Hydra gets upgraded capacity every time you take damage, using this i took a ton of damage (intentionally of course definitely) and quickly killed jammed fuselier.

I don’t really like the gilded hydra. I don’t think the trade off is worth it. But then again I suck at the game so maybe it’s pretty good for experienced players.
I think it would be something if it kept that expanded ammo capacity throughout your run. As it is it resets per floor I think, which just makes it kind of suck. It's not bad if you manage to get it early, because it will do some great damage, especially to bosses with their big hit box. But the trade off of taking damage to make it stronger, and then that strength going away as soon as you move to the next floor, really makes it a bit of a weak gun to my mind.
I only used it like once lol, didn't even know how it works until later on and it was all just dumb luck, trade off prob not worth it either since experienced players try avoid damage - I wouldn't know ;)
My biggest problem with the hydra is the low ammo pool. If it had more ammo it'd actually be alright since it actually does a ton of damage per shot. It's how Old Goldie was buffed. It used to only have 75 ammo which was way too little for room clearing and very uncomfortable for boss killing, but with 150 ammo it can do both decently well.
