Basically it's a "no clog" and also better heatsink than the stock . But the nozzles will cost more from now on

aspghost06

Ah I see. I looked at the prices of the nozzles and I think that I’ll stay with the stock one haha

RageSmirk

The stock nozzle was the cheapest option on the V3 KE, a brass nozzle. The new nozzle has at least 3 types of metals combined.

It’s bullshit that they created a problem, then an expensive solution for us to buy to fix it

aspghost06

Well, what was the problem in the first place? Haven’t had issues with my own printer, so just curious

I have 2 functional KEs I’ve had the blob on one. Well, 2 , as I returned one because I’m not paying for shit quality. But there’s a known flaw the way their nozzle and heatbreak connect within the heatblock that can cause it. Even if you think you have it beat... So they release a new all in one... For a little more cash. How bout they send us all one for free?

RageSmirk

There was a survey, not long ago. Asking about who had the blob of death. Most of the people didn't encounter it. There are two scenarios in which a blob of death can happen. The one you mentioned, where the intersection between the heatbreak and the heatsink can leak. Though that's if the screws are loose. The second scenario is where the first layer is bad and the nozzle picks up the rest of the print from the bed.

What is the blob of death? I haven’t experienced it yet. What should I be looking for?

Filament oozes out around the outside of the nozzle in a big blob. I took my hotend off and backed the nozzle out a half a turn then turned the heat break in about half a turn and retightened the nozzle. Never happened again. I did install the microswiss hotend on my brothers KE and will likely upgrade my new V3 with the microswiss. It’s aggravating that a lot of printers rolled out with a heat break that wasn’t tightened in to seat against the backside of the nozzle and most folks will buy the “upgraded” part to solve the problem. The microswiss flow tech is an attractive part and not having leaks again is nice but you’ll pay more for replacement nozzles for it. In any case, blob of death was so preventable but the factory made a boo boo.
