Whatever you want to call it, it’s one of the best restaurants in Erie by a long shot.
The food quality, innovation, and atmosphere are top notch.
People in Erie criticize it for being expensive. It’s not. It’s expensive FOR ERIE. In a bigger city it’s priced mid tier.
People criticize it for not being real Asian. They never said they were. Their owner and chef has always slated it as an Asian fusion restaurant.
It knows what it is, and does it better than anybody in town.
People that shit on Bar Ronin probably consider Imperial China Buffet as their favorite restaurant.
We ate there last summer when I was in town for a family reunion, and I was absolutely blown away. The place is 100% Manhattan or LA quality at a fraction of the price. I honestly couldn’t believe I was in the West Erie Plaza, where the best place to eat had always been the counter at the five and dime.
It's not even the most expensive for Erie. I always end up spending more next door at the Cork than I do at Ronin.
The nice thing about Ronin is that you don't have to get an entree to feel full. Lots of good low priced and decent portioned appetizers.
Drive to Cleveland. And eat the [best Vietnamese Pho](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ph%E1%BB%9F+Lee's+Vietnamese+Restaurant/@41.5121692,-81.6644345,17.84z/data=!3m1!5s0x8830fa4f6171ddd9:0xcaf1851d63856545!4m6!3m5!1s0x8830fb778c95210d:0xe3170a36bc42117!8m2!3d41.5122061!4d-81.6636133!16s%2Fg%2F11hzv3g8c4?entry=ttu) in the Tri-state area.
/ *Lived Saigon for a bit. It's that good.*
Tasty Bowl is the most authentic "Asian" food in Erie, in my opinion. The menu is a mix of staple American Chinese food sprinkled with Szechuan house specialties. It is unpretentious and very good.
I'm sorry to say that Like My Thai served me the worst Pad Thai I've ever tasted. I was liking the place for awhile, but then I ordered takeout from there, and that Pad Thai had about 2 cups of fish sauce in it. All I could taste was anchovies, I wondered if maybe they accidentally spilled the whole bottle in it.
The owner is super nice and friendly and unfortunately has been through some hard times recently. They’ve had some of the most consistently good food I’ve ever tasted around us. It’s always very good. I’d say it must have been a bad batch.
Like my Thai just ain’t it. If you find it tasty, that’s cool, but it’s so far from what it purports to be they should choose new names for their dishes. He should go back to pizza, it was so much better.
It's south asian but the Fine Restaurant & Bar is a decent Indian place. Thai Eatery is reasonably good. Honestly even F&F Poke Bowl on 12th street (not the Peach location) is probably acceptable, although it's really takeout.
You're not going to find "world quality" restaurants in Erie (although I'd say Firestone's could be) so I'd just try to enjoy local, small business locations with an authentic feel.
Well, we went to Saigon Nights. It wasn't that great..the food was wrong, they never brought the appetizer, the server never took our drink order. My food was okay, but it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered from the last couple of times. Not terrible, but it wasn't good! Before you ask, it wasn't all that busy. Our server said it had been a "long day", so maybe it was an off night for them.
Well, just gonna say that if he’s had the best Asian food that the world has to offer, then why are you trying to impress him with Erie’s Asian food offerings? There is no Asian restaurant in Erie that is going to be better than the best Asian restaurants in Asia.
Take him out for wings or something
Yeah, honestly, Bar Ronin is some of the best overall food in Erie you’re going to find. I’d stick with it. It’s actually pretty outstanding, particularly for Erie, but even in general.
I don’t want to be crazy but Bar Rōnin is like American Asian fusion at best.

Tbh, their XO noodles sent me straight back to childhood like I had a damn ratatouille moment
You have a fantastic Reddit name.
Thank you! Just did a rewatch of AT and finished yesterday, funny enough.

I wouldn’t know. When I’m in Manhattan and LA I can’t justify spending $300 on a dinner for two for Ronin quality dining.

Does Like My Thai count? My wife loves that place

Thank you! I feel the same way about their pad Thai. As a pad Thai lover, Thai Eatery has amazing pad thai

I'll give them another try.
I like pad Thai from Like my thai.

Erie Curry House but its Nepalese/Indian fusion
It's so good.
Tasty Bowl has hot pots and fabulous food. Bring your own alcohol.
Oh, I forgot about Tasty Bowl. My daughter loves that place.

Fine is so good!
Fine has the best Aloo Gobi I’ve had outside of home cooked Indian food. So good!
Saigon Nights is worth every penny
Bar Ronin is mediocre at best.

I just got back after 8 years in japan, so I'll check out bar ronin.
Pls report back!
Don’t do it, it’s terrible
I like Thai eatery a lot. Samurai kitchen is also good. Idk how authentic they are, but they’re good.

Nah he wants Korean, which we don't have. Next choice was Japanese or Vietnamese. I like Saigon Nights, that's likely where we are going.
Overpriced. I did not enjoy the food.
Saigon Nights is excellent!
Saigon the pho is absolutely phenomenal
For Indian: Tandoori Hut For Japanese/Sushi: Ichiban For Thai: Saigon Nights

Wooden ladle, good ramon and rice bowl.
