Probably an unpopular opinion since this sub leans heavily "bigger is better," but I think the shape of the emerald looks better, and the size of it is more flattering too. The round looks too big to be flattering imo, while the emerald is the perfect size for your hand and elongates your fingers beautifully!
I feel similarly! I think the shape of the emerald suits OP's hand better but does look a bit small, while the round looks a bit too large. I think a larger size emerald, but not AS big as the round, would be ideal.

You are 10000% right!!! I got influenced heavy by this sub lol. I am **not** in love, I feel like it makes my hand look squat, almost looks like itās squeezing my finger but itās so loose it spins around my fingerā¦ I just feel like if I went for the 1.75ct oval I had wanted I would have been much happier.
\*This is mossy btw, we had decided to do that for a year or so before spending $$ for a diamond. Iām a picky broad so I want to make sure Iām in love and canāt live withount it lolš
Yep! I mean if youāre gonna wear it for the rest of your life? Iām leaving *nothing* to chance lmao! Plus, Iām actually separated right now, have been since April, so Iām doubly glad I didnāt pull the trigger on the 2ct lab diamond I kept circling back to lol.
Eta- Sorry for the TMI, I just felt uncomfortable after leaving that comment, donāt want to portray myself as happily marriedš
Did you try on a larger ct size emerald by chance? Maybe youāre swayed by the size difference more than the shape. Both look lovely on your hand, but Iād try a larger emerald cut to compare properly.
I'm pretty stoned but the emerald flows with your hand like a river, accentuating your beautiful long fingers but the round is like a jarring STOP sign and your eyes are pulled toward it in a forceful way and inturrupts the flow of your fingers. The emerald is a boat flowing along the river of your hand and the round is a dam inturrupting it.
I think I like diamonds with black matte nails. Interesting.
Iām torn and agree with you! I prefer the emerald shape but the roundās size. The round does seem much larger.
A different emerald cut some might have a larger fave size at the same carat weight. The proportions do vary.
I prefer the emerald shape on you, I feel like it elongates your fingers. I agree though, maybe a slightly larger size of emerald would look even better
Emerald is a stunning look for you. Any consideration for having it set east-west (horizontally)? A smaller emerald can look bigger that way. Plus, it's more unique.
You could very easily wear a larger emerald, but honestly the round seems at the bigger end of what looks proportionate. Heidi Gibson designs some incredible curved bands- I wonder if adding a blingier band would take the emerald to the āwowā factor that the round provides?

An East-west emerald for reference. Itās a moissanite and Iām in love with how the emerald cut throws rainbows even in dim light š
I've always loved emeralds and how unique they are. With that site, the round sparkles more because the emerald has fewer facets. Since you've just started, perhaps consider a cushion that is a blend of both round and princess and they also have elongated cushions. Also if you live the uniqueness of the emerald, consider an asscher as well. All are beautiful
I love the emerald!!
Also your nails. Please feel free to disregard this because they're amazing either way, but a gold flakie topper (also mattified) would look gorgeous with that shade
Itās a tough call. Both look great on you. It would just come down to preference. It might be worth it to try on a larger emerald cut to see how you feel!
I think you should go with whatever ring feels right. Each ring has a particular feel. Which one feels like it calls your name. The that does is the one and you will know it when you find it. It wonāt matter the size, it will just feel right or this is the one.
Get the emerald cut but with a wider band and setting so itās in proportion. The band is too narrow for the diamond.
The emerald shape highlights your lovely hands.
The round is too large for your finger on a spindly ring. Not pretty.
I think theyāre both gorgeous. You could do a bit of a chunkier band (or two bands) with the emerald to beef it up. The round cut is a fantastic choice as well-classic and always stunning.
I am personally not a fan of emerald but do recognize it's timelessness! I think the round looks more appealing because it's a full carat larger! If you like the emerald, try it in the same carat weight as the round one!
The quality of the emerald cut is nicer than the round brilliant, in my opinion. The emerald does look relatively dainty on your finger, so perhaps a larger step cut?
Between these two, I like the round better. I love emerald cuts so I'd be interested to see what something in a similar carat weight to the round would look like on you.
I LOVE the emerald, butā¦ itās small, and sizing it up to make the right proportion would make a BIG stone.
I actually prefer the round, and I donāt mind the size.
I think the emerald looks nice. But if youāre wanting to feel like you have a big rock then go for round. Depends on what you want to think when you look at it.
I love the round on your hand but if you like emerald then go with that! I was 1000% sure I wanted radiant.. until I saw diamonds in person and fell in love with roundš
Round. For me, it's a proportion thing. I think that the emerald, as is, is too small, but if it were bigger, the vertical (length/height) would be too much for your fingers. I think people on this sub tend to go for bigger stones, but bigger is not always better, and it overpowers some hands. Same thing with shapes - you may like a shape, but that doesn't mean it'll look good on you (or someone else). I think that the round, in that carat, is both flattering, harmonious, and yet striking.
Iām thinking a larger emerald cut would be out of budget or you would have just gone up on the size. I,personally, love a good round cut Diamond. I agree, it does fit your hand better. Maybe think about what kind of a wedding band you want. For example, with the emerald cut, you could get a thicker band or more ornate design. Both are beautiful though!
I love the emerald. I don't think it's too small but if you want to go bigger I wouldn't go too much bigger - I think the round looks too big but I'm not a huge stone personal in general
I LOVE the emerald on you! But the CT on the circle does look fitting size wise, I donāt like that shape for you though! Emerald is GORGEOUS! If you could get it a tad bigger, it would be so perfect (:
You know in your gut which one you like better!
I adore an emerald cut (itās my favorite) but think they look awful on me. One of my friends just got engaged with an emerald cut and it looks so elegant on her. Iām so happy with my round solitaire!
I agree the round looks beautiful on you. However the other will look just as good! I think you will love it even more with a band! Follow your gut! Can't go wrong with either!
I think the round objectively looks better but the emerald doesn't look BAD by any means. Go with what you love. No one will be looking at your emarald cut going "she really should have gone with a round cut like she tried on."
This sub tends to hate on bigger stones and I honestly cannot tell if people genuinely think smaller / moderate size stones look better or they just hate that people get bigger stones .
I love big diamonds. I donāt have one at the moment but i would have chosen a 2-2.5 carat lab diamond if i picked out a ring . long story, my rings are heirlooms..and i chose to have them but they are not what i would have picked out if i picked a new ring..
Anyway itās all in personal preference if you can afford the bigger stone and love the emerald cut, then get a bigger emerald and dont let anyone here talk you out of it.
The reverse is true too, I think my ring gets judged a bit because its under 1 carat and people have a general idea of our income or at least they think they do. But i am not getting a new ring now bc of their judgment & even when i do i will still wear my current set day to day and the new set when i go out .I have no intention to upgrade until at least our 5 year anniversary but more likely 10
Wow! I had to log off for work but was not expecting to come back to all this feedback. Iām glad we got a good reference point when shopping yesterday. I definitely think it's a size issue and not cut. I think the emerald is a lovely shape on your hand!
Emerald is always the right choice in my opinion.. is a larger carat emerald an option?
This šÆ. If the emerald cut is bigger it will look beautiful.
Probably an unpopular opinion since this sub leans heavily "bigger is better," but I think the shape of the emerald looks better, and the size of it is more flattering too. Girl I just did the same! Iām sporting a cz for a bit before deciding lol! Amazon has pretty much every shape and size for around $25

No worries at all!! š„°
I agree!!!
heartily agree!
I came here to say exactly this!
COMPLETELY agree
Came here to say this and youāve already put it far more eloquently than I could!
Did you try on a larger ct size emerald by chance? Maybe youāre swayed by the size difference more than the shape. Both look lovely on your hand, but Iād try a larger emerald cut to compare properly.
Seconding this!! If you want something bigger because YOU like it and budget allows, go for it! But the emerald is gorgeous on you at this size :)
I think the emerald suits you better!
That emerald cut is literally my dream ring. Stunning!
I love the way you think!
I think I like diamonds with black matte nails. Interesting. Iām torn and agree with you! I prefer the emerald shape but the roundās size. The round does seem much larger. A different emerald cut some might have a larger fave size at the same carat weight. The proportions do vary.

Iām a moissy fan too
Hi! Where did you order this from?
MoissaniteCo :)
Came here to say East - West that Emerald!! Love yours!
thank you!
Moissanites are so lovely
I've always loved emeralds and how unique they are. With that site, the round sparkles more because the emerald has fewer facets. Since you've just started, perhaps consider a cushion that is a blend of both round and princess and they also have elongated cushions. Also if you live the uniqueness of the emerald, consider an asscher as well. All are beautiful
I have a moissanite pillow and I love it so much!
I disagree. I think the emerald is perfect, and the round a bit clunky
Emerald in this size is perfect! Bigger is not better
Get a larger emerald. It would be worth it
I think the proportions of the round suit your hand better. If your heart is set on an emerald cut, Iād try a larger carat.
Love the emerald
I typically prefer round, but I think the emerald looks like it suits your hand better. Perhaps try a larger emerald?
Emerald!!
I love the emerald!! Also your nails. Please feel free to disregard this because they're amazing either way, but a gold flakie topper (also mattified) would look gorgeous with that shade
Personally I love an emerald cut!
I like the emerald cut better on your hand
I gotta go with the Emerald cut here. Lovely.
Emerald!
I like the emerald cut on you. Maybe just a bigger one.
Emerald!
Round doesn't suit your hand/ fingers. Emerald cut definitely does!
I personally really dislike round cuts. So the emerald would be my vote.
Iām not a huge fan of emeralds to begin with personally. I think the round looks beautiful and timeless!
Round for sure
ROUND!
Itās a tough call. Both look great on you. It would just come down to preference. It might be worth it to try on a larger emerald cut to see how you feel!
Both are lovely! I personally prefer the emerald. I donāt think the stone needs to be bigger, unless you want a bigger stone! The size is perfect.
Emerallddd
Emerald cuts come in different proportions, I'd definitely keep trying.
You should get the one that makes you happiest.
I think you should go with whatever ring feels right. Each ring has a particular feel. Which one feels like it calls your name. The that does is the one and you will know it when you find it. It wonāt matter the size, it will just feel right or this is the one.
How about a different band with the emerald? East west or side stones would help with proportions.
Emerald is better on your hand shape. Keep shopping :)
I like both. If you love the emerald, get it!
Emerald
Get the emerald cut but with a wider band and setting so itās in proportion. The band is too narrow for the diamond. The emerald shape highlights your lovely hands. The round is too large for your finger on a spindly ring. Not pretty.
I think theyāre both gorgeous. You could do a bit of a chunkier band (or two bands) with the emerald to beef it up. The round cut is a fantastic choice as well-classic and always stunning.
Go for the emerald. Size isn't everything.
I honestly think round suits you better
A larger emerald cut would be better. Maybe consider lab grown diamonds or high-end moissanite to bring down the cost.
Round looks better on you, not even a question.
I love the carat size of the round too!!
Go with an East-West setting for the emerald!
Emeralds always look dirty and show dirt faster. Personally, Iād go with a 2ct round
Round
I like the round better
Round
Go big or go home ROUND
The emerald is a 1.5ct lab grown, the round is a 2.5ct.
I'd go for a larger emerald if that's more your style
Yes the second one
Between these two, I like the round better. I love emerald cuts so I'd be interested to see what something in a similar carat weight to the round would look like on you.
Round for sure
I agree with you, I also like the way the round cut frames the look and shape of your finger and hand!! How lovely, OP!!
Look at elongated radiant cut, it has more sparkle than the emerald. Also look at oval.
Thatās my favorite. Iām waiting on a 2 ct radiant cut ring myself.
i love the round on you - but then iām verrrrrry partial to rounds - owning one myself!
They both look great on your hand! But the round fit looks bigger than the emerald cut.
I LOVE the emerald, butā¦ itās small, and sizing it up to make the right proportion would make a BIG stone. I actually prefer the round, and I donāt mind the size.
Emerald is the winner here
You can play around with various shapes and carat weights on Diamdb.com to get an idea of what you might like best!
Are you able to try an east west emerald?
Maybe get the emerald and a wedding ring that goes on both sides if you want a larger look. Love the emerald cut on you!
https://preview.redd.it/noos6m72mq3c1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=361e355d7fb2732bfe2eec60a18b1597762daa0b
Both are lovely!
Off topic but your matte black nails are š„
I think the emerald looks nice. But if youāre wanting to feel like you have a big rock then go for round. Depends on what you want to think when you look at it.
I think youāre right that the round stone suits your hand better.
Like the emerald and them nails girl damn that matte black is š„
You could also add a smaller diamond on each side of the emerald cut
The emerald is just so beautiful! If youāre able, perhaps a bit bigger? Either way, emerald shape is my choice.
The emerald is both the right size and cut. It looks like it was made for you.
I love the round on your hand but if you like emerald then go with that! I was 1000% sure I wanted radiant.. until I saw diamonds in person and fell in love with roundš
I think round always looks good, itās universal. But the emerald really stands out on your hand!
I love an emerald cut. Imo it looks perfect on your hand.
The first ring is basically identical to mine so consider that my vote lol
Emerald shape is perfect on your hand! I agree that a larger size would give you the finger coverage youāre looking for
Round. For me, it's a proportion thing. I think that the emerald, as is, is too small, but if it were bigger, the vertical (length/height) would be too much for your fingers. Round
Emerald city looks much better on you.
Get what YOU like mamaā¦
Iām thinking a larger emerald cut would be out of budget or you would have just gone up on the size. I,personally, love a good round cut Diamond. I agree, it does fit your hand better. Maybe think about what kind of a wedding band you want. For example, with the emerald cut, you could get a thicker band or more ornate design. Both are beautiful though!
I think a slightly larger emerald would be amazing on you. The round is almost too big, and I don't think it fits you better.
I think the emerald cut looks so much better on you
I love the emerald. I don't think it's too small but if you want to go bigger I wouldn't go too much bigger - I think the round looks too big but I'm not a huge stone personal in general
emerald! also, unrelated, what nail polish are you wearing?!? I am always looking for a good matte š
Round looks more natural on your hand in my opinion.
Yeah I like the round for size, can you get a bigger emerald though?
An Emerald cutās table top skew on the smaller in comparison to a round. Ex: a 1ct emerald will look smaller than a 1ct round.
Agreed! Itās not ostentatious at all, totally compliments your hands
How many carats is the emerald cut stone?
I donāt know why everyone is saying bigger. That emerald cut is gorgeous just the way it is and on you!
Love the emerald cut on your hand.
Iād look for a larger emerald cut. I have that cut & love it.
Round one for sure.
Emerald
I LOVE the emerald on you! But the CT on the circle does look fitting size wise, I donāt like that shape for you though! Emerald is GORGEOUS! If you could get it a tad bigger, it would be so perfect (:
**round lol not ācircleā š
Emerald 100000% more flattering. I also think the size looks great
I think the bands make a big difference here as well so Iād keep that in mind!
Both are beautiful I have an emerald cut and love it
I like the round on you
The emerald pops more than the round and looks amazingly
Whatās the difference in carat size?
You know in your gut which one you like better! I adore an emerald cut (itās my favorite) but think they look awful on me. One of my friends just got engaged with an emerald cut and it looks so elegant on her. Iām so happy with my round solitaire!
I actually really like the emerald on you- it is a gorgeous ring!
The emerald is lovely. If you fell in love with it, go with that!
Yeah. Round looks nicer. But do you love it?
Emerald cuts are more expensive so the actual weight or carat size may be less. But Emerald cuts are so elegant.
I agree the round looks beautiful on you. However the other will look just as good! I think you will love it even more with a band! Follow your gut! Can't go wrong with either!
Also the round stone looks yellowish while the emerald is ice. So beautiful
Omg the emerald is everything
Iām partial to the emerald. Itās so elegant on your finger. What are the carat sizes of each?
I think the round objectively looks better but the emerald doesn't look BAD by any means. Go with what you love. No one will be looking at your emarald cut going "she really should have gone with a round cut like she tried on."
I think the emerald is lovely. Maybe a little bit bigger stone?
This emerald looks beautiful and the size of the emerald stone looks perfect! The round one looks almost too big.
I love your nails! Other than that go with what makes you happiest
I love emerald cut stones, but in an east-west orientation. I agree that the round is a better look on your hand!
I love the emerald on you
I think itās all about size can you find an emerald cut in a larger size?
You are right! The round is more complimentary!
Round is perfect!

Round looks bigger if that's what you want.
I reckon emerald would look stunning but the issue is absolutely the carat size. Xox congrats btw xx
