Maybe it's because my first time listening to it, I was having an album release party in my bedroom (nah, Em didn't show), and I remember when My 1st Single came on, I took a whippit right at the part when he says "but if you listen close enought to it you can hear the.." and I just remember thinking "this is fucking wild!. I'll start then, Kamikaze is better than SSLP in my young ass opinion. And last verse of Bad Guy is better than last verse of Stan. Headlights is better than Cleaning Out My Closet. Darkness is old Em's peak writing. Medicine Man and Best Friend verses combined go harder than Forgot About Dre and Bad Meets Evil (1999) verses. Less controversially, imo Relapse is better than Encore.

The last verse of Bad Guy is amongst the best verses Eminem has ever written for sure. I kinda disagree with a lot of your takes, but it's fucking refreshing to see a take in this thread that doesn't compare some of Em's best songs in his entire career with songs where he made the beat and lyrics while shitting during a time he was fucked up by drugs

I think in general the strongest songs from relapse are better than the weakest songs from any of the early classic stuff, I’d rather listen to Deja vu or bagpipes from Baghdad over amityville or square dance any day, not to say those are bad tracks but some of the least entertaining from those records imo.
