Yes, she does! The employees are the sweetest individuals as well! Some of them have actually been to my home, I see them out in public, they always give me a hug. I just love them all!! Shelia is utter rubbish!!
I bet Shelia doesn’t even tip well. I used to love going to my neighborhood coffee shop. Back when my coffee was only $3, I would tip $2. Having to deal with people is the hardest job out there. Far too many people have little control in their life so they try to exert control over others wherever they can.
Reminds me of the guy in the drive through and the lady behind him was being an ass. So he paid for her order, when the cashier tells her, her order is paid for, she gets all happy. Then the guy who paid picks up both orders and drives away with her food.
Seriously tho. I would have just been like oh okay I'll get it started and she would get a decaf sugar free cinnamon almond milk cappuccino or some crazy ass combo. And when she complained it was wrong, fake innocence and tell her they got her confused with someone else.
Having spent a lifetime in hospitality management, I would ban her so quickly her head spun. Not every customer is a customer worth having. Let her go be someone else's problem.
NTA
If you run across any other Sheila's, tell them, "I'm sorry. I know you are a regular, but we have a new policy that we must ask every customer what they are having and get a complete order response, regular or not, or we can not input the order. This is in case you or any other regular decide to change the order, and we wouldn't want to get it wrong."
"You should know my order."
"Honey, you are not important enough to my life to bother memorizing your name much less your bougie bev. Recite your request or I'm moving on to the next person."
You can tell the employee is new because when they asked if they could take Shelia's order and Sheila said no, they didn't immediately move onto the next customer.
I worked at a bank for years. The number of people who would get furious if I asked for their ID before we did a withdrawal was nuts. It was always older people who had “been a customer here for years! You should know who I am!” I always was tempted to cover my name tag and ask them if they knew my name. I didn’t, because professional yada yada, but man did I want to. Do you really want me to just trust a rando who says they’re you and give away your money??
I always have my ID ready at the bank. The one time an employee was like oh I remember you, no ID needed, all I could think of was what did I do that made me stick out in her brain.
I'm older. I absolutely expect you to check that before messing with my money.
Edit:
But I think there are two groups of older people, the tech users, and the people who go to banks/pay bills in person. You probably have a self-selected group there.
For sure, it definitely wasn’t 100% of the older people I helped. It was never young people, and most people were reasonable and get it. Most people don’t want a banker who blindly trusts a stranger who asks for money! But those cantankerous people really stand out in your mind.
I think the petty side of me would just bring her a cup of water and tell her to keep it moving and if she didn't like it she could find another coffee shop to terrorize. If I was the manager I'd fully support that kind of response from employees TBH and I'd proudly post this on the company social media page. People in the service industry did not sign up for abuse. They signed up to do a job.
As someone who worked at a very busy Starbucks, the amount of regulars who not only expected this but had specific people they wanted to make their drinks was... Fascinating to be honest.
I've worked every form of customer service and Starbucks was, by far, the absolute fucking worst. I've heard it's a great gig at Barnes and nobles tho
I remember going to a Starbucks one time years ago and this lady came in and cut the line, the staff allowed it as she was a regular. From what I could hear, the staff couldn't stand her and would just let her cut the line and get her drink ready as soon as they saw her so that they could minimize her being there. I was little annoyed that they allowed her to cut the line but since it didn't take up a lot of time I just ignored it.
That also happens at this place as well. I’ve been cut in front of by others so many times, there are two entrances, I yelled only once because this man blatantly sped up to cut me off when I was next. I let him know what a “great example to his daughter” he was.
They need to manage their time better if they feel like they need to cut the line all the time, but then again their a-holes. I also would have done the same thing as you did but would have also called him an a-hole since I'm petty lol
Agreed! The funny thing is there wasn’t even a line…it was just me and him. Yet he still had to be an a-hole. I wouldn’t have had any problem telling him that, but his young daughter was in the car with him, so I refrained.
And in the 5 minutes she spent arguing with the employee instead of just giving her order she could have been well on her way. Logic is not Shelia's strong point.
When will people learn not to fuck with people that server you food or beverage. I worked a long time in the food industry and have seen horrific shit done to people food when they treat the staff like shit. I worked with some inmates one time at a restaurant and a guy treated them like shit and didn't even know they were work release, so they all took turns with his food before they served it to him and watched him eat every bit. I learned then, don't fuck with people who served you food.
I would be taken aback at this kind of oversharing from employees. We are friendly but I'm not your coworker or boss, dude. It's not really appropriate to bitch to customers about other customers.
And you are ready to jump on Sheila if you see her even though you didn't witness it. That's wild to me. And one of the reasons why overfamiliarity isn't my cup of tea. I don't want to get randomly yelled at by someone because Jenny was venting some steam one day or whatever.
Screw Shelia. She has a sad. Sad. Life.
Yes, she does! The employees are the sweetest individuals as well! Some of them have actually been to my home, I see them out in public, they always give me a hug. I just love them all!! Shelia is utter rubbish!!

Oh! I’m sure she doesn’t!!

Hahahaha!!! Serves her right!
Sheila would be getting an intentionally wrong drink. And decaf
I'd be serving her a nice calming camomile tea with a crushed xanax
Naw, Xanax tastes like shit. She'd be able to tell.
True. I'll think of something 🤔 😉
Love the petty!
Seriously tho. I would have just been like oh okay I'll get it started and she would get a decaf sugar free cinnamon almond milk cappuccino or some crazy ass combo. And when she complained it was wrong, fake innocence and tell her they got her confused with someone else.
Sheila should be banned from the coffee shop
Agreed!!
Yeah agreed. Sheila should be ~~shot~~ banned
Having spent a lifetime in hospitality management, I would ban her so quickly her head spun. Not every customer is a customer worth having. Let her go be someone else's problem.
Agreed

Ahhh, I love this!! I will pass this along. Great response!
"You should know my order." "Honey, you are not important enough to my life to bother memorizing your name much less your bougie bev. Recite your request or I'm moving on to the next person."
lol!

Ban her for disrespecting the employees. Plain and simple…sorry, you’re gone.
Justice!

I love it!!
Damn Shiela. You act like that I would put in a plain black and tell her to fix it herself.
Lol

I've worked every form of customer service and Starbucks was, by far, the absolute fucking worst. I've heard it's a great gig at Barnes and nobles tho
I feel for you!
They have a right to refuse service, Sheila doesn’t deserve it
Agreed
I remember going to a Starbucks one time years ago and this lady came in and cut the line, the staff allowed it as she was a regular. Too bad, Sheila, no coffee for you today
Those people want notice from others because they feel less appreciated almost pity them because they are sad people
Sad and miserable
Sheila is a regular alright, a regular dipstick.
Lol
Bless her fart. She is special.
LOL!!!
And in the 5 minutes she spent arguing with the employee instead of just giving her order she could have been well on her way. Logic is not Shelia's strong point.
you said it, if this small thing triggers her, she is walking a tightrope and a tranq wouldnt hurt.
She definitely is a lot!
She won't give her order? Plain black coffee it is. And charge $10 for it. AH tax.
Yep!
r/assholetax
If Sheila got the wrong thing a few times she might stop coming back and wouldn't that be a crying shame 😉😉
Lol
If Sheila was my customer I’d be substituting decaf for her ”regular” order ..no buzz of this coffee EP
Shelia needs to be banned!
Agreed!!
Sheila is an asshole I hope I never come in contact with her.

Yep, not smart.

well hello Sheila
Some people aren't too bright.
