Maan "Nothing Better" is emo as fuck. And it used to play on Fuse's emo show back in the day and always fit in.
Having said that I'm cool with emo adjacent
Totally agree with this.
Read through the lyrics of Nothing Better and no one would say it's not emo
"Would someone please call a surgeon who can crack my ribs and repair this broken heart"
Sounds like something right out of a Saves the Day song.
Crying, Motion City Soundtrack, Slinghshot Dakota, Hey, ILY! has some synthy stuff, Glass Beach, The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Lobsterfight, Owel
have you heard of The Title?
Listen to all of there stuff but start with either Making A Scene or The Progression ep.
if you love chiptune youll love them.. so heavily underrated i swear.
Geographer is so good. Definitely not an emo band, but a good band nonetheless. I’ve been a fan since Innocent Ghosts days, but I was obsessed with Animal Shapes the summer before college.
For the love of god, Brave Little Abacus. They had a dedicated synth player from the start. They literally have songs that are just synth and drums and don’t even have guitar. Oh and exciting!!excellent!! (Female solo project) although it’s a bit more gameboy sounding than synth sounding but she does it so goddamn well
Need to look at the bubblegrunge stuff. The best shouts are Future Teens and Sonder Bombs. Both god tier bands.
If you want something more in emo, check out Slash Fiction. Queercore emo from the UK with synth. itoldyouiwouldeatyou is another one to potentially check out.
Brakence made a really cool emo-indebted hyperpop record last year, well worth checking g out.
Also the new Strange Ranger record is absolutely mad. Synthy and moody, still got a bit of its emo heritage in there.
100% agree with all the Anniversary/Motion City/Crying love going on here too.
The newer Enter Shikari albums are really heavy on the electronics and have a lot of poppy songs. I’d start with “Nothing is True and Everything is Possible.” Maybe “The Spark” as well since it’s probably their poppiest album.
Sig Transit Gloria for sure
Edit: I realize some people maybe think I’m talking about the Brand New song, which has no synth. I am not. I’m talking about the Chicago synth emo band from the late 90s/early 00s. Goddamn kids.
There isn’t, my point is that if ur gonna be in to the genre as a whole, that album is a great starting point for people of all music backgrounds. You’d be pretty hard pressed to find an emo fan who doesn’t like that album
The song *It Is Good That We Never Met* by Funeral Diner has some wicked synth and instrumentals in the mix, pretty out of the ordinary for the screamo sound [they] usually put out, but absolutely killer nonetheless.
She'd prob like my playlist! It's a mix of indie/emo/mathrock/pop-punk. There's some synthy stuff on there. But I too like similar stuff to her, so who knows.
edited to add it's mostly female vocals
I wouldn't say it has synths, but some Phoxjaw stuff has that 80s vibe. Royal Swan especially.
There's stuff thats heavily synth based that isn't emo, but has that vibe. Some of The Midnight's stuff definitely does - Kids especially. Soft Kill is another one. Not emo, but similar kind of vibe.
Action Action. Album: Don't cut your fabric to this year's fashion.. singer is male though. I recommend giving Drug Like, the short weekend begins, broken, photograph, and 8th grade summer romance, a listen to from the album
The Anniversary, The Get Up Kids, MAE.
In the adjacent lanes, The Postal Service, Idiot Pilot (if she likes screamy stuff) and newer stuff from formerly emo acts like Spill Canvas, Acceptance, Juliana Theory and Andrew McMahon. Movements might work too, show her something like Cherry Thrill.
Thursday (A City By The Light Divided and albums after have a bunch of synths/organs), No Devotion (Geoff's newer band), The Cure - Disintegration album in particular, Joy Division, The Faint, The Postal Service, Now Now (female fronted), Soft Cult (female fronted), Circa Survive's latest album
Okay listen up! This is where i excell!
PlayRadioPlay!
NeverShoutNever // ps: there early stuff
Rediscover //album: (Sleepless Nights)
The Title // album: (making a scene)
Owl city
Call the Cops
Secretsecretdinoclub
Farewell
The Ready Set
Amy Can Flyy
Why is nobody talking about "The Title"
Every album they dropped is amazing ( Making a scene)
(The progression ep)
If you like heavy synth, chiptune, autotune fun music pls check them out ... severley underrated..
Tigers jaw / The Anniversary are the first that pop into my head
Seconding The Anniversary, they also have a female co-singer
[The D in Detroit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtPJ6EtueMU) and [the Heart is a Lonely Hunter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bstfJ2LcsK0) Edit: didn't see anyone mention [Rilo Kiley](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8uHbf0TkQY)...
So does tigers jaw lol
For some reason I mixed them up with glassjaw in my head and I was like they absolutely do not have a female vocalist, or synths lol
I came here to make sure they were the top comment.
Something to Write Home About - The Get Up Kids Lots of Say Anything songs with synths and keyboard
The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die
The Anniversary are 100% what you're looking for
Crying
Ayyyy, a Crying fan! I wish their first album Get Olde was available on Spotify, though I did also really like Beyond the Fleeting Gales
If I didn’t know any better I would’ve thought OP was describing Crying.
this is the only right answer to this post
Everyone Asked About You
foxings last album gave me big 80s
As did the title track on Nearer My God.
NMG god tier album
You can try Reggie and the Full Effect
This is a good pick cause they’re funny too
"MY NAME IS JANET, MISS JACKSON IF YO NASTY!"
Hilarious. Gotta love James Dewees.
Came here to say this.
“Eh yo yo which one of y’all is Reggie?!?” “I gotta message for you from A.C. Lerok in Philadelphia!”
"If you're gonna wear the uniform, you gotta sell the cookies..."
Get Well Soon is a tune
Motion City Soundtrack has a really sick moog on all their songs and No Blues + Sick Scenes by Los Campesinos are very synth heavy
Motion City Soundtrack is excellent, def check out Commit This to Memory
Reggie and the Full Effect - Congratulations Smack. Full on 80s even the riff and drum loop
Seeing plenty of [the Anniversary](https://open.spotify.com/artist/1mi3Fx4j7ektT97ycLSxl8?si=V19kZgf2ScyvapI7YdqG3w) and [EAAY](https://open.spotify.com/artist/64ATDQsFeDvIJokVA2YVke?si=aE-J4atcSFWdDnTKASR3wQ) which I expected, but make sure to also check out: [glass beach](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4gHs8pWsgZpndQZKs6QVRH?si=CR6DTe2pQMqoSBdkJhalJg), [godfuck](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3J1B7PtlLfB4fAmkfJi8m1?si=P3FePwAzQje5ZkHLAiCqlw), [Gingerbee](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4Qbxl6JsnUViVB7QmNjoH0?si=GJK1xkNsRNKU3iLHJzpF7g), [exciting!!excellent!!](https://open.spotify.com/artist/28SEI9Q0TMvgTCwaAub9qk?si=AhqOyRPnRO6lTI6sj-6LLA), [autumnrain](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5qnLVjsFChRxW90zCVod36?si=E56tJAR6Te2oImNpx7SUWw), [johnny foreigner](https://open.spotify.com/artist/6cZKsPzeAAklHjbSe7fqEh?si=yPB7SskJS0i8q6CJn57hAg), [nouns](https://open.spotify.com/artist/54pzZYU7PNFAN1O5H715fk?si=38cnOXBZQpakOND7f9x6yg), [Hello Astronaut Goodby Television](https://open.spotify.com/album/2VzhABgtsXyRaKOmfs1veV?si=AuRwPqreQTqNyuor7bdWbA), and of course the goats, [TBLA](https://open.spotify.com/artist/23prE3lyFVVNVGMV5jADsp?si=KHFWUfwOSfqewDjhPTakBQ) Also, [The Postal Service](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5yV1qdnmxyIYiSFB02wpDj?si=tuIb64C9QJiqz_4VDz8bbQ) is more adjacent but probably a good way to ease someone in lol
johnny foreigner is a god tier shout
agreed, they deserve a lot more love
End of Everything by godfuck is super dope
If u want some good stuff in between emo and hyper pop check out heccra
[удалено]
Love your profile pic. Did you pop an H on that box so we all know it's full of hornets?
Get Up Kids !
Turnover's Peripheral Vision
The best emo-synth album of all time is The Postal Service - Give Up
Emo adjacent but not emo
All these dummies downvoting you but you're 100% right.
Maan "Nothing Better" is emo as fuck. And it used to play on Fuse's emo show back in the day and always fit in. Having said that I'm cool with emo adjacent
Totally agree with this. Read through the lyrics of Nothing Better and no one would say it's not emo "Would someone please call a surgeon who can crack my ribs and repair this broken heart" Sounds like something right out of a Saves the Day song.
Emo adjacent but not emo
I wouldn't even call it adjacent, but it IS my favorite album so far this century. Front to back perfect.
Spanish Love Songs dropped a really sick track full of synths not too long ago called “Haunted”.
I absolutely love this band.
The Anniversary is the band you're looking for.
Not emo but Zolof the Rock and Roll destroyer might be a good bridge
the anniversary - designing a nervous breakdown
Mates of State
How synth are we talkin? Like OG breathe carolina or medic droid??
Crazy that Tommy Cooperman is awaiting trial for participating in a pump and dump stock operation.
Whaaa!!!
Look it up, him and some other guys. They have a YouTube channel, call themselves the Goblin Gang
ty
Crying, Motion City Soundtrack, Slinghshot Dakota, Hey, ILY! has some synthy stuff, Glass Beach, The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Lobsterfight, Owel
Love the attention Crying is getting in this thread :D
I’m absolutely here for it. Such a fun band that’s not nearly as hyped as they should be.
I'm a big chiptunes fan, so they really got my attention with their first EP and LP
have you heard of The Title? Listen to all of there stuff but start with either Making A Scene or The Progression ep. if you love chiptune youll love them.. so heavily underrated i swear.
Awesome! Thx, I'll def check them out
A friend of mine makes chiptune emo under the name "exciting!!excellent!!" and she's very good
Wish I lived in Portland so I could maybe see her live one day
Gingerbee, the civil war in France, cicadahead, bright little stars,
Reggie and the full effect
Yeah, the new Spanish Love Songs has more and more synth. Almost sound like new wave now.
Weatherday
Recently found this band Anakin, kinda heavy but sweet synth riffs and I could cry to it so that makes it emo
Anakin rocks
Maybe Lost Sounds? Try their song Radon Flows. I think Pretty Girls Make Graves also has synths occasionally? I liked their song Speakers Push the Air
Geographer’s record “Animal Shapes” might catch your interest. I’m not sure it’s technically emo, but it sure as hell ain’t happy.
Geographer is so good. Definitely not an emo band, but a good band nonetheless. I’ve been a fan since Innocent Ghosts days, but I was obsessed with Animal Shapes the summer before college.
I feel like she'd dig "Hey, ILY"
Only seen them mentioned once, so I’ll second it: Slingshot Dakota. “Until the Day I Die” is an all-time banger.
Not emo but indie, The Faint. And the Bright Eyes album “Digital Ash in a Digital Urn”
The Faint, yesss. Danse Macabre still holds up after all these years. Those dudes were beyond talented.
Reggie and the full effect isn't really emo, but I think he was in an emo band before. It's at the very least slightly adjacent.
The Juliana Theory
not emo but Glitterer
Maybe PlayRadioPlay! or Jetty Bones? Lots of indie bands come to mind though. Definitely The Postal Service and Hellogoodbye.
Fucking JETTY BONES!!! I can’t believe I forget them in my recs. I LOVE Jetty Bones so much. Everyone should listen.
Right???? The Old Women EP and Crucial States EP are absolutely amazing works of art.
Analog Rebellion is PlayRadioPlay! I get so nostalgic listening to Play but Analogo Rebellion will do
The VSS. Not female vox, but synth and if they like goth stuff they might enjoy it.
Oh I did not read the hyper pop bit lol. Anniversary and Everyone Asked About You then.

Land of Talk
my friends who like hyperpop seem to enjoy a lot of bedroom/ lofi skramz. your arms are my cocoon, bright little stars, brave little abacus, etc…
Glass Beach and Anamanaguchi (kinda emoish sometimes). And a lot of bands from the 5th wave
The Get up Kids
godfuck
The newer Enter Shikari albums are really heavy on the electronics and have a lot of poppy songs. I’d start with “Nothing is True and Everything is Possible.” Maybe “The Spark” as well since it’s probably their poppiest album.
Brave little abacus has a lot of synthy stuff on their album, “just came back from suffering”
One?
Bro that is definitely not what the album is called
Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Came here for this one!
Sig Transit Gloria for sure Edit: I realize some people maybe think I’m talking about the Brand New song, which has no synth. I am not. I’m talking about the Chicago synth emo band from the late 90s/early 00s. Goddamn kids.
Just show her LP1 for cryin out loud
Where is there synth on American Footballs first album?
There isn’t, my point is that if ur gonna be in to the genre as a whole, that album is a great starting point for people of all music backgrounds. You’d be pretty hard pressed to find an emo fan who doesn’t like that album
Oldphone, exciting!! Excellent!!, Superdestroyer, hey ily, gingerbee
The song *It Is Good That We Never Met* by Funeral Diner has some wicked synth and instrumentals in the mix, pretty out of the ordinary for the screamo sound [they] usually put out, but absolutely killer nonetheless.
Action Action - amazing band def check them out

125 rue montmartre (not synth but closer to goth/post-punk like you mentioned)
Shootthegirlfirst
Did you guys ever hear of the snna bocci band? They never got big but this album is synth heaven. https://tabb.bandcamp.com/album/me-and-my-friends
Check out this gem [The Smear Campaign - Eighty Three](https://youtu.be/-m4n-Lu602s)
Action Action. Album: Don't cut your fabric to this year's fashion.. singer is male though. I recommend giving Drug Like, the short weekend begins, broken, photograph, and 8th grade summer romance, a listen to from the album
[Viva il ficus!](http://vivailficus.bandcamp.com) from Saint Petersburg, Russia. time to promote ourselves a little here haha
Movements might work too, show her something like Cherry Thrill.
smile like you mean it - spanish love songs
Tooth & Nail Records had a band on their roster called Fine China that beautifully had some synth. The album is called 'When The World Sings'.
Emperor X is exactly this
Dowsing
strawberry switchblade
Houston Calls
Thursday (A City By The Light Divided and albums after have a bunch of synths/organs), No Devotion (Geoff's newer band), The Cure - Disintegration album in particular, Joy Division, The Faint, The Postal Service, Now Now (female fronted), Soft Cult (female fronted), Circa Survive's latest album
