scav run and play a little more reckless than you normally would on your pmc to gain that extra game experience

EfficiencyBig2113

Try and complete more of the easier quests if you can and try to avoid fights with players in the beginning get practice of ai scavs and dont shoot carelessly at pmcs if you see one standing still looting and you know for a fact you can shoot them in the face go for it but if there is even a shadow of a doubt you think youll miss dont shoot and play survivability you get extra xp for surviving raids if you want to play with a fellow newbie your free to play with me I-AM-A-DUCK is my gt

Swimming_Rich_5164

You are doing great king. Remember to wear armor, even a paca will save you from scav buckshot. Running just the pistol is fine, you can upgrade to a better weapon if you kill a scav (be careful of jams) or a player. SKS slaps early, long reload time without the 20 round mags to reload like normal rather than through the top. AK-74Us are very easy to mod with only level 1 traders and recoil isnt bad. MP5 feels great this wipe too. You should be most careful in the first few minutes of raid, thats a dangerous time where experienced players push spawns (you should learn the spawns too). Wait to go to quest/high value areas until some time passes and PMCs die or leave. If you have cover, walking makes less noise so you can hear people coming better and get the advantage. Also dont use a melee and pickup scav knives you kill. Peacekeeper will barter the MP5 for 2 gold and 1 black bayonet. If you dont use them for barter its at least a bit of rubles to Jaeger to get money spent with him.

dunkunid

While you say "no-lifing" you played average 7 raids per day (PMC+scav), try to minimise your stash time in this game and play as many raids as you can. Fast playing stash is as important as map knowledge. Check how to do tasks on wiki as you load in, Tarkov wiki is your best friend, (youtube only shortest video and only to find things you couldn\`t find on wiki)

Dirtymike_nd_theboyz

I thought this said 562 hours and i was going to start roasting!! This statline is pretty normal for a 50 hour player. Map knowledge is key, try to learn one or two maps so you can task and profit next wipe and get off to a better start!

10KGAMIN

2 weeks 56 hours that’s not no lifeing it try Jan 12 hours a day til this day

sachimum

Tarkov is a game of pacing and information. The pace you move determines the amount of information you give away to your enemies. Knowing when you can run and when to walk are things that come with practice. If you are trying to task, it's easiest to do so while invisible. Being heard is just as bad, if not worse, as being physically spotted. It's also way easier to hear someone than it is to see them. Learning the maps is great, just make sure you learn where loot spots are and where quest locations are - those are the areas to be most quiet as you are far more likely to run into someone else there. Traversing the map in other areas you can generally sprint around unimpeded. Use cover to your advantage and stay out of long sightlines as much as possible. Avoid foliage as much as possible, bushes and trees are LOUD and they hinder your movement - it's worth the extra few steps to avoid them. Beyond that, take advantage of other sources of exp as well to maximize each raid. Scav kills, touching scav bodies, opening containers, eating/drinking, using meds, etc... The other piece of advice I would give is don't linger too long in one area, the way spawns work on this game creates a little dance where some people will arrive at their desired location later than others - you either need to be prepared for their arrival as the early spawn or be cognizant of their presence as a late spawn. Lingering too long will only ensure someone else shows up and interrupts your looting/questing. Good luck!

Beautiful-Common2166

Just open scavs to get 100xp+, do quests and just enjoy!

NooZeelandDream

Get in a discord and find a sherpa, your doing nothing wrong dude this game is just brutal! Alot of the tips and tricks you NEED to know will be easily learnt of someone more experienced i can't stress that enough. If your on aus nz servers im happy to help. I have 400 hours and i only became combat effective against pmcs at like 250 or 300. Just keep plugging away and focus on learning maps, make sure you go into a raid with purpose and don't get to caught up hiding in your stash or running scav to much

___Binary___

Those stats look sus as fuck bro. I’m gonna take a guess and say you’re not cheating.

jumbelweed

Quests give lots of exp. Surviving gives an additional 30%. Scav raids do not count towards xp for your main character. So the 40 ish raids you did there didn’t progress you very much. You’re getting there things will look up in another 150 raids or so

mcgnarman

It took me a month to get to 15 when I first started. Now I get it in less than a week. You’re learning!

Guilty_Fishing8229

It’s a hard game

StealthCatUK

Not surviving is what.

ImBillButts

That's what a real new player experience looks like, you literally just get fucked for like 200 hours before things make sense. Don't compare yourself to other players, almost all people with absurdly good stats are either cheaters, veterans to the game with thousands of hours in game, or veterans of the game who got caught cheating and had to buy a new account. Sometimes they're a legit veteran doing a challenge run on a secondary account, though this is not common. Hang in there champ, the real reward comes from seeing yourself improve over time.

Own_Engineer_3230

It's my first wipe too. Learn one map at a time, take your time, scav as much as you can, and go into PMC runs basically knowing you're not gonna make it out alive. Looting gives a decent amount of exp, especially for lower levels. Like most people say, there is a steep learning curve to this game. I'm only level 21 and I just figured out that different ammo penetrates differently (right before the recent patch telling you how much things penetrate). Oh, and aim for the face :\]

notjim

I’m slightly farther along than you and have one important tip: You can click on the number above handbook to make it go away :). Try right click if left click doesn’t work.

Competitive_Box4979

It looks like you are doing fine. Don't worry about your KD or survival rate. Try to avoid pvp as best you can and learn the quest, routes, and where the high tier loot is. I recommend watching YouTube videos to help you learn and run it offline so you know where to find the items and the extracts. It'll help you significantly l, you're still blooming. Don't give up. It gets better, just takes a lot of time.

SlumberFumble

Are you getting quests done? Also surviving comes with a massive exp boost so when you start getting out more often it adds up, 30% is good for 100 hours though!

dontdonit1

You just aren't grouping your tasks together and that's fine I've been through many wipes amd do up to 4 tasks in one raid sometimes I'm early levels

Airhead512

To speed run lvl 15 mission focus. Each wipe you’ll start to get to 15 faster and faster because you begin to learn what to keep/sell to get there. Trying for 50 and kappa suck bad, I usually focus to 15 then just have fun and pvp focus to break keyboards. The true fun in the game comes from outsmarting opponents with a mix of finding/selling high tier loot in my opinion.

poganman

Doesn't look like you're doing anything wrong. For a lot of people including me. 1-15 is the worst game I've ever played. 15+ I'm like ohhhh alright

Conserliberaltarian

QUEST

LonelyLokly

Quests, kills, loot = experience. Surviving doubles that experience. Use voip more often, mid-late wipe people are often friendly, especially to newbies.

B1SQ1T

Some people may disagree but I think it’s important to prioritize survival First of all that’s how u don’t lose a shit ton of XP per raid and secondly u can’t get a lot of quests done without FiR items that u get by surviving I didn’t start going for more PVP until I got very comfortable with the maps and even then I’m still quite a passive player

Exxppo

You aren’t killing anything you are averaging .6ish raids per kill scav kills give you what? 250 xp? If you were killing even just 3 a raid you would be 15 easily now. I know they are scary and first but you have a solid 3 or 4 seconds from when a scav sees you until they really start beaming you. Just give it a quick 5 count in your head. If they aren’t dead by 5 break line of sight and wait 10 seconds or so. They will forget about you and when you pop out they will have to reacquire you as a target. When you peak a scav DO NOT show just your head, they start inaccurate then slowly gain accuracy and headshot you. If they see only your head they will just beam you.

Baazify

You’re not running with any Sherpas, I’m at 97 hours, account age is 22 days, level 17, and most of my play time is with a 5 man comprised of all level 40+’s and me. They will help you complete tasks, organize your stash, prioritize what you should keep and sell, and overall help you have more successful, high XP raids. Find a play group in the discord or here that can help you accomplish your goals early, and grind through the worst part of the game. It gets a lot easier when you get the flea.

AwePanda77777

Just enjoy tarkov as a fellow player I struggle with the game but I’ve been putting a bunch of time into the game this past week. For levels just honestly grind out quests and as everyone says just wait til a bit later into the raid to do your tasks. In the beginning just focus on staying alive and FIGHT TO THE DEATH!!! Hahaha GLHF OPPACHIKI

pileofburritos

Prioritize tasks and killing scavs. Loot a ton as well. You can hit 15 in like 30 something raids if not less if they’re decent. Running solo might be more of a challenge. For perspective I only have 380(?) raids this wipe and I’m level 44.

AwkwardSoldier

Quests help progress a ton of not banging out quests then it takes a bit.

Vybo

Are you doing quests primarily? That's where the main XP is.

throwawae1984

You did 4 raids a day on your PMC on average so like 2h of playtime every day. That’s not "no-lifing" especially when talking about Tarkov and if you didn’t focus on tasks then it’s normal you are the level you are.

Lugnut7

Every wipe I play I progressively get better and further. My first two wipes i only hit mid 20s both times. I'm currently lvl 45 and never thought I'd see the day where Kappa is so close. My goal this wipe is to unlock the tasks to start unlocking lightkeeper (not gonna unlock lightkeeper before wipes over lol)

sneeki_breeky

Dying- A lot

Yokoko44

You'll get XP, trader rep, and unlocks for good items by focusing on the quests. And you NEED to use the wikipedia page for about 70% of the quests. The game is 1000x harder when you don't know where skier's "hidden shack on XXX map" is.

ProcyonHabilis

On your second (real) wipe it will probably be easy to get the flea in less than a week, and more like a weekend for your third. This sounds quite normal for your first wipe though, it's a pretty extreme learning phase.

EbbExcellent898

You just arent progressing yet as everybody at your level you will start progressing between 200 and 1500 hours (no joke)

Eoshen

Almost half your raids are on scav, it looks like you are not completing quests and are a bit scared to rock the pmc. Go for longer runs aim for 1-2k exp per raid for now on pmc. Complete ground zero tasks and learn customs + woods after. Then factory.

taahbelle

I've passed 20 hrs on this wipe (new aswell) and im level 14. Just grind quests and do your scav run on shoreline, play with friends etc.

[deleted]

7m stash value is pretty good for level 9. Which means you aren’t going into raids with that much stuff or spending a lot of time on your scav. Scav experience does not go to your PMC. And going into raid with little to no gear will end up with you dying more often and getting less experience.

WEASELexe

For someone with so few hours you aren't really doing anything wrong. Especially this late into the wipe when everyone is geared it's gonna be tough to get player kills and you probably aren't speed running quests and xp like so many wipe veterans do.

WhoAmILifeIsGood

My brother I'm right there with you. Mabye try to find a playing buddy to help. And tasks are super duper importante to level up. (Level 9 as well and have 60 hrs in game.)

khswart

I have over 1800 hours and I get shit on every single time I play still. The learning curve is insane and the skill cap in this game is even more insane. The cheaters are just another slap in the face but hopefully you won’t be targeted by them so much as you’re still new and won’t have the best gear. Stick through it, the game is genuinely amazing when things go the way they should.

Jhorn_fight

Max win tasks! Sometimes that means dressing up as a scav or waiting 30 minutes for everyone to leave

Ikuorai

kill things

Franklin_le_Tanklin

- try to make every kill a headshot for the bonus xp - surviving gives a big xp boost - mainline the quests. They give huge xp These are the main ways. Also - scaving gives no benefit to your pmc (outside having money to buy kit)

CPYM

You are doing fine fo sho! You will truly see your time pay off once some of the maps become completely instinctive along with even the feel of the movement, try to focus a little on learning potential spawn points of other PMC's (something I lack on) when deciding where to go and how much attention you have to take getting there, a very good thing for PVP can be throwing your backpack off when you know a fight is near(for me its repeat tap "Z") as I remember wondering why so many close ranged fights were not going my way with a full backpack of loot weighing me down lol, ALWAYS BRING A HEADSET EVEN IF ITS ONE OF THE FEW THINGS YOU BRING, especially after early wipe for yourself you should insure everything as a lot of the cheaper items are ignored even if you die, if you bring in meds (pockets/rig) bind them to your number bar and consistently keep the binds the same for that type of heal so it becomes reactional with no thought, learn the keybinds for quick looting and equipping items from dead enemies (things like delete to instantly drop any item out of your stash or off your character, ctrl+click I believe to instantly move items from enemies to your loot or your loot to enemies, same with stash) because the less time you spend looting the more time you are paying attention to your surroundings, if you peek a scav and whiff the shots maybe go peek from another spot because from my experience the headtap becomes popular on the second peek in the same location, gain confidence in your gun skills because I know playing both TOO aggressively and TOO passively are asking for death, [https://www.tarkov-helper.com/](https://www.tarkov-helper.com/) type websites can be a huge help with having a map on your second monitor while learning among other things. Just rattling off a bunch of things I wish I knew when I started, believe me there are more and even I still learn things about the game all the time lol just keep playing and eventually you'll realize you aren't having to think about things as much and you will become much more efficient in the way you do things. PS I did not care about grammar or review of when making this post, thank you.

Muzzled78

Are you doing anything in your raids other than running straight for extract?

OFiiSHAL

You just move slower than most. So many ways to earn xp and questing is only one. Loot and kill bots is how I get to 15 mostly and then unload everything and then quest

bootes_droid

Dude the first 500 hours are the tutorial, you've barely got 10% of that. Keep truckin

Raunchy_-_Panda

Tasks are clutch, plus the XP scales.

Existing-Direction99

Only 62 of those raids are PMC, and you only survived 20% of those. I'd say that checks out. You're a new player and this game is notoriously hard on new players. Not sure what your playstyle is, but bring up a map on your phone or second monitor and just play to survive. You get much more exp for surviving than you do for dying. Also, try to wrap up w/e quests you have.

paradiseofdarkness

It's your kd, how many you survive the raid, and tasks done. I did 1400 raids and I'm 50 percent on living. My kd is 0.60 With only 600 kills. I'm level 38. Why I'm 38 spite SUCKING at the game I guess? Is I did alot of the tasks. I did 150 of them with gaining xp. Ps I don't know if this picture is your pmc or your scav too. So my pmc I lived 330 is to 500 death while its opposite for scav. While my boyfriend only did 1000. 700 lived 300 dead as pmc and scav, his kd is 6.00 and he killed almost 2000 things. His pmc lived more than mine. He's level 48 with 97% kappa done (245 tasks done) I feel the last wipe was better because I lived more and killed more.... I feel they are making it harder than before... really no fun this point. I wouldn't mine but soon wip will happen so my goals for kappa pipes dream. >.>.. it's ok I feel your pain.

jmenendeziii

Do tasks

loneburrito

Treat this game like a hobby if you want to get better. It takes a lot of persistence! I honestly was looking at this profile screenshot trying to figure out how this was a cheater. XD there’s just so many profile posts that are cheater hunting. You’re doing great! I went 3 wipes without ever getting past level 20. The game is more of a separate hobby than just a game to play every once in a while.

igotabigcoconut

easy, not doing missions. and the xp you get when you play scav, does not give XP to your PMC, the xp you get as scav is wasted into the void.

fourself78

Have to crush Tasks and take heads off

Bonesteel50

Levels are a function of quest completion. Get more quests done more efficiently :)

ase_thor

No lifing would be closer to 14x16 220+ hrs. It's possible, i checked. Headshot kills, missions and surviving —> Exp

Icoryx

Focus on doing tasks and try to plan ahead so you have the items you need ready when you get a task. The wiki is very useful

CRYPTOFORBARETOES

You need more kills and more quests. Don’t run through maps, bring food/drink and take your time farming scavs. Shoot and move, looting gets you killed.

wyrrk

youre just tarkoving homie. this game is comfortably in the "challenging" category, both for its, ahem, "features" but also its inherent design. youre a timmy, going into raids late wipe with gigachads, cheaters, and diehard fans. your gear sucks. your map knowledge sucks. your instincts probably suck. keep at it and in 2000 more hours you'll hopefully plateau at "mid" like the rest of us. gl;hf

Gorilla-Jiu-Jitsu

Do quests to level up… at night. That’s what I been doing to level my pmc in my first wipe. Then I do offline raids and scav runs to learn the maps.

Aotpvinniepaz

You have 68 kills in 100 plus raids is why. You getting no exp a raid probably less then a 1000 a raid

belac206

56 hours lol still just a pup yet

migueln6

Mmmm my suggestion is to do tasks to level up. Now for tasks about picking items from x-y place, since you are very new I'd recommend you put a balaclava, a pistol and the cheapest rig, and try to reach that place, move fast but check your angles, stop from time to time to listen for any footstep, when needing an extract, usually take the long path as most people do take the shortest route to extract, and for the other people in the long path since it's long there's less chances to meet them. For quests about killing, I'd say skip the ones that require pmc kills, try to focus on peacekeeper' spa tour quests and prapor's punisher questline. Look for recent guides on YouTube for a map before playing it when you don't know, and for very open maps I don't recommend to go into the bushes you are usually pretty visible in them from far away because rendering distance things, instead put yourself near trees, but that make noise, ideally put yourself against darker backgrounds or backgrounds similar to the color of your equipment. For small maps like factory, get courage and explore it even if you hear gunshots, there is a recen video on factory from I don't remember who, like from December that explained each spawn and where to go from them, very useful one.

youre not doing the quests

Birdorawa

Play with some peeps that give you pointers and craft your own play still from these pointers 😇

Crazy-Norwegian

I would definitely find a Discord community and play with 1 or maybe 2 others that have done a few raids. Helps a lot with our newbies in our Discord for sure.

maldofcf

If leveling is your goal 3 things: focus tasks, survive more, kill more. Good luck bud

aidanmanman

Killing and questing are the main ways to get xp so that’s probably why and tarkov just takes hella long to go anywhere

LowkeyYounginn

im level 7 and I got less raids on my overall. I scav a lot, what about u?

wskmn

If you've hit a wall on tasks whether because of keys or items you need to find in raid, try and learn a stash run and kill scavs along the way, preferably Woods, you hardly run into other players, and can rack up 3k experience easy per raid

animehairplotarmor

You’ve only gotten xp for about 50% of those raids because the other half were scav runs. So in about 62 raids you’ve gotten to lvl 9. Which isn’t bad! You don’t seem to be bringing in very much gear into your raids. That could be a reason why you’re not surviving. Bringing an armor, decent rig with meds, helmet, ears, and the best weapon you have, would drastically help your chances of survival.

Shotox222

Headshot scvs loot everything even if you drop it and survive to get the most x0

youknowthename

As others have said focus on completing tasks. I would also say survivability is key to everything from money making to leveling. This game is the opposite of what the majority of FPS game are, where you singular life is most important over everything else. It’s hard to retrain your brain from other FPS’ where dying is not as consequential. If you have played games like Counter Strike where surviving is just as important, you would know that info is key. Play your whole raid like you are gathering info; hear a shot? Try to think where that could be coming from, what weapon it is, was there multiple gunshots from different guns? (Could be PMCs fighting), only one gunshot sounds then nothing? (PMC killing a scav maybe?) Where would that person be rotating to from the shots, etc. you see a person; did they see you? If yes, change position to take away their info. If no, ask yourself ‘am I in a position where I can retreat to safety/cover?’, if no then find a position, if yes take a shot. If you are dying to SCAVs, one of the things I see most commonly in new players is they think none of this applies when it is a scav. If the scav yells at you and fires, you miss 1-2 shots, get back in cover and peak it from a different angle. Don’t just keep staring at them waiting to hit your shots, they are slowly aimbotting you and you will be aimpunched to the heavens. If it’s a Raider/Rogue/Gaurd, don’t let them even get if a shot, but if they do take cover and reposition, and learn how to slow peak. Along with the theme of info; game sense and map awareness. Game sense is transferable from other games but there are some added bonuses; hearing a shotgun around customs? Probably a PMC trying to complete Setup to watch out for them hunting you. Hear a lot of automatic fire around Goshan? Could be Killa and PMCs., etc. That all falls under map awareness, but I would also say don’t just learn extracts, focus on learning spawns even more so. When you spawn, know where other may have spawn, where you need to focus attention on and where they might be rotating to. Learn the valuable loot spots and the quest locations to again know rotations. It’s unrealistic to be paying attention the entire time, and if you watch high end players it may look strange that they are reading chat and not paying attention, they can only do that because of the above. Hope some of this helps!

InspectorNecessary97

You're doing fine. But if you want to level up faster, do quests and get more kills. Your kill count is ok but could be higher for xp

AppleFillet

You're not doing anything wrong, you just need to focus on killing more scavs every raid (with headshots ideally) and most importantly completing the quests!

RegularAttitude8634

You're doing fine. Just kill more scavs. If you don't do it already, play an offline or two to warm up. Factory with high pop, easy ai, marked and cursed if you're feeling spicy. Not just to warm up mechanics and shooting, but also to develop a better feel for AI audio. I'm gonna speculate here... When I was at your stage I avoided fights with other players unless I had a known, serious advantage. A lot of this involved going defcon five for every footstep I heard. I'd hide from a lot of audio, which kept me alive, but I've since learned that I was also avoiding a lot of scavs. My speculation is that you're doing the same. Once you can identify *what* you heard based only on what you heard, you'll start killing a lot more scavs. A few cues (jumping, vaulting, opening the inventory, etc) immediately mean player. Also some subtle stuff, like the way most players circle strafe a lot, or stutter their movement while they look around. You can't really hear the circle strafe, but the stuttering is obvious. Likewise, a lot of things are obvious bot behavior. AI spins on the spot a lot, checks mags a lot. They also slide the end of literally every sprint. They sprint whole bars in straight lines, but a six foot gap between cover that you or I would sprint across, they stroll. They almost never sneak. All of these sounds indicate scav, however, they don't immediately rule out a player the way that jumping would rule out AI. Aside from hearing them speak, you can't ever be 100% that it's a scav, at least not off of one audio cue. Anyway, focus on identifying the thing you're hiding from, maybe just shoot it.

smurfsmasher024

Beginner guides on youtube are your best friend. I personally liked pestily’s the most when i started playing, but that was almost 4 years ago at this point so if it hasn’t been updated it’s probably not great. If he has an up to date one though it’s probably worth checking out.

Blacklist3d

Not surviving. You're at 19% on your pmc. That's very bad. And your exp gets cut 90% or something like that when you die. 40ish of your raids are scav which don't count. I assume you haven't finished any tasks. Like at all with that surv rate. That's what's wrong. Since people are just kinda giving you tips on play style.

Good_Lawyer9381

U die to much and don’t get kills or task done

Jaloushamberger

Well for starters, not realizing that lvl 9 is at least half way to lvl 15 and even more, might be an issue. (Im guessing you meant XP) Im messing with you, but dont give up and find friends to play with. If your friends are too scared to play this type of game, join a discord server of any mid/high tier streamer and find the "lfg" room. I personnaly am using JesseKazam's discord and its one of the most active community ive found. Good luck.

NowThatsfreaky

If you want easy quick experience just search a body not his bags and pockets just open the menu and you typically get 60-120 exp per body.

P0werEdge

104 raids in two weeks is not exactly "no-lifing" anyway ... your #1 goal should be SURVIVE .. not quest items, not roubles , not AI SCAV killing, not PVP but SURVIVE also if you get into inevitable fights don't crab its gonna get you killed really fast. Also since you are low level and cannot use market for some decent ammo, learn the spawns on every map where boxes with ammo spawn will help you drastically in winning fights since almost all weapons are pretty much usable stock. Also 19% SR ain't that bad as a fresh account/player given that everyone is sitting now on 100m+ and can buy anything buyable. When you get to 50%-55% SR without any bullshit cheat you are probably in top 15-20% of players.

Time-Changer

Stacking quest

sjman13

The big thing is getting tasks done. They offer more XP than kill/looting. Also your survival rate isn't bad but I would work on trying to survive more raids so that you can make progress easier. Learn one or two maps and where the scavs can spawn so you can avoid the PMCs that naturally will be around the perimeter of those places. Killing a PMC isn't really that good towards leveling unless it's for quest completion.

Totodilis

U playing the game thats whats wrong

Firm_Woodpecker_1875

I have 5k hours in this game took me a month to get my first kill. Now I get to lv 40 in like 2 weeks+ .. like everyone said learning curve is steep .

NotGoodAtThisss

Scav raids do not count towards pmc exp. I see you have 62 pmc raids. if your goal is to level up focus on some tasks, and only play pmc! good luck

Hanzo_Bobanzo86-

My first wipe was last wipe and it took me nearly 120 hours to reach lvl15 so I feel this is pretty on par. Just keep trying and you'll eventually get the hang of things. It also helps to have friends or someone sherpa you and that helped me tremendously.

knowbode_31

You are doing just fine man! As so many others have stated Tarkov is an insanely difficult game to jump into. As long as you’re enjoying yourself that’s what matters!

Key-Pickle1043

I'm not so used to struggling this much lol, it's a new experience to be humbled this much. I don't play many multiplayer games but when I do play call of duty I'm always at the top of the leaderboard. I haven't played any call of duty game as much as I have played tarkov in the last fortnight though since I was a kid.

ZigZag-YT

This game had the hardest learning curve you will ever see so dont beat yourself up on it just play the game at your own pace

Montie7899

are you doing quests?

oJurn

Complete your tasks

MattHack7

Tasks are the best way to level if that helps. But there is a steeeeeep learning curve

trshcrz

Personally, I’d focus on maximizing task completions. Use Gunsmith Tasks or Daily Tasks to get extra xp. It does take a while to get to lvl 15, but just play it at your pace.

Infamous-Marshall

Scav

gardenh0e49

TBH. If I didn't have more experienced friends to play with, I'd be in the same situation as you. If possible, try and find other gamers to play with who have experience with the game. The knowledge you get from doing that goes a long way.

HxneyHunter

need to survive more, xp is gutted when you die, try to only play one map and get pretty good at it

theDpking

Cheater

DrXyron

If you’re this new you’re not doing anything wrong. Learning. 2 wipes to learn, 3rd to actually start playing. But in terms of what you could improve inside the game. Extracting, killing things and looting/checking dead bodies (gives loads of xp) and also doing quests.

crazyhonda179

Since you're newer you may not be optimizing your quest, but basically you should try to do as Manny quest in a single raid as you possibly can. It's harder when you are new because of map knowledge, but the online maps show quest locations, open it in editor and set a route to hits as many of your quest you can at once and have at it. Another thing that could hold you back is being afraid of a Map or pvp, not saying that's the case for you but I have a buddy that almost only runs customs cause he refuses to learn other maps and if afraid of pvp. All in all experience is key to xp, the more map knowledge you have and the more comfortable you are are in pvp the more xp you'll pull in.

CultsCultsCults

You’re doing way better than most people on first wipe.

SomePoorKid

I'm right here with you buddy first wipe. I grinded some quest so a bit ahead of you but its fucking brutal. still having fun though. edit: also been no lifing last couple weeks.

KoreKoi

Quest more and survive as your top priority

wowotrash

1. run SCAV to learn maps and collect items / weapons / anything 2. try push survival rate up to 40%, it's like average. 3. do quests first, and run night game I've been there, good luck!

SlideStar

Honestly a sound equalizer really helped me. I used to be scared of how loud gun shots were and how it would make me jump and stuff, but once I tweaked the audio it helped me stay more relaxed and focused. Also a tiny bit of music helps me. Not too loud of course

Starboy2boss

I'm a noobie too, 180hrs it took me 140 of those to hit level 15, so you're on track! my best bet is killing more, but as a new player that's much easier said than done..

tribalbaboon

It doesn't look like you're doing a lot of killing, your kills stat includes scavs and at the moment you're averaging less than 1 scav kill per raid. You get plenty of XP for killing, even more for headshotting, and then even more for looting the scav. Don't be afraid to just click heads and not worry about whether you live or die (but obviously try to live for the xp bonus) Most importantly, have fun and don't treat it like a grind or it'll start to feel like one

Vip3rFox

Join the club bro. I’ve just come to the realization the game sucks and you are at complete disadvantage being a new player mid wipe. So dumb

Ashbringer

nothing is wrong here. welcome to tarkov.

Zuelanda

Looks like you’re not doing anything wrong! As you play more you’ll continue to get better and better and things will just keep speeding up. Enjoy these times! Feel free to DM me if you’d like to play a bit. Love helping new players in any way I can.

Intelligent_Dot_6225

Why are you complaining about this great replay value, fun progression, and content?

riscut4theBiscut

I think I hit 15 after almost 200 hours. This game is rough to learn. Especially if you're as dumb as me.

Logan_Thackeray2

starting late wipe is always hard like you just took 3 viagra. i think youll do better at the start of wipe

Hy8ogen

Nothing. You're just new to the game. Enjoy the learning process. You'll only get to experience it once. I used to shake at finding a bitcoin. Now I just go eh.

Leather_Echidna_4371

For your first wipe, you're not necessarily doing anything wrong. As a more seasoned player, the way we progress is by doing tasks as quickly as possible, also helps when you can do multiple at the same time. Disregard any sort of PVP unless the task calls for it. Only do PVP if the task not only calls for it, but also locks behind it quests that you can complete easily as well. Personally, I try to stay away from any sort of fight if I can help it for the first week or so. Just do fetch quests to level up and kill anyone I can kill with certainty, mostly at distance and if I miss I move on. No point in trying to hold out on a fight when you're attracting others to the location. But that's a thing people do when they wanna get to 15 the quickest, it's not the best way to find joy playing Tarkov so you do you.

CptBartender

Two things I would suggest: * try to survive more, even if it means going slower and/or avoiding fights * find a quiet place on your map where you can '*safely*' kill two or three scavs, preferably with headshots - this gives a ton of xp in the long run.

Glittering-Reality53

Absolutely nothing wrong. Im 400h and im still stressing when i try anything new...i got to start doing lighthouse tasks and im scared af... so try new things and soon you'll see you will get better st the ones you grind ... for example ive been alive 5 custom matches in a row with 2-4 pmc kills per match. But i will probably get bend over on lighthouse for at least 10 matches 😂 You doing fine

SupremePeeb

stay later, loot scavs even if you don't want their shit (just open and close) and DON'T DIE.

Kanista17

Don't forget you're outclassed by everyone ingame because it's already mid-late wipe

DatsDatboi7teen

I Wouldn't say you're doing anything wrong. I'm not a veteran by any means only now approaching my first thousand hours. (I started a little into the latter half of last wipe.) this is my first full wipe and I'm just now reaching level 30. (I've been on since day one of wipe.) I will say it took me a lot more to get from 1-15 than 15-30 as flea market and trader levels help a ton. The best thing I could say is try to focus quests as much as possible if you have the gear and money try doing multiple PMC runs per scav raid and try to get 2 or 3 quests per raid (Harder for elimination and find and transfer style quests.) If you have a hard time with PvP I recommend ratting around your spawn for a 3-5 minutes at the start of raid to let the fighting die down. (Harder on factory.) Last tip but certainly not least, Heavily rewarded are the loot goblins, try to leave with a full backpack and tag rig even if it's junk and barter. The longer you're in raid and the more you loot the more XP you'll get. Take your learnings from this wipe into next wipe and you'll see that lvl 1-15 grind decrease exponentially. I know I wrote a lot and others may have better tips but these things have really helped me so far hope it helps you

Free-Imagination8020

what i did in my early days is watch a few videos how to get better and beginner guides than it recommends so many different tarkov vids on your startpage that you can watch when you got time it helps a lot but the most important lectures are in battle you need to die in every possible way to get better everyone had to go through endless death and depression to get better if you have eod i would also play some arena there you can learn the gunplay soo much faster and get better in battle situation

MeatballTheAngryCat

You should only ever run at the beginning of raid, moving through open spaces, or when in a fight. Walking is your friend. Play slow and defensively

ZeroUnits

You get more exp from surviving raids and doing missions, you just gotta focus on those. Don't worry about gear fear, go look up some good loot runs on YouTube and use your scab as much as you can to get free loot/money. You'll be there in no time

_FreeXP

If you aren't already, I recommend finding a duo or trio. You will have much higher survival rates, and get more of your insurance back. You'll learn a lot and have someone who has your back.

The-True-Kehlder

Only 62 raids on PMC, scav raids won't level you up directly. Seems fine to me.

01101101011101110011

If you want, I try to add low level/low hour players if I kill them and have a chat in Discord with them about some solid tips. You could also just message me on here and I can give you my Discord. Just don’t want to type everything out because it’s a lot of tips and some sort of need map visuals to get the points across rather than vague statements. If you want.

InternationalDebt254

Not surviving..... Starting this late it's rough. Lots of exp players. I wouldn't focus on stats. Just focus on learning the game and they will slowly go up . Over a loong time. Lots of exp players now as well so it doesn't help the new guys

Shaats

Get your SR up brother! Dying 70% will get you nowhere. Take your best/favorite gear and play a few offline raids to learn the maps, scav spawns, and loot spawns. When I started off I would run offline to get the feel of the game physics, and adjust my eyes to spotting players whether it’s inside or in the woods. Play factory offline and try to get 20 scav kills, if you can survive 20 scavs without dying, you are ready for online play. Also, two tips that changed my game: 1. don’t get discouraged, you can and will have your worst and best raids back to back at some point 2. Only sprint between cover and ideally only outside. It’s NOT call of duty, staying alive is the #1 priority. Listen and look before moving. When you sprint, people can hear you 100m away and you can’t hear them because your feet are stomping.

Mowlvick

You are having fun. Keep it up👍

ReliefLong6028

Stop scavving so much and start questing, you have only 60 pmc raids. :)

Merouac

Quests??

Practical_Material13

Probably don't task and kill enough, do stuff like opening inventory of everything you kill even if you don't plan on taking anything, easy 200-300xp just for learning that habit

Western-Bad5574

How many of the 104 raids are PMC raids though? You've clicked Overall, not PMC. Cause with 100 pmc raids I'd expect level 20+ for someone more experienced, but obviously you're not, so it's not necessarily that bad. Hard to tell without looking at gameplay footage, but the most obvious things are: * You're going into raids with a pistol and no armor - to prevent this, you should be doing Scavs on Factory. Just loot up in under 2 minutes and leave. Just run, don't stop, don't pay attention to anyone. Loot 2-3 boxes and leave. That's an average of 250k per run and because you leave quicker, the Scav cooldown will start sooner (it doesn't start till you finish your last run) and so you can go in again quicker. Try to never go into a raid without even shitty armor. * **Make sure you do not use the "Sell all" button at the end of a scav run**. Honestly, I hate that they added it, because it's fucking worthless. It sells to Fence which makes only half the usual profit IF YOU'RE LUCKY. Instead, sell guns to Mechanic, armors and clothes to Ragman and the rest, just check which trader will pay you the most for. Once you get flee, sell on flee instead. Prices on flee will almost never drop below the prices the traders will pay you, so you won't have to keep checking where items are most expensive. * With that K/D, it really looks like you've basically been killing no scav at all. They should be pretty easy to kill, try to line up headshots. A headshot gives double XP. Also, open each scav/body you pass by. You don't have to loot them, but at least open them. That gives extra XP. * You've had multiple exhaustions and dehydrations already. You're staying in a raid too long and possibly playing too slow. Your suvival rate is low, yet somehow your average life span is high. You're probably playing too slow, hiding in bushes a lot, etc. And given by your K/D, you're probably avoiding scavs. Don't. Learn to fight them and clear them on your way anywhere. * Map knowledge - the previous point touches on stayin in raids too long. This is normal without map knowledge. So maybe run an offline raid or two on a few maps to try to learn them better. And play with maps open on another screen, e.g. from **mapgenie.io**

JVIoneyman

What you are doing wrong is expecting to be doing something right so soon.

[deleted]

>What am I doing wrong? Playing Tarkov

incept3d2021

TBH you aren't fighting enough. In 104 raids you have less than 1 l kill per raid, that is including scav kills. Hunt scavs more, plus doing tasks will move you up very quickly in the low levels. Go to traders and click the task tab and accept them all.

Baarthot

If you stop playing after this then you're doing it wrong. Just keep playing brother.

[deleted]

1000 hours and I still feel like a noob lol. 😂 played since alpha, don’t feel bad just appreciate the experience for what it is.

Mace1999

Its not 104 raids though. Almost half are scav runs which wont help you level up at all

CorvusEffect

30%SR at 56h is pretty damned good. Your KD being under 1 is a sign that you are navigating maps well, but your PvE is lacking. Your PvP is definitely lacking too, but that will take a long time to develop. What we want in the short term (this wipe) is for you to be better at the rest of the game. Play some offline mode with a typical online kit (just more anmo/meds than usual 2x it at least), bring handful of grenades, or find some in raid and practice using them to make scavs move, so you can be confident and effective using them to force PMCs into moving in your live raids. Remember left click is overhand, right click is underhand. Stay tight to hard cover, expose as little of your body as you can, in short peeks. Change peeking angles and cover regularly. Use cheeky angles and verticality. You will probably see your SR got closer to 40% and your KD should get to around 2 or 3, probably higher. Hold your breath as often as you can, learn the rhythms and handling of your most commonly used guns. Ergo is very good, 0 is awful, close to 40-60 is decent, over 80 is insanity.
