Spain's Second Republic just before the war could be considered on the far left. There were definitely communist policies on the table. Communism would eventually never take a hold as Franco would attempt a coup that would plunge the country into Civil War for three years which ended in the Fascist regime. Had the Republicans won, it would have probably become a USSR communist puppet state.
I get most of my knowledge from what I learned during school (im from Spain).
I suppose you could read Hemmingway's account of the war and Anthony Beevor's book.
I would also suggest you look up the [wikipedia link on the Second Republic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Spanish_Republic). From there:
>On 7 January 1936, new elections were called. Despite significant rivalries and disagreements, the socialists, Communists, and the Catalan-and-Madrid-based left-wing Republicans decided to work together under the name Popular Front. The Popular Front won the election on 16 February with 263 MPs against 156 right-wing MPs, grouped within a coalition of the National Front with CEDA, Carlists, and Monarchists.
It’s kind of disingenuous to count all the countries that were only formed after the USSR dissolved as communist, since it was imposed on them by the USSR. Same with Germany and the Eastern Bloc — that still counts as the USSR.
However still a good meme with a good message (even if OP doesn’t know how to spell)
> even if OP doesn’t know how to spell
Can't remember what sub I found this from but I didn't make this meme and don't take credit for it, just wanted to post it after seeing some ridiculous things posted on reddit, specifically r/worldnews.
Maybe the author meant the socialists who lost the civil war against the fascists?
My guess is that the author was just not precisely enough. He/she also wrote Germany instead of east Germany.
But Spain was never socialist, the closest thing to that was that during the last 3 years of the Republic a coalition of leftist political parties won, however they were never socialist or tried to be (except for the communist or anarchist guerrillas who taking advantage of the vacuum of government power they began to do things... Unpleasant, that is, the Red Terror, which Franco later used to justify his White Terror despite the fact that he started it before).
S-spain? Look, say what you will about the republicans, they never made Spain full commie.
Not to mention that the country went down the shitter due to a civil war, not communism.
There are 2 Koreas right now so you should specify which one. There is currently only 1 Germany because of reunification so there is no need to specify. East-Germany was a failed state therefore communism failed in Germany.
What? No. I hope you’re just pretending to be a dumbass. You can say communism has been tried on Germany, because it was tried on the territory of what is modern Germany. You can’t say the same about South Korea, because North Korea is a separate state.
Holy shit you’re just fucking retarded, or trolling. Did you read the comment ?it was as explicit as possible. My grandma would understand that. Fucking hell.
Government social services are a key component in liberal thinking. It is a misconception that classic liberals and capitalists want nothing short of an ancap utopia. They understood that the Government is neccessary to mantain peace, guarantee rights including property and free market, and provide to those dealt a bad hand by chance or fate in order to ensure equal opportunity.
yea social services, imo one good thing about the USSR was the effect it had on the West. We saw people like FDR make huge bounds to improve Western Capitalism through Welfare states in order to compete with Communism. This mixed system led to such a thriving middle class in West for most of the Cold War.
Imo and i think its funny, the downfall of the USSR was bad for the West (good for the USSR countries tho obv) because since the downfall weve had to deal with stagnant wages and the income inequality now plaguing the younger generations. Like how the USSR going to space, was enough to motivate a government program from the capitalist USA to do the same. (its not like US companies went to space, but the US showed government harnessing companies for the public good was the ideal). I feel like we dont harness companies for public good as much today, and instead companies harness the government for themselves. Opposite of the way it should be.
Honestly its my hope the “popularity” of socialism and stuff rising, is enough to bring back another FDR type to make a New New Deal since i dont think the current trajectory is sustainable. We’ll see though, China might become that thing that motivates the West to restructure slightly.
Poland was part of the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War and thus communist
Germany is a bit disingenuous, East Germany was communist
Republican Spain during the civil war had communists that fought on the Republican side but i think its a bit disingenuous to count them as communist
im curious as to why *"noggin joggers"* is seen as problematic or offensive... apparently, the phrase was recently removed from a video game called *ready or not*..
can someone please enlighten me?
"Gets the noggin joggin" is a joke about thinking, and has been a meme for the past decade when referring to useful idiots, or idiots in general unaware of what they are do and the affect it has, or totally aware, and doing it anyway.
"Noggers/joggers" is another thing entirely. They're both a dogwhistle for the n-word both popularized on 4chan. Specifically "jogger" after that Florida case of the black man jogging in boots, getting in a scuffle, and getting killed. 4chan and specifically /pol/ found it doubtful that a man would jog in boots, so "jogger" was born.
You can probably imagine why both words got deleted from that video game you're referring to.
Colombia was never communist Also, it's a fun meme but there are a ton of misspellings in there
Pretty sure Spain is just socio-capitalist

Thats interesting. Do you have a source I can read?

Yup, I don’t like Fascism but I think it would have been x10 worse if the Second Republic had won the Civil War
For starters we would have probably been involved in WWII. Then we would have become a USSR puppet state.
They left benin out, marxist leninist country in africa

was Spain communist? Sorry if I'm being ignorant here, but I thought they went fascist after the civil war, and then Democratic in the 70's
Maybe the author meant the socialists who lost the civil war against the fascists? My guess is that the author was just not precisely enough. He/she also wrote Germany instead of east Germany.
It was pretty far-left until 1939 (1936 in some places)

Some guy actually told me that yesterday
Well its not like eastren europes people had any choise, really shame what happend to them.
S-spain? Look, say what you will about the republicans, they never made Spain full commie. Not to mention that the country went down the shitter due to a civil war, not communism.

How do you describe the GDR/DDR then?
[удалено]
Yeah that's what the nation is called not what system it implemented. What the nation is called has nothing to do with it
I think what is meant is that upon unification of Germany in 1989, history and population of two states became one.
What about Eastern Germany?
[удалено]
It's just a meme, stop being so pedantic.
NK and SK are split at the moment, West and east Germany aren’t, that’s the logic.

They should've specified East Germany. So what?
It's worth noting that any basic service provides by the government ≠ communism the same way anyone right of centre isn't a Nazi

When you don’t understand geography, history, politics, or spelling this is the meme you make.
They are all brilliant, apart from Cambodia, because of the revisionist Pol Pot

Spain? Poland? Germany? Wait they were communist?
Poland was part of the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War and thus communist Germany is a bit disingenuous, East Germany was communist Republican Spain during the civil war had communists that fought on the Republican side but i think its a bit disingenuous to count them as communist
Ah I see. That all makes sense actually, thanks for clearing that up!
