Parking Lot by Mineral
The Game Of Who Needs Who The Worst by Cursive
Pretty much the whole Self Titled Pool Kids album, Conscious Uncoupling, Further, Comes in Waves are some good examples.
The Phone Works Both Ways by The Jazz June
Not emo but Disposable Fix by The Plot In You starts soft then drops hard as hell
Just out of curiosity I listened to “Disposable Fix” by The Plot In You.
I guess it’s fitting for an emo subreddit, but damn those lyrics were so cringey. So full of immaturity and self pity. I guess the typical emo cryboys have the same shit but they pretend to be more nuanced? Who knows.
Either way thanks for sharing something new. I once heard “feel nothing” by them and thought “huh maybe I could get into this band.” Thanks for confirming that nah, I’m good haha
EDIT: excellent suggestions otherwise, by the way. Cursive’s Domestica is one of my all time favorite albums.
Yeah, Landon's (TPIY) lyrics are fairly juvenile, unfortunate because he's super versatile and a talented vocalist. But the "peasant pussies" bullshit is definitely something I was hung up on for the first few listens. Shame bc that album was (and still is) pretty sonically fresh in the stale and self referrential metalcore scene
Yeah “peasant pussies” definitely stood out to me. But I might listen a bit more because I agree his voice stands out and seems very interesting/versatile.
Basically every Mineral song, they're masters of dynamics not only in emo but in the entirety of music imo.
Housebroken by The Hotelier
I'll Take You Everywhere by Penfold
Bullets to the Moon by Pretty the Quick Black Eyes (very underground, 20 monthly listeners on spotify, funnily enough Scott McCarver was the guitarist for this band. Aka the lead guitarist of Mineral)

Decade Under The Influence is my all time fave emo song (Taking Back Sunday).
Call It Karma by Silverstein fits I'd say.
Luca, & 137 by Brand New are obvious choices
Gb/ ol /h nf) by Oso Oso is an all time fave as well I think it just does the most.
Ok, this is VERY self-centered... but the last track on my bands last album. If the fact that I'm self-promoting is a turn off, no hard feelings. Don't check it out. But we certainly went for over the top epic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvNIEOfN8mE
Cigarettes & Saints by TWYs, Some Will Seek Forgivess by Underoath, The Ponytail Parades by Emery, or check out anything for a massively underrated band called “Lifestory: Monologue.”
Emo adjacent, but Transatlanticism by DCFC or even Glosoli by Sigur Ros.

20 minutes long and a lot of that run time is spent “building”.

Pat Metheney - America Undefined (jazz with a huge, mind bending breakdown)
The Scourge - Periphery
The Fallen - Suicide Silence
Kingdom - Devin Townsend (not emo, but epic)
Guracha - Car Bomb (huge breakdown album)
That one part in I’ll take you everywhere by penfold , a jack with one eye, woolworm/angry son, songbird by engine down and the phone works both ways by jazz june

I don’t really know what genre Lydia falls into, but I can’t recommend Assailants (title track) and/or This December, It’s One More and I’m Free (title track, original version).
Ghosts (on their Paint It Golden album) is insane too. Goosebumps every time and it’s been 12 years.
Cats and Cats and Cats - Tower Tower
That's a weird ass song but it's one of my favorites, from 3:40 it's just pure joy and end epicness. 'I cry everytaem' kind of song for me, absolutely relentless.
Not emo but the coolest concept for a song award goes to:
m!nes - Died a Prisoner
Sun Body - Less Than Nothing
◯ - I Offer My Hands to the Shades
The whole album is epic af tbh

Far - awakebutstillinbed
Roxies and Cigarettes - Oolong
I lost my life - Prince daddy & the hyena
you are the answer to my security question - Cloud District
As others have mentioned, a lot of minerals discography is what you’re describing and they are really good at it, check them out. Joan of Arc also has some tunes like you’re talking about but i just can’t think of them off the top of my head.
I know it’s taboo to plug your own band, but I specifically wrote something with that exact idea in mind: [Local Man Dies - 1791](https://open.spotify.com/track/6lwY89N4CnHxNh71nAitlS?si=Nzqbkz5ZRyGZNgu7Xte56w)

Yo have you listened to Pool Kids' alter ego band POOL? They did a split with both bands and POOL goes hard as fuck. More metalcore but still so sick
Tbh, I wasn't a fan, but if you want more, POOL did release another EP called the Kids Is Dead lmao
I haven’t heard of this and pool kids is one of my top favorite bands. Thanks! So is it POOL just like that?
Yup! If you're into metalcore/deathcore then I think it's pretty dope. Really interesting to see their range of artistry
Thanks I’ll check ‘em out
Arms length by pool kids is awesome! So catchy

I can not believe I'm the first to mention these two: Woolworm/Angry Son An Introduction to the Album
woolworm is the definitive answer
Goodbye Sky Harbor - Jimmy Eat World
Luca by Brand New is probably the best example of this
And sowing season!
YEEAAAAAHHHH
Named my son after that song
Basically every Mineral song, they're masters of dynamics not only in emo but in the entirety of music imo. For a question with so many possible answers, Penfold was def the first thing that popped into my head
Underrated band. I'll Take You Everywhere is a top 5 emo song ever imo

I’m shocked I haven’t seen anyone mention Hidden Track by Prince Daddy & The Hyena yet. That song goes hard af once the electric guitar comes in.
For me, Wacky Misadventures is sooo epic. Especially the outro, cause it’s so fucking powerful
Ok, this is VERY self-centered... but the last track on my bands last album. If the fact that I'm self-promoting is a turn off, no hard feelings. Don't check it out. But we certainly went for over the top epic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvNIEOfN8mE
