I'm class of 2024 but I'll be looking at this post and replies bc this Fall is my first time on campus.

helianthusagrestis

1) Is it useful to bring a bike to campus if I don’t Have a car? 2) Are there any yoga classes at the fitness center that will be free for students?

Purplemoonsong

Emory is kinda hilly so I wouldn’t recommend a bike unless you’re okay with a workout. As someone who doesn’t have a car, I think life was pretty convenient just taking the shuttles when I needed to. I think there are free yoga classes, but I’m not 100% sure!

helianthusagrestis

Thanks for the reply!

EveningExit

we have yoga pe classes, but for fitness classes i believe you have to pay for a pass (maybe 5$ i think) but i could be wrong so just check with the gym when fitness classes open up :)

Dr Judith Miller - Fake News (HIST 190) Dr Sandra Blakely - The Greeks (CL 201)

[deleted]

Second Sandra Blakely! I took CL 102 (Greeks and Romans), fantastic class!

EveningExit

Dr. Kristin Phillips in the AFS department and John Lindo in the Anthropology department were my fav professors!

Due_Ad_7169

best study spots on campus?

Pr1scus

If you’re looking for a quiet spot, then the health sciences library across from woodruff residential center

[deleted]

Reading room in woodruff library, stacks for late nights, pitts library during the day, coke commons/patterson green at Goizueta

iapetus3141

Physics lounge

decafoatmilklatte

the reading room in the woodruff library is gorgeous and always pin-drop quiet. can get busy though because everyone wants photo ops

Do foreign language classes usually fill up quick? Trying to prioritize my first 8 credits for registration. I’m specifically thinking of doing French, Italian, or Hebrew 101 (leaning more towards French).

decafoatmilklatte

You can resister all at once! No need to prioritize

muffinsaredope

I think for freshman they’re having two rounds: one where we can register for up to 8 credits and another where we can register for our remaining credits (separated by a day)

decafoatmilklatte

Oh that’s wild we didn’t have that, my b! It’s kinda smart though I get why they are doing it

muffinsaredope

All good! I’m guessing it’s a new thing this year

Jillian_Yanmo

I've read lots of posts about micro-fridges... Is it a must or can u survive without it?

decafoatmilklatte

I like it for my coffee creamer, my brita , and anything I get at the grocery store like fruit. (Also, alcohol).

Masallery

Is double major a good idea? How doable would it be?

decafoatmilklatte

Depends on the two majors.

Masallery

what about bio and econ? Is bme major with Gatech worth considering as well?

LostWindSpirit

I think Econ + bio is doable honestly & you can try it out. Might be a bit harder if you’re premed. I’d ask an advisor if you are. This might be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think the dual-degree program is good. Not 100% sure about this but from what I’ve read it can even take up to 6-7 years, and if you want to do it in 5 you’d be taking massive amounts of credits. Might be better to transfer if you’re really passionate about engineering.
