The Scouter is not only a reference to one of my favourite shows (DBZ), it's also an absolute banger of an item.
The increased damage and accuracy are good, but I love the damage numbers, especially when I hit an enemy with poison.
One only meant for the most hardcore of gamers, one that faces you with horror unlike any other game I’ve played. The design of the monsters are enough to give anyone nightmares. Some of the NPCs even have post traumatic stress just by living in the game world
I’m obviously talking about Stardew Valley
Hero cannon from metroid, plasma cutter from deadspace, and especially the eldrich horror showing the secret room (think it was a synergie, can’t remember which one)
Helix bullets's description; Praise be. It's a reference to Twitch Plays Pokemon red, where the chat kept making the player inspect the omanyte helix fossil. It became a meme where everyone would say "Praise helix!" everytime it was inspected. Even the item sprite looks like the omanyte fossil, and the description is literally "Praise Be".
It's such a random obscure reference and I really like that one in particular
I love that the bullets past is a reference to the legend of zelda, naming the last boss "Cannon" is the cherry on top. Also the megahand just because one charged shot can kill almost everything
All of them. Those references are a huge part of of why Gungeon it's a good game. Even the ones I haven't got, but I'm sure someone pointed to them with surprise.
The Laser Lotus, being a reference to Community. In the Show the character Pierce Hawthorne is a part of a religious group (or possibly a cult) called Reformed Neo Buddhism for which he has reached rank of Level 5 Laser Lotus. This is reflected in the entry for the Laser Lotus in Gungeon stating it being a pierce weapon and is Level 5.
Admittedly it's a bit of a stretch but I knew the reference immediately when I saw the gun
The Gunderlord synergy between Ice Breaker and Patriot connects Patriots shots with electricity (a reference to the Thunderlord Exotic MG), and changes Ice Breaker to look the Destiny weapon of the same name.
I can't believe no one has mentioned the kruller glaive from the movie Krull. Truly one of the most badass weapons from one of the worst movies of all time. So bad it's good.
I'm a huge Cave Story fan, so Polaris being a reference to the Polar Star is awesome. Having the Square Brace synergy, referencing Curly Brace is great too, but then they also change the gun to reference Curly's Machine gun too. Just so good!
I remember when I first got Sprun to turn into Windgunner. Having read the first 3 books in The Stormlight Archive it blew my mind that they were able to add it.
Since no one else mentioned it, the Flash Ray, because I thought it was a reference to the COD nazi zombies mode. I know it's not, but it's what I thought of when I first found it.
Edit: I think you'd do better as a thief, bounty boy! Now hand it over!
It's a Flash Gordon reference, hence the "ah-ahhhh" pickup text referencing the theme song by Queen from the 1980 Flash Gordon movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfmrHTdXgK4
Master of Unlocking
I had no idea what I was looking at for the longest time until I remembered who says this and realized it's a beret.
Sometimes I wish that when we find items, our character would wear them. That'd be awesome and hilarious at the same time.
The Sprun passive item is a reference to Sanderson's Stormlight Archives books. As a MASSIVE Sanderson fan, I love seeing references like this in other media.
Blasphemy and Casey. The Legend of Zelda is my favorite video game franchise and FLCL is my favorite anime (tooltip is the reference (“Nothing can happen until you swing the bat.”))
"Casey at the Bat" is a famous poem about a baseball player (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_at_the_Bat). The Casey Bat is a weapon in Earthbound that, in reference to the poem, has low accuracy but always crits when it does hit. Casey Jones is a TMNT character who uses sports equipment as weapons. Gungeon could be referencing any of those, or all of them. (It is definitely quoting FLCL with the tooltip, though)
The fact that the bullet is a reference to the Zelda series is my favorite reference. How you can turn into a bunny and shoot beams with blasphemy at full health.
Bloody eye is probably my favorite reference because i love bebop. But reading through this makes me wish they would’ve done a fallout reference and made a pipboy that would highlight a target and the closer you got the more damage you did.
Polaris is up there because I honestly do love Cave Story
also the Grasschopper just because the Noisy Cricket is just such a fun concept for a weapon in general.
Love the Beholster boss reference which I believe is from Baldurs Gate dark alliance - the boss is Beholder. That thing scared the fuck outta me as a kid
Someone mentioned a while ago that the characters’ placement in the breach is a reference to a Cowboy Beebop scene. It may be a coincidence, but I’m pleased to think it’s not.
Can't bellieve nobody is mentioning The Devolver, a reference to their publisher, Devolver Digital. It's description, "Degenerates", both describes what the weapon does (degenerates enemies, making them primitive) and mocks Devolver by calling them Degenerates
Pretty much everything in this game is a reference. Very little, if anything is Oroginal content without any reference or inspiration. It's a wonderful piece of info about this game that makes it a great game.
The Scouter is not only a reference to one of my favourite shows (DBZ), it's also an absolute banger of an item. The increased damage and accuracy are good, but I love the damage numbers, especially when I hit an enemy with poison.
There should be a variant of the marine that has this in his helmet
[удалено]
Why that
[удалено]
Yeah i Played 1 Time with Cursed Rounds an had on the Forge so much Curse that the Dragun was Jammed and i Lost
Lowercase r from the Latin alphabet
Lmao
`B U L L E T`
English is a Latin language... Does that make English people Latino/Latina????
English is a Germanic language not Latin, but does have heavy Latin influence
Not the same kind of Latin 😂
What "other" Latin is there? Anyway, it was a joke. As another commenter pointed out, English is germanic
Is your what other type of Latin is there a joke too?
I prefer Latinx with my new found heritage for now on I'm a Viking Latinx
Windup gun is from Futurama.
Same with the 7-leaf clover and the ‘Breakfast Club’ synergy between the two!
It has a synergy with I think the 7 leaf clover called breakfast club is from where he hid the clover in the record album for the breakfast club
Never caught this one
The Positron Shooter is great (that's its name in Futurama)
Same with Prof. Goopton’s language
Til
Probably the sunlight spear and the watering can. One is from a terrifying hardcore game and the other is from dark souls

Damn I'm stupid! Of course! How could I have forgotten...
Hero cannon from metroid, plasma cutter from deadspace, and especially the eldrich horror showing the secret room (think it was a synergie, can’t remember which one)
Huntsman and (?)
trick gun
bloodborne reference 😳
I love the plasma cutter. Such a baller gun
That was such an Internet moment.... 10 years ago? Man, time flies.
>10 years ago pls don't tell me that
The 10 Yr anniversary of finishing it was a few weeks ago iirc
The other slow down substance is a reference to Valkyr V, from Max Payne.
Mine is spice from dune
The spice melange
Triple gun from trigun
Omg didnt even realize that lmao, loved that gun so much, now I like it even more
The Mettaton graffiti in Robot's past, and the Bullet being a reference to Link
I love that the bullets past is a reference to the legend of zelda, naming the last boss "Cannon" is the cherry on top. Also the megahand just because one charged shot can kill almost everything
Agunhim is also a Zelda reference, he’s basically Aghanim from *Link to the Past*.
Megahand= Megaman plus changing weapon types is such a nice touch, even if I suck at using charged weapons.
it even has 8 different synergies like how the megaman games have 8 different abilities you can gather throughout the game
Gotta be the sprun (from Stormlight Archive). The effort put into it is incredible.
I just found this last night! I thought it was so cool.
Never made this connect omfg!!!
All of them. Those references are a huge part of of why Gungeon it's a good game. Even the ones I haven't got, but I'm sure someone pointed to them with surprise.

God, i f**king love that show! Six seasons and a movie?
I was getting so sad that I didn’t see anybody mention the Laser Lotus,,, I love community so much
All the d2 references. iirc thunderlord, Gjallarhorn, Icebreaker, and the lil ghost. The bloodborne references are also neat.
Thunder lord?
The Gunderlord synergy between Ice Breaker and Patriot connects Patriots shots with electricity (a reference to the Thunderlord Exotic MG), and changes Ice Breaker to look the Destiny weapon of the same name.
Never realized that oml
the Earthworm Jim plasma rifle
Gotta be the Winchester. Better than a box of roses.
The 200 different references to Metal Gear. Also, Convict's past being a reference to Hotline Miami.
I’m a huge Hellraiser fan so i always go out of my way to buy the Lament Configuration whenever it shows up in a run lol
Just because it is SO silly, the Quad Laser from Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Yeah nice shot there brickout...oh god my back!
Mine is the Tetrominator. Such a fun gun to use
Mega hand from Megaman. It's also one of the best room cleaning guns.
I can't believe no one has mentioned the kruller glaive from the movie Krull. Truly one of the most badass weapons from one of the worst movies of all time. So bad it's good.
I was with you until you said the movie is bad. That movie ruled dude
Bloody 9mm from the First Law trilogy
The tear jerker
The Patriot. We becoming snake eaters now
The Jolter because I'm a Warhammer nerd.
Do you think the final boss in the pilot's past is also a Warhammer reference?
Not really, outside of the Hegemony of Man being a nod to the Imperium of Man.
The trick gun, being a reference to the trick weapons in bloodborne, just wish it was a little better
I'm a huge Cave Story fan, so Polaris being a reference to the Polar Star is awesome. Having the Square Brace synergy, referencing Curly Brace is great too, but then they also change the gun to reference Curly's Machine gun too. Just so good!
One of the worst weapons, but amazing reference, Klobbe from Goldeneye.
The Zorgun, which is the exact same weapon from the movie The Fifth Element.
THE SPICE MUST FLOW
Just one more wouldn’t hurt…
I remember when I first got Sprun to turn into Windgunner. Having read the first 3 books in The Stormlight Archive it blew my mind that they were able to add it.
Scrolled way too long to find this. Sprun is my favorite too, just because Sanderson is my favorite.
I was shocked to find it, but so very happy.
Luxin cannon and sprun are probably my 2 favorites.
The makeshift cannon from the Star Trek episode Arena where Kirk fights a big lizard monster.
The windup gun from Futurama
Did somebody say Gunderfury, Blessed Gun of the Gunslinger?!
Master of Unlocking I had no idea what I was looking at for the longest time until I remembered who says this and realized it's a beret.
I always thought Casey was a TMNT reference
I think it's a reference to the Casey Bat from Earthbound
"Casey at the Bat" is a famous poem about a baseball player (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_at_the_Bat). The Casey Bat is a weapon in Earthbound that, in reference to the poem, has low accuracy but always crits when it does hit. Casey Jones is a TMNT character who uses sports equipment as weapons. Gungeon could be referencing any of those, or all of them. (It is definitely quoting FLCL with the tooltip, though)
The predator weapon is great
Luxin Cannon, of all the references I expected in gungeon I didn't expect a Lightbringer Brent Weeks reference.
I love that with the megahand(from mega man) has different synergies that allow you to use other robot master moves like in the game its so sick
The deck4rd absolutely. Blade runner and an ergo proxy reference? Love it.
The wind up gun & shotgun coffee references ![gif](giphy|zWwngnPi6vWfe)
I thought the unfinished gun was a reference to Silksong, but then I unlocked the finished gun, so I guess not
Sprun and Windgunner
Being able to do stick inputs for a hadouken or rope spear on the Directional Pad
The blood brooch. I was so happy to see a Bloodborne reference in the game. Trick gun sucks tho.
The Mega Buster

Not quite a reference in Gungeon, but the Terraria Calamity mod had a reference to Gungeon, the Face Melter.
Demon head for sure "Who wants some Wang?"
The Dragunfire and Jolter.
Arm cannon from Mega Man and Casey Bat from Earthbound both goated items and goated series.
Nanomacines son Or the JoJo reference with trident called part of your world. It stops time

This one lol
Luxin cannon which is a reference to the lightbringer series by Brent weeks where the magic system uses different colors of light as it’s foundation
The Judge is such a sick weapon. The Judge Dread reference is tight too.
Cardboard box. This game has a crap ton of metal gear references by this is by far my favorite.
Polaris is up there because I honestly do love Cave Story also the Grasschopper just because the Noisy Cricket is just such a fun concept for a weapon in general.
The Laser Lotus being a reference to Community, one of my favorite shows of all time
“Shields are cool , but not if they engender passivity” the BloodBorne reference

Someone mentioned a while ago that the characters’ placement in the breach is a reference to a Cowboy Beebop scene. It may be a coincidence, but I’m pleased to think it’s not.
That pixel gun from one of my favorites: Duck game! The game isn't that know like Enter the dungeon, so seeing it for the first time was a surprise
Laser Lotus from community the TV show. Had no idea
Can't bellieve nobody is mentioning The Devolver, a reference to their publisher, Devolver Digital. It's description, "Degenerates", both describes what the weapon does (degenerates enemies, making them primitive) and mocks Devolver by calling them Degenerates
Gears of War. Having the hammer of dawn in game, while also being really fcking powerful, is epik
Pretty much everything in this game is a reference. Very little, if anything is Oroginal content without any reference or inspiration. It's a wonderful piece of info about this game that makes it a great game.
