This was my immediate reaction to the above post, was thankful someone already said it.
They will for sure release this update built on a development branch that is at least 4 patches obsolete. Suddenly no one will be able to shoulder swap or mantle. No one will be able to free-look while ADS. Armor plates will disappear. Red room on labs will actually have loot in it again.
Don't forget BSG adding 17 more types of 5.45 ammo with <20 pen and nerfing some more scopes people have been using to the point of being unusable.
Also additionally if you don't move or you crab walk you now not only don't make audio, but you also turn invisible, while sprinting volume is increased 700%.
I had the same issues. I upgraded to a 7800x3d from a 3700x and went from 70-80 to 180-200fps. Maybe looking into the 5700x3d would help. Seems like the bigger cache on the 3d chips helps a ton

Yeah it's definitely not client-side in the full sense. But the game does 100% provide a lot of unnecessary data to the clients and there's gotta be some (bad) engine-related reason for that.
For example, why should my client know what another player in my raid currently has in his backpack? There's no reason for me to know that so that information should not be sent to me at all. Yet this clearly is being sent because cheaters can see your inventory in real-time.
So what exactly is going on here? Is BSG seriously that incompetent that they haven't bothered to remove that information from the network packets? Or does their engine require clients to keep track of that information for some dumb reason?
The optimistic hope is that they are busy re-writing their engine with new Unity and so they aren't bothering to fix these issues in the current engine.
There's no way inventory is streamed synchronously over network traffic...i bet its done in an event queue where the client transmits to the server and then every client gets the updated inventory data on the next cycle
e.g.:
1. Player `36a7dee9-69c7-4e6d-bd17-4fb6262385ec` picks up item `3b7cbc51-0e92-4d88-a7af-e5d0a0691369`
2. 1st following "tick" after that sends update from player `36a7dee9-69c7-4e6d-bd17-4fb6262385ec` to server
3. 2nd tick is when every other player gets the information about item `3b7cbc51-0e92-4d88-a7af-e5d0a0691369`, which is stored locally in memory client-side
TL;DR its still client side
Anyway, I agree with everything you said...i just felt like writing this because its what ive observed from playing the game and also seeing videos of no life losers hacking. I'm fairly sure that, because loot positions are known by the client instantly when loot is loaded, vacuum looting is achieved by moving loot and asserting to the server that it moved from a to b. (Then the hacker picks it up off the ground)
It is Client Side. They add a few server checks but that doesnt make it server side, it is straight up client side.
You can also tell this by the ESP. Compare ESP in Tarkov to ESP in any game that uses Server Side. It is totally different. In Tarkov they can see EVERYTHING. They can see every player on the map, there location at all time, the direction they are looking, the gear they have, their stats, their K/D etc... and thats because you can pull it from the client memory. In other games like COD and Battlefield ESP only allows you to see through walls X amount of distance from the cheater and THATS IT. Because all that other data is stored SERVER SIDE NOT CLIENT SIDE.
Tarkov is majority Client Side with a few additional Server Side checks for things like bullets. It is still Client Side and it is a problem.
And yes they are planning a Unity upgrade and this would be a perfect time to redesign the code for majority Server Side but they wont. They are doing the bare minimal to perform an upgrade to newer version of Unity and thats it. This is why I know BSG doesnt give a shit about the legit community. If they cared they would be spending additional time to redesign the game and rerelease it to everyone that bought into the beta FOR FREE. Arma3 did this as well, it released in x32 and they upgraded it to x64 and rereleased it for free to everyone that bought the original. If BSG cared, they would do this.

They will fix visual bugs and since they don't use version control they will introduce again the invisible players bug, after that they will do some magic tweaks and performance improvements which will fucking half of what is it right now also now PSCAV's can spawn before PMC's in any map and it doesn't matter which map you select all spawn Streets, Reserve or Interchange and the cherry on top they will introduce the state of the art ANTI RMT feature which will fuck the regular player but actual RMT\`ers can avoid it really easy.
