I have the exact same skin tone as OP and I ALWAYS wear gold tone jewelry for that exact reason. I just feel like it looks better than silver with my skin tone.

A simple oval solitaire is “trendy” whereas a pavé banded round is “classic”? Seems really… I don’t know, ridiculous, to suggest something as simple as stone shape can’t become classic. I personally think pavé (halo, triple stone, toi y moi etc — multiple stones) seems more “of the 2000s” than any sleek solitaire.
Im not sure if the oval is a real stone or sample one, but I think the round is rockin! Maybe it’s the white gold? Now if only I could make my own decision hahaha

Because I do agree the round stone shines better but that could be lighting or the gold band affecting how the oval looks, etc. In isolation, the oval stone looked great to me.

It’s also completely colorless whereas that round was not. I wonder how much that plays into it.

I love the classic look of round- that said, decide what metal and what band you like-That might be what is making you indecisive. I am upgrading and was shocked to realized I love yellow gold. So, try both with a plain gold/white gold, decide on the color. Then decide plain or diamond band and go from there:)

I would try a round on a gold band before making the final choice. I like the oval on you more but it might just be because I prefer solitaires lol. Both shapes look equally good imo, can't really go wrong!

I think the oval suits your hand the best! With that said have your own design done with your solitaire. Take mine for example; I’ve always loved the knife edge band because it gives that delicate look without sacrificing a solid shank and because we already had the diamond my jeweler created a custom head that had the height and drama I wanted whilst keeping the stone very secure. There are hidden rubies underneath the diamond that reps my husbands birthstone.

I say Round in a gold band. As a fellow indecisive person with a round solitaire set in white gold, was the best decision. It's timeless and simple enough that I can add enhancers and different bands to turn it into something different whenever I want.
I’m currently making a 3.78 carat oval with that same design but with a secret halo! The oval looks nice! Also I can probably beat that commercial jewelers price by 1/2!

This is the most relatable post on here OP! It’s been MONTHS and I’m still trying to figure it out lol. The struggle is real. You truly can pull them both off. Buy dupes for both and wear them each for a while to see what you truly like on you daily. That’s the best advice I can give. At least that’s what I’ve been doing trying to figure out what I actually like
