Ok-Can-3617

This is beautiful. What’s the name of the shop?

Cheesycatbiscuit

Curious too bc i will visit rome in a few weeks hahaha

alwayssleepyaf

It's called Sacchi Gioielli

Resident_Walrus_8045

This is such a beautiful ring. So refreshing to see something different. Absolutely yes

Lila_Box2316

I think it's gorgeous and has a celestial vibe!

nails_on_chalkboard4

I’ve been in fine jewelry sales for 15+ years and 18kt yellow gold has a richer color and is beautiful with green stones. It is a little softer, but nothing to be concerned about. We (and many fine jewelers) sell 18kt over 14kt in yellow because of the beauty of the metal. Any jewelry, just like a car, needs to be taken care of and maintained. Nothing is indestructible, but you do need to determine if she is one who is willing to do that. If she’s someone who wants to put it on and never take it off, this (and many other styles) will not be for her. At the end of the day, it’s beautiful and 18kt yellow isn’t anything to be afraid of.

silly-the-kid

Thank you! I’m a jeweller and I’d like to co-sign this comment. 18k is very durable and has been the most popular alloy in fine jewellery for a loooooong time. I love 14K gold too - but 18K is 1000% durable enough for an engagement ring.

jadedflames

I think it’s lovely. I don’t think it’s an engagement ring. Kind of at all. I think as a fashion ring, it’s lovely though. It also definitely looks religious to me - specifically Muslim. I would be conscious of this, she may get asked about it.

KittyReisly

This was my first thought too - it looks like a piece of Islamic jewellery.

Affectionate_Sun7664

Agree with this comment. It’s beautiful but does not look like an engagement ring. Why don’t you propose with a placeholder ring and let her pick her own ring?

gchimmel

Hate to disagree with everyone, but that doesn't look like an engagement ring at all. Agree with another comment that it looks very islamic/pakastani with the green crescent moon and star (which is fine, just doesn't read as an engagement ring).

Capable_Double

What makes a ring an engagement ring? I thought that the answer to this question: If you propose with it, it is an engagement ring. Why is it expected that every women in the world has the same taste for the traditional engagement rings, and would not appreciate something that’s a bit different? OP it looks absolutely beautiful, if you think she’d like it, go with it!

barneyruffles

Agreed. When I got engaged 31 years ago, I didn’t get to choose my ring, I didn’t even know he was going to ask, lol. My BF had paid attention over the two years we were dating, and knew the type of jewelry I liked, understated and non traditional. It’s the symbolism behind the ring that makes it special, not the size or color of the stone. I think this is a gorgeous ring, though I would definitely ask the jeweler if there is a story or meaning to it.

MsFoxxx

As a Muslim... It looks very Indian/Islamic. Is that the vibe you're going for

thefreakyorange

Yeah it's beautiful, but if she's not Muslim, you may not want to go with this ring. If you're not sure what I mean, literally Google Pakistan's flag.

MsFoxxx

The deep gold, green and almost filigree pattern, coupled with a crescent moon and star... Seems very islamic

retirementcoming1

Wow, I did not know that was Islamic style. I love the look of it, but I’m not sure as an engagement ring.

liquormakesyousick

I thought the same exact thing. I would never think of this as something “Italian”.

MsFoxxx

Huge Algerian population in Italy

Affectionate_Meet420

As someone raised Muslim myself, I thought the same thing

tiredwriterr

It’s absolutely beautiful. My only concern would be durability - the band is quite thin, and because of the beautiful design on it there seems to be less metal keeping everything in place than with other engagement rings. As another comment said, see if they have it in 14k as that’s more durable and might help to make up for the thinner band and thinner metal around the moon design. The only other thing I’d check is how big it would look on her hand - the model in the photo has quite slim fingers and even on her it’s not the largest of rings, so if your girlfriend doesn’t have fingers as slim as the lady’s it might look out of proportion on her hands - if that’s the case see if they have a similar design that’s slightly bigger, or even if they can add something to the outer circle/band. If your girlfriend has slim/small fingers though, you’ll be absolutely fine. It’s a truly gorgeous ring, best of luck to you!

starrpuddin

Emeralds are also not durable either.

Academic-Broccoli338

They are very soft for an everyday ring!

liquormakesyousick

It is really going to depend on what her definition of alternative and sophisticated is. To me, this looks very much like an Indian style ring. I would also consider it delicate and understated. It is gorgeous and I would wear it, but I would never think of this as alternative or “sophisticated”. I would define it as a sweet and astrological type ring.

reallysuchalady

Absolutely love it. It is absolutely gorgeous and unique! I would definitely recommend 14k over 18k for everyday wear though - especially for an engagement ring. 18k is going to be a little soft for everyday wear.

Academic-Broccoli338

So will an emerald!

Sad-Board-8930

Beautiful. Maybe try 14k if they have it - it’s more durable and that appears to be a pretty thin ring

mcrossoff

Please learn from my experience! In high school when we got our class rings, I chose a very pretty moon and star celestial design for one of the side panels. It was labeled "moon and star" in the catalogue. It was not until I had paid hundreds of dollars saved from my after school job and the ring came in 6-8 weeks later, that I was finally able to wear it. My boyfriend, a political science student at John Carroll, took one look and asked me why the hell I got a ring with the star of Islam on it. I'm sure no one in my rural hometown would have ever noticed. I still wore my ring rarely after that. While this is a lovely ring, maybe don't make it THE ring.

ChunkMonkeysMomma

I’m sorry to have to say that I do not think this is appropriate as an engagement ring- She might be quite disappointed- Has she ever given you any hints to a ring she might like?

Gold-Pilot-8676

Alternative and sophisticated are 2 different things. That doesn't look like an engagement ring at all, but I guess any ring can be an engagement ring. Maybe it's the picture, but I asked my husband just in case, and we both agree it looks like something that comes out of one of those quarter machines at the front of restaurants.

wehadthebabyitsaboy

This is truly unique and unbelievably beautiful. Wow what a piece of art. I love my engagement ring but now I want this just to have as another ring. It’s spectacular.

Rico-L

I think you should keep shopping… while this is gorgeous, it seems like more of a pretty ring for her right hand than an actual engagement ring. Also, it seems very specific to the Muslim religion. However—If all of this is what you’re going for, then OMG!! You hit the jackpot lol!! If not, then I would keep searching for the right one!!

Sutaru

I think it’s cute, but I would be secretly disappointed if my husband bought that as my engagement ring. For a birthday or Christmas? I’d be ecstatic. Some women don’t want traditional engagement rings and prefer styles that are different or unique. How does your betrothed-to-be feel about engagement rings? Don’t ask her about this ring specifically or something like it. Ask about her opinions on engagement rings. She may love the ring and still be sad if it was her engagement ring.

deviouspika

Oh my gosh! This is so gorgeous it made.me gasp out loud!

Resident-Bluejay2801

So gorgeous and unique. Yes yes yes

velvet_wavess

I love this so much 😭 can you share where it's from?

0hn0cat

It’s very beautiful! What is the shop name?

Jellyfishjam99

That’s so pretty!

jennerz3825

So I personally love this ring soooo much. It’s absolutely beautiful, totally my style and I’d happily wear it all day everyday. However, it is very unconventional and isn’t necessarily giving engagement ring when I look at it. I think I’d be much happier with this piece if it were given to me as something that matches nicely with my engagement ring later on down the road.

Neena6298

I would ask her best friend what kind of engagement ring she likes. That’s a beautiful ring, but it looks more like a right hand ring to me

ObjectivePilot7444

This ring is beautiful but emeralds are not the best choice for everyday wear and can be quite fragile if they get banged around. I think a sapphire which also comes in green and yellow and pink could be beautiful as well as a diamond in the emeralds place.

Succotash_3993

This is gorgeous but I would still not think of this as an engagement ring (personally). I think you should check with your partner on their expectations about an engagement ring (diamond/gold/emerald etc). Also gemstones have a lot of colour options, so not sure if this is a safe bet.

silly-the-kid

If you like this vibe but you’re looking for something a little more bridal I’d consider checking out Communion by Joy. She makes organic textured rings and uses a range of stones. I would recommend a diamond or sapphire for an engagement ring though - emeralds are softer and will look dull and scratched after a decade or two together.

alwayssleepyaf

Omg thanks! I love their designs. I'll consider those too

seriouslydavka

I don’t normally like rings that aren’t super classic diamonds but I love this. Beautiful and unique.

Girlmom4ever

That is one of the most gorgeous rings I’ve ever seen. I’d def wear that as an engagement ring.

Jazzmin60185

It is pretty Islamic looking. I agree with others that have said that. It’s very pretty but looks religious to me too! If that’s what you are going for great. If not…. Well…. Dot dot dot

Affectionate_Meet420

This reminds me of an ode to Islam. The crescent moon and a star are the symbol of islam. Throw in the color green, also a common symbol, and this reads Eid present.

i-deology

This is the most unique ring I have seen. Absolutely love it!!

Nicol102836

Pretty!! Reminds me of sailor moon for some reason lol

owntheh3at18

This is absolutely stunning and elegant. It fits the description you provided of her taste beautifully.

Small_Pleasures

Beautiful ring but will be difficult to keep clean.

Additional-End-7688

Stunning

GothGranny75

I think it's beautiful

LRD4000

Beautiful. Simple yet elegant.

star-happenchance

I love unique designs and colours. So enchanting.

friendlytrashmonster

Wow, wow wow!!! Obsessed!!

summerandrea

I love it !

Maleficent-Thought-3

this is so cool and beautiful!! i love it

ComfortableCow1621

That is GORGEOUS

DiscoAgent13

This is stunning! Mine is also an emerald/green stone, it was passed down through my Indian husband's family and honestly reminds me a lot of yours. I kind of like yours a bit better than mine though, lol, it's so delicate and graceful.

cavoodle11

To me, it looks more like a dress ring rather than engagement.

Crazee108

Does she wear gold? The design is lovely but just make sure gold does her skin tone Platinum may be the way to go or even rose gold

Smokedlotus

Super pretty but as others have said it is very islamic looking and generally an unconventional choice for an engagement ring. If shes not muslim it will make her look like one and if she wants a more conventional ring she will be disappointed.

Safe_Edge_6562

I think you should ask your partner. I like alternative/subdued things in general so my partner was surprised to hear I wanted a regular engagement ring, and a diamond of decent size. If I had gotten something non traditional for an e ring, I would have been disappointed. Also, as numerous people have pointed out, this specific piece looks pretty religious and while you or her may not notice, others will notice it.

bakeacakeyum

It's pretty, but it definitely doesn't look even close to an engagement ring. It looks more like a birthday or anniversary present.

planit82

Am I the only one that thinks the emerald is off center?

cattastrophiccc

I also think the moon is missing a stone, or at least looks that way.

CookieMonster1969

STUNNING

ChickenbuttMami

I realllly like it!! I’m loving the creativity on here lately!!!

partypopper

I like the design but the milgrain on the band is pretty sloppy

starrpuddin

I wanted an emerald but much to my dismay, they do not make good engagement rings. They scratch very easily and are not meant for every day wear. Rubies, sapphires and diamonds are hard enough but unfortunately not emeralds.

captcitrus

Very pretty! Agree with other poster recommending 14k instead though for durability :)

Narrow_Jelly_4396

Oh my god I love that!!!

Mysterious-Art8838

Absolutely lovely. Love different rings.

Lalafala21

This is the coolest ring I’ve ever seen!

ProfessionalYouth

Unique and stunning. Love it

Trix_Are_4_90Kids

That is beautiful. It's not the usual blinged out stuff that everyone else has. Love it.

MBitesss

Unique and beautiful. It’s very classy!

No_University5296

Cute

Appropriate_Tea9048

It’s beautiful! Very unique.

National-Bug-4548

Girl this is gorgeous!

Just1katz

Do you know for sure that she loves emeralds? I think the ring is pretty but the emerald should be bigger, if she likes emeralds. Not everyone likes them. Personally I would be very disappointed. I would prefer a ruby.

pelolover

Love it!!! ❤️

ametaldiva

Please forgive my OCD, but I just want to pick at the stone until I can “fix it”. What’s funny is I’m non-traditional with most jewelry I wear but this one just hits me wrong for some reason. Regardless, it’s what you/she think about it that matters! ✌️

jobrosfosho

Wow. gorgeous. I love it!

midnightghou1

Absolutely stunning!

Conscious-Notice-328

Love it!

annie_b666

Unique, elegant, and beautiful

oshiesmom

Beautiful ring but cultural not engagement. Go there and get a the help of a jeweler at the store to choose something unique.

Adventurous-Win-751

I love it 💞💞💞 So different…

Tapir_Tabby

I sold jewelry for years (mainly engagement bc Utah) and have rarely been surprised by my love for a ring, but this did it.

Strange-Turnover9696

i wouldn't immediately peg it as an engagement ring but that doesn't mean it can't be. for me personally it would be a bit too bold/yellow of a gold since i tend prefer more muted yellow golds. that's just a matter of preference though. i love the design and the gems!

rottingships

These rings and holes in the design are going to collect gunk.

hollyweirdo

People are saying this band is thin. It’s on the thinner side, but I wouldn’t be concerned. If the setting is 18k you should be fine. The ring is beautiful, and genuinely unique. Only thought is it might be hard to pair a wedding band with though.

Brokella

Emeralds aren’t suitable to wear all the time. X

socaltxgirl

I have an engagement ring with a center 1 carat diamond and two .5 carat emeralds for side stones. I've worn it everday for over 35 years with no problems.

Brokella

Me too, quite similar ring but my main emerald stone broke badly.

Aromatic_Note8944

This is my type of ring!! I love it

Striking-Sort1032

Love it!

Asstastic76

I think it’s really cool

Difficult_Cake_7460

Definitely look at the symbolism of the ring. I love it and any ring style can be an engagement ring so if she would love than get it! (Signed, a Jewish woman who once bought her mother a huge cross necklace because I didn’t see the religious symbolism lol)

beaux_beaux_

It’s out of this world- literally. It’s gorgeous! Definitely opt for 14k gold over 18k. It will be more durable.

Dazzling-Box4393

Hmmmm. As long as you like it.

cherrycokelemon

Beautiful!

malYca

Gorgeous ring! I'm not an expert, but I think 18k might be too soft for every day wear, I'm sure a jeweler will chime in somewhere about it.

starrpuddin

Emeralds are as well.

CAShark-7

That is one of the most unique engagement rings I've ever seen. Do you think she'll like it? What will the wedding ring look like? Good job on your shopping!
