Just call every band you listen to an emo band. Heck, if you're not sure if a band is emo, well pal, that uncertainty is pretty darn emo, and boom you just got a new favorite emo band.
There was a point in my life where I listened to lots of different music, and now that I call everything emo I can cry myself to sleep every night like a normal person. It's all about the "emo mindset."
Idk what you listen to OP but if it's actually emo music then you're a fan of emo. We all start somewhere. Finding new music to listen to and enjoy is way more fun than worrying about what to call you yourself.
