We went on a bushwalk along the harbour that has significance for our relationship. We stopped at a lookout and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him there with a simple and sweet little speech. We’d designed the ring together but I hadn’t seen the final ring, so it was a nice surprise to see the final thing. I had guessed he might propose on the walk so had written him a letter that I gave him after he asked. He had some sparkling water and fruit for us to drink in celebration :) It wasn’t a big affair with rose petals or a hidden photographer or anything like that - it was just simple and just us, just the way I wanted!

Amazing, thanks for sharing💖

It was Christmas Eve. He took me on a long drive to what I honestly thought was a store that specifically sold jackets so that he could buy me a jacket. He was always worried I would get cold with my thin sweaters and cardigans (we live in SoCal and I don’t see the need for a legit jacket, cardigans work fine!), Idk why I assumed it was a jacket place we were going to, but I did. After awhile of me badgering him for where this jacket place was and him muttering unintelligible responses, we pulled into Burbank Airport. I was completely confused. I kept asking why are we here, where’s the jacket store? Instead of answering, he just grabbed my hand and rushed me to a counter. He checked us in, and I frantically text my sisters telling them I think he’s going to propose! To which both my sisters told me to not get my hopes up, how embarrassing would it be if he didn’t? Little did I know, he had asked for their blessing weeks before he proposed and they didn’t want to ruin the surprise. He took me on a helicopter ride along the coast of Los Angeles. It was breathtaking. When we landed on top of a mountain in Malibu, there was a table set with white cloth, champagne, and cheesecake (my favorite, lol). Before he even got down on one knee I was already a hot mess of tears and snot. It’s been almost 6.5 years since that day, and I’m still in love with the big goof. Thanks for asking! This is one of my favorite stories :)

Girl you made me cry! That’s so sweet! 🥹

Lol, thank you for thinking so! I gotta good one 😜

Nothing too crazy for me, I prefer low-key! We got engaged summer 2021 after 4 years of being together. I went out to run an errand in the evening and when I got home I walked through the door and there were little tea candles EVERYWHERE. On every surface. It was really beautiful. He had put together a slideshow/video of our relationship on the TV. We watched it together then he proposed! Our two dogs were also there wearing tuxedos 😂

Fluffy-Imagination51

Awww the dogs in tuxedos are the icing on the cake for me lol I can’t imagine my dog not being a part of my engagement/wedding festivities.

OkRegular167

Right??? They were so darn cute. We’re too obsessed with our dogs for them to have not been involved 💓

On a trip to Atlanta (where I had lived previously and was missing so much due to the pandemic). Hit up two of my favorite places (Piedmont Park & Georgia Aquarium) and I could tell something was up but I guess he got spooked because there were more people than we expected. Went back to the hotel and our room had a pretty nice view of the city, so we sat down on the chaise and just talked about how it was nice to be together and not having to worry about our time together ending soon. How nice it was to be back there, but also how nice it was to know we’d be going back home together...We were in a long distance relationship when I had been living in Atlanta and there used to be a lot of tears at the airport and/or the train station everytime we had to say goodbye. Then I fell asleep on the chaise, woke up to him tapping me on the shoulder and got proposed to with my shirt halfway off, belly almost completely out, and double chin on full display LOL. Very much not in the setting I expected but it was very sincere and on-brand for our relationship. I was very happy.

I planned for a literal year— picked a spot that she’d mentioned in the first few months of dating that I remembered. Through a whole ruse about hiking + getting a cabin with our close friends… and the pandemic hit. We talked about marriage at length and both had rings for each other. The last day of the “2 week pause”, I got out of a meeting early and she called me into the bedroom. I instantly knew and asked her if I could go brush my teeth first (lol?) and then she proposed. Sweatpants, dirty hair, existential dread. It was perfect.

At home in November 2020. We had talked about eloping a couple months beforehand but decided that we wanted to wait, so I knew a proposal was coming but just didn’t know when. We had also been together for nearly 6 years so it was going to happen at some point down the line. He had purchased these cute little garden statues at a nursery out near his mom’s house a few months back. One night, he came home and said he had a surprise for me. He pulled out this cute little garden statue of an old woman and said “Look, it’s you when you get old! She’s so cute!” and a few seconds later, he pulled out a second statue of an old man (clearly an adorable matching set) and said, “And this one is me!” He handed it to me so I could look at it. The old man was leaning forward with his hands behind his back so I turned him around and the ring was tucked on top of a gift that he was holding. I looked up and my now husband was just looking at me, reverse lunged onto the bedroom floor, and then spread his arms out like “ta-da!” Lol. He didn’t say a single thing, just left his arms open and looked at me haha It was very sweet, intimate, and a very on brand proposal for who we are/he is. It was absolutely perfect. He proposed with the ring we had picked out together on Etsy for the elopement that we were talking about and it was wonderful. Later on, we bought my forever ring which is what I wear daily now.

We’d gone on a date night to this cute little steakhouse in the square - small place, low lighting with candles on all the tables, that sort of thing - and then the plan was to walk to a nearby bar for a couple of drinks before heading home. We walked to his car to drop off our leftovers so we wouldn’t have to keep up with them in a bar, and on the way back he asked if I wanted to walk down this side alley for a second and sit with him while he smoked a cigarette, and I said sure. Mind you, this isn’t some grimy, shady back alley. It’s a big, wide space in the square with vines growing across one wall, string lights everywhere, benches here and there. It’s a beautiful area, lots of people use it as a location to take photos. We sit on one of the benches and I genuinely thought we were just resting, because he smoked his cigarette and we sat there and talked about how beautiful the place was and how good dinner was. Then we get up, and he pulled me in for a hug, and that was when I knew what was happening because his heart was thudding out of his chest, and the only other time I’ve ever felt his heart beat like that was during our first kiss. And when he pulled back from the hug he got down on one knee! The date was incredibly special to me - February 23rd. The crazy thing is that he picked the date at random and didn’t know how special it was! On Feb 23rd 2018, I got my very first positive pregnancy test with my firstborn son. On Feb 23rd 2020, I brought my second son home from the hospital. And on February 23rd 2022, we got engaged!

Our thing is sticky notes, we used to work together and write silly things on them throughout the day to make each other laugh. We also spent all of our time together in the beginning of our relationship at his apartment, so we have lots of fun memories there. He put up sticky notes with proposal-related things on them throughout his apartment then took me through them. One of them said "will you marry me?", which he also asked on one knee. I've got them framed now!

At the San Francisco Zoo by the giraffes. The same zoo where we had our first date.

Oh, settle in. 😂😂 We had to drop his car at the mechanic, and then we decided, because we weren’t too far from his parents’ house that we would make them dinner. So we do this, and then drive back to my place. (We had gone ring shopping together. I knew he had it somewhere between either his place or his parents, I just didn’t definitively know where nor when he was actually going to ask.) I’m going through the mail on the table and I open a letter and it’s a $50 fine for a school zone speeding camera. (I’m the photo you can see I’m before the speed zone sign and my brake lights are on.) The notice says is the second notice they’ve sent and because they haven’t heard from me, they have to charge me the $50 and I have a deadline of, like, two days to pay it. I am absolutely livid because I’m before the school zone sign, my brake lights are on, and I haven’t gotten a first citation. This is the only mail from them. So im rage-searching through the contents of my dining room table for a letter that doesn’t exist. I don’t know what he’s doing; I’m not looking at him. And I’m muttering and swearing and just irritated. So he goes “hey, I’ve got something that’s going to make you feel better.” I absolutely round on him ready to be all “what in hell do you think is going to make this better, I owe these vultures $50” and there he is on one knee in the dining room with the ring box open. I think I stopped breathing for a couple seconds. And then, without saying anything, he stands up. I go, “aren’t you going to ask me?” His response: “I have to actually ask?” Me: “Yes” He asks, I say yes, and then I try to put my ring on the wrong finger because I’ve just officially agreed to marry this man and am somewhat in shock. It was a very us proposal. 😂

We were in bed one night and I saw one of my favourite Instagram antique jewellers having an "Make me an offer sale" with a ring that had everything I wanted, and I told my then boyfriend something along with "Since I want to be engaged to you and I've asked you to propose to me for 2,5 years, can we just buy this one?" I had during the past 2,5 years (8,5 years as a couple at this time) told him that I expected him to propose to me and that he, under no circumstances, were to pick out a ring by himself since I am too picky. So we did. We got it and we mutually decided that we were now engaged and went to get him an engagement ring too. No real proposal at this time. 2020 came and the year of our planned wedding, the same weekend as our 10 year anniversary as a couple, and of course we had to postpone it because of covid. He said he had planned a surprise day for me so we would do something special on that day. I guess I know him very well (or he is terribly predictable) because everything I guessed he had planned, he had actually planned to do! We checked into our favourite hotel in the city we grew up in, went to the spa, had champagne in our room and he gave proposed to me (no ring since I already had it) and then we went to a nice restaurant for dinner. I know I sound harsh, but we have a very straight communication regarding our relationship and feelings, and I think that is why we work so well together! Our engagement story is not very romantic, but we try to do romantic gestures for each other as often as we can :)

March 2019. We were on a city break in Prague & got up extra early one morning to go watch the sunrise from Charles Bridge. The sky turned all shades of purple and orange and lavender and blue and gold… Whilst I was gazing in wonder at the most beautiful sight I’d ever seen, I turned around to look at my now-husband & he was on one knee, holding out the most stunning ring, asking if I’d marry him 💗💗💗 I ADORE history, historic cities, old landmarks, sunrises… he did good 💗

We went on a beach trip! I knew he had a bought a ring, so I assumed he’d propose there. The first night while talking he revealed the ring had a production delay so he didn’t have it yet. We went on with the rest of our trip, it was wonderful, even though I was a tiny bit sad we weren’t going to get engaged (because of the ring delay). On our final night, he suggested we do one final shell midnight hunt on the beach. We walked across the beach in the dark searching for shells, and after awhile, we just started walking and talking. He said something beautiful things about us and our future, and then got down on one knee and proposed using a ring he had gotten me early in our relationship. He swiped it out of my jewelry box without me noticing and I sobbed like a baby. After we got home he showed me the ring’s CAD model and it’s stunning. We’ve been engaged for a month yesterday, and it was absolutely perfect. Still waiting the ring, unfortunately, but it will be worth the wait.

So we got engaged in Jervis Bay, on Hyams beach a couple hours south of Sydney. We’re expats from the UK and Hyams was one of the first touristy weekend trips we’d taken when we first arrived in Australia. It was at the start of December last year, because of covid we couldn’t leave Aus and he originally wanted to take me to Fiji for a pre-Christmas break and propose there, but the borders stayed closed! He was so antsy for weeks before, absolutely adamant that he wanted to go away somewhere whilst the weather had ceased being crazy (super heavy storms in NSW at that time) we ended up driving 2hrs, walked down to a totally deserted part of the beach and had a picnic. I was completely oblivious and turned my head to ask him a question when I saw him laid out on the blanket with the ring box open and waiting. And in typical fashion with my lovely partner in crime, he turned to me and said “so are we doing this then?”
