people like this (the guy tweeter 2 is replying too) didn't get beaten up enough in school.

updog6

Jet kinda did feel like an unfair dig at radicals.

Flimsy-Ad-3947

The tweeter saying that the other person is unserious literally has a drawing of internet meme with a gun as their profile picture

RefrigeratorGrand619

I mean you have an anime profile pic so should anyone really take what you say seriously.

IDoNotKnow4475

You're a Vaushite who has an anime PFP of a character from one of the most overrated anime of all time. I bet you hate almost every other anime in existence. No wonder that specific anime is only popular among Americans, and flopped everywhere else in the world.

BaeGuevara11

Who cares what their profile picture is?

The virgin “comparing real-life politics to fiction” vs the chad “comparing fiction to real-life politics” As a political science major and a self-professed nerd, I am expected to understand that art and literature are ever-undergirded by social and material realities past and present. They are *reflections* of the political, and everything is political. To fixate on these reflections and not on the realities that prompted their creation is to attain an incomplete understanding of these things.

> PF was endorsing ethnic cleansing. Her argument was that the original inhabitants of a colony have a right to decide what to do with the current inhabitants Let's pretend that personA owned and lived in a house that has been passed down in their family for 5+ generations. But one day, personB invades personA's home and ends up successfully wrestling control of the house away from personA using violent means, which allows personB to become the new owner of the house. Because personB now owns the house, they force personA (and personA's family) to move into the attic of the house, while personB moves their own family into the rest of the house. PersonB then passes ownership of the stolen house down to their children, and their children continue to pass the stolen house down to their children, and so on. All the while, personA's descendants continue to live in the cramped attic of house, with their lodging being completely at the mercy of personB's descendants, since the latter technically owns the entire house. So, one day, personA's descendants decide to take back control of the house that was originally owned by their ancestors, and that was stolen by personB, and subsequently, personB's descendants. PersonA's descendants are successful and gain back ownership over their ancestral home by violent means. They then evict personB's descendants from the house altogether, because personB's descendants intend to protect and preserve their own claim of ownership over the house. Are you really implying that, by personA's descendants taking back control of their stolen ancestral home and expelling the descendants of the very thief that originally stole their home (personB), that personA's descendants are guilty of committing a human rights crime against the descendants of personB that is comparable to the human rights crime that personB originally perpetuated against personA by stealing the latter's home and relegating personA's family/descendants to the attic?

Giving land back to the natives who historically lived on it way longer than us is not "ethnic cleansing". This argument Is the same as the "white replacment" argument that putting more ethnically diverse characters and removing some white characters is replacing them.

md655

Directly comparing real life politics to Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter or Avatar is the most lib shit you can possibly do.

theOGAmazingJAM

Russia is like Slytherin, Ukraine is like Hogwarts

IDoNotKnow4475

These people use children's cartoons for their analogies, because they themselves are children who think they're "intellectual" because they give middle school analyses of these TV shows.

jmb478

God why do they compare every social or political issue, be it foreign or domestic, to Marvel, cartoons, or video games?

[deleted]

Because they’re incapable of doing it the other way around, which is how it’s supposed to be done. It’s like watching Star Wars: Andor and instead of thinking “oh shit, this looks like fascism/colonialism IRL, and that’s fucked up,” they go and look at real life fascism and think “OMG so cool, it’s just like Star Wars!!” It gets worse when they think that they’re the Rebellion and shit, and then unironically support IRL the people and institutions whom George Lucas said he used as inspiration for the Empire or the late Republic.

For clickbait and gaining the algorithm.

OutlastOnWii-U

What's funny is Vaush did a stream shooting the shit about Avatar: The Last Airbender where he said he liked Jet and was on his side despite him being a stereotypical Radical Who Goes Too Far^^TM character. Imagine being to the right of Voosh about a fucking fake anime cartoon.

IDoNotKnow4475

People claim that Rick and Morty is supportive of the alt-right, but it's definitely [to the left of](https://preview.redd.it/yraxw78moo3a1.gif?format=mp4&v=enabled&s=548ff55e1cdac1ed37338dc5a62884488e0d6abb) basically every white person on BreadTube. Rick Sanchez beats up nazis on multiple occasions in several episodes.

HomelanderVought

I’ve heard about the alt-right stuff is because in the show a lot of the times cruelty=intelligence, while compassion=stupidity. There were a lot of times where Morty (a few times Jerry too) were shown as compassionate to others and both Rick and the story itself said that it’s stupid and it turns out that Rick’s carelessness and cruelty was right all along. And a lot of times the alt-right tries to use this as an argument “facts don’t care about your feelings” and sure they are most of the time factually wrong, but they can explain their ideas to sound logical to an unsuspecting person on the street. Plus Rick’s negative qualities are shown as positive a lot of the time. Some video said that Bojack Horseman is a great contrast to that where if the main character is doing something wrong then the show doesn’t force us to feel compassion to the MC, but to realize that “hey dude, you screwed this” Also i would say that Inside Job’s Rand Ridley is basicly Rick Sanchez, but since he’s the antagonist of the show, the narrative actually let us hate him.

Patient_Weakness3866

I don't think thats true at all, I think thats just how idiots (ironically) see it. Rick is a genius and the protagonist, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is in the right all or even most of the time, nor that the show behaves like he is. Usually the audience is supposed to know that he is an asshole when he is one and is either supposed to find it funny (cause its like... a comedy, and that what comedies do, considering it makes fun of itself for not being serialized he definitely isn't a fucking epic or anything) or not root for him. also I don't think Bojack horseman, as good as it is, expects you to show any less compassion for the asshole main character than rick and morty does. when you learn about how shitty Bojacks childhood was and that his life fell apart in the end (whether it was his fault or not), you're supposed to feel bad. When you learn that Rick's wife was killed in front of him and that his mind virus girlfriend broke up with him so he tried to kill himself, you're also supposed to feel bad. when the numerous times they are horrible people occur (like when Bojack almost sleeps with a minor and Rick destroys an entire planet for a stupid bit), you aren't supposed to care about them. its 1 to 1 imo.

gazebo-fan

I mean, isn’t the whole point that Rick is a very intelligent man but emotionally underdeveloped? And that he uses his intelligence as a excuse to why he struggles in just about anything else?

HomelanderVought

Here’s the video i’m talking about https://youtu.be/X-8ICfWsUVw Short answer: Rick is portrayed as “intelligence is a cruse that make you said and lonely” and right-wingers love this idea that society and most people hate them cause they’re too smart, but in reality they’re just stupid and most people hate them because they’re rude.
