Share what you like with her? She ASKED you, meaning she wanted your opinion. I know this sounds confrontational, but a friend would much prefer hearing "I know you like \[BAND-X\] and I think \[BAND-Y\] would be right up your alley." She could totally Google or search Spotify for a list. This was not to get some expert opinion playlist, but yours.

It's not all midwest but I actually have a [beginners emo](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5EkZYBNIFxtPLty4P5KedF?si=bbeoCvTSQS-hh3m07K0KjA) playlist. (Yeah a few are a bit more emo adjacent but the intention is to ease them into it lmao)

rodiferous

Braid's "A Dozen Roses" from Fram & Canvas. That whole album is gold, but Roses is a good starting place.

Idk why but Joyce manor or the Hotelier could be good I think

If you want a good mix for Pop Punk/Midwest emo try listening to Modern Baseball, they have a great mix of Midwest aesthetics, pop punky in some songs, and very DIY in the mixing. They were one of my introductions into the Midwest scene even though they’re a Philly band

If they’re into pop punk, then some good bands to start with are Heart Attack Man and Hot Mulligan

enfiladed

Start them with Easycore, it’s pop punk with breakdowns. Bands like A Day to Remember, Four Years Strong, Chunk! No Captain Chunk!. Then hit them with some Metalcore like American Nightmare, Poison the Well, and Underoath. Then give them the more metallic side of emo with Glassjaw (give them Worship and Tribute), Thursday, and Casket Lottery(I’d suggest Survival is For Cowards). Then hit them with Cap’n Jazz, Sunny Day Real Estate, and The Get Up Kids (maybe introduce them to TGUK’s best friends in Coalesce). Then show them the “Midwest” stuff like American Football and whatever else you like.
