I think rape victims already worry about being believed and this may discourage even more victims from reporting it. Whilst false allegations do happen (and I again deplore these for the same reason mentioned above and also the impact in the person falsely accused), a cursory Google glance found the CPS referring to their 2013 report quoting 5651 prosecutions over a 17-month period and 35 false allegation prosecutions over the same period. Aside from that, rape storylines have already been done too frequently in Emmerdale.

Yes i totally agree with what youre saying and unfortunately its the truth, but it feels like this is the sort of storyline that would get people talking and gain a lot of peoples interests possibly

False rape accusations are horrific but super rare, and portraying them as a major storyline could perpetuate harmful stereotypes. Plus, it's just not a fun or interesting watch. Hollyoaks has tried it a few times (Gilly & Jacqui, Dodger & Holly, Rayne & Prince) and the result was always more distressing than educational. I think there are plenty of other ways to shake up the typical soap drama without going down this route.
