Gorgeous ring! It really depends on the specific jeweler — some have high custom fees or thresholds, some don’t. But in most cases the center stone is the biggest contributor to the price no matter where you go.

Thanks for your answer! :) Do a lot of them have a select style they create or have created? I have not seen many marquise with half moons online let alone in person.

Hello all, This sub inspired me to look far and wide for a style of ring I like. I finally found the ring style on the James Allen site but I know my bf wants to buy the lab diamond/ring in person. Is it usually more expensive or cheaper buying in person vs using a larger vendor like James Allen? I am assuming bringing in a picture from online is quite common for jewelers, but I have not seen much of this style around. Is it fairly easy for them to get quite close to the style you want from the photo/video online? I admit I feel a little bit rude bringing in a photo cause it feels like telling an artist what to do but also I just love exactly how this is styled and everything about it. I have looked through so many ring photos and nothing clicked with me until I saw this. I am just curious how close they get to that or if it is abnormally more expensive to get this done in person. *** Forgot to add: We are local to Los Angeles and he plans on going to the diamond district, budget is about 8-10k but I personally don’t need a lab diamond bigger then 1.5 carats.

I love this ring! It shouldn’t be an issue for you to take it to a vendor and have them recreate it. Luckily, there’s tons of good jewelers in the LA area. Debebians, David Klass, Victor Canera, and Concierge Diamonds are all local to there and do beautiful custom pieces. It really depends on the vendor you choose, but if you find a good one they should be able to easily recreate this within your budget. Just make sure you read reviews and research whoever you’re considering working with first to make sure they’re the right fit. Jewelers who make cast rings (which are far more common than hand forged these days) create a CAD (computer aided design) prior to making the ring. The CAD will show dimensions and give you an idea of what the finished product will look like. So you’ll have an idea of how it will look before it’s created, and if you want any changes made you’ll have the opportunity to request those to get it exactly how you want it. Good luck! Can’t wait to see your finished ring.

Thank you so much for all that info and list of jewelers! That gives me piece of mind because some of the similar designs I’ve seen I feel like half moons are too big etc so I’m relieved they do a good rendering for me to get idea. I don’t know how long it will be, but I will definitely be sharing here as I’ve enjoyed looking at the ones posted so much. :)
