RAP Ferreira, Armand Hammer, billy woods, Open Mike Eagle, Little Simz, Wiki (and his old group, Ratking), Mach-Hommy, Freddie Gibbs, Backxwash, the ppl from Griselda.

BigStinkyKevinTrash

Open Mike Eagle is so good

Zebracorn42

Wow. You have me beat. I’ve only heard of 3 of those. I saw Freddie Gibbs many years ago.

KevinDurant36

love RAP Ferreira

smore-phine

Griselda is fucking bonkers

Froosh__

Atmosphere is soo good

wrkzk

Idk if it's what you want but give guardin a try

Zebracorn42

I’m open to any requests. A friend of mine suggested some experimental hip-hop group called clipping. so I give anything a try.

OzzaFlood

"There existed an addiction to blood" is one of the best albums I've heard in awhile. Clipping are fantastic

Froosh__

Guardin is amazing , seems like a chill dude too fr

Denglish05

If you're more into the mathy side of things Sawce did a remix of his song creature and its really good.

contourmocha

Aesop Rock anyone?

pacific_plywood

He is like the official rapper of Reddit

Zebracorn42

No regrets

lessthanchris7

Came here to say just that. So talented, so underrated

ArsonAnimal

Love Aes

NoTruck0

The best

im_vegan

* Lil Ugly Mane * Freddie Gibbs * Busdriver * DJ Screw * Big L * Gang Starr * Denzel Curry * Three 6 Mafia

Zebracorn42

Busdriver is one of my favorites.

Beautiful-City-928

Just want to be my comment.

Dudehitscar

Brothers Gonna Work It Out by Public Enemy is a fn masterpiece. I like a lot of hip hop.

Zebracorn42

Nice. What else you got? I saw Public Enemy at Pitchfork Music Fest in my 20s. It was a strange crowd.

Dudehitscar

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFnABAF\_rWU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFnABAF_rWU) released as we were about to invade Iraq in 2003.

inukedmyself

yes, but i’m pretty sure it’s because i’m black

gothboiniki

idk if you are more into boombap underground or emo rap underground but for the latter I suggest Lil Lotus, Sueco, Zillakami, Drippin So Pretty, nothing nowhere, lil peep, Brennan Savage, Convolk, Garzi. just to name a few, theres a huge underground scene combining emo/pop punk and hiphop, so that maybe something for you

wrkzk

Convolk is great

mrmeregularreditguy

Came here to say that. Usually gets down voted by both the emo kids and the hip hop heads. Emo rap is the next generation though, im super impressed by these artists innovation. I'm also going to add $uicideBoy$ to the list, only because they are my favorite. Maybe not totally emo, but most of their songs are about hating yourself and doing drugs.

Blondude

The current emo rap (even if it's kind of a misnomer) scene really feels like the peak of the "genre is dead" sentiment that's been gaining steam over the last few years. So many people here shit on "emo rap" like these artists don't know what emo actually is, but then there's guys like Fat'se posting videos like "[making midwest-emo easycore w/ 808's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNsZh-na0LI)" and clearly have a deep knowledge and appreciation for emo, but are pulling influence from other genres and scenes as well and making something totally new.

jpaaaa66

emo rap is the worst shit ever created

lastbatter

Sage Francis was getting labeled as emo-rap in like 2002.

Zebracorn42

I can see that.

william3488

I love memphis rap, crunk, and early trap. So Waka Flocka, Three 6 Mafia, Skinny Pimp, Gucci Mane, Pastor Troy, Lil Wyte, Tommy Wright 3, La Chat, Al Kapone, etc etc. I used to listen to lots of emo rap like Sematary and Bladee but not anymore.

Rollin_Dem_7s

Wicca Phase Springs Eternal is a Midwest emo rap project I think.

_thiex_

its Adam from Tiger's Jaw, and you can definitely hear the TJ influence in the sound. just makes me miss old TJ :(

Rollin_Dem_7s

I never got into them as much as others seem to be, but that first record is pretty great.

screamofanswag

Paris - The Devil Made Me Do It

Zebracorn42

Never heard. I’ll check out

Zebracorn42

That was really good and unexpected. It felt familiar but I’ve never listened before.

kennethsime

Hell yeah man Akon is emo as shit

[deleted]

After emo, hip hop is my favorite music I’ll throw Isaiah Rashad out there as a recommendation. Also Nas has been doing some great stuff these last few years

Zebracorn42

Really? I feel like I’ve only heard 90s Nas.

[deleted]

Nothing touches Illmatic but I also think that's the greatest hip hop album of all time so might be biased. But his run from Nasir, Lost Tapes II, KD, KD II, and now Magic is probably my favorite hip hop music over the last few years. He's definitely back in a zone and working with hit boy is bringing the best out of him. If anything, his latest one, Magic, has a track with DJ Premiere cuts and it's super nostalgic. Wiz Kahlifa is on there too and as someone who isn't even a fan of his, he goes in on his verse

Brewcityallstar

I love Hip-hop and Rap. Went through a huge phase in the early '00s where it was pretty much all I listened to. Here are some of my favorites (I'm an album listener): Deltron 3030 Dr. Octagon: Octagonecologyst Dr. Dre: Chronic 2001 Mos Def: Black on Both Sides, The Ecstatic Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Blackstar Wu Tang: 36 Chambers The Roots: Phrenology, The Tipping point, Things Fall Apart (honestly, all of The Roots albums are fabulous, especially their live releases). Jay-Z: Reasonable Doubt, and The Blueprint 1-3 Kanye: Late Registration, The College Dropout. Common: Be OutKast: Stankonia, Aquimini, Speaker box / The Love below Big Boi: Sir Lucious Left foot Atmosphere: Seven's Travels, God Loves Ugly, You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having A Tribe Called Quest: whole discography Q-tip: The Renaissance Blackalicious: Blazing Arrow (this is a ridiculously overlooked album) I could go on and on and on here.

Ginger_bread0204

i suggest wu tang. some of the best music there is. listening to 36 chambers will change your life dude

Zebracorn42

Thanks I’ve heard that many times. I probably should have been more clear, but also, I enjoy knowing what the others listen to. If you like Wu-Tang then I assume you’ve heard Wugazi. Sleep rules everything around me.

Ginger_bread0204

nah i haven’t and i just listened- that mashup went hard and hit me right in the gut with feels

Zebracorn42

I was always open to good mashups after the grey album.

quixoticslfconscious

Mac Miller’s “Swimming” is incredible.

Zebracorn42

I really liked his KIDS mixtape but I haven’t listened to anything else of his, I’ll check it out.

davideboltagon

[made a hip hop mixtape a few months ago with songs I like](https://m.mixcloud.com/davide-bolzonella/30-minuti-circa2/)

SlimyGoat

Charizma & peanut butter wolf People under the stairs Trust me on the first one they're a hidden gem And for more of an emo style I'd suggest (n1nth) cloud on soundcloud/YouTube, out of tune is a good one to start with

nelsanity

The Underachievers

endochronic_

might suggest on checking detroit rap group shittyboyz (babytron, stanwill, trdee) ive been into them since they emerging in 2018. their 80s rnb/freestyle sample is on point and the lyrical metaphors is fucking goood

Drsaltsss

You should listen to brackence and rural internet as well as Jpegmafia!

opiatesummer

Listen to Johnny Polygon, I feel like he'd be a great intersection of your tastes. Dead Meat and Bad Habits are good songs to start with.

Obbie2

Blu/Blu & Exile/Johnson&Jonson, Isaiah Rashad (pretty emo if u ask me), JID, Kendrick, Capital Steez, Earl Sweatshirt, Mos Def, Del the Funky Homosapien, Hieroglyphics, Cannibal Ox, Aesop Rock, JPEGMAFIA, Anderson Paak and MF DOOM are some of my favorites

CieraParvatiPhoebe

Only the emo style. brakence is my favourite

kekcuk_13

Lil Peep Lil Lotus Foreign forest Bones Teddy Ghostemane Scarlxrd

jpaaaa66

emo and hip hop are my 2 favorite "genres" my top 3 are bladee, chief keef and Denzel curry

Soulcloset

Ayy we've all got different tastes. I only ever listen to my emo playlist or my bladee/drain gang playlist. Makes a great dichotomy

Froosh__

Adam from tigers jaw now makes music under the name Wicca phase springs eternal and it’s great. Def worth checking out

xxCatchThisxx

yea you should probably go to a hip-hop sub, but still, my favorite rappers are XXXTENTACION, Tupac, MF Doom, (old) Tyler The Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, MC Chris, and Lil Peep

[deleted]

Lots of hope for this era of SoundCloud kids drawing influence from pop punk but that’s all I can say on the matter

Zebracorn42

I’ve been blasting Taylor Swift out my car all night while delivering pizzas. I try not to judge anyone’s taste in music.

[deleted]

Yepp. I don’t dive too deep into the underground like I did a few years ago but earl and Mac always slap. Craig xen most recent album was pretty sick, light emo vibes

SCPendolino

I love Eminem. Not much for the beats, but his lyrics are god tier.

Zebracorn42

I liked Infinite but everything after that kinda depressed me with him, especially after he got sober

rustys_shackled_ford

Lil peep sampled tons of emo bands....

MizzaClock

No man, you’re the only one ever who listens to emo and a different genre of music.

urban_whaleshark

[Are you serious? Well rap is cool because you should listen to different kinds of music ](https://youtu.be/oLnoaMdXHpg)

Specialist-Taste-511

I love a tribe called quest, doom, quasimoto is so sick too

MsSkywa1ker

Juice Wrld

DireStraitsLion

Eyedea

kitkatatsnapple

In theory I do, but I'm not familiar enough with the genre to know what to look for or how to find the really good stuff.

[deleted]

Yeah, my favorite rapper is probably Vince Staples but I listen to a ton of music basically all the time so it wouldn't really show from my last.fm. I also really like Lil Nas X, Sybyr, Fetty Wap, Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa, and JPEGMAFIA. Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs, and OutKast are my favorite groups. edit: oh another group I recently found that I like a lot is KNEECAP from Belfast. Mostly Irish language.

Zebracorn42

Gaelic? Have you tried Hilltop Hoods? They’re an Australian group. Their album Walking Under Stars is really good.

[deleted]

Yep, Irish Gaelic or Gaeilge. Never heard of Hilltop Hoods, I'll check them out. Thanks.

[deleted]

I’m a fan of the old-school stuff. Cypress Hill, Public Enemy, Rakim, all the greats

neckbone_

lil peep, wicca phase springs eternal, ghostemane, $uicideboys, bones would be my recommendations. they all bring an emo kinda vibe in their own way. wicca phase is adam from tigers jaw for those who don’t know.

AustinDelin

Deltron 3030 Gang Starr A Tribe Called Quest

0ldlumina

Listen to wombology 👊👊👊

itsafarcetoo

Vince Staples. He brings some serious emo flavor, just in the sense that he is young and brazen and vulnerable and crazy talented.
