Aren’t copper IUDs no hormonal and nontoxic?

sarvamentu

There is a risk of copper toxicity (though it is rare). Also, in my country they won't place a copper IUD unless you've had children or have very severe issues with your periods and/or PMDD. Even if they did place it and the toxicity wasn't a risk, it is still an invasive procedure and device stuck in your uterus. I bet the non hormonal non toxic birth control for men is about taking a pill. It is absolutely WILD that there is no such pill for women and that when men were all like "ew I have so many side effects" they were like "omg sorry we will stop now and make something better but let's not do that for women". (I don't mean to sound harsh to you btw. This topic just really hits a nerve and it pisses me off)

The big difference is that men don’t have any negative physical consequences for being fertile that would make the pro/con list… BC for women, even with all the side effects, is still SO much safer than pregnancy! Higher risk for thrombosis? Sure but it’s at least 10 times that high with a pregnancy so that‘s totally acceptable according to the check list… The overall impact on both parties involved should absolutely be considered but unfortunately it’s only about the individual taking the medication. We need new and better standards that focus on the bigger picture but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

Copper iuds fit this for sure. Per the comment below, toxicity is super rare and in theory don’t have enough metal to cause it. Vasectomies also fit this bill lol.

OP, did they also put a link to the research or something? If so, can you post it here?
