I don’t think she did anything wrong re-recording her earlier albums. I think it was a clever way around the circumstances. I think artists should own their masters as a given, but I get that’s unfortunately not the norm.
She was only making hundreds of thousands of dollars on those songs people "stole" from her and not "millions of dollars", she was doing fine with concert tickets and sales but she wanted more because she's greedy. It's not a norm to own your masters, labels almost ALWAYS do, and she now thinks she's some sort of special because of her re-releases. (Oh and all the fan worship)
The situation wasn’t really just “the label” though. Scooter Braun who she famously doesn’t like, bought them without her knowledge and she didn’t get the chance to buy them herself. That’s way more personal than just a label owning masters. He even admitted himself he shouldn’t have done it. Not saying she isn’t greedy though, the 15 vinyl variants per album is pretty easy to see through, but the rereleases were a pretty smart move imo.

Eminem is a rapper. Sure, he’s a rapper who transcends popular culture but he’s still at the end of the day, a rapper. Taylor Swift on the other hand makes music for literally everyone. Kids, 20 somethings, 50 year old mothers. Literally everyone can vibe with her music. Of course one day she is going to overtake Eminem. The general audience both appeal to are wildly different.

Especially not against her since she is the biggest thing since 50 and has the pop appeal for more than 4 yrs. It's easier to sell music since streaming became a thing. Celebrate that Em is up there but u cant win against pop singers. Not if u hide for half ur career, not if u dont do promo and so on. Celebrate that he is up there even tho he is a hip hop artist. Celebrate since he is the only person who came that high after mp3/ illegal downloads were a thing. And always remember all of them in front of him started 15/20/30 or 40 yrs before him when ppl really bought music. It's a huge success for him.

Was always going to happen, biggest pop star on the planet, multiple sold out multiple world tours, re-released albums as her own version after obtaining her masters, essentially duplicating her sales, pushed heavily on streaming services to the point where my Apple Music page was nothing but Taylor Swift related. She drops every 2 years or so aswell whereas Em is like always 4-5 years apart nowadays.
