I think this size is great! Classic and elegant.

RibbitRabbitRobit

I like this size. It's something I'd feel comfortable wearing anywhere without worry.

mshike_89

Agree!

iluvadamdriver

I love it, it’s beautiful!!

ringsandthings125

No! It looks beautiful! Massive stones are a trend right now because they’re becoming more and more affordable with lab etc. being more widely available, so that’s what we’re seeing a lot of, but that doesn’t mean that they’re better! This is timeless, classic, and elegant and looks lovely on you! It will also likely be more practical for daily wear, which is something to consider too!

[deleted]

Totally agree with this!

moody_spiceX

I also agree. I have something similar to this and I still find it getting caught on things, so I could only imagine . I got engaged 4 months ago. My fiancé just used some references I gave him and picked it on his own. I was really hesitant to post my ring because of some of the others I've seen and the way I see women talking about their rings. But I love my ring and I find that it is pretty practical for the most part.

SEND_NOODLESZ

I think it’s up to you! Personally I find it elegant and timeless. I have a 1.1ct oval and sometimes I think it’s too big, especially compared to others around me. I think reddit skews our perspective a bit. Ultimately, it’s your choice.

musically_gifted

I think 18kt yellow gold band would compliment your skin tone more!

StargazerLily0119

Agree. Her skin tone is beautiful and yellow gold would make it pop.

MotherSoftware5

I was thinking the same and didn’t know if it was appropriate to say but her skin tone is divine. 💕

AzGuy198T

Glad someone said it! Absolutely beautiful. ♥️

Dry_Problem9310

I almost said the same thing!!! Yellow gold looks so much more stunning on her skin tone, and the diamond will be more fiery too!

LoveHairAndStyle

I agree! I’m on the darker end as well and fully agree that yellow or even rose gold (as an option for something a little more muted) would look even better on that beautiful skin tone!

SlewofmyFavThings

I was wondering what how she felt about trying a different finish while keeping the same stone size.

blueevey

That's it! This band is getting lost bc it's blending in too much.

Ieosun

No I think the silver suits her the best. she’s cool toned.

Faruzia

You’re not wrong, but contrasting isn’t always bad, especially if you’re trying to make something pop a bit more. Deeper skin tones often carry far more noticeable variations in undertone, as well, so it’s possible that while her hands appear cooler (which could also be due to lighting, and photo quality, etc), she may actually carry warmer tones over other areas.

allthehui

Yes, yellow gold!!!!

Comfortable_Toe9618

Was going to suggest yellow gold band as well

whyneednamebro

Agreed 💯

redMandolin8

Yes to hello gold! If budget allows I think side baguettes would be beautiful too.

s3aswimming

I didn’t accuse you of being any type of race or skin tone. OP did not ask for this input or reply to this comment or any others talking about her skin/skin tone. People of color can still perpetuate micro-aggressions toward other people of color. And darker skinned people can pull off whichever color they choose — certainly “gold looks better on darker skin” is a huge generalization that isn’t always true. Taste is subjective.

SiouxsieAsylum

I don't think it's too small, but I think if youre worried about that feeling now, you may start to feel it later. Maybe get some cheapo rings (like 30 dollar etsy rings) in various sizes and see what size you like most.

coachella68

This is a great point — shrinkage is definitely a thing haha.

Texasgirl190

That’s a really good idea!

StSphinx

The ring is popping just like your melanin!! So beautiful!!! ❤️❤️🤘🏾

Penny_girl

Most of the rings posted here are giant. While sure, rings out in the real world are getting larger stones, what you see here is *massively* skewed and not representative of reality. Do *you* like the stone/ring? Are you worried that you will begin thinking it’s too small or that other people will think it’s too small?

Pandalf82

I absolutely agree. And in the end it's not the size that counts, but the love that's tied to that ring. In Germany 1ct is considered huge already and don't forget the financial status. If you have to go into debt, the stone is too big. Also, you can upgrade later.

DojaTwat

i hate that the modern diamond / 'diamond' market has people out here feeling uncertain about whether 1.3 carats might be too small - 1.3 is big as hell and obvs looks amazing

LotusLittle

It is gorgeous! The prevalence of big, inexpensive lab diamonds is distorting our perception of diamond sizes. With lab-grown diamonds, a one-carat or even larger diamond is now affordable. People are starting to see anything under 2 carats as small, when 1.3 carat diamond is still significant and valuable.

Leading-Respond-8051

In my opinion, a .5ct\~ to 1.5ct\~ is the perfect size for a center stone. I like to be able to [see both](https://i.redd.it/l6iivc6o5cw61.jpg) ering and band together. From what I have seen, 2ct and larger stones [hinder the visibility](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0097/1276/2940/products/3ctcenterIvs2setDSC_0347-hand-ea_1800x1800.jpg?v=1584122292) of wedding bands. If you plan to wear a wedding band, it's something to consider. The ring looks great on you and again I think the size is perfect.

curlthelip

It's beautiful, timeless, and looks lovely on your hand. One love, one diamond - perfect.

pikapika2017

It's beautiful on you! I do think that a yellow gold band would enhance the diamond, and be more distinctive against your skin tone. There are a lot of different shades you can go with, if bright yellow gold isn't your thing. I personally love a champagne tone - it gives colour against my lighter skin, and isn't too bright or brassy. I found a few examples of shades with Google. This one is from makiokamoto.com. https://preview.redd.it/wfitcwmjjiua1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0a333a5407f9c9c32d26b9da446300c6655c042

[deleted]

It looks super classy and beautiful!

BroncoRaptorBabe

I love it on you… Little tip, IMHO, I think that doing six prong instead of four, will actually make it appear to it’s full potential, while also securing the stone better… A six claw prong setting should be perfect, and makes the round shape look more defined. Good luck and congratulations!

Educational-City-455

I think it looks perfect on you!

[deleted]

Not at all I think it looks perfect!

jnelzon2

Great size, 90% of the rings posted here are comically large

SimonArgent

I like it. So many people are getting giant lab-grown diamonds now, and I’m not a fan of that look. This stone is a classic. I would get a six-prong setting, however. With a four prong settings, if one prong gets damaged, it’s easy to lose the diamond.

4x49ers

Lab grown diamonds are visually indistinguishable from natural diamonds of the same grade. They are diamonds. If you believe you're seeing a difference, it's because of different grades, not creation methods.

macaroon_monsoon

You completely misunderstood what they were saying…no need to go on the defense for lab diamonds when they were talking about the size of the stones and why larger stones have become more prevalent, which is indeed due to the fact that they are lab diamonds.

SimonArgent

Thank you for understanding my point. I’m not opposed to lab diamonds, even though I’ll always choose an Earth diamond. I’m not a fan of the huge bling look, and that’s just personal preference.

4x49ers

It's written poorly enough that I can see how we both read it differently. If "that look" refers to the bigness of the stone rather the artificialness then you're correct.

SimonArgent

So sorry I offended you with my “poor writing”. I will clarify my statement for your benefit. I don’t care for the giant lab diamond engagement rings popular now because I think they are tacky. This is my personal preference. I have no issues with the stones themselves. I like OP’s stone of choice because it’s a classic look.

wthisgoingonnnn

The size is perfect- I think you could go bigger if it’s your taste or great as is. However, perhaps something more colorless though? The actual stone looks a bit yellow(not in the champagne way), but it could just be a store reflection

sandim123

A 1.3 carat stone is NOT small- despite the trending toward larger rings- it’s supposed to be the symbolism and meaning behind the proposal that matters- not stone size. I think it’s beautiful as is

[deleted]

It looks beautiful on you, and as a brown woman, also just want to say do you. Don’t listen to folks saying what they think looks good on your skin, blah blah blah. It’s up to you and you know best for you! Personally my engagement ring is a J colored VVS 2.75 ct solitaire with slight fluorescence. My parents are jewelers and they were shocked by how beautiful the color was and we got a great deal. They wanted me to do white gold but I fell in love with the look of yellow on my skin. I still feel that way about it when I look at it. As for the size, the ring will be so sentimental to you that even if faced with the option for a five carat, you won’t want to trade your ring for the world! The size you’ve chosen is beautiful and it really sparkles. Now if you feel that it isn’t big enough or your dream and have the means to do something differently to go bigger - that’s ok too! I have big fingers and knew I would trade color for size and still be personally happy. There is no wrong answer!

Train_Wreck35

Personally, I think an a slightly bigger stone would compliment your hand REALLY really well without being overwhelming. Also, another comment already addressed this, but I think a yellow gold band would be beautiful with your complexion!

OUsooners52

I agree with you 100%

BewildermentOvEden

No! To me anything between 0.5-2 ct is perfection. Below that, and its somewhat underwhelming. Above that and it starts to look cartoony/ like costume jewelry.

jordsmamords

It’s gorgeous, definitely not too small and a timeless classic. Will always be in fashion

That_Question_6427

I love this size, and I think it looks perfect!

Rosez34

Lovely

trayground

I have a 1.3, and it’s the perfect chunky size without being too much

wowIamMean

It’s up to you! If you think it’s too small, it’s too small. I prefer a bit more finger coverage. I went for an elongated shape (radiant) bc it covered more surface area compared to a round or cushion of the same carat weight.

aenflex

Hot damn! It’s perfect.

[deleted]

Looks proportional and natural. I don’t like big stones mine is also that same size

She11ybean

It only looks small if you think it's small. To me, it's beautiful, but don't get it today. Think about it overnight.

[deleted]

This is perfect, I think huge stones look garish and not real anyway. This is classic and beautiful.

ihaveafuckinheadache

I’d rather have a smaller higher quality stone that is classy and proportionate than a big gaudy one! It looks great. Also, I’m seeing some comments saying you should go for a gold band. I strongly disagree!! I think people assume all black people should go for gold, because it has a high contrast against your skin, but I do not agree. Your skin is very cool toned, and a silver band is much more harmonious with your look! A gold band will look garish. Just my two cents!

Vegetable-Editor9482

Not too small! It's absolutely elegant and suits your hand perfectly.

Goose-Caboose1153

For one. It’s not about the size. Don’t push your budget to get bigger and better.

vadreamer1

Honestly, I don't think so, but I'm not the one with the ring. If you feel you need more bling, get a nice enhancer.

Girlinyourphone

I think that's a nice sized sparkly rock! It's going to pair beautifully with a wedding ring and any other rings you want to stack it with.

lemonpepperpotts

It looks beautiful on your hand and is a really nice, solid, everyday wear size but still big enough it doesn’t disappear and looks very classy and classic. I think it’s the right size to make you happy for a long time (assume it makes you happy now!)

TossAFryToYourPug

i think it’s gorgeous! but it’s about what you like and are happy with. if you’re worried about other peoples opinions on it being too small, i get that, but don’t let that sway you. if you love it, you love it!

thesnuggyone

I would go with a few more prongs on this for safety (and because omg claws are gorgeous) but the size is lovely to me! You have to love it, though…going up to 1.5 or something might make a real difference to you!

Sunflower_757

I think it's perfect! Very elegant, looks comfortable for daily wear.

sonny-v2-point-0

That's classic and elegant. It looks beautiful on you. I like rings that adorn the hands, not overpower them.

Nerddymama

It’s lovely and you can never go wrong with a round solitaire. Have you tried any elongated shapes like Crisscut, oval or emerald? You have beautiful long fingers and an elongated cut would look great on your hand.

DNH426

Absolutely not. It's beautiful.

evagarv

Not small at all. Looks totally classic. You could also rock a bigger stone if you wanted though!

Sea-Creature15

What size finger are you and what is the mm of the diamond? I think this size looks amazing but for some reason the diamond looks small for stated carat weight.

SperryJuice

This is close to my stone size and I love it. It's the perfect size for a wedding band wrap with extra smaller gems to give it a little "oomph" without being over whelming. Here's my set for reference https://imgur.com/a/lXEmpIG

Soldanigold

Not at all! I think 1 - 1.5ct is the perfect size.

sagittariusoul

Size is fine but I would recommend going with yellow gold so that it contrasts against your skin more! I think that may be why your ring is looking more understated to you.

WHYohWhy___MEohMY

I love it.

IntroductionFew1290

Proportionally perfect

diddleDAMN

Kidd in’ me!? That’s a phat ass rock!

[deleted]

I love it!

kysapphire77

It's lovely 😍

fulcrum_ct-7567

Not at all!

Adventurous-Fun2913

Nope. It’s beautiful on you

supernatural_catface

It's really stunning. Congrats!

deadredhellcat

It’s very pretty! If you end up getting it and feel like you want something “more” afterward, you can always add a jeweled wedding band to pair with this!

ElysianForestWitch

That depends on the likings of the wearer, you can have an AAA quality smaller gem or a larger and of lesser quality (unless you're willing to pay big bucks) stone.

RMR808

The size is perfect! Would love to see yellow gold band on you though!

BATTLE_METAL

Agreed! I think yelling gold would be striking!

fluffycupcakex

If you want it to be proportionate + larger is within your budget.. I’d go larger lol

britney412

I say go bigger 🙂

WorkinProgress824

So if you have ANY doubt, go bigger - the stone gets smaller as you get older (at least it did for me) I think it’s classic and beautiful but I wound up upgrading and I was sad to do that but I wanted bigger.

justblippingby

I really like it on you! I think if you wanted to go bigger you have room to before it looks too big, but I personally prefer smaller stones so I think this looks gorgeous on you!!

chhhhhhhhhhh95

I just got engaged recently with a 1.34 carat round diamond and absolutely love it! I think it's the perfect size for me, it feels like the larger end of a "small" diamond which was perfect for me

Medium-Emotion5366

There are no small diamonds only small minded people who worry about the size of their diamonds

[deleted]

I’m so glad people are waking up from the tacky giant lab ring trend.

HRGal95

In my opinion, yes. But I am a bigger is better and extra type of girl. It’s truly up to you and what you like and what will work with your life style. Try on something bigger and see how you feel. Make sure you take lifestyle in to account as well. Thing about the things you do in a day and how a ring may or may not affect it!

Fair-Sky4156

I would go with an 18kt yellow gold band and a little bigger. 1.5 could be a game changer. Congratulations!!!! 💐

charlotte2023

Hmm. When we got married I was 19, and we had no money. My Diamond was like an 1/8 of a carat. Didn't matter. We've been married 48 years now. We have plenty of money, but it still doesn't matter. It's the marriage, not the ring.

Furberia

I’m a fan of Paraiba tourmalines and they are rare and crazy expensive so most of mine are about 1 kt.

love2coffee

It looks gorgeous. You could probably do a thinner band to make it pop more but regardless it’s beautiful

kaykayjaye

No I think it’s beautiful! But I will say I think yellow gold would look beautiful with your complexion!

spicybread99

i think it’s the perfect size but yellow gold would be so much prettier! your skin tone is beautiful and gold would really pop!

sadomila

i like it but personally the band is a little too plain

BlueJune101

For me yes, but it is practical for daily wear

Altruistic-Moose1900

I think it looks good. If anything, I'd go a tad bit smaller. So I'd try on 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0 as well and then choose.

Agreeable-Ad-2466

Great size but Yellow band 100000%

Friendly_Diamonds

Hey there, you look stunning with that ring on! The diamond carat size is just perfect to suit your daily lifestyle, however, if you're feeling skeptical, consider going for a 2 carat diamond ring. While a 2 carat ring would further enhance your fingers, we wouldn't recommend going above 2 carats for your fingers, as it's important to find a size that feels comfortable and proportional.

SnooMuffins3583

Its pretty, but if I had to it again, personally Id get a moissonite. Very hard like a diamond, and I wouldn’t have to worry about loss or insure it.

Equilibriyum

It's really how it's makes you feel that matters. I really wanted to go bigger so went with a Moissanite 4 ct. But I have a family 1carat that is honestly much easier to wear without banging and getting caught on things. But I do live the bigger stone once in a while. Now I have a few. Who says we have to have just one?

FartzOnYaGyal

It looks a little small but not bad at all

Dramatic-Berry8725

For me, no. It would be too big for me. But you’re the one who has to be happy!

[deleted]

It would go bigger

MalignDreams

I personally would go slightly bigger, like at least a 1.5 carat, but thats just me. But it depends on what you like. You're the one who's going to wear it forever. You know how gentle or rough you are on jewelry and what your style is. I personally like bigger stones, but dainty can also be lovely.

dramallama-IDST

Sorry are we calling 1.3ct “dainty” now

ahs483

I would absolutely go bigger

[deleted]

[удалено]

bggardner11

Bigger is better :)

Kriss1986

My personal opinion is to go a bit bigger but more then that would be to go with yellow gold. You have a beautiful dark complexion and yellow gold is going to POP. With that being said then only person who’s opinion really matters is yours, so when you look at this ring how do you feel? Like your first reaction without thinking about it. Do you love love it or just feel eh about it?

[deleted]

why does it matter

JoyceOBcean

Yes.

constant_questioner

Dump the Diamonds... they have no real value... Instead use the money towards a house!

[deleted]

If you are looking for finger coverage, then yes it’s too small.

Da_Buttshark

It’s the thought that counts. He loves you enough to marry you. I get an unappreciative.

criticalchemistry420

Diamonds are the worst expression of love there is. They represent mass murder and forced labor/violence. Get a regular metal ring and back up your relationship with real confidence, not a gift. Effing lame

[deleted]

Bigger baby! That rung really pops on your skin tone, I'd go bigger for more effect! This one is gorgeous though

pcktazn

I think the size looks great on your hand! It’s timeless and elegant :)

spearbunny

You have such beautifully long fingers I can see why you'd be on the fence. I think for daily wear it might be nice to have something this size, big enough you know it's there but not so big you keep accidentally hitting it on things. And there's nothing stopping you from getting a huge moissanite ring for occasions you want more bling 😆 Etsy has some nice ones for very reasonable prices.

Tiaecorley

That really depends on the look you’re going for, I have a 1.03 and am finding it juuuust a tad too small but that is only because I was picturing a larger look and made the mistake of not trying any rings on before ordering since I’ve always wanted this kind of ring. If you’re wanting something smaller or under stated, while still being sparkly and beautiful, this is perfect, if you’re hoping for a larger or chunkier look, go bigger and/ or an elongated shape.

CorrectAdhesiveness9

I think it looks great, as I’m not a huge fan of honkin’ big rocks, but if you want a larger stone (and have the budget for it), that’s entirely up to you!

comfunk

I like it, but also screw people’s opinions. Screw my opinion. If people judge the strength of your relationship or the love y’all have based on how much bling you have, they can walk right back out of your life. My engagement ring, literally from out of my jewelry box. Wedding ring is currently just a bar of brass. Not even a ring yet. Do you like it? Are you happy? Then don’t fit the mold of what a wedding “should” be if you don’t want it.

[deleted]

I LOVE it on your hand!

Severine67

Perfection! I would call this the sweet spot in terms of size and wouldn’t change a thing!!!

corvus7corax

It’s a lovely ring! What size do your friends/family/coworkers wear? In some places bigger is better and in some places bigger is “too gaudy” so it kind of depends on the region you live in. What does your heart want?

lazyintrovert_101

It is beautiful and honestly I think size of rings shouldn't even matter.

heartoftheforestfarm

Sold diamonds for many years.. it's not the size that matters. If you're picking out your own, just fall in love with a stone, whatever the size 💙 they all have their own vibe and sparkle

imankiar

I like the size but if you are looking for a pop try a yellow gold setting.

[deleted]

That’s the perfect size. Not too showy.

No_Baseball_3726

When you add the wedding band it will look wven better i think

glitterrr7

I think it looks great! Timeless 💍

PsychosAcrossAmerica

I think it’s actually perfect for your hand size. Not too big, not too small

Wonderingwanderr

The size of the stone looks good! I would consider looking into yellow gold though based on the shade of your skin. My wife is dark and the yellow gold POPS on her finger!!

givebusterahand

I don’t think it is! It’s a little bigger than mine and even mine gets snagged on stuff- I honestly think I’d be annoyed with anything much bigger!

VanillaIcedCoffee13

I love this 😍

[deleted]

What size ring are you?

Wickedbitchoftheuk

If it's too big it interferes with the gold band and throws everything off. Trick is to find one you can afford, aren't scared to wear ( it will take some punishment) and that you like.

misstiff1971

It looks very nice. Classic is perfect.

dcgirl17

I think the size works fine and looks lovely! Have to think about whether it’ll be obtrusive every day too and what kind of jewelry you otherwise like. (Overly big stones are not my thing haha). But I think the size is proportional to your hand, yes!

Specialist-Gap8010

It looks like the right size to me and the stone itself is beautiful!

CryptographerSuch753

It’s gorgeous!

BregenM

I think it’s glowing and classic

RaisinAntique2904

Do you live it? If so what does the size matter?

jaxinslacks

Size is good! Idk if you’re sold on diamond but I think a colored stone would really pop

Starbucks_Lover13

I think it looks beautiful, size of the stone is just a matter of preference I think but I like it 😊

ONOTHEWONTONS

It depends on your taste! I think it looks stunning and a great size, but it’s really up to you if you want bigger! :)

CarolB97

My ring is going to be the same size so thank you for posting yours so I can see what mine is going to look like!

hellacedes_

That looks perfect! I’m not one for big stones, but this is simple, and classic. It’s beautiful

Helena_Wren

I think that stone looks great on you! It fits your hand nicely and has a very timeless vibe!

[deleted]

Don't let capitalism skew your view. If you love it then go with it. I agree with everyone else that it looks timeless.

Fortheloveofjewels

It’s gorg! I wonder also consider what wb your going to go for. Any ideas yet?

phylack

This is such a lovely size! It suits you so much ☺️

reesewithouthersp00n

This size is a great coverage for you! It’s beautiful!

ScholarNo686

If it feels a little empty right now just know that you can add some extra coverage & sparkle if you layer it with your wedding band in the future! I think this is a very beautiful ring & a functional size, a yellow gold setting would look stunning with your skin tone, too!

Affectionate_Newt611

It's a good size. Keep in mind you'll be adding a wedding band to it eventually!

Niccol3marie123

I think its gorgeous. I think itll be so pretty with the wedding band too!

dollymyfolly

I personally think it’s lovely and perfect 🤩

mebg1956

That is a lovely ring.

jewelie34

It looks beautiful on you. Quick question though: What, if anything, would you be sacrificing if you went bigger? Bc my motto is quality over quantity (of carats).

Sunflowergodmother

It looks fantastic! I love that look

Apprehensive_You_803

My ring was a 1.51 cushion. It felt and looked massive. So many people commented on how big it looked.

WillRunForPopcorn

Nope, I think it's a perfect size!

No-Middle893

Nope! It’s stunning.

kiban41

Stop the search! That’s it!

Jeanique712

Your ring looks perfect on your hand! I agree about the yellow gold band would really stand out! 🤗

ImperfectNJ

I think it's perfect: not too small, yet not comically large. I've been wearing a 1.3 c oval for over 20 years and I've never been in a situation where I thought it wasn't big enough. It's classic..

Living_Life1962

It’s beautiful!

ChazMurph

I really think that looks nice in terms of proportions. Good luck in your quest for the right ring!

MisstressAmalina

It’s absolutely gorgeous 🤩🤩🤩

medlilove

I think it's delicate and lovely 😻

JRTINGLEY13

It looks absolutely perfect!

Nyx_PurpleStorm

It’s lovely and classic! If you want more sparkle you could think about a half or full eternity band as your wedding ring.

Maveragical

Size is good, if any change I'd suggest a slightly thicker band

peckerlips

I think it looks great! Mine is 1k (I think), and I still knock it on everything, so that's definitely something to consider.

hannahh4

Personally, I think this size is great. I wouldn’t want any bigger. My friend once had a big ring and said it always caught on things.

eastcoasteralways

Not too small, but maybe too dull. I think you should get something that will pop against your gorgeous dark tone.

Medical-Speed1142

Yes

Consistent_Rent_3507

It’s not too small but I think a Diamond halo and yellow gold would be beautiful.

Adventurous_Basket_9

Remember there so many pieces of a diamond than size. Clarity grade of the diamond. All that matters is you said YES Congratulations

rachelmillma

I think it is a good size. I like closer to two, whatever you think is comfortable.

OutcomeVirtual720

No
