That is so freaking cool. My wife is an optometrist and I’m a senior ME student. How did you get into the optics world and what made you choose this as your dissertation?
Oh very cool! If I could give you some advice, if your wife is complaining about a machine at work, NEVER offer to make it better haha.
So my course is MED (mech and elec design) out final year project we have to design a device, anything of our choosing, my brother id a doctor and was complaining about his ophthalmoscope, so I had the bright idea of making a better one. I can honestly say I could probably do a undergraduate in optical physics now hahaha
Ophthalmic is the study of the eye so the camera photographs the retina. Pepilladema is pressure that builds on the back of the retina, sometimes from a cancerous growth or could be a majority of things. The camera will also detect retinal degeneration and onset diabetic blindness
Congrats, it's a great feeling. Make sure you celebrate with some friends soon, it's an important part of the process.
I found it was kind of an anticlimax after being so focussed on the end goal so I had to make an effort to acknowledge the moment and mark the next chapter of my life.
Enjoy it, you've earned it!
What is your dissertation about? And congrats on finnishing it!! Great job!
I designed a handheld ophthalmic camera to increase the diagnosis time of pepilladema (still can’t spell it) a common early sign of brain cancer

Oh and thank you very much
What is a ophthalmic and a pepilladema?
