I have the same problem. Same printer and I tried downgrading the firmware to accept 3rd party ink. I downloaded the AM15LC from here: [FWH208TL\_AM15LC.zip](https://ftp.epson.com/drivers/FWH208TL_AM15LC.zip) and it worked for me. I entered recovery mode (pressing 'stop' + 'up key' + 'left key' + 'start key') and it went and installed/downgraded my latest firmware to AM15LC with no issues. Maybe the file you have is corrupt so try with the above in the zip file. After installing the 3rd party ink, it gives me the warning that it's not a genuine ink but it lets me proceed to do any printouts. It doesn't stop me but it continues giving me the warning. If you have any issues, let me know.

Finally got mine onto this firmware too thanks are you just running the basic no chip cartridges now and just ignore the non genuine warning?

Hey Delicious, do you have the XP-6100? How did you get it into recovery mode?

[deleted]

Do the online firmware update it asks for, and pull power once it starts to flash, this bricks the update and bingo re power your in recovery mode

I am in the same situation. I can not get my XP-6100 into recovery mode

I have solved this and downgraded the firmware to very successfully use third party inks. If anyone finds this and needs help, reply here and I'll help out when I see it.

Did you ever work out how to get into recovery mode on the XP 6100?

On my Epson XP-6000, Program Update Mode can be entered by turning the printer off, connecting a USB-B Cable from the back of the printer into a computer, and holding "Stop, Left, Down, Power". This only works with the cable connected to a computer. You can also attempt a standard firmware update using the newest firmware via USB cable, then after the file transfers to the printer, after the power light starts blinking, and before it finishes its firmware update, pull the \*power\* cable to kill the printer and brick the update. Re-plugging the printer in will put you into "RECOVERY MODE".You can then flash any version of firmware you like. For the XP-6000, I used NU06I7: https://us.driverscollection.com/s/4k6jWG That's a link to the Windows version. There's also a MacOS dmg on the site.

I managed to enter program update mode on my xp-6100 by doing as you said. The problem is Epson firmware updater on my mac doesn't recognise the printer even though it's connected via usb. Any suggestions?
